I've completely ditched my GoPros for the Osmo4. I'm super impressed with it's reliability. As long as you use a high quality microSD card, I have never had any issues. GoPros it's like a coin flip whether it works. I have three now 🤣
I have the gain set to -12dB for my DJI Mic 2 with the mic in roughly the same place as you have it. It helps enormously with the clipping, and using the dead cat eliminates almost all wind noise.
Thank you Lali, we are getting a new helmet from Revzilla, and feel the DJI with a wireless microphone is a good option. We will keep our helmet and GoPro set up for use and or a back up with our Rocket 3 GT.
You may want a purpose built motorcycle dash-cam instead, one made to accept rear view cameras and have wider field of view or a alarm function. Maybe would make good content for Lali in some future vlog.
I'm using the same DJI setup as you and I think it's great and I use it for motocross also. I think you need to turn the gain down 2 or 3 clicks and it should be awesome for you. I also use the DJI wrist remote to get GPS data and all three work perfectly together.
I've been motovlogging for almost 2 years now. You are actually the one that turned me on to the Movo ACM400 which is still my go-to microphone. Lol. Thank you
I just replaced my GoPro camera with an Osmo Action 4 and I'm very impressed. There have been only two disappointments so far: 1) There's no USB passthrough door available. I ride for hours at a time and want the camera to capture it all, so I ride with an external battery attached at all times. I'm concerned about rain getting into that USB-C connector without a passthrough door for the cable. 2) I am kinda bummed that the higher image quality options require using HEVC instead of h.264. I would have been really impressed if the camera supported h.265 and for all image quality options. I have the DJI Mic 2 on order right now and can't wait to get it connected to the camera so I can finally talk when I record! I lose so many ideas when I'm riding because I can't write them down.
Was just redoing my helmet motovlog setup... AGAIN! GoPro media mod issues (replaced like 3 of them), mic issues (lost count of how many mic's) and extra wires inside and outside the helmet. Just searched for bluetooth setup and found one of my favorite MotoVloggers, Loli, and impressed with the DHI Osmo and mic, after this video I added both the bluetooth mic and camera to my Amazon cart and can't wait to set it up. Thanks so much! Perfect timing for me!
I had the same issues with GoPro. Your comment was two months ago. Any update? I now have the Osmo and the DJI Mic 2 and I'm struggling to find a good mounting space for the mic inside the helmet to keep it wireless.
I actually love this setup I will be adding it to my wishlist an when I eventually get a motorcycle I will purchase thank you very much for the video! :))
Thanks for sharing your insights on the Action 4. I changed my mics from Purple Panda to MOVO thanks to you and I'm 1000% happy with the difference!!! 7:25 - You are not alone in this! I am always talking to drivers saying stuff like, "Don't you dare," or "Don't you do it," or "You better stay put."
I just switched over to DJI from years of using GoPro’s. Much better interface and value for what you pay for in my opinion with DJI. Wide angle also is better than the GoPro.
Well look at you, growing so fast that 100K is right around the corner! You have me window shopping for my next camera. I am still using my GoPro 3 silver, and will eventually get a better camera. It does not have any electronic stabilization, but the shaking does give it the earthquake visual. If I hit a hard bump, those watching the video may have sympathy pain for me... hehe Take care Lali, ride safe.
You'd probably be able to find some good deals now on the Hero 8 - 11 which work with the media mod and definitely have some better stabilization. I got my Hero 8 a while back on eBay used for ~$200 then I got the 11 a year or so later when I found another good deal and sold the 8
I have the Osmo 4 & mik 2 in my helmet but get terrible swoshing spatial sounds , you talked about everything apart from the actual Mic 2 settings , what levels are you using, gains ect ?
Hey Lali, when uploading in 1080 - youtube treats the file you upload with a Av1 codec. If you render your project in just a notch up, like 2560 1440 - the file uploaded will be treated with their vp9 codec - much sharper image. Try it next time - your video on youtube will look better than this one. Love your content! I myself here in Denmark is right now these days trying to do a video on the setup of DJI osmo action 4 with the mic 2 - my challenge right now is that i record very much on and off - ON the fly. I need to figure out how that is possible with have to turn on a mic also ontop of having to turn on and off the camera. I know the dji mic 2 has a auto turn off funktion after 15 minutes - so that will have to make do with what battery life is left with that solution :D
I retired last Monday and for my retirement present at dinner they gave me a hero 11. Never even thought about recording my rides. Might do my rides at rallies and fishing Bull Shoals / Norfolk Lakes.
Hey, great video! I think reducing the gain on the Osmo and making sure there are no onbstructions in front of the mic receiver might help cut down on some of the clipping in your audio. Maybe positioning it on the side, inside the helmet might help. Cheers, ride safe! :)
Something that might help the peaking is the included ‘dead cat’ wind cover. As the mic is very close to your mouth. Interesting to see an in action use!
Thanks for posting this, Lali! I just bought an older Osmo 3 for an upcoming trip. I've been considering ways to incorporate audio into my videos. I've been considering just plugging a Bluetooth dongle into the camera then using my Cardo headset but after watching your video I may pony up for the BT mic.
The Dji Osmo Action 4 it's amazing. The quality of the sound it's also incredible, congrats for the good review! Weird question: I see that you ride with glasses and I would like to ask if you do anything special when it's raining? I have pin lock on the helmet and it's fine but my glasses are always super foggy when it's raining and it becames dangerous and annoying.
hi, enjoying your review and I have a question. You mentioned you're recording in 1080p. RUclips limits the bitrate of 1080p videos to 12 Mbps (fast moving road and tree textures will suffer) while 4k video can be upto 68 Mbps. My question is, would it be better to record in 4K and upload to youtube in 4K, or record in 1080p and upscale to 4k afterwards to use youtubes higher detail rate?
I think the sound is terrible it is overmodulated some how so you must change the gain or some in the setting i think, i use the Røde Wireless 2 and the sound is perfekt. But a nice video and why is the GoPro blured out???
Since its a sponsored video, I can only assume having the device and the words GoPro plastered on the screen for like 80% of the video is probably unwanted.
Yeah putting it on the chin skirt may not be ideal either I will try it further in the helmet. As soon as I wasn't going as fast it sounded better so yeah probably the wind noise messed up that gain, always a trial and error.....
I've been using the DJI Osmo2 for a couple of years now on my helmet and love it! I want to upgrade to the 4 but honestly I never had a need to. But now that the 4 does wireless mic??? Hmmm...
Hi, I shifted from GoPro to Action 4 but observed that the ambient sound is too low on the Action 4. GoPro captures ambient sound better for me, did you also notice that on your videos?
You may have tried this, but the DJI mics generally come with dead cats that can reduce wind noise. When you were showing how you had the mic in your helmet you didn't have one on, so maybe it'd be worth experimenting. At least in my opinion, the audio didn't sound to great. Video was good though.
Well, Lali, I have been looking into upgrading from my older Hero3+. I think you just helped me make up my mind. 4k? Awesome...lol As far as the mic goes. You were getting some breath pop.
yea i swaped from the 8 with media mod and got a go pro 11 and took it back after over heating and lots of issues so went got a action 4 and never looked back and i use the wire on a mic and get great audio
I like your vid and the sound was fine, at least no popping and crackling. I like the way the helmet cam made the footage look, very smooth and wavy when you moved your head, cinamatic, is that the word, LOL IDK. I just bought and 11 hero too, jeez. My her 10 over heated in less than 20 minutes running it on the dash of my car today, wow. I'm over it...Once again, grea vid.
I read an article 2 years ago that Go Pro was falling behind and losing market share. I don't recall the article saying what brands were better. I see that many Mot Vloggers use Insta-360 , silly me , I thought that the Insta-360 was a Go-Pro model . Now I have to Google to verify that Insta-360 is a Competitor to Go Pro .. I have used my Go Pro Black 8 very little. Seems it turns itself off after 10 minutes. I need to read the manual I suppose. When you said the DJI Osmo Action 4 would use the Blue tooth Mic that you have in your helmet already like a Cardo or Sena. Then you said it will work with a Cardo but poor quality sound. Then you showed the $99.00 clip on mike that Osmo sells. As far as battery life goes .. I have three batteries and a charger that charges 3 batteries simultaneously.
@@AntiParallali I looked at the Insta 360 web site. Very cool but so much data usage. Lots of time to edit too I am guessing. Looks like it might use the same Battery as Go Pro Uses too. I ordered a GO Pro 8 and you can't change the Battery so I sent it back and got the Go Pro 8 Black that does have replaceable batteries. Seems the Model Descriptions on Amazon were not so good. I ordered some Chinese Dash Cam for Motorcycles Low Resolution and front and rear camera. Maybe I need to check and see if I didn't get ripped off from a scam as I never received it .
It's a regular GoPro mount plate glued on with sugru. But Chinmounts makes helmet specific mounts if you want a cleaner look. I think I have a link to them in the description and a discount
I think the mic sounded only OK. There was a little noise on it, but I'm not sure if was due to the mic/ bluetooth or was just positioning. To be fair, I didn't go back and compare it to your old mic setup. Mostly it sounded good, but there were a few pops/distortion on some of your words. Anyway, the video looked great and I'm glad to see a new video.
I agree but I think that's because I put it on the chin skirt and all the wind noise threw off the gain levels. I'll definitely vlog again with it in a different position
I am thinking of buying the Qsmo action camera. I have 5 Gopros two Hero 7's one has gone bad the other is inconsistent and three Hero 8's (one bought in 2021& two in 2022) all three Hero 8's have gone bad. I like connecting to an external power bank I keep on my jacket inside pocket so I am hoping I can do that with the Osmo
My biggest problem with GoPro is the freaking overheating. Due to that, I didn't record my only ~300feet bungee jump that I will ever make, due to the fact that I'm quite afraid of hights. IMO the price does not fit the quality for them. Was about to get myself an Insta 360 setup, till I read a bit more about DJI's Osmo Action 4. I also use the cam in my car and instead of using 2 cams, one with dual lense for front and back would be the best option. IMO I like the DJI's form better than the Insta 360. How reliant is it tho? Did you have problems with overheating, or corrupting files yet?
Did you have a chance to test the horizon balancing mode? My cameras don’t maintain a level horizon when rigging directly to the motorcycle. I think it fails when exposed to engine vibrations.
No I keep that off, I need the camera image to move when I move my head. Try turning on rock stready plus instead, that should get rid of all vibration issues
I tried to sync my Ace Pro to the Cardo and the resulting audio sucked. And, I could not have my phone synced at the same time to the cardo. All the music broke up.
Hiya! Im looking at purchasing this particular camera i have already purchased my chin mount for my helmet. If i just buy the standard combo will it just slide right on and away i go or do i need something extra for it to mount to the helmet Never owned a gopro/dji and sort of action cam so pardon the silly question
The magnetic clip that attaches to the DJI is what you need. I'm not sure if it comes standard in the box with the DJI. But once you get that it's compatible with every other generic and GoPro clips
Noob question here. Do you sync each camera before you start recording? It's perfectly seamless when you switch cameras during a video. The sound and video footage is perfectly in sync. So, is this done by connecting each camera so they communicate as one?
If we stop recording action 4 and resume with dji mic automatically connect to action 4? How long will dji mic 2 last Becuase we will not record all the time so every time we should switch off mic 2 or it will automatically turn off.. These are some of the cons over wireless
I've never tried that actually. But I don't know if you can hook up the Cardo to the Action 4. I think some people have done it with the Insta 360 latest camera models but I haven't heard anyone talking about it being possible with the DJI cameras
I just tried with the Ace Pro and you can sync to Cardo but then you can't have your phone connected to Cardo. It can't handle both and gets all distorted and choppy. I returned it and I'm trying this specifically because I didn't want that issue with my Cardo.
You don’t NEED the DJI mic. At all. Any standard USB C mic, or USB C to 3.5mm works right out of the box. Should probably make an edit to this somewhere, or a follow up video.
Very good initial review, thanks! With regard to talking to cars, ie. "stay....stay...." I do it all the time! but I disagree that it's like talking to a dog... dog's are much more intelligent! 😁 Ride safe!
Have been loving my action 4. GoPro just doesn't come close to the quality and ease of use. Not to mention that freaking giant media mod you HAD to use with GoPro which added such a bit of weight. I will say that the wireless mic option is great with the DJI but I swapped back to my wired purple panda to reduce the added weight and I can tuck my mic further back towards the cheek pad to reduce wind noise.
The Sedici Strada II, I did a more detailed review of it in my original motovlog setup video: ruclips.net/video/BCeyvBMi-C8/видео.htmlsi=2-9_WqYL1Oawr7W6
@ this comment I am strictly referring to the sound, as far as the cameras are concerned and how you manage to adapt them, I think it depends on each one. At the end of last year I found out about Movo from your videos, thank you for that. I recommend that you compare this clip with that one and be honest with yourself. I just have to thank you again. mmm... there is something else. Why don't you also have subtitles in Română ?! Again, thank you. 💪🏻😎🤟🏻🌏🌍🌎
Subtitles in Romanian: because 90% of Romanians understand English and I really have no time to quite go that far with the editing :P. Camera sound yeah it depends even on position of the mic inside the helmet. I think I might try to put the dji mic even higher up in the helmet so I get less wind noise rather than cliping it to the chin skirt
@@AntiParallali Thanks for the link. I saw that adaptor when I looked at the Camera, but there is no Description to tell you that it will work with Go Pro accessories. Some of the comments in the Reviews said it works with them.
What Happen with the Camera temperature in 4K 60 fps/wR.STEADY???? my camera so hot with this settings, and with 30mins. recording the camera Shutting down
Which camera, the GoPro? My GoPro heated up once before on a sunny day but it was only once in the year I've had it...but it was on 1080 60fps. The DJI hasn't heated up at 1080p 60fps but I didn't try 4k
Can someone answer honestly. Which is better video quality... Insta 360 one Rs with Leica 1 inch lense or DJI action 4.....opinions please. I just launched my channel with a GP7 😂 both these are mentioned cams are up second hand nearby... Ive no idea what best. Thanks 🙏 *CrapGame* 🎉

I agree. I've gone through multiple gopros and I'm loyal to DJI now. The osmo 4 is awesome!
Same. I kept them as display / decoration, haha.
I have the gain set to -12dB for my DJI Mic 2 with the mic in roughly the same place as you have it. It helps enormously with the clipping, and using the dead cat eliminates almost all wind noise.
Definitely need to try that

then definitely DJI, way cheaper...and great video quality even in low light

I bought 2 OA4 when it was released in August and it can handle cold winter days with no problem
Set the gain on the wireless mic to -12 to stop clipping, for a big improvement. Been using my Action 4 for several months now.
@@UpsideDownFork Agree. Need to turn the gain down on the camera as it's clipping in this vid.
I just replaced my GoPro camera with an Osmo Action 4 and I'm very impressed. There have been only two disappointments so far:

How reliant is it tho? Did you have problems with overheating, or corrupting files yet?
Video and audio are great, I can hear the bike to... what kind of phone mount do you use... as always, keep the rubber side down
I use Peak Design, if you can wait for a black friday sale it's worth it because they're expensiveeee
What mic are you using? I’m looking at getting this camera
Does the bluetooth mic work if you use the Quick Capture button or do you have to manually turn the camera on then hit record?
Which country is this. So beautiful!! First time watching for videos.
If i just buy the standard combo will it just slide right on and away i go or do i need something extra for it to mount to the helmet
Never owned a gopro/dji and sort of action cam so pardon the silly question
The magnetic clip that attaches to the DJI is what you need. I'm not sure if it comes standard in the box with the DJI. But once you get that it's compatible with every other generic and GoPro clips
@@AntiParallali thankyou!
What is the setup ? I mean how to attach the cam in manuber? How? What stick to used? Thank you
that huge stretch of road and no potholes. Man it really sucks in the UK
Which one is better for motovlogging insta 360x4 or action 4? Thanks
Great timig. I am looking to make this exact change. Moving away from Gopro 11 and 9.
It's definitely more affordable and less complicated than other setups
Noob question here. Do you sync each camera before you start recording? It's perfectly seamless when you switch cameras during a video. The sound and video footage is perfectly in sync. So, is this done by connecting each camera so they communicate as one?
The sync is done in post editing. I turn both cameras on, clap twice, then sync the audio claps in Final Cut
@@AntiParallali thank you. 😊
I use a DJI Action 3 with an external audio recorder because trying to get good audio with it is hard.
If we stop recording action 4 and resume with dji mic automatically connect to action 4?
How long will dji mic 2 last Becuase we will not record all the time so every time we should switch off mic 2 or it will automatically turn off.. These are some of the cons over wireless
Hi. Can you connect the Action 4 + Dji Mic 2 + Cardo?
I can’t figure out how to get the cardo audio to the action 4 through the dji mic 2
What are the best settings for Osmo Action 4 in low light?
You don’t NEED the DJI mic. At all. Any standard USB C mic, or USB C to 3.5mm works right out of the box. Should probably make an edit to this somewhere, or a follow up video.
Yes but the whole point is to eliminate the wires which can get disconnected if you bump them
DJI is killing it. GoPro is still good but their batteries suck 3 enduro batteries died on me in just 6 months (bloat issue)
Hi what is your settings on the osmo action 4 in this vid? Thanks a lot 😊
I left the default settings just filmed in 1080p 60fps
You shot this video with 1080 65fps. What color did you set this up, normal or d-log?
Normal color profile and adjusted colors a bit in final cut afterwards
Very good initial review, thanks!
With regard to talking to cars, ie. "stay....stay...." I do it all the time! but I disagree that it's like talking to a dog... dog's are much more intelligent! 😁 Ride safe!
is it possible sync the camera with a intercom via bluetooth?
Have been loving my action 4. GoPro just doesn't come close to the quality and ease of use. Not to mention that freaking giant media mod you HAD to use with GoPro which added such a bit of weight. I will say that the wireless mic option is great with the DJI but I swapped back to my wired purple panda to reduce the added weight and I can tuck my mic further back towards the cheek pad to reduce wind noise.
i dont know why i love you ,,
good vlog
According to you should I buy gopro hero 11 or dji osmo action 4 ?
Both are good, but DJI is easier and cheaper, I'd go with DJI until gopro gets their act together
Lali what is that helmet that you are wearing it looks like its some type of a carbon fiber helmet??
Yep Strada II linked in the description
@@AntiParallali i was not sure if it was the strada 2 or the new strada 3
Great Review .... thanks !
How do you mount your dji magnetic/clip thing to your helmet?
A J-mount you can find tons of them on Amazon/eBay basically a small piece of curved plastic, searching up "gopro j mount" should bring them up
How long does a fully charged DJI mic 2 last?
Like 16hrs or so
DJI action 4 is great. I use it
where do u buy the arm that snaps into the mount?
That's directly from DJI too they sell it. It seems like a proprietary thing for now
I'm assuming DJI made you blur out the GoPro on your handlebars to stay compliant for the sponsorship.
Yeeeep :/
Sorry, i know this is off topic, but what make and model helmet are u wearing in the video. Cheers.
The Sedici Strada II, I did a more detailed review of it in my original motovlog setup video: ruclips.net/video/BCeyvBMi-C8/видео.htmlsi=2-9_WqYL1Oawr7W6
@@AntiParallali Thanks for that, much appreciated
Excellent Lali 👍🏻😎😎😎🌶️🏍️
Mam Love from Bangladesh HILL Tracks I AM BUDDHIST biker my bike fz yamaha... I Am ur big fan always see ur video
What is that compass?
Great video
Can I use all of my Go Pro Mounts with the DJI Osmo Action 4?
You need this little adapter mount and then it will amzn.to/3QzBeaj
@@AntiParallali Thanks for the link. I saw that adaptor when I looked at the Camera, but there is no Description to tell you that it will work with Go Pro accessories. Some of the comments in the Reviews said it works with them.
Nice video⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟☀🔥🏍
Wish I would’ve saw this video before I bought my GoPro 😂❤
What Happen with the Camera temperature in 4K 60 fps/wR.STEADY????
my camera so hot with this settings, and with 30mins. recording the camera Shutting down
Which camera, the GoPro? My GoPro heated up once before on a sunny day but it was only once in the year I've had it...but it was on 1080 60fps. The DJI hasn't heated up at 1080p 60fps but I didn't try 4k
@@AntiParallali DJI
can you do another one in 4k please I just noticed that, I use for 4k for my 6 and 8 gopro so id like to that DJI in 4k please :) lol
Can someone answer honestly.
Which is better video quality...
Insta 360 one Rs with Leica 1 inch lense or DJI action 4.....opinions please. I just launched my channel with a GP7 😂 both these are mentioned cams are up second hand nearby... Ive no idea what best. Thanks 🙏
*CrapGame* 🎉
Been thinking about switching for a while 😮💨😭😭
Why does the footage while riding show your rear facing camera being extremelu blurry? It is insanely destracting.
Because it's sponsored by DJI and they don't want the GoPro logo
@@AntiParallali that makes much more sense. Thank you for the clarification because ngl it was making me think I wouldn't want it. 😆
Can I shoot in ultra wide fov in 1080p60 ?
Yep that's what I was shooting with here
