    the issue you are talking about is the what the linear wide angle lenses are doing. The gopro image is fisheye on the other hand. If you want wide angle it won't ever look good. It will be stretched on the sides or bent like on a barrel. Just the basics of photography. Can't say what I prefer, but I tend to say I hate fisheye rather than linear. If you want to limit those effects, just crop the image slightly. But of course you will loose a bit of quality and resolution

    Looked decent that did Dave, I’ll have to look at mine but I’ve only noticed that fish bowl distortion when it’s in the ultra wide setting and I stopped using it because of the fish bowl effect. Are you filming in D Log M? If you are I’d chuck an ND filter on it.
    Bostin audio though mate 👍🏻

      Not filming in Dlog, Frog or Snoop Doggy Dog. Didn’t change any settings from default. Recording with the mic with a fluffer on at the end of the vid was perfect. Really good mic that 🫡

    Great vid Dave and it’s good to see that you’re open and honest about the camera. Personally I can’t notice any difference, but I don’t have an eagle eye for that kind of stuff and also although I no you want the best of the best but the viewers and subs won’t be bothered about the edges. They are watching what you create and nothing else (if that makes sense)

    as for the camera If you hadnt pointed it out I would not have noticed. I watch biker vid as I ride looking in the distance LOL
    I bet when your editing them your looking at it from a different point of view also as you paid for them you want more out of it too I fully understand.
    the audio did sound as good as it normally did but I found if OK too.
    ps. hope to see you out on the july ride out just waiting closer to make sure I can go

    I just purchased this myself, if it’s in auto then the image quality doesn’t look as good as if you were to dial them in.
    I do agree that I’m not impressed with the quality when going past things, like shop signs and number plates look blurred sometimes unless I’m going quite slow.
    I’ve been doing a lot of testing with this camera, trying out so many settings.
    I’ll probably post something going over the best settings for motovlogging at some point, but you can definitely get better quality out of this camera.
    I think for the average viewer, they won’t mind or care about these minor details that we stress over 😅

    • @MotovlogUK
      @MotovlogUK  4 месяца назад +1

      Agreed mate. Average viewer won’t care. It’s just me. I expected the dewarp setting to have no fishbowl effects at all but it’s pretty bad across most of the image. I only get this in the GoPro when it’s in super wide setting. Wide or normal are pretty perfect on the GoPro

      @ReevyMotovlogs 4 месяца назад +1

      @@MotovlogUK yeah 100% especially when it says dewarp, you’re expecting minimal to none, it’s frustrating because it feels like you’ve been mislead and wasted hard earned money on a product you was expecting to be good.
      I mean it’s still a really good camera, but can totally understand your point.

    the image while riding lookerd good and the sound is good as well. almost no distortion or wind noise. It was not noticeable the edges were like fisheye view until you said it was. Maybe try what Moisty said... Good to see you in your new shape ( I notice your face even looks thinner now!) Good for you! See you!

    It is something that puts me off the DJI, I currently run a GoPro Hero 10, and love it. I record in Superview on bike and you get a lot of distortion from it, but it seems more linear in transition than the DJI in the equivelant fov, and the DJI footage is quite distracting because of it. It is much less of an issue in linear mode... or whatever DJI call it, but it crops more as it is a narrower FOV, which in turn makes the speed of the bike seem slower. I did similar experiments with FOV on a Drift camera vs GoPro a while back too regarding how slow a narrow FOV looks compared to a wide FOV.

    • @MotovlogUK
      @MotovlogUK  4 месяца назад +1

      GoPro imagery is far superior. Even my 7 black is better. The dji has a larger sensor but the same amount of pixels so the image will never be as good as the GoPro. I don’t understand the fishbowling though. It’s really bad but the GoPro in wide mode looks fine.

  • @Motourev
    @Motourev 4 месяца назад +1

    Yes I’m a GoPro user, guilty as charged but I’m not a GoPro fan! I gotta say these DJI cameras are awful. Your bike dash is perfectly in focus and looks crystal clear but the view ahead is so out of focus it’s like footage from the first Drift cameras. I’ve noticed on all the channels that are using them it’s the same the focus is very poor. Same with the rear view your can is perfectly focused but the bike behind you is a blurr. No where as good footage as your GoPro. Sadly it seems to have good quality you have to live with gremlins of the GoPro. I prefer the gremlins for better quality. Audio sounded good though 👍🏻

    • @acemiz2682
      @acemiz2682 4 месяца назад +2

      Then you want the ace pro because it’s extremely good at catching things from a distance but blurs upclose. Ace pro is more for the distant view but on the ace pro anything close like the when would blur and highlight more of what’s in the distance due to the big sensor it has so it’s literally about preference. I had a go pro 12 and send it back because it sucks in every single literal form of low light, even shade, it has to be 100 percent sun out for it to work fully in terms of video quality. And it sucks indoor too. I don’t need night Time low light right now but shade and indoors in good enough for me

  • @bingbong6127
    @bingbong6127 4 месяца назад +2

    There's really not much difference between GoPro footage and DJI in the standard colour profile. GoPro has a tendecy to highlight blue colour while DJI is more natrual. This ultimately comes down to preference. Edge distortion is similar although you will see a much more prominent edge warp on GoPro's as their cameras are famous for the fish eye affect. I would say the stabilisation is slightly better on the GoPro. The DJI does however have a significant advantage in low light scenarios because of the bigger sensor.
    The real aevantage of the DJI is the D-log M colour profile, you get far more detail, much better dynamic range but it does require you to have a "high end" editing software like premier pro or davinci resolve to actually get the most out of it. With the simple fact that if you"re gonna go that route you need a decent understanding of colour grading because the final result is almost entirely up to the skill of the user. I"ve seen some very good footage from people who know what they're doing and some absolutely horrendous footage from people that should just use the standar colour until they get decent at colour grading.

    • @MotovlogUK
      @MotovlogUK  4 месяца назад

      Nice one mate. As you can see though from my comparison, there is practically no edge warping at all on the GoPro. And it’s in a wider setting. I also don’t notice any fishbowl effect on the GoPro. Granted the DJI should be better in low light but the bigger sensor is using the same amount of pixels which gives a poorer quality image overall. I notice a lot of low definition on the dji. Agree with colour grading although you can do that on the GoPro too I think. Not me though I’m not smart enough lol. All this said though the DJI is a decent cam but GoPro wins hands down for me because of the DJI warping which is strange. That’s why I thought I might just have wrong settings? Anyhow I’m stuck with it so time to make the best of it

    • @bingbong6127
      @bingbong6127 4 месяца назад +1

      @@MotovlogUK the bigger sensor same pixel size gives poorer quality isn't true, it's a myth propagated by the advertisment of "megapixel" cameras on smarphones which are significantly limited to how big of a sensor they can fit into it. The truth is that the sensor has almost nothing to do with pixel or resolution quality, a bigger sensor means more light going into it, meaning better low light performance, less noise and more dynamic range.

    • @MotovlogUK
      @MotovlogUK  4 месяца назад

      @@bingbong6127 yup more light agreed but there are many other factors to consider. Rather than get into that, the footage clearly shows a poorer image in comparison with the other camera and the warping is very bad across the whole image. None of this happens on the older GoPro 7 even in its ‘wide mode’ so the GoPro is better overall imo.
