My top 10 crimes of ESC 2019 in random order: - Non-English songs that stays in SF1 were underappreciated (Especially Poland and Portugal, but also Georgia & Hungary), and predictable songs like Belarus & Estonia go through instead 😢 - With the exception of Italy & Iceland, non-English songs that were in the final marked down by a big margin (especially Albania, Serbia & Spain) - Too many opening & interval acts that kinda put the focus away from the competing artists. And don't even start with Madonna's performance. - Of course, the whole MARUV and UA:PBC/Ukrainian government drama, resulting in Ukraine's withdrawal - Televoting crimes in the final: Czech Republic, Greece, Malta - Jury voting crimes in the final: Spain, NORWAY (televote winner), Sweden (again overrated by juries) - Possible inverted voting by the Czech (SF1) and Swedish (SF2) juries, resulting in Poland and Lithuania to NQ - Fatal mistake at the Belarusian AGGREGATED jury votes in the final, that made: > North Macedonia the jury vote winner, but wasn't so in the live show > Israel celebrating false 12 points from Belarus in the live show > Norway out of the top 5, replaced by Sweden - The new televote distribution method. I think the 2016-2018 method was already spot on. This was just cruel to the televote winner.
For me, after this year, it should be 75% of points televoting and 25% jury. There was so many countries that jury thrown to the bin and it's pissing off.
partylikeits1066 I am Irish and we were bad I felt like she was out of breath singing the song isn’t bad like I would listen to it the performance was bad though
RNS malta went first and her moves were stiff so i kind of get it . Cyprus and greece were sandwiched with the netherlands so kinda obvious. France deserved way more but compared to other acts his vocals weren’t that good. I love Czech Republic but i didn’t expect them to qualify to begin with. I’m still shook about San Marino even qualifying and having more jury votes than spain how just how😩
I have to say as a Norwegian it was extremly sad that they did not get to perform in front of the Jurys again after the cameramen fed up. They appelaed to EBU to get to perform again but it was rejected.
The new way the televotes were presented this year was a bad idea. It didn't add anything to the show in my opinion in terms of drama and excitement and it robbed acts that did well in the televote such as Keiino and Serhat of their moment of glory. The EBU should bring back the 2016-2018 system.
When that system was used this year, it was earlier known that The Netherlands had won. Russia was fouth with the televote (244 points), Italy 3rd (253 points), Netherlands 2nd (261 points) and Norway 1st (291 points). So, at the second that the name Italy was announced (even before announcing tha actual score), everyone would know that The Netherlands would be the winner, because they already had more points from the jury and more points from the televoting. And yes, Norway wasn't announced yet at that moment, but they needed more than 400 points and everyone knows that that was impossible.
@@sunoolee9467 That is true and if you did it this year (and I didn't), you 'd figured out that Sweden could only have 93 points. But that is not my point, I mean that everyone could imagine that Norway needed 400 points to win and that was just impossible.
Spain last place because of the jury, Portugal not qualifying to the final, Norway being so low with the jury votes and Ukraine not participating are my robberies
Great criticism, I agree. Regarding Norway: The jury viewed a performance without the camera error before discarding Keiino in the semifinal, right? So they didn't like Norway no matter what.
It is interesting how Michael Rice came 24 with public, 25th with juries, and last overall with a song written by John Ludvig, who himself came 2nd with juries and 9th with public. If John had sang bigger than us for Sweden it would have come higher. This isn't to say brexit has anything to do with it, it's the fact the juries are so corrupt. Norway 2019, Ukraine 2018, Russia 2016, Italy on so many occasions, etc.
It's funny that Jon Ola Sand appears saying that the results were checked and everything's ok, but then two days later they say that all the scores were wrong
My biggest crime is definitely the televote rankings to the running order, example: Malta getting 20 points performing first Czech Republic 7 points performing third I'm sorry 0 points performing fourth(and before Russia) Cyprus 32 points performing before The Netherlands Greece 24 points performing after The Netherlands United Kingdom 3 points between Norway and Iceland France 38 points between Azerbaijan and Italy Serbia 54 points between Italy and Switzerland Spain 53 points after Switzerland and Australia
Why do we even have jury votes. Eurovision is a signing contest for the people not for the so called experts😠 The different countries aren't making songs for the jury, their making songs for the people😠🤬
Spain and France still gave 12 to Portugal tho :) I dunno the rest of the continent. I thought Israel or Icelandic televoting were going to vote for sure but nop xd And I wasn't expecting a lot from Belarus or Australia and they gave some points 😅
Norway case. That's why it's better to keep older order of announcement. You underline the importance of televoting. In 2019 it was treated badly. ESC is for viewers first of all.
The UK was bland. It wasn't bad - just bland. That's why it didn't do well. Not Brexit. For heaven's sake... The biggest crime, for me, is the juries punishing Iceland somewhat. They might not have liked the song in general, but technically they did their job really well. They should have awarded their artistry higher than they did. Also, Norway... Goddammit, juries! We don't even have to talk about Albania...so great! Juries should have loved this. I loved all of these songs, but apparently the juries didn't. Spain doing so bad this year really, truly surprised me. For once, I liked it. I thought Portugal would do well with the juries but being hated by the general public. Surprised me that they were disliked in general. Was apparently very divisive I always like these videos, because you mention things that I'm not always aware of, so I can't really disagree with your list. :)
omg yaas, love you guys so much can't wait to watch this also i'm waiting for a "eurovision 2019 all songs from memory" from you, those were always loads of fun
Eurovision has been a political contest in my opinion.... Underrated in semi finals: Poland Hungary Portugal Armenia Austria and Romania Underrated in final: Cyprus Malta Slovenia Greece and Spain deserved much more. Especially Greece and Spain!
Crime #1: Kate Miller Heidke finished 9th. WTF Crime #2: Sergey Lazarev finished 3rd again Crime #3: The winner is predictable before the competition begins, based on journalism.
Being the favourite with the bookmakers normally means that you are not going to win since people like to vote for theunderdog. And I agree, Australia should have been ranked higher and Russia should have been ranked lower.
meltrain I’m okay with Russia because I love Sergey Lazarev. His song was amazing, even though his staging was meh compared to 2016. Kate definitely needed to be higher. Still don’t understand why Duncan. His song was okay but staging was lacklustre compared to Australia and even Switzerland
My top 3 most shocking moments : 1. Spain not getting into top 10 2. Germany getting 0 Points in the Televote 3. Norways Jury score You can say what you want about Germany but they really deserved much more points!
I am from Taiwan, and I love Eurovision. Another crime that many have missed is when they were doing the recap, all the delegations were shown celebrating except Spain. They just showed the flag on a chair. I don’t know if that would have made a difference, but Miki missed another moment. I’ve memorized the song even if I don’t know Spanish. Just love the melody.
I totally agree. The UK’s failure at Eurovision cannot be blamed on Brexit. There will be a few out there who are genuinely annoyed by the need for the UK to withdraw from Europe and they’ll see that as some sort of anti-Europe stance so they’ll use that as fuel, but that will be a very tiny percentage. (And to those I have one thing to say, don’t be bitter...there are many other countries competing in Eurovision who aren’t even IN Europe!). A lot of it this year was down to the weak staging, which I cannot fathom. Why have such a dramatic ballad with soaring choruses when they couldn’t match it for staging. The UK are capable of brilliant staging (did anyone watch Britain’s Got Talent semi’s/finals? Such beautiful staging that absolutely annihilated most of the staging at Eurovision) so we’re incredibly capable. I feel this year the whole show was a shambles, from dodgy camera angles to technical faults in sound, to the dramas behind the scenes where many artists clashed with producers/staging people, votes being counted incorrectly....the list goes on. Ps: Portugal was slept on. Period. They should have made it to the finals.
I find it surprising (and also quite disappointing) that no one even mentions the whole 'Hatari showing the flag of Palestine' thing. That was utmost disrespectful, disgraceful, and tasteless towards Israel and KAN after they had given us such an amazing trio of shows last year. I know Hatari was purely there to raise hell and cause commotion, but I don't get why people are behind that. Sure, I get the whole 'Free Palestine' thing, but even so. We all complain that Eurovision is too political. I think it's more than justified that the Icelandic broadcaster was fined for their foolish action. Something like that must not happen!
The girls from Germany actually made fun of Madonnas Performance on theire instagram live Story! It for sure Was not a good Performance but as a Contestant i would not make fun live 🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️
I can but agree with this list for the most part. About #6, I'd rather create an entry "juries underrating creative/original acts" (because Iceland also was rated poorly by juries) and put it higher than #6. But then on the other hand, Conan and Portugal's choice deserve a separate entry.
For me, one of the biggest crimes is Zena being third-to-last 🇧🇾 ... And quite honestly Norway coming 6th while winning the public vote somewhat puts the existence of juries itself into question.
I remember watching Eurovision back in the days of 2007 or 2008 when everyone was complaining about block voting etc., so people would want juries because then „music experts“ would rate the quality entries better than the public. But now what happens - in some countries the juries do even more block votes than the public (for instance Greece - Cyprus), and they tend to upvote generic pop songs in English. I just have doubts that the juries are really that independent and open-minded.
Am I the only one who has noticed that MARUV _can't sing_ ? She's attractive and has that BDSM lesbian persona that seems en vogue this year and top notch music production, but I doubt that song would have been a serious contender after an anemic live performance like in the finals in Ukraine. I do not think she should have been excluded from the contest, mind you.
My top 3 crimes: 1. Ukraine withdrawing (I loved their song!!!) 2. Belgium not qualifying 😭 the song grew on me and Eliot was so good! 3. Spain coming DEAD last in the final. WTH Public! That song was amazing
About Norway. The juries also voted them down in the semi. Don't think it was just because of that mistake in the final. And I don't feel bad for Maruv after she shared her "opinions' anymore..

I don’t really think that KEiiNO‘s low jury score is because of the technical issues, because in the semifinal the Juries also rated them very low (11th) and there were no technical issues as far as I know. However these issues are still very frustrating..
There were technical issues with Norway aswell in the semi but juriers were told not to rate on the staging but I guess they have if they only came 11th
The juries seem to be out of touch with the public... Norway‘s entry was the ultimate Eurovision entry, upbeat, modern, but with this very ethnic element of joiking - something people just instantly „got“ somehow. Yet juries rated North Macedonia the highest presumably because of its message, which is a good one, but the song itself is horrible and generic.

They are SJWs though and the singing was awful. Especially for their genre.
The jury just makes me sick. Really biased. Some countries I can predict their vote without watching the show
Tony certainly but some televotes too !
Cyprus 12 points Greece
Greece 12 points Cyprus
Oh and beacuse of the jury its hard for eastearn and for the balkans to win
Armenia , Romania and Portugal are the biggest crimes for me
So proud and happy for Keiino and Tamara they’re faves for me from the beginning 😍
Same, norway and tamara was my favourite, tamara won jury point and norway won televote, also i was confuses how armenia and romania didnt cualified but this semifinal was very hard, so many good song. Also my favourite was portugal and didnt qualified, belarus is in final and not portugal
@@pluto1307 Norway should have won. That was a robbery.
@@pluto1307samee
My top 10 crimes of ESC 2019 in random order:
- Non-English songs that stays in SF1 were underappreciated (Especially Poland and Portugal, but also Georgia & Hungary), and predictable songs like Belarus & Estonia go through instead 😢
- With the exception of Italy & Iceland, non-English songs that were in the final marked down by a big margin (especially Albania, Serbia & Spain)
- Too many opening & interval acts that kinda put the focus away from the competing artists. And don't even start with Madonna's performance.
- Of course, the whole MARUV and UA:PBC/Ukrainian government drama, resulting in Ukraine's withdrawal
- Televoting crimes in the final: Czech Republic, Greece, Malta
- Jury voting crimes in the final: Spain, NORWAY (televote winner), Sweden (again overrated by juries)
- Possible inverted voting by the Czech (SF1) and Swedish (SF2) juries, resulting in Poland and Lithuania to NQ
- Fatal mistake at the Belarusian AGGREGATED jury votes in the final, that made:
> North Macedonia the jury vote winner, but wasn't so in the live show
> Israel celebrating false 12 points from Belarus in the live show
> Norway out of the top 5, replaced by Sweden
- The new televote distribution method. I think the 2016-2018 method was already spot on. This was just cruel to the televote winner.
Airell RM like televote reception based on the position from juryvotes bottom to top.
Poland not qualifying was the biggest robbery for me.
lmao K-Ville entertainment what are you doing here?
Keiino being robbed by the juries was the biggest crime. They literally won the televote.
Crimes were Portugal & Romania not qualifying
Totally agree
I just can't get over that Norway isn't in top 5 :-(
No one:
Literally not a single person:
Deban and William: it just blows my mind😤
Israel finished last with the juries (0 Points) not spain right? They have taken the 12 points from Belarus back
momusicx Yes. You are right. The Belarus jury vote has messed with our heads 😭😭😭
For me, after this year, it should be 75% of points televoting and 25% jury. There was so many countries that jury thrown to the bin and it's pissing off.
Adam B the jury seems to not care at all. Voting wrong and extremely political. They need stricter rules or anything really
Biggest crimes for me:
-France not getting more points
-Czech Republic not getting more points
-Spain being last in the final
I dont get it why people only complain about the juries. The Televotes are sometimes horrible too.
other crimes : Ireland coming last in the semi final
sergey coming 3rd again
Conan not advancing
Ireland was good.
Ireland was atrocious imo, although entertaining in its own way. Very eurovision circa 2005
partylikeits1066 I am Irish and we were bad I felt like she was out of breath singing the song isn’t bad like I would listen to it the performance was bad though
@@dgrhbybfgbj5751 I think she had a gum infection as she has gingivitis which is a milder form of gum disease
im shocked about Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic and France's televote. Also Australia, I expected way more!
I’m still shook about San Marino even qualifying and having more jury votes than spain how just how😩
Same for albania
I agree with all of this😭😭😭👏
I have to say as a Norwegian it was extremly sad that they did not get to perform in front of the Jurys again after the cameramen fed up. They appelaed to EBU to get to perform again but it was rejected.
Spain´s case, is the history repeating itself, year after year
Except 2017...that was totally deserved...
2016 is another very big example of Spain getting one of the biggest applause and reaction from the audience but are landing in the lower half
@@meltrain most Eurovision viewers don't keep track of or pay close attention to the televote scores and how much is remaining so it wouldn't matter
@@sunoolee9467 That is true and if you did it this year (and I didn't), you 'd figured out that Sweden could only have 93 points.
But that is not my point, I mean that everyone could imagine that Norway needed 400 points to win and that was just impossible.
Let's simply admit it:
This year's Eurovision was a mess.
Are you kidding me, this was my favourite year..... what's yours?
@@Cristo2893 It's Not because it was a mess that it was bad.
Spain last place because of the jury, Portugal not qualifying to the final, Norway being so low with the jury votes and Ukraine not participating are my robberies
who else is waiting for the 2021 version of this?
I think the top crime this year will be Croatia not qualifying... It's probably been difficult to actually find 10 crimes
I have literally blocked all memory of Madonna at ESC
Great criticism, I agree. Regarding Norway: The jury viewed a performance without the camera error before discarding Keiino in the semifinal, right? So they didn't like Norway no matter what.
jatojo Yep so true
They wouldn’t have had qualified for the final if it was up to the jury alone
I still don't get how a song that encourages the people to dance like Spain's song could end up last!
my kids still sing it all the time...
The video I've been waiting for!
Btw we need "In any case" and "Blows My Mind" merch cos those sayings are iconic!
Official Spencer hahahaha. Thank you spencer!
Didn't Norway file several complaints to the EBU because of a camera incident?
They did but it didn't help...;(
heidi hval And guess who rejected it, Bjorn, the SWEDISH producer!
Can we all agree Eurovision 2019 was the most messed up ever?
The voting was
No. It wos great 👌
True
*CrImEa Is UkRaInE?*
Ukraine, of course.
*applauds*
*Jamala wants to know*
Ukraine? Of course
Absolutely !
I still can’t believe they did the Belarus aggregate vote backwards... it’s incredible how horrific that situation was
The BIGGEST crime? Iceland "technical" issue on a GRAND FINAL. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
Wait, I didn't know that. Could you tell me more?
It's funny that Jon Ola Sand appears saying that the results were checked and everything's ok, but then two days later they say that all the scores were wrong
Spain getting one damn point from juries, meanwhile Germany got 24...
WHAT....THE...ACTUAL...DUCK?
My biggest crime is definitely the televote rankings to the running order, example:
Malta getting 20 points performing first
Czech Republic 7 points performing third
I'm sorry 0 points performing fourth(and before Russia)
Cyprus 32 points performing before The Netherlands
Greece 24 points performing after The Netherlands
United Kingdom 3 points between Norway and Iceland
France 38 points between Azerbaijan and Italy
Serbia 54 points between Italy and Switzerland
Spain 53 points after Switzerland and Australia
'I'm sorry 0 points' XD
But yeah sucks to be these countries in this year's Grand Final 😓
Top crime: San Marino getting so many points by the public and Malta only 20 points (amongst others)
Say na na na
Public votes can't be a crime, if people don't like something they don't like something. It's hard to say that's not fair
@@partylikeits1066 public votes always butcher countries like Malta. Thank God theres the jury for us
The biggest crime is that Deban and William didn’t film their recap of ESC 2019
Тём - Тёмыч Same with 2018
I'm just here for Conan
Oh hello there!

I am still so sad about Norway getting screwed by the jury and after the correction not even coming top five.
Wait, not even top 5!?
@@umetnikmina Nope, sadly the correction pushed Sweden into fifth and Norway into sixth.
Why do we even have jury votes. Eurovision is a signing contest for the people not for the so called experts😠 The different countries aren't making songs for the jury, their making songs for the people😠🤬
That's the reason why Turkey dropped out a few years ago.
Singing*
SamSilk And because of the Big 5, Turkey thought it was unfair that they go straight to the Final without being judged in the semi
Because without jury, San marino would have been 10th and Norway 1st.
15:05 A lot of countries couldn't vote for Portugal. People from Spain, France and others received a error message when they tried to vote
Spain and France still gave 12 to Portugal tho :)
I dunno the rest of the continent.
Preach! The televote must be in order. We are voting and we want to know what songs got the most votes.
Deban laughing about all the voting errors is honestly me, like is it really surprising
I'm still angry about "Is he gonna like it?" qualifying over Poland.
Agree, That is my least favourite Belarusian entry so far!
Czech Rep. was so underrated by the televotes (like in 2016 with "I Stand").
Just 7 points? Come on... 😤
She recieved no points by televoting at all
The song is so fun and cute. Underrated 😤
I loved Czech Republic 🇨🇿!
Spain last on the jury vote. How ever I must say: sweden top 5 and not Norway... 😤
Sweden top 5 isn't a crime, the voting Error is a crime
Was apparently very divisive
I always like these videos, because you mention things that I'm not always aware of, so I can't really disagree with your list. :)
omg yaas, love you guys so much can't wait to watch this
also i'm waiting for a "eurovision 2019 all songs from memory" from you, those were always loads of fun
julianguba Tyank you for reminding us! 🙏❤️
Thank you that is
Eurovision has been a political contest in my opinion....
Underrated in semi finals: Poland Hungary Portugal Armenia Austria and Romania
Underrated in final: Cyprus Malta Slovenia Greece and Spain deserved much more. Especially Greece and Spain!
Excellent video guys ! I watched it all. I appreciate the research. I enjoyed the analysis. Thanks !
Crime #1: Kate Miller Heidke finished 9th. WTF
Crime #2: Sergey Lazarev finished 3rd again
Crime #3: The winner is predictable before the competition begins, based on journalism.
You mean Australia should have been higher or lower?
SzyMix 123 she should have finished higher. How did she go from 1st in her semi to 9th in the grand final?
What do you mean predictable based on journalism?
Being the favourite with the bookmakers normally means that you are not going to win since people like to vote for theunderdog.
And I agree, Australia should have been ranked higher and Russia should have been ranked lower.
meltrain I’m okay with Russia because I love Sergey Lazarev. His song was amazing, even though his staging was meh compared to 2016.
Kate definitely needed to be higher.
Still don’t understand why Duncan. His song was okay but staging was lacklustre compared to Australia and even Switzerland
My top 3 most shocking moments :
1. Spain not getting into top 10
2. Germany getting 0 Points in the Televote
3. Norways Jury score
You can say what you want about Germany but they really deserved much more points!
Deniz Akdeniz Yeah. Zero points is so sad :( That was not a zero performance!
And how about Greece ending on 21st after San Marino on 20th? Because that one is the most hurting for me.
Amaan Storm Everything you said was completely correct.
Thank you @Slim Rutherford
Poland and Lithuania should have automatic qualification if it turns out they both should’ve qualified instead of Denmark and Belarus
Yes!!!!
Instead of Denmark?, no way!!
I'm happy Belarus qualified.
It’s also a crime that Armenia ended up 37th!!!??
Ist das noch igrendwo verfügbar?
0 points was their punishment 😂
OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adam Carleton Hooray!
I do think having 2 prizes should be a thing. You have the main winner of the eurovision, then two "sub" winners from the jury- and televote.
I agree!!
I can but agree with this list for the most part. About #6, I'd rather create an entry "juries underrating creative/original acts" (because Iceland also was rated poorly by juries) and put it higher than #6. But then on the other hand, Conan and Portugal's choice deserve a separate entry.
San Marino jury gave 10 points to Montenegro, Montenegro jury gave 10 points to San Marino.... HMMMM what could this mean hmmmm...
hello3motos1 oh that’s very interesting.
You perfectly summed up everything that was wrong with Eurovision this year - loved the show, but there really were a lot of crimes
YAAASS I’ve been waiting for this!
My top 3 crimes:
1. Ukraine withdrawing (I loved their song!!!)
2. Belgium not qualifying 😭 the song grew on me and Eliot was so good!
3. Spain coming DEAD last in the final. WTH Public! That song was amazing
OofGalaxyGacha Owo Eliot had weak vox in the SF which was sad
About Norway. The juries also voted them down in the semi. Don't think it was just because of that mistake in the final.
And I don't feel bad for Maruv after she shared her "opinions' anymore..

2.Portugal DNQ😭
3.Poland DNQ😭
4.GEORGIA DNQ😭😭😭
5.Spain...just no... Why😢
6.Albania 17th or something?😭
7.Technical Problem in Hatari's Grand Final performence
8.The camera problemes
9.Belgium DNQ😢
10.Armenia DNQ😭 15th OR SOMETHING IN THE SEMI FINAL?!?!?!
I agree. It has more to do with elitism.
@Tim Blanks oh I thought there was problems
@@ScEd21 Well, I wouldn't say horrible, but generic yes.
Spain was my number 2 this year not taking in staging - I’ve always loved the song and there was NO way he should’ve come in the bottom 3!
He ended up in bottom 5. Thanks for your support!! 😊
