Just another ambient sound I came up with. Once again, I am running stereo into a Fender Blues Deville and a Vox AC15. Left the lights on this time so you can see what I'm doing. :)
Recorded with Sonar 8 Studio
Primary pedals used:
Keeley Compressor (on all the time)
Electro Harmonix Micro Pog
Boss TR-2 Tremolo
Line 6 DL-4 Delay
Boss RV-5 Reverb
Wow - 10 years old already. Thank you for all the inspiration Andy. I know I am just one of many that owe you that.
throwback to 6 years ago, this video made me love ambient music and had inspired me to come up with my own musical project. thank you Andy.
Found this when I was 18 I'm 25 now and I still come here to escape my depression and low mental stability lobe you're work its very healing
The boss delay is just digital with repeat time set in the 200-800ms range. The dl4 is set on the analog w/ mod setting. the mix knob is very high, so the delayed sound actually comes out louder than the dry signal. they are both set for long delays with relatively long repeats, although i believe the dl4 is longer on both accounts than the dd5.
yup, i am in love with that setting
the pedals i used for this are listed in the description, and they are in the order of the signal chain
14 years later I find myself come back to this song . The first to introduce me to this sound .
Has helped me through the loneliest times . To be able to sleep.
The rings this song has made into my subconscious. I’ll forever come back to it.
Cheers my friend. Wishing you many blessings. And for those who see this. Sleep well. Everything’s gonna be okay. It always is 🙏
Hello Andy,
I found your music around 3 or 4 years ago, when one of my friends decided to play your Ambient Songs album during our mushroom trip. Ever since, it has swam in the background of my life. From small things such as writing, revision or going to sleep, to some powerful DMT trips, and love-making.
Thank you for giving this sound back to the world from whence it came, you are an angel. x
i've used this song (but as "it was a sight" with the guy talking, to help me fall asleep almost every night for the last 4/5 months. love it
I came across this 7 years ago and since then I am a frequent listener. So good. So soothing. So inspirational.
It's really a combination of pedals, check the description for more info!
Dude, this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard....
Soundtrack like...
this song just makes me think of the beauty of the world, that melodic tune is just so beautiful, i can feel the warmth in my heart, this is the power of good music
@AndyOthling This exact video was one of the biggest reasons I got into ambient guitar. I know you are struggling with burnout lately, to be honest who isn't? It seems like the world just wants to swallow up any genuine happiness these days. But underneath the noise is a beautiful melody. As hard as it can be at times just remember that you were created by God for a purpose and a reason. You have a wonderful family, even with its challenges. Thank you for being an amazing person through the years, your music defined a generation of ambient guitar players. Much love and respect forever and always - Andrew Pealock (Held by Nails)
Just thought you'd like to know that ever since I found your videos roughly 5 years ago I've been listening to you ever since, i kid you not I have terrible sleep issues and I have to listen to calm music to help me drift away, and the playlist I made for this starts with ambient song 2 and ambient song 3 I have listened to these tracks (near as dam it) every single night for 5 years. I'll let you do the math man. Thank you. One day I wish to be able to do what you do. I'm a producer via software for EG ableton, FL Studio etc. It would be absolutely amazing if I could create this sound via a computer DAW. Once again though, thank you!
Me again, new account. Eight years now I've been listening this. Still love it.
Still at it. 😴
Man, I can't get enough of these swells. This ambient style is so awesome.
funny to see a post below this one saying about 5 years ago also. but I'd have to say the same thing I've found your music about 6+ years ago when I was such a young boy and wow how the years have gone by this music has changed my whole prospective of this kind of music. and this very song was the first song I ever heard but thought id share also how thankful we are for u creating such beautiful music! and how it may not seem like it but your part of history and as years go by I shall always come back and watch and listen to these songs.
@musicfortheworldgirl thank you so much... i'm glad that it meant so much to you. and no worries, i will definitely continue to make music like this :)
youve inspired me to really start listening to the sounds i can make with my guitar rather than the techniques.
there are so many different ways an instrument can be played n thats why music is so great
cobus..man this is the only thing tat's greater than ur drum covers..it's so soothing..nvr knew such music..it's just too good..
if god was down here to listen this he would worship this too..
hey! thanks for the kind words. the deville is definitely REALLY loud. i usually don't go above 2 or 3 even at full band practice. the deluxe is a great amp as well. i just love the sound of the 4x10 configuration rather than a 1x12 or 2x12. it's all up to your ears though!
I love all of you. Good luck out there.
@LittleJoPo in this vid that pedal isn't on until the end... and then its used as an octave up. other than that, its just a "normal" signal.
@mundlaut thanks so much! i'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much. This track is my favourite among all the ambient tracks of all artists. This music makes me closer to God in its global understanding.
@musicofnic just using quarter notes... rv-5 is on modulate mode with effect level cranked and tone rolled back... tremolo was on at the end, i guess you didn't watch the whole thing?
@karp47 Not officially, but check out my latest videos to see what I'm currently working with. It's quite different than what's in this video.
Am I allowed to use this for a school project? Will give you credits of course :)
Going back over these today. Still absolute bangers.
This sounds amazing. Beautiful song I want hear some more!
@xShadowxLinkx not sure I understand your first question, but yeah, the RV-5 I usually leave maxed.
this song made me float in a deep blue water/syrup.. body started to relax, the liquid started to fill me.. and as the song ends i was that liqud myself.. .. very pleasing and purifying exp. keep it up. greetings from Croatia ;)
totally loved it.
probably, one of best ambient/droning textures ever heard. Soothing Relaxing like Hammock as some of few mentioned here.
I second the comment below me. This music just takes us to a journey thru time and space. I think the majority of us musicians (including myself) have a lot to learn from Andrew. WTG, dude! Thanks for making music so pure and true.
@cyhayward its before delay and reverb, but after the POG and dirt pedals.
this is just simply beautiful, one of the best, if nt the best sound ive eva heard a guitar make, wrds cant describe how stunning a sound this is.......awsum job
@FixedTilTuesdayRock My opinions: DL4 is a better looper. Timefactor has a better delay sound (and is more useable when you have an Aux switch like the Digitech FS300)
I listen to "lowercasenoises" every day. A lot.
This is the 2nd track there and is in my top 3 faves.
I cannot have a favorite from them because I am ridiculously fond of every one of them.Except for #7 which I can never get to stream for some reason...
It's nice to watch the video though and see how he creates these masterpieces.
Low.
no effects loops on any of my amps, i only use the clean channels anyway
Beautiful stuff mate! It propels me to a state of revery and visualistic illumination that words can't describe
reverb is after DL4... but before amp. on the DL4 i use the analog w/ mod setting. thanks!
i absolutely live for this music man... you've inspired me greatly... i really enjoy this... thank you for being a true musician... there really aren't enough of those guys anymore... the ones you really look up to you know?
Absolutely beautiful, who would say that guitar can sound like this...
Absolutely, I love hammock! especially their latest album. and your stuff is great too! you're the reason i bought my RV-5. thanks for the kind words :)
Damn, this absolutely beautiful! You have a one of kind tone, i have never heard such clarity from an epic piece of music. Good luck in the future. Hope you continue making masterpieces.
@cosmogang not really, but it would be nice to have something a little more robust...
Dude.. This moves me so much.
Incredible emotion... wow
it's loud, but not much headroom. i sold it am about to get an AC30. distortion didn't sound too great either. yes, it is a vp jr.
I always watch the video that Cobus wants to share with us... this one is really great ! congrats !
You're so good... i can't describe how i feel with words how i feel when i listen to this!, awsome job man!
the pog is an octave generator. in this video i used it to bring everything an octave up at the end.
this is seriously an amazing sound, well done!. I was inspired to create something similar myself. Also i discoverd two cool bands through watching your videos(Hammock and This Will Destroy you) so thanks!
Wow i really like this, its so creative, I didnt even realise you could make such an ambient sound with guitar
@jcmnunes thanks! and yes, my project is called Lowercase Noises, you can check it out on myspace. i have an album up on amazon and itunes as well.
Beautiful song. Reminds me of Stars of the Lid, whom I adore. Thanks for sharing.
hammock and this will destroy you are in my top favorite bands... glad i could share!
@boutasac it's just a rope light, not a cable.
Thank you for your videos dude. It helps SO much with as much editing as I do.
This is just...well...basically...like...perfect music. Bravo!
you are very talented, I totally enjoy your soundscapes, lovely feel and harmony sense...wishing well
@1MIKH that's great, but sound and technique go together. technique is still very important.
glad you think so
@musicofnic no problem... it's a medium setting i guess, you can see me turning it on around 4:34
its the analog w/ mod delay setting with lots of repeats and a high mix... :)
beautiful. just beautiful.
Absolutely amazing tonal quality....thanks for this.
Wow! You should name this piece and put it to CD...it's absolutely beautiful and haunting...
@stix471 it's a volume pedal.
I agree with haratiocota. You make some really amazing stuff man. Im definately going to iTunes and getting all of your music. This is exactly what ive been looking for : )
hola que tal? nose si puedas pasarme que escalas usas para armar tus hambientes; y otra cosa yo solo tengo una zoom g1 on y si pudieras decirme que efectos usas ... desde ya muchas graciass!!
Very nice. Very hammock-like. I love it.
would definitely love a ps-3. i'll prolly pass on the expression factory and verbzilla.... love my holy grail and rv-5 (modulate setting ftw)
Great stuff this, reminds me of John Martyns echoplex stuff circa 73-78. Is the reverb fed into the dl4 or after it in series, or maybe in parallel to the amp? also what setting was your dl4 stuff.
Regardless-beautiful sounds you are getting-and nice guitar. 5* out o' mi' pocket .
hey man, awesome... i watched this video the 3rd time in the last two days. i really like this peaceful ambient stuff you do! helps me to rest and quite my thoughts:)
this one is one of my favorite ambient videos!! :D
God bless
Makes my body chill.
you really have a gift man, iIve been listening to this song all day long. It really moves me :) I can't tell you how much I respect you as I am a musician too, keep up the good work, I hope you'll become famous, you deserve it :) If you ever have a gig, tell me, I'll be there, first row! Cheers
dude. just got your album. thanks! so stoked.
this is just beautiful.
don't remember exactly, this was a year ago... lots of repeats are the key!
I love this ambient songs, they're very relaxing (:
@xShadowxLinkx I usually just use quarter notes. Nothing fancy.
Totally cool and original stuff bro!! Can't say too many people inspire me but your playing and song stuff is nice.....Best wishes and thanks for the inspiration!!
Dude. All of this ambience stuff kicks ass. It's so easy to chill-out with. Sounds so great! I'm very tempted to go and buy some of those pedals and see what I can come up with myself! ;)
I think people overplay it a lot. I used an Ernie Ball for years and it sounded find. I only upgraded to a Goodrich L-120 for reliability reasons.
dude thats just amazing!!! very shoegazeish and just awesome. you're a really inspiring guitarist
I know I've commented on this vid before but this is simply awesome!!! I can't wait for a video explaining how to get the perfect swell (or something like that!).
You are a genius Andrew!!! :-D
One of the first youtube channels I got subscribed :) time goes by
hi very nice sound man. THinking of picking up a vox amp myself. i cant afford the AC30 at the moment and was thinking of geting the ac15 but didnt know if it was loud enough to practice with a full band unmiced and for shows. is it? another thing i wasnt sure about was it not having an fx loop. Do you run any distortions through it? i curently run everything infront of the amp and dont use the fx loop but thought i might need one later. last question is that the volumepedal jr.?
cobus sent me here too ! lol
woaw . . .these sounds make me feels like dreamming ! good work man !!
this is some beautiful music, well done
it sounds huge!
Hey Andy! So when you record and play these songs stereo, you have two mics going at the same time, one on each amp, right? How does this affect the recording besides two different tones and a "doubling" effect? Anything else it does? I really appreciate how open you are with your set up and approach man. It has been so helpful for me. Thank you.
This along with #13 are your best in my opinion! Keep it up!
@tubescreamer i think what he means is what setup you use on your delay, such as repeats, mode, rate/tap tempo, mix etc.
Oh and this is probably my favourite track of Ambient songs, along with track 13
thanks dude. :) and i will definitely do the berklee stuff, its just that now isn't the right time. :)
@BramVroy Thanks you! And no... there were no posteffects applied. :)
Chills down my spine... Great
i really appreciate this man... thanks a bunch!
I've just started messing around with doing some stuff like this, you really sound great. One question, do you have your tremolo before both your delay and reverb? I can't figure out where to place it in my line to get the sound I want..
