Ill always have a fond memory of this car. It was a rainy saturday in fall at 12:00, and my mom stopped at a starbucks on my way too a soccer game, and i saw a maserati GranTurismo pull in. i asked if i could take a picture, and he let me sit in the car and rev the engine. 9 year old me couldnt have been happier. If that dude is out there somewhere, thanks man ❤

Big P Big P Modern-wise, but not overall. Maserati started off making very successful race cars pre-WWII, and then started to make absolutely gorgeous road cars after the war. Their post-war race cars were driven by guys like Carroll Shelby, Juan Manuel Fangio, and Sir Stirling Moss. They used to be an amazing brand. It saddens me to see them like this.
No blind spot, no front collision, no adaptive cruise, no rear camera, no USB, no Bluetooth audio. Suddenly, my $22,000 Sentra SL seems luxurious.
Most of that bullshit is for soccer moms.

One of these was parked next to me, today. I was amazed at how beautiful it is, I believe it was the 2019 model. I have a 2006 VW GTI, so I was very surprised that an exotic was parked next to me. It’s a nice size car with very beautiful lines, and carbon fiber accents in all the right places; sexy, like a beautiful woman. This video doesn’t even do it justice, I’m still absolutely stunned by what I saw!
Every car has issues brother from outside or inside, no car is perfect, but this one is the Rolex in cars.

My first 5 cars (not rich, just used to “trade” cars a lot as a kid) were all red, 2 door, 5 speed...no/broken cup holders. First time I got a decent vehicle that was auto and had cup holders I was in hoopdie heaven!

I have to say, I absolutely love my MC. I personally think the 13 functional vents, before the front door has an amazing look. With that said. The interior is so dated that I actually dropped an extra $6,500.00 to have a modern head unit put in. That doesn’t even include the other creature comforts I have installed. It definitely needs an updated interior.
Are you still loving it? They look great to me, and I'm torn between a W205 C63 AMG coupe and a GranTurismo. Pure torque/GT car/AMG sound/interior tech vs the italian shriek and even better exterior looks (but not sure I can live with the head unit as you noted).

Our boy Dougie would rather focus on the flip up key and buttons rather than the fact that this is not only one of the best looking cars ever created, it's also one of the best sounding. How about this hypothesis Dougie: Perhaps the experts at Maseratin would rather focus on what matters (what provides thrill and has an impact on the driver) rather than the futile things that let's be honest, at the end of the day no one gives a shit about.

For 150k MSRP I would expect it to blow M series and AMG’s out of the water. The interior in these SUCK, for 150k, for 70k, even 30k. The “experts” at Maserati or more so Stellantis didn’t “focus” on the driving aspects, they grabbed a Ferrari motor and stuffed it into a car with an interior even worse than a Chrysler 300 and then ask six figures.

@@koolstup Nope.Indeed there are little fans inside the vents that work as temperature sensors for the cabin,usually found if there is a choice for auto a/c.Just like old Audi climatronics. ;))

I have a 2013 GT Sport. You don’t buy a GT for the tech. You buy it for the looks and driving experience. As a Ferrari owner, this car is absolutely amazing to drive and killer sound. And, if you need a backup camera, time to surrender your license.

1) although the Maserati GT doesn't have a backup camera Doug failed to mention the car DOES have proximity sensors that calculate and indicate distance from objects which alerts you the closer you get to them so you use your ears instead of your eyes.
2) all if not most exotics cars such as Lamborghini do not include the latest technology, these cars are focused on performance. A Maserati @454hp is competitive.
3) Doug failed to mention the "ipod" connecter is an extra included adapter that comes with the car. That was the technology then however, that cable can easily be unplugged which IS a USB port and to resove the Bluetooth >> audio issue you can add an receiver easily for cheap ( $20 or more)

First time I've ever heard someone say they don't like how this car looks. One of the best looking cars ever imo. I just wish it was better dynamically and interior wise.
Everyone needs to think ofwhat the buyer is wanting this car for. Most have extremely low milages for their age as they are drivers cars not a daily for the masses. Most of the other cars he listed are so boring and pedestrian with no charracter and plenty of ZZZ's.

Ideally Maserati would have been better not to put in the questionable tech and made a better lighter raw sportier car that still exuded luxury, syyle and performance without tech distractions.

It never ceases to amuse me how Doug's styling preferences are the polar opposite of mine. While yes, this car is pretty bad compared to the competition, I think it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing exteriors ever made.
I find the styling to be timeless although someone might compare it to a relatively bland Tesla model S that has all the personality of a streamliner in order to eke out the last 15% of efficiency that you can somehow never quite charge the battery to. At least NASCAR has stickers to cover up the ugly blank expanse of sheet metal and I think Mercedes and BMW give their EVs a bit more character with the same treatment

I bought a 2017 GT yesterday and I’m in awe of how beautiful it is and how nice and fun it is to ride. Too early to tell but so far, I’m totally in love with this car!

I’ve had my 13 GT sport for 2 years and I still love it. I have a Z06 also and this GT just feels and sounds better.

@ Dennis Gypsy - good call. I own one of these in a Blue "Sofisticado" and it is everything the name implies. It's a stunning looking color for this car. I was lucky enough to go to the Maserati factory in Modena a few years ago and took away some brochures, and it caught my eye that the car that is used in Maserati's own corporate advertising was in that same blue that I later bought.

There was talk for them to but I don't know if they are. I can't speak of their reliability but we already put up with BMW and Mercedes so what's the hurt? lol

Yes, Maserati has lagged behind over the years, but I absolutely LOVE the body design and the interior finish of the GranTurismo...I disagree with Doug on that. And I think the exhaust sounds better or just as good as some Ferrari's. Confused as to why he doesn't like the styling cuz that is a very sleek n sexy looking car...side, front and back!

it's a size-deceptive design, in photos the car doesn't look nearly as big as it really is, and that's what i love about it. it's gorgeous, elegant and has a glorious exhaust note

I own my 2nd used Maserati GT Convertible and I love the car in every way- true that reliability is not great and the prehistoric controls (which they improved in the newer ones) are really bad. But I think the car is amongst the most beautiful and, almost every time I park it somewhere, someone remarks on how beautiful it is. Driving it is fantastic and, unlike the Porsche (I have 3 of those), you don't see the same car coming at you everywhere you go.
Honestly I think cars can stop putting navigation in cars....my phone does just fine
I'm pretty sure Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will kill off a lot of factory navigation systems in most cars in the future. There's no reason to get a factory navigation system anymore when Google Maps does just as good of a job, if not better.
