Do not think so. Why shouldn't someone vote for their favorite? In my opinion, a lot of people liked San Marino's song but they had other favorites that they voted for. This year was just a strong year, Senhit would have done better with this song in other years. The same with many semi finalists.

People joke about it a lot, but Moldova's result was ridiculously high. They got like, EIGHT different sets of 12 points from the televote in sf2 and 13th in the final was way too high for such an underwhelming performance
I think that Televoting 12 points in the SF were kind of rigged...
I’ve been saying this since the contest finished ,the fact that Serbia ,Cyprus ,Israel finished lower than Moldova and they were way better songs and performances , is an embarrassment and insulting 😂 I just don’t understand how Moldova managed to score so high ,usually I appreciate Moldova’s top 10 results as they always send interesting and different entries but “Sugar” just wasn’t it , it was good enough to get a mid table result but 13th place is a reach 😂
They getting zeros was so thrilling. The zeros made me love them more.

Just to prove my point further, one only has to listen to the English language interpretation of the Spanish song done by the two "zeroers" Blas Cantó and James Newman called "I Stay".
As an Irish man I think Ireland coming last was completely deserved. Whilst the song is okay her vocals are weak and the staging was horrible. I understand they were trying to do something different but it was so dark and looked amateur. There was a massive stage with amazing lights that they could have used. It’s a song about coming home which should be happy and bright and colourful. She was completely out of breadth at the end of the song. You can’t send a less than strong vocalists and have her running all over the place. Sorry but it was a big no no and that’s why it failed.
Ireland was my 4th favourite this year, but yeah, I agree 100% on the point that it was the overstaging, then the vocals, together with the fact that Ireland's second to last places in both jury and televote cancel each other out, as the reason it got last place, unfortunately.
I think the biggest crime was that they never sang "If love was a crime, then we would be criminals" at any point in this video😂

The idea that Maneskin did drugs on live tv in a room full of people is absolutelly rediculous and disrespectful as well, considering they don't do drugs. Just because they do rock music and put eyeliner...

Finally someone who thinks like me!! Like seriously, have people stopped more than 3 seconds to think about the repercussions of that? Not only they could face disqualification and a tone of embarrassment, Maneskin could face criminal charge both in the Netherlands and Italy! Like it makes no sense and I wish those who started the rumours apologised to both Maneskin and Italy for this mess.

The fact that no one outside of my immediate circle of friends is talking about the atrociousness of the lyrics to El Diablo... is a crime. A crime against the Spanish language. "Ta-taco tamale, yeah that's my mood" and "mama-mamacita, tell me what you do" make me want to depart my body in embarrassment. And the rap break in the middle of the song is so cringeworthy, pls: "droppin' our lashes on the floor" - whut? I think Elena's a good performer and the song is an earworm, but I can't get past the lyrical awkwardness and seeing it constantly hyped up makes me so upset 😂

Not that it hurt him, but extra honourable crime mention would be Gjon's Tears pillar moving during his jury show and then the EBU saying he couldn't perform again. That could have messed him up so much more than it did, and I'm thankful he came in first with the juries regardless. There's video of that jury final and he looked so concerned at the end 😕

Chains on you was a bop and I was looking forward to see what she could bring to the table this year. Its just awful whats happening to the country right now
imo san marino and malta both flopped due to overhype/ being classic 'loved by the fans but not the general public' entries. as someone who watched the songs for the first time on the night, i was underwhelmed by both of them. especially with malta- after months of them being favourites i just found myself saying 'is that IT?' with their song.
i also saw a lot of comments on twitter etc. thinking that having flo rida as part of sm's entry was unfair, so it seems like their gamble backfired

Anouk has a severe case of of Asthma. She limits her public appearances all year because of covid, and she was part of the voice from a off studio cubicle.. I dont think anouk minded not being part of the show. So is it considered crime if she doesn't care? Nah 😂.

I think the scoring system is fine. Yes i was also shocked 4 countries got 0 points but that is just based on overall voting.
And at the end of the day, countries who got more votes deserve every point they can get.
Based on what we saw, getting zero is such an honour. Like being part of a very exclusive club. Italy couldn't have deserved the honour of a zero in hundred years even if they tried to sing their worst. So kudos for the heroic zeroers. Wear it as a badge.

This year's Eurovision was so epic I knew you HAD to make an almost one-hour Eurovision crimes video. One of the best if not THE best contest in recent years.
The whole "Did he do drugs?" thing just pissed me off. At first, I thought it was just a joke, but it grew and became a real thing. Even big media outlets went along and wrote about it. And the thing is....it didn't even effing look like he did drugs!
It's sad to see papers and other places talk about it as if it was a real thing. Just proves that media can sometimes be pure garbage.
Also proves that we live in a sick society where a screan and a keyboard have the power to convince hundreds of thousands of people around the globe they're seeing something that's just nowhere to be seen.
I don't think four countries getting zero is a crime so much as it is a 'scandal' that people have fun talking about. The way Eurovision works is that it's a tough scoring system. You can be everybody in the world's 11th favourite song and get no points because you need to be in the top 10 to get any points at all. It's just the way it works. Getting zero points doesn't mean you were a horrible song or that you 'deserved' zero points. It just means the way things worked out you didn't end up in any country's top ten. You could have been in the middle, not necessarily dead last with every country.
It applied to Jendrick in the televote and our act James in the jury. I liked BOANA, Embers and IDFH and thought Voy a Querdame was nice too. Btw, my twin brother thinks BOANA fared badly with the public as its message and themes were lost on most of Europe.

I've also noticed that the televoting public as whole tends to react adversely to songs they perceive as "not European enough," which I think is really messed up - I observed this in a lot of the critiques of both Jeangu's song and Senhit's inclusion of FloRida. I think it's BS, but I largely attribute their v low rankings to that.
Absolutely AWESOME video. Did not disappoint one single bit! Still can't believe it's been a couple months almost.
P.S. Italy be absolutely WINNING this year. First Eurovision then the Euros in football. Insane.
I'm surprised that you didn't discuss Malta more. It was the bookies' favorite for months before the contest and it ended up flopping so hard in the televote. Occidentali's Karma was considered a huge flop back in 2017 for less. And the fact that she'd manage to win her semi (which wasn't an easy one) makes the whole thing even weirder like what went so wrong in the gf? I knew she wouldn't win because it wasn't a pop year and let's be honest "Je me casse" felt a little too similar to "Toy" at times but the televote result was undeserved imo.
San Marino was just the typical fan favorite that the general audience didn't appreciate. The hype for the song existed only among esc fans.
I definitely agree with San Marino being such a fan favourite, but not for the general audience. I think the thing was that us fans know what San Marino have sent in the past and we know this is sooo much better, therefore we almost subconsciously rank it higher than it should be

San Marino deserved better, they worked really hard this year. Same with Belgium being so low on the chart, and Moldova being so high.
I predicted that San Marino would finish 15th-20th because I was very concerned about how the jury would score the song before the contest. The song was very repetitive and sounded too similar to what Cyprus sent in 2018.

I agree, even though Destiny, Manizha and the fact that someone got a feature from Flo Rida did at least ensure rnb and Hip Hop were well represented and compensated for the fact that Athena had to spend her birthday watching at home rather than performing a new song to expand on her style. I did a 3 part drawing that she reposted on her stories where the first 2 were of my idea for the staging of Chains On You (no props but LOTS of intensity) and the 3rd is her getting messages from 2020/21 acts I wish she was friends with as well as the Flo. Such talent doesn’t deserve to be left lonely.
Armenia had no choice but to withdraw due to the situation in the country at the time. It’s not a crime to be forced to pull out
@@EurovisionSlovenia true, and it’s obvious that the undertakings that would be needed for a singer writer to send an entry with a large intensity, tight knit choreo (my 3 part drawing of how I’d have staged Chains On You, which she reposted, ended with Athena, in high heels in Armenian flag colours, being given a cheerleader lift by her dancers, which were 2 men very similarly dressed to DE and 2 women with similar jackets and colour scheme) and plenty of need for rehearsals to prevent vocal slips, could not be done in the needed manner. However, it is upsetting because I spent 10 months emotionally investing strongly in Athena and getting her promoted outside the fandom, and the final day was her birthday (plus Netherlands votes for Armenia more than Italy and few of the 26 fared better than they’d have done in 2020 - only Switzerland, Greece, Ukraine, Moldova, and San Marino - the latter due to featuring a pop rap icon - did, though several others fared much the same as 2020.
Let's not talk about politics cause EBU is a huge hypocrite when it comes to that.

The annual switching of 12 points between Greece and Cyprus and Moldova and Bulgaria was also a crime.
The teams are almost the same and everyone knows everyone almost every year so thats why they support each other (talking about greece and cyprus)
There's no annual switching of 12 points between Moldova and Bulgaria. In 2019 Molodva gave 12 to North Macedonia, in 2018 to Estonia, etc. Moldova is not loyal to any Eastern European country or neighbour.

I think Italy might have killed San Marino’s chances. Måneskin blew everyone away so the two that came afterwards had no chance with the public. The same thing happened in 2014 when the Common Linnets killed San Marino and the UK.
Might be some truty to that.. whenever i rewatch i seem to just stop after Italy, i rarely watch further.

@@degviela for Sweden in general but not for the song. It was only 10th in the televoting semifinal but 11th in the final. Sweden doesn't get high points because it's Sweden, because the performances and songs were good. People don't vote for it because it's sweden
I actually disagree. Even in the Semis San Marino didn’t do well. What killed it were the 300 female pop songs that came before it. Honestly, the fans overrated the song because San Marino’s an underdog and people love rooting for underdogs but if it were to be Albania or Latvia’s entry, Adrenalina would be easily forgotten.
Guys what do you think about Lithuanias jury result in the final? If we talk only about crimes in results, this is one of the biggest for me!

I agree with Deban on this one : French jury not giving any point to Italy or Malta is not a crime ! As Deban said, the french televoters did not give Malta any point, and the juries ranked Italy 11th, so it's not that HUGE of a discrepency, especially knowing that the juries oftenly do not like rock songs ! (And btw, the UK jury did not give point to Italy or Malta either, and no one's saying it's a crime sooooo)

I know a lot of Eurovision fans really liked San Marino, but in the general public it really wasn't that popular. They came 9th in the semis as well, so clearly a lot of people just didn't like it. I don't know why some fans are trying SO HARD to come up with excuses of why it didn't go well.... most people just didn't like it.
Also again most Europeans at home are going to neither know or care how the eff Flo Rida is.

Regarding the zero points issue: I know that the voting with points from 1 to 8, 10 and 12 are traditional but that came out of the necessity to make sure that there is only one winner and not four like in 1969. But back there were fewer than 20 contestants. Now there are about 40 and still about 25 in the Grand Finale. This means that 15 countries out of 25 won't get any points from the country that's voting (at least either in the jury or in the public vote). The juries should be allowed to also award the nine and 11 points. Hence, about half of the competing countries would get points by the country that's voting.
totally agree, I would even find it better if instead of 1-12 points it would be 1-25, that way you can ACTUALLY see how each country did on average. But the douze point is just too iconic.

No crime on San Marino for me. Just an overhyped average song and Flo Rida felt like a complete gimmick. Europe just didn't buy it.
Regarding the zero points it's not a crime. After all it's not a case of people voting against those songs, just not enough people voting for them. You can make a case for each of them failing with the public.
People can't be annoyed about a televote result because you can't force the public to vote for any particular song.
@@jimw859 it does make me feel a bit sad as Embers was my fave song of ours in a long time but I knew that very few would say it was their fave, and that point was indeed proven.
This channel has a very high level of professionality. William is incredibly well prepared. I'm let down by Deban, who laughing says "he specifically said cocaine". False. William had to put the video to put that right. And afterwards, with a I-know-it-all attitude Deban said "why was he sniffing a broken glass?". Are we joking? Shameful. Do your homework Deban.

I think the system is fair enough. So you have 26 acts and only 10 of them can get points from each country. Of course only the 10 that people consider the best can get points. This year most of the public votes were for Italy, Ukraine, Finland... just imagine (more than 200 points for each of them) that means that they were included in almost all of top 10's. If countries didn't get any points they weren't memorable enough or not catchy enough to rich public top 10. It's simple. Let's give all the 39 acts a winning trophy cause it's sad when you don't win and allow all of them take part in the final, cause it's so sad when you can't perform on the final night. That's the competition and that's why it's interesting to watch and to participate. I'm sure the contestants can accept getting 0 points. It's ok, but to get 1-5 points isn't much better.
Other options, like to give points from 1 to 26 from each country or to give the amount of points equal to the percentage of the public votes looks difficult and the amount of points is going to be redicilous though it's going to be more fair.
It just wasnt the year for big divas- Malta, Cyprus, San Marino, Serbia- all high quality and marked down. As you say different tastes come and go each year.

San Marino used a world famous artist in the hope to get more points based on his popularity. This is in my opinion what threw people off. It was a cheep move. Non the less, the song was good.

I didn't like San Marino's song and think it deserved the 13 points it got from televote. But, I was disappointed in Belgium only getting 3 points, they deserved so much more!! As many people have already said it, it might have been too refined for Eurovision.
So interesting to hear this perspective, because I thought Belgium's song was enjoyable, but lyrically and musically pretty basic. Obviously that's subjective :)

Yes! Totally agree about Australia. It was a totally a crime. I don’t understand how we can our largest overseas team to the Olympics and we can’t send a much smaller team to Eurovision?!
I can understand why, SBS who got a risk assessment done by someone independent decided that it was too much of risk.
But how they showed Australia on tv vs Iceland who couldn’t perform either, very obvious that it was a live on tape. Like they cut away to show the screen with Australia’s performance while Iceland they cut to the audience in the end so it looked seem less.
@Rebecca Woolf That make sense but feel like EBU should have done the same for Australia 🇦🇺. Like for those people who don’t follow Eurovision content in the lead up it made it quite obvious that Australia wasn’t there in person, which I think played a part in why we had our worst result to date. Like I think it might be received differently if Montaigne was there in person (also if the first video of the song wasn’t the Mardi Gras performance)
Weird bit for me is that I'd never even heard of Flo Rida before Eurovision.
Tbh he’s better known for individual songs (surely you know a silly pop-rap song about “apple bottom jeans (and) boots with the Furrrrr” from 2008 that was 10 weeks US number 1 and a U.K. no 2) than as an act, hence his chart record over here had lots of alternation between major success and more modest fortunes. He last had a song well known here in the U.K. in 2015, and fell into obscurity everywhere.
That's only true if you follow hip hop or the recent charts I do neither so I've never heard of him either.
@@EmoBearRights he was last in the charts in a moderate manner in 2015-16 and in a major manner in 2012 (he did used to have a lot of no 1’s in his home country and also here in the U.K. but many must have forgotten about him). He was far better known for singles than albums and Digital Spy showbiz website was often scathing towards his albums.

I think San Marino appearing like an interval is actually a good thing. I mean, yeah sucks they don't get good scores, but they were there to ENTERTAIN. The end of the performance kinda makes us forget that it was a competition, it was just a fun music show and the energy was definitely there, even much more entertaining than some of the dancing divas that other countries sent! So if creating a great entertainment was their aim, they actually nailed it.
I really thought that the cameraman showing during Samanta Tina's performance in Semi Final 2 would have been on the list but maybe it would have been a close #11? Also awesome video!♥️

The drama with Malta winning their semi and still having to go sixth... people say the running order doesn't matter, but it really does. It's harsh when considering Switzerland also won their semi but was allowed to perform 11th and that Malta had to follow Russia which was another woman's empowerment song. It was just stacked so hard against her. Everyone thought she flopped...

They just rig the final to place good songs in memorable places such as Cyprus opening, Switzerland and Iceland ending first half, the strong songs in the latter half of the 2nd half to name a few

Among fans, maybe. But juries and average viewers would have loved Iceland more than Bulgaria or Lithuania, that's very obvious in my opinion.
For me, the winner contenders last year were Russia, Lithuania, Iceland, Italy and Bulgaria. Russia would've most likely won the televote but like 12 points from the public. Bulgaria would've done great at juries but flop at the televote. The juries would favor Italy, not so sure about the televote. Iceland & Lithuania would've done great at both. So, it would be either Iceland Lithuania or Italy.
What I heard as an Australian was that to go over there she had to pay for the hotel quarantaine when she got back and she couldn't afford it
