      BO6 should've been half old storyline/new storyline like BO2:
Opens with 17 year old high school buddies David Mason and Mike Harper joining marines. Few years pass, David is deployed to Afghanistan. 2001-2003 campaign with young David, Harper, Salazer, Crosby Jr, one of David's older cousins from Aunt Marion, Bowman's son (who had already worked the old crew of Woods, Adler, Sims, Park when he was starting out) during the war on terror, David hunts Bin Laden with Billy Waugh, old friend of Woods and the gang and he tells story to the new crew:
1991-1993 campaign uncovering a deep-state American version of Perseus in Gulf War, Waco, Mogadishu with appearances from HW, Clinton, Thatcher, Powell, Saddam (maybe a meeting between all of them discussing the Gulf war psyop), Koresch (a rouge Pantheon agent), Waugh. Ends storyline with Woods, Adler, Park, Sims and begins Bowman's son's quest origins.
Showdown ends in 03 Iraq at Saddam's Palace, Cordis Die teaser at the end.

God I hope not, there are several respectful ways they could handle it. That’s quite possibly one of the worst things they could do.
Best way would be that they play it completely straight and that David is inspired to enlist after seeing it and we follow his early career. This was a very realistic scenario for a lot of people and wouldn’t alienate like everyone who plays cod over the age of 30.
Thankfully I doubt they’ll touch it all since most of the staff at activision likely remembers 9/11 vividly, it’s not 40-60 years ago. There were people who experienced it who are just now entering their 30’s

Not to mention, much of Modern Warfare 1 (original 3) was based on stuff that happened when I was born and on into my early childhood. The brutal battles for Fallujah, for example, was 2004. Some of what "Charlie Don't Surf" (MW1/MWR) is based on Fallujah.

I wish they would have done something with Gothic Serpent (Somalia) or something with Yugoslavia, the collapse of the Soviet Union, or the First Chechen War or when the Taliban takes control of Afghanistan following the Afghan Civil War.
There were plenty of chances to utilize any of these real and packed conflicts and instead we got dicking around with crime lords in the Mediterranean.

You’re absolutely right , im Kuwaiti and I have been a treyarch fan ever since BO1, which I believe it’s the best campaign , the pacing , the historical elements and historical personalities. Now a decade ago I asked myself, how cool would a cod campaign covering the gulf war, it would be awesome, and like they protested Noriega and Castro , they gotta portray saddam, as he’s the most ruthless, infamous historical personalities ever . And also the gulf war with his invasion of Kuwait , they butchered the campaign , I didn’t want to fight crime families in the Mediterranean or hop into harrows past , I want raw gulf war fighting

@vaddenrosvyl3659 I'm glad my vid reached out to you. This is exactly what I mean, it's like people forgot that for some decades Saddam was a big deal in the world. Even his execution was a big deal. Idk why they couldn't show him at all because unlike him, noriega and castro were still alive when they were portrayed in previous games. There should have been more raw gulf war missions, though I wonder how diverse you could make those missions gameplay wise. Lots of vehicle missions I'd think

Especially considering call of duty's less than amazing track record of portraying arabs in the past. I personally wouldn't have liked a patriotic american telling of the gulf war even in the vein of something like cod 4's campaign. I personally enjoyed the campaign more bcuz it was historical fiction with Woods, Adler, Marshall, Case, and Sevati going rogue to uncover a secret paramilitary order that infiltrated the CIA. Given how cod usually goes all out for historical accuracy when it comes to western vistas (e.g Amsterdam in MW2 2022, WW2 European war theatre in cod WW2, The White House in BO6) but rarely does the same for the global south, I think stuff like BO6 is the most we can expect from american or western made media like BO6 that cover the Gulf War or any other middle eastern/global south conflict. But hey that's just me.

Black Ops games typically have what I like to call a "Google Moment". Some part of the game that's based on a real like historical event that's so insane you stop and think "wait, that can't possibly be real", and immediately go look it up on Google. In BO1 for instance it was "was Vorkuta/Rebirth Island/Russian numbers sequence brainwashing a real thing?" In Cold War it was "was Operation Greenlight a real thing/did the US really plan to nuke Vietnam?" And so on.
Black Ops 6 didn't have a single Google Moment, in a game set in a time period as monumental and tumultuous as the fall of the USSR and the beginning of the Gulf War in the early 90s

Then it is revealed that the futuristic missions in Black Ops 2 take place in an alternate timeline where 9/11 didn’t happen thanks to your characters actions. This is there to explain away all the futuristic technology in 2025 that doesn’t exist irl.
And that the MW reboot takes place in the timeline where your character failed to stop 9/11.

@commonglitch9661 there's no idea too stupid around here friend. One issue tho. In BO2 9 11 did infact happen because there'd a bit if dialogue with Briggs and Patreaus where he says the last time we were at this Defcon was 24 years ago which was 2001. Plus there's a dlc map in bo2 that takes place on a bridge in NYC and you can see the freedom tower. The black ops series doesn’t feel like a military campaign about warfare based on the a certain time period. That’s why I liked bo1 and bo2 so much. Bo1 gave us a decent idea of what the veitnam era was like but it was the “black operations” instead of the typical war that was going on. It was more about what was going on behind there scenes. Still very much about the Vietnam era though. Where with bo6 I was expecting to be immersed into the action around the time of the first gulf war. Cod had a whole ass chance to make a bo4 campaign somehow connect with bo3 and bo2 (post 2025 era) and completely missed out on it just to copy fortnite. Or they could've made bo3 set some time shortly after 2025 instead of the 2060s(cod was hopping on the futuristic double-jump stuff), then make bo4 take place after that time period or set it back to where Mason and woods met in the Korean War, then have cold war and bo6.
Nice job treyarch, you guys missed out on 2 whole games of potentially great storytelling just to try to hop on some trends that would've made no sense to anyone playing that game over 5 years later, that was trying to understand the whole Black Ops franchise.
It's stuff like that which makes COD not special to me anymore. They had great campaigns of people like Reznov, Mason, Woods, Price, and Soap with Villains like Zakhaev, Makarov, Steiner, Kravchenko, Dragovich, Defalco, and Menendez that the players actually liked as characters in a main story, good or bad. Especially compared to BLOPS and BLOPS II. Blops felt like a fun time capsules that wasn’t a documentary but more of an imaginatively spin on what flashbacks and present day was. Gameplay and zombies is great and story isn’t bad but felt lacking in what you mentioned. NEW WORLD ORDER

Black Ops 6 campaign isn't as bad as MW3 2023 or Vanguard, but I definitely don't think it is a 9/10 up there with Black Ops 1&2. They completely wasted the Gulf War and the 1990s historical setting. I think Black Ops Cold War had a way better campaign, plus I liked that you could change the ending.
And yes, CoD has completely abandoned its core identity of being a soldier in a larger conflict. CoD was created to be a Medal of Honor killer and set itself apart by focusing on being a cog in a larger war machine compared to Medal of Honor's one man army stuff.
Shame CoD has become like pretty much every other AAA FPS now rather than retaining its unique identity. Here's hoping that new Delta Force game's Black Hawk Down campaign is as good as past CoDs that actually focused on military conflicts.
Plus tying the stories to multiplayer/Warzone has negatively affected the campaigns. I'm tired especially of capturing bad guys in the MW reboot sequels only for them to escape and become a threat again in multiplayer updates. CoD has become boring Fast And Furious/MCU movies now.
Last CoD campaign I legit enjoyed was 2016's Infinite Warfare and that will likely never receive a sequel.

As a Kuwaiti myself, I completely agree with you. There was so much missed potential. I expected at least one mission focusing on the Kuwaiti resistance, especially given how extensively the CIA collaborated with the Kuwaiti government-in-exile and the resistance. Their operations involving espionage and sabotage would have fit perfectly with the Black Ops theme. Instead, all we got was a generic airport mission, which I assume is supposed to represent the battle for Kuwait International Airport, and a couple of oil fields burning in the background during the intro. I also would have appreciated something similar to the COD 4 missions set in the Middle East. It’s just disappointing.

They were promised financing and support from the U.S. after the Gulf War to rebel against him, but since the U.S. didn't deliver on that promise, they were brutally suppressed by Saddam. I was talking about Kuwaiti resistance fighters who fought to liberate their country after it was invaded by Saddam's army. They received intelligence and material support from the U.S.

@Donker_Dank It surely is, it's especially disappointing when they build it up with teasers like "the truth lies" then just completely ditch that conspiracy vibe to a generic group of bad guys. Regardless of how good the campaign is, it will always be butchered by this seasonal story bs. They need some generic team of bad guys so that they can keep this faction shit in multiplayer and warzone. Imo multiplayer should always be in the background of the campaign as normal soilders fighting, not a continuation of what half-assed story they were trying to tell. And as you've mentioned, campaigns don't have a real ending anymore, it takes away that feeling of finishing it. I love Cold War's campaign but I have absoultly no idea how it ends because after the first season I'm no longer invested into the story.

It was awesome and had og writers and a Hollywood writer but sadly sliced down too short due to pandemic, would've loved a Grenada mission or Falklands mission with babe Park.
The Warzone Extended Story Cutscenes and Bo6 completely removed all the cool history for genericness. The Clinton mission and vehicle missions in BO6 were kinda cool though. The WZ cutscenes were awesome except the weird Butcher/Godzilla tie in weirdness that ruined it.
1991-1993 campaign uncovering a deep-state American version of Perseus in Gulf War, Waco, Mogadishu with appearances from HW, Clinton, Thatcher, Powell, Saddam (maybe a meeting between all of them discussing the Gulf war psyop), Koresh (a rouge Pantheon agent, Adler loses his shit and kills civilians inside at random in pure rage similar to past missions like Rebirth or Time and Fate from BO1/2), Waugh, maybe something in Yugoslavia. Ends storyline with Woods, Adler, Park, Sims and begins Bowman's son's quest origins.
Showdown ends in 03 Iraq at Saddam's Palace, Cordis Die teaser at the end.

I think they should really make a black ops game leading up to,during and after 9/11 since there is a lot of info about that time frame in that period of the late 90s and 2000s. Heck even leading up to blacks ops 6 release date people were speculating that black ops 6 was going to feature 9/11.

I was so so so so disappointed at the Black Ops 6 campaign.
As an avid Black Ops campaign fan, with the Alex Mason JFK assassin conspiracy, the whole numbers MK ultra stuff, the real life conflicts (Vietnam War, Invasion of Panama, Afghanistan, Cold War), I thought Black Ops 6 would follow suit.
We had a really cryptic and mysterious reveal trailer ‘The Truth Lies’ with some powerful people.
I thought it’d be some crazy conspiracy, mysterious campaign. In fact - what we got was a steaming pile of dog piss. Average plot, anti-climatic ending, characters you don’t give a fk about, and nothing related to the world leaders we were shown. When I finished the campaign I thought, “that was it?”
Never been so disappointed at something in my life.

Although it's not relevant to the topic of the video, but Bo6 doesn't feel like a Black Ops game cause it's not built on a typical Black Ops engine. I know the video is about the story and real world crossovers, but gameplay wise Bo6 is just garbage. They've been using the MW19 engine and mechanics for like what 5 years now? It's stale and every game feels identical, no soul and no identity, especially for Black Ops. Cold War at least somehow resembled something of a Black Ops game due to being built on a mix of the Bo3 and Bo4 engine, but Bo6 is just Modern Warfare with a Black Ops paint job, and Bo7 won't be any different. Cod is utter shite now. They need to get rid of this engine, or at least stop building the main games based on Warzone, separate the entities, give each studio their own engine like we used to have pre 2019, and then we might get some soul back into these sub series, cause even Modern Warfare doesn't feel like "Modern Warfare" anymore.

I should have explained that better, I apologize I did not

  • @worstballer99

your idea for a black ops 7 is badass, but the problem we are facing now is that Call of Duty will never do anything "edgy" again. they will never mention 9/11 and they will never use real factions again. There will never something in the game again that could cause controversy or any chance for controversy again, because COD won't let that happen. I think they belive they will always sell games no matter what and they don't want to piss off advertisers. It's a sad reality I have been facing lately. I didn't even want to finish the campaign. I think it will be years down the line before activision truly goes back to their roots if they ever do. and that is probably gonna take a huge competitor in fps for them. the story is just GONE for me.

Hi! I played Black Ops 6 game when it came out and the campaign was amazing, one of the best campaigns I’ve played in a FPS game. It’s also my first proper Black Ops I hoped to try and now most of the campaign was amazing, but coming towards the climax, it kinda stopped becoming Black Ops ish and turned into a puzzle and quite limiting to anything and throwing other random things. I do notice that idk if it’s just me, but the game feels a bit soft in terms of being realistic and how would I react if someone did something I really didn’t like. I think they could’ve done a bit more enhancements to the characters and story. I was really excited to play this one as it was a change up from MW3 and a few recent ones. They were bringing back some cool, good features from the past and doing something different, which is what they shown here and I’m in for a game where devs put in a lot of effort so yeah. I did videos on the game and it feels like my reactions enhanced the game a bit to make it be more cooler and authentic.

It focused too much on the fictionalised narrative that was, in essence, a Tom Clancy-style espionage plot.
They should have leaned heavily into real events/figures to make it feel ripped from the headlines of the era.
I think I know why they didn't (trying to craft an "Avengers" style ensemble cast story), but I would have preferred it if it was more based on events of the era.
I also feel like they intentionally weave narratives to work with a far "looser" Warzone story, which dilutes the whole thing for me.
