time to update the list with #1 being the entirety of ESC 2024. 😭
The true story of "the long kiss" is that Birthe and Gustav was told that a little red light would go on, when the cameras had fated, and they no longer were "on screen". The little right light however never turned on, and they just had to keep on kissing, which they both were really embarresed by.
I really felt for Suri when that protester invaded the stage. But good on her her for carrying on.
That song deserved more.
To be fair, given how Scooch performed at Eurovision, maybe Wogan was right to try and get the other act the place
I'm surprised the fact that Sandra Kim lied about her age to be allowed in Eurovision and then won it didn't make it to this list. Switzerland (runners-up that year) tried to get her disqualified.
She didn't lie about her age, as such. The song lyrics said "quinze ans" (15 years) while she was 13, but lyrics don't need to follow real life, and in 1986 there was no lower age limit (this was introduced in 1990).
Misleading? Quite possibly. But an outright lie? Not in my opinion.
In number 1 you should mention about the vote rigging scandal in the Semi Final 2 of Eurovision 2022 between the juries of Azerbaijan, Poland, Romania, Georgia, Montenegro, and San Marino.
What happened? I just can’t remember honestly
I’m not the biggest on Eurovision facts, but i’d throw in the year, where there were like 4 Winners, because of the old system. Didn’t a bunch of countries quit then? Truly wildin.
The most funny thing is when the host of that year were joking about a tie meanwhile they are counting Votes, and well...
7:18 You forgot to mention this.
Serbia sent a lesbian singer that year Verka competes in and the lesbian won in what I think was the greatest Eurovision challenge that year.
But was it controversial in any way? Marija was pretty much liked by everyone, she was and is first and foremost a singer with a good voice and song.
I think she came out years after no? They did have a lesbian wedding when she sang it in 2008 final so maybe not..
Anyway that song was a worthy winner as iconic as Verka is.
If you really get upset because two girls kiss on a singing show, you need to reassess your priorities in life. Find a hobby or something.
i found it hot.
Ireland had a few years ago a song about a gay romance where the marriage broke down as one of the guys cheated.
Russia was really pissed off. They threatened to like cut to ads or something when it happened live (cuz it was in all rehersals & wasnt a secret) but then EBU had to tell them they'd be disqualified if they did that. You have to show ALL of it or none of it.
@@Fanney47 Russia get fucking offended over every little thing cause there special snowflakes.
Exactly. Besides that song was a bop. Still one of my Eurovision favourites.
They should add the Poland scandal from this national selection on this list ..
& they cheated last year too with voting right? I still can't believe that Poland qualified for the final
Yes please
wait what happened
@@syrupsealpha Jann the other artist who went against Blanka in the final two round, got almost 3 times the amount of votes from the people. Blanka still went to the contest on account of the polish jury not liking the fact Jann is "not Christian" (at least that was what I heard I'm not Polish) and it was revealed she was close friends with one of the juries' son. Anyways robbed Poland of a top 5 placement if not their first win. (The song Jann sang is called Gladiator it's amazing)
@@zoharamitai8719 Thats so shit wtf... explains why blankas song was so bad
Where the hell is Silvia Night? You can't talk about controversies without having a word about Silvia. And I think nobody cared about Scooch back then and now, so I don't see the point why that moment should be taken into account.
Dana International was and still is phenomenal ❤
frankly, the 2016 winner is so bizarre - it has been discovered that Jamala performed her Eurovision entry 1944 back in a performance in May 2015, which is a breach of the contest rules. However, EBU just plays dead. Australia won by jury vote, Russia won by public vote, and finial winner Ukraine
Why are images of Lordi? They were epic! I know Sweden's entry was whining about them being Satanic or some crap! Her song was literally about Scientology's founder.
Dana International is a frigging legend!
You didn’t mention that Portugal started a revolution a when 1974 Eurovision song was playing🇵🇹
If you mentioned 1998 Israel's Diva International, and 2014 Austria's Conchita Wurst, you should probably mention 2002 Slovenia's Sestre. I know they were not the winners, but I'm sure they're worth mentioning.
Switzerland winning the first contest, held in Switzerland. Voting has never been published
Subwoolfer are my favorite, last year is when I got into Eurovision & all thanks to them. It has been a ride & I am excited for the final.
Biggest controversy THEY DIDNT PLAY JA JA DING DONG
It was not "escalating tensions" it was war. Yes, even back then.
Yes, that bit cringed me too
Really?? Even in 2019?
@@Bulhbluhbuy yes, in 2019. since 2014 really
@@Bulhbluhbuy um... yes? ruSSia attacked in Ukraine, by first stealing Crimea and then by invasion of little green men (unmarked soldiers).
The Finnish wasn't a surprise to those watching the BBC stream as at the start Graham Norton said "The end of this performance has two girls kissing. If two girls kissing offends you, you need to grow up"
My favorite act of all time has changed this year. But not the country....only the song changed :D Until this year it was Lordi with hard rock halleluja....this year finnland crushed my heart with Käärijä. Its Crazy! Its Party
I loved the Georgian song in 2008. It would had been my favourite. What a groove.
Bring it back.
My favourite Eurovision act has got to be ABBA!
LOL nil points is a result, not a controversy. Or is it only a controversy if the UK gets it. Grow up.
I think it would have been more controversial if he had received any points!
It happened to UK once before in 2003.
Also Do a Top 10 forgetful eurovision songs the ones people forget.
oh boy have i got a new one for you
Ryan O'Shaughnessy performances back in 2018 did fantastic great job representing for Ireland, however his performance was censored during the Chinese broadcast of the contest due to its depiction of a gay couple. This resulted in the immediate termination of the Chinese broadcast rights for the rest of the contest.
Nill point is not a contreversy!!!
Can you guys make a list of 50 biggest Eurovision scandals of all time?
Israel: tells Hatari that they'll be stoned to death if they go to Palestine.
Hatari: get welcomed by the Palestinian community and collaborate with an openly gay Palestinian musician.
Also, surprised the no-politics clause didn't come up in one of Norway's entries featuring a song protesting the building of a dam on indigenous Sami land.
you joking right ?? lol gay Palestinians are running to Israel to hide from death ... plus Israel never threatened anyone from visiting the west bank lol...
I love Eurovision Top 10s
And, yet, we still do have "put in". So many eurovision countries could have absolutely different, better fates - Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus. Heart-breaking. At least the Croatia said a word or two about putin alikes this time.
Add Käärijä to the list. Real winner
Odd! I got sound, but no picture until the first advert! 😮
the biggest controversies is going from 50 countries to 37, and from 230 millions viewers to 161 millions in 2022.....soon Eurovision will be hosted in TV studio, back to basic .....just keeep on wit politic voting
This is why its tele votes only this year
Mark vaguely mention he wondered about how to put white dots for the consecutive digits.
I think it wouldn't hurt the puzzle to have white dots for eksplisitt consecutive, using standard rules.
Rather than using special rules for the same mechanic.
its already outdated, this year was SO rigged
Sandra Kim won in 1986 aged 13 when the age limit was 16. People called for her to be disqualified. In the end, she was allowed to keep the title.
The age limit of 16 was only introduced in 1990, after Sandra Kim's win. The runner-up of 1986 petitioned for disqualification because she was 13 while the song lyrics said "quinze ans" (15 years) and accused her of lying.
@@shadowfox1221 I lived in Belgium when that happened. All the news outlets were saying she cheated because she was too young and the public as well as some contestants were saying it too.
Surprised that Verka being robbed of the win in 2007 isn’t on here
Speak for yourself. Verka was fun and iconic, but Molitva is one of the best songs in Eurovision ever. Look up the lyrics if you haven't yet
@@Hana9916 Molitva bored and underwhelmed me in 2007 and it still does now
verka is my fave
How could Massiel have won in 1968 with such a rubbishy song unless there was something sinister going on behind the scenes?
How was the Spain government during 1960s? Isn't it the dictatorship one?
the song is cute wdym
I saw Lordi live recently
Me too, at a sabaton concert in stockholm
@@Wailmur I saw them in Leeds last month in Sabaton's Tour to end all Tours
@@caerdroia7530 nice
3:36 good pronunciation!
Can we update this video for this year's winner? All the hype about Sweden's entry being the bookies favourite, then getting such a big kick along with the jury vote that the public vote for Finland couldn't usurp it (Half the countries gave them maximum points), plus the fact that Loreen seemed to be completely out of it throughout the voting process, like she wasn't at all bothered. And why would Sweden get such a boost? It couldn't possibly be to get the maximum draw out of the 2024 contest being the 50th anniversary of Abba winning being held in their home country, hmm?
Yeah it seemed rigged for sure. Loreen is overrated. I liked euphoria but tatto is just so boring. I hoped that she wouldn't win and i'm from sweden lol
Well, you're going to have to update it after the Finland/Sweden Public/Jury split this year! Cha cha cha!
if ppl get upset about a flag cuz its political why did ukrain won last year?
unfortunately , people will get offended over anything
4:26- Russia's Revenge on 2019 (from 2017 after withdrawing from ESC)
this year just proved it was rigged
I didn't watch Mojo for years. This channel still exist?
Yesterday we got a new controversy (2023): In audience voting, Finland got 12 points from 18 countries, Sweden got 12 point from none. Still Sweden won by jury votes. So "good enough" song won, not the best one.
Ppl have different tastes you know... for the most of elder audience cha cha doesn't even sound like music
this years eurovision is going to be awful even worse than last year how is that possible burning daylight is the worst song ever made just give us zero points please
Is Lorreen's tattoo a plagiate? It's now accused to plagiate both Mika Newton with her song В плену and the song "Flying Free" of "Pont Aeri", a very famous song in Spain.
Their was Conspiracy theory say that if Terry said Cindi then she would've been the winner
UK this year don't hope to high tele votes to your song. This us not 2001
The polish milk girls my slowanie.
The booing of russia.
9 years ago was my last time watching eurovision.
I wont forget it
shocking controversies ? Seriolsly ? That is a scandal !
Good Video 🙊🤯💞🥰
FIRST SAME SEX KISS: i dont know why so many people overlook the 2000 entry of israel?!?! during the live perfomance of the group "ping pong" of their song "sameyakh" the two boys of the group are kissing each other. even in the official preview music video they are constantly smooching.
I could do so much better without it
Christ I had no idea cliff richards had come from Eurovision ☠️ I can understand why my mum used to refuse to watch it in the early 2000s like everything before that was fucking cringe as shit, including abba.I said what I said 🤷♀️
He didn't come from Eurovision. He was recording in the 50's
ngl i find the 2 girls kissing sexy as anyone saying its bad clearly has never had sex
Fun Fact: Artsakh is part of Armenia, no amount of aggression will change that Fact.
Historically yes but de jure part of Azerbaijan due to UN resolition and Alma Ata declaration 1991
Ukraine is grifters. They keep doing that.
Terry Morgan hoped it was Sidney
Lol no political gestures allowed when basically the whole thing is a political popularity contest not a singing contest.😂
Last year Ukraine could have had a guy farting into a microphone on stage and still won.😂
Add Sweden winning in 2023 to the list please 😅
Here’s one Ukraine winning Eurovision just because people felt sorry for them. Their song was crap and shouldn’t have won
Right? Someone gets it. Now UK has to host it because they can’t. If they can’t host it, they shouldn’t have entered
@@KateHarper23 I am really hoping you are either trolling or being sarcastic as I'm sure Ukraine would love to be hosting the song contest this year, if not for a certain sad despot bombing their cities for the last year and half.
@@ddlee84 they shouldn't have won Period their entry was shit. They could have sung anything and still won. It wasn't a fair competition last year. We should be hosting it because we won not because another county can't
Ukrain had many great songs ...but 2022... yeah... the whole result was a mess 'cause everyone and their grandma wanted to show their support no matter how aweful the song was. i get that move but winning eurovision doesn't help the people in the ukraine. that win didn't felt right at all. the other counties did so well and barely got points
Stefania is an excellent song. And really... being jealous of war?
Forgot the 2023’s biased jury!
top 1 käärijä not winning
The only reason Conchita Wurst won was because of the beard . The Common Linnets, who came in second, had a much better song and performance.
nowadays, the controversy in eurovision, is to be a straight singer
It's not really a "song" contest anymore is it; but a "Song, Presentation (in the form of Costumes & Pretty People prancing about) and Political Correctness Contest"!
If those singing their entries were to perform behind closed doors & given numbers just before they "do their bit" and the Nationality NOT exposed, I'd expect a completely different result!
This used to be a genuine contest but now imo it's a farce and I'd be embarrassed to take any part in it, hence I'll give it a W I D E Berth! I have much better ways of wasting my time, including writing THIS!
But still, I wish you all Have a Nice Day!
Oh yeah because allowing every trans and lgbtq sing means talent in your eyes. You don't care about quality at all.
Shut up troll😂
Freaks
dont be a homo
Be great if Ukraine win again this year
It would be great if ANY song won for the song being the bit that was voted for, as opposed to the visual presentations and Political Correctness voting!
@@terrytt5067 Yeah, it's got a long history of political voting. Which is why Terry Wogan quit.
