Well Lee. That’s probably one of the best vlogs you have produced. As someone who lived there for a while in the 70’s it brought back so many great memories. (Including sleeping on the Noddy Train because I’d lost my front door key🤦🏻) I hope people see what Nick is doing and will help him out. Thanks for the memories 👍🏻
This was the best of your videos that we’ve seen! Loved it! What an amazing chap at Queens Market with so many wonderful ideas and thoughts. So sad to see the Winter Gardens, what a beautiful building. The fairgrounds of this country whether fixed or travelling need to keep going for fun, community, memories as well as jobs. I hope these older seaside resorts start to become more popular again and are invested in. Thanks Lee, what a great video x
Being an old timer and having visited many of these seaside resorts in the past, it's a crying shame to see them in a rundown state. It's amazing how money can be found for "other" things, meanwhile our heritage is falling by the wayside!
If the natives were not so work shy and happy to live on benefits, there wouldn't be so many unskilled labourers given visas to fill in the shortage of the jobs, the natives are so reluctant to do.
Hope the guy gets the funding wot an amazing job he's done looks fantastic. The passion in his voice about what he wants to do to help the kids is amazing. Great video I remember morecambe well used to be a nice place to visit. I was surprised to see how things have closed and gone.
Lee, quite simply, the best video you have ever made. You did make me cry. I am about your age. I adore Scarborough, my family holidays were these places. Gt Yarmouth, days out in Skegness, Mablethorpe, Hunstanton and the rest. Posh Llandudno, and the elephant in the room, Ryle. What’s happened from our shared childhood? From your Cyprus videos, even abroad for UK holiday makers, destinations are showing worrying signs of economic collapse.
Quite agree with you Stuart, I have watched it for the second time, poignant , moving , sad .Lee has surpassed himself on this vlog , much as I have enjoyed most of them , this really is wonderful - look forward to him visiting other resorts.
What an inspirational guy, giving back to a community, trying to bring out the best, from the worst.....making people feel proud to be part of that town....Let's hope it raises the much needed financial support.
Thank you so much Lee for featuring Queen's Market in your video. The response has been amazing, I've read every comment so far 🙂 It was quite hard to watch as I believe this is what the outsiders impression of our great town is. As I said to you on the day - everything exists in the town to make it great. We just need to pull it all together and make the town the best seaside town in the country from which everyone goes away with a smile, even on a rainy day.
It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and you are an inspiration to the town of Morecambe. Can't wait to see it finished. Hope I get an invitation to the opening.
Wow, that guy is truly inspirational!! The Fat Cats in London have no idea about what’s going on outside the M25. What a guy and what a video you have uploaded again. Boom, yet another 1… Mac, you need to support this guy and update on his progress, bringing reality to your channel
On a school holiday to The Lakes in a hostel in the 60s, a treat was a day trip to Morecambe.Half starved, a mate and myself spent our last half-crown ( 12 1/2p ) in a restarant called The Fish & Chick'n , we had the best fish & chips we'd ever eaten !.Then a ride on a wooden roller-coaster , hot sunny day and heaving in August .So sad to see it like this 60 years later !.Great video Lee .
This guy is amazing, let's hope his enthusiasm spreads and breaths life back into the resort. If more people thought like he does ? We would see a big difference helping and developing run down seaside resorts, better to be positive, something seriously lacking in this country. Well done that man, and credit to you for bringing this to our notice.
Dismal you wouldn't have seen all the curry shops and chicken shops a few years back. Place would be bustling with nice people having a few days away in summer. Britain's becoming third world country
Another great video that gave a nice positive light to a place that is a bit run down in parts but has lots of good people in it. The man that owns the Queen’s Market has done a great job reviving that old building and was a great interview subject,as were the other’s Lee chatted too.The lady that sang did a nice job singing too 👌
Lovely to hear you mention the memories with your parents, I was very close to mine but Weymouth was our place 😍 happy days, clearly you had the best times there, sadly many seaside towns are in decline now, hopefully they will pick up in the future. x
The best part of this video was listening to Nick Smith talking about the restoration of the Queen's Market. So articulate and interesting as he was, one could make an entire video about his fascinating project and challenge.
Thank you for your kind comments. Funny you should mention videos of Queen's Market - I have been thinking all day how I can tell mine and the building's story through short films that I will post on the Queen's Market You Tube........
Talk about a trip down memory lane! I was brought up, originally at Carnforth then Bolton-le-Sands and, like you remember Morecambe being a lively and great resort. So sad to see how dilapidated it is now. Still you’ve still got those lovely views over the Lake District. What they’re doing to the old Palladium cinema is brilliant. Thanks Lee another excellent vlog. (P.S. Sent it to my brother in Oz as he was born in Morecambe.)
WOW!! I now live in Australia but during my childhood, we went every year to Blackpool (we were dirt poor!!) BUT one year we went to MORECAMBE. Cant remember much about it other than it was such a great place, much better than Blackpool. The man you heavily feature: He deserves a knighthood!! For one so Dyslexic, he has the most wonderful visionary speech. What he wants to do WILL hopefully revive the fortunes of MORECAMBE. QUESTION: Where is the flipping Local Council?? Why is this venture not supported. It’s almost CRIMINAL!! Love your videos. While you were in Australia, you should have come down to Hobart, Tasmania. One of the most BEAUTIFUL places on earth. A VERY underrated Place in Australia!! Best wishes, Trish 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thankyou for your comments, the project is known to all local organisations but because i am trying to do things differently they are not proppered to take a risk one mans big vision.
Hat's off. Proper travelogue. Great place, history and people. Really interesting. Kudos to Nick getting that community centre up and running. Very cool vid. Would love to see some more like it. Cheers.
Absolutely brilliant video Lee. You even interviewed one of my wife's former colleagues on the promenade. I think everyone is waiting for the starting gun for Morecambe. Once the Eden Project of the North is up and running, the town should do really well. Unfortunately no one is prepared to invest there just yet. It's a bit of a chicken and egg type scenario. The guy investing in the Queen's Market project has amazing vision and is extremely brave, in my opinion. I hope everything turns out well for him and his vision is realised. Anyway, on your trip to Blackpool, call in at Fleetwood and I'll show you round another down at heal seaside town with wonderful friendly people and I'll even treat you to fish and chips from my son-in-law's chippy.
Yes indeed Martin , a visionary as you say , his heart is in the right place and with plenty of imagination and thought for future generations. We need plenty more like him in many faded seaside towns .
Worth a visit on a warm summers day or during the Vintage Festival. The views are stunning and the sunset is beautiful. Not so much on a grey wet January afternoon 😂
Lee without doubt your best ever blog i have followed you since tenerife first time round during covid On this occasion you let the locals tell the storie more of this You travelled travelled the world but the most compelling story was on your doorstep ❤❤
What a wonderful concept from this amazing man! You can really feel his commitment to his vision. We stayed there on our honeymoon, and bought a wedding ring there, so I would have a Canadian ring and a British one.
The Albert Hall/ Queens Market guy was amazing!!! Wow!! How creative and community-minded. He is better than any celebrity in this world!! I'm in love with him!!
Bravo to nick ..same thing happened to our town iconic buildings flattened by the council ..want it to be a big car park.should make nick ,the priminster hes in touch with. Us common people. Great video.
Lee, I have often commented on your vlogs and want to thank you, for this particular one. I lived in Morecambe between 1967 and 1971, before moving to Manchester. You actually gave me a lump in my throat, with some of your coverage. My best friends family owned a restaurant on Northumberland Street, which I worked in during my school holidays, in 1973/74, it was called The Corner House Cafe and was always packed out. My friends grandad was the mayor of Morecambe and he actually opened Marineland, at the end of the stone jetty. I had a 30 shilling annual season ticket for the Super Swimming Stadium, which was the longest pool in Europe. The certificate for doing a length, was called a Blue Seagull. I was in Oliver at the Alhambra Theatre, which eventually was ruined by fire, the same day as the Moby Dick and West End Pier. Great memories and a big thank you to you.
Great video again Lee , it was sad to see what has happened to this town. Like many people.....stopping the English channel boat crisis might help. Charity should start at home , but unfortunately our Government's lack of compassion tells its own story. The man renovating the building ,.... absolutely brilliant project he has taken on, which will serve the local people well hopefully. I choked up a bit when you were talking about your Mum & Dad.....it reminded me about my own parents and all the happy memories that our family has had and they are totally priceless !!
Nick Smith from the Queens Market Project is the real hero of this video and of Morecambe. What an inspiration. The council need to be funding this without interfering in the process. If all your subcriber's just gave £1 each what a boost that would be!
Councils are the problem. They don't like people, only the money they can get from them. All of them destroy towns. It's people who make towns work. I live on the east coast and the towns are suffering from no investment. Great video Lee.
What a fantastic and very interesting vlog , hope you will make some more of these. What an inspiration that man is l hope his venture will be very successful
Victoria wood and Julie Walters used to go to lubin cafe back in the day , what a sad sight it has become 😔🇬🇧✌🏻 that guy who bought the market hall is what every British town needs 💯
Just stumbled upon your vid and am glad I did! Now subscribed. Sad to see Morecombe in this . I haven't been since I was a kid though. Nick is such a fantastic fella isn't he? All it takes is one person with a vision, and a bit of talent, which he clearly has in spades ( and buckets 😊) I'm heading over to the website and making a donation!
Another one of your very best video's, Lee. I've never been to Morcambe but I know it used to be a very popular seaside resort along with many others. It's a shame it's been allowed to get into such a state though, and kudos to the guy renovating the ex nightclub, what a nice guy and I hope everything in his vision for it comes to fruition. I love old buildings and think they should always be preserved where possible because nothing that ever gets built in their place would ever be as beautiful and are usually just cheap and nasty. Alas, the weather didn't help here either as nowhere looks great in dreary conditions.
Absolutely great memories of Morecambe when I was a kid, I remember specifically the Ferris Wheel at Frontier Land, My jaw just dropped to the ground when I seen the sheer size of it, it was huge. Very fond memories of the dolphin shows as well. It's sad to see Morecambe decline so much now, I'm surprised to see Southport in the top worst because that's a lovely place.
11/10 for what Nick is doing with the Queens market, Hope he gets his dream fulfilled, The beauty of Frontier land was that they weren't as strict on the height restrictions etc like pleasure beach was, What is it about you that you seem to attract the people that have had a bevvy or 2 ? Lol,
Hi Lee, emigrated to Oz in 74, ❤ obviously would never return to live. Watching this blog and one or two other blogs on ruined British cities, it just re- enforces all the reasons my wife and I left. My Dad who died in 1959 would shed tears if he could see what England has become. Bankrupt councils, aircraft carriers before hospitals, able to fly from Cyprus to Aden to bomb the Houthi. Talking about conscription now, leave off. The people are the salt of the earth but they do not have the power and never have done since 1066. Nothing will change , there will be no revival, no coming back, the country is broken and cannot be mended. Sad , but it’s only down hill from here. Good job on the blog , thank you. My wife and I watch every single one. As a Yorkshire man from the Wharfe valley we thank you
As a resident I agree Morecambe has really lost its way! Bought up in My mum’s boarding house we were always full and the town was buzzing! Gradual decline over the years when people started flying off for cheap holidays in the sun. When the smaller hotels couldn’t get the business a lot turned them into flats. I must point out though that you focused on central Morecambe and not up towards Happy Mount Park which is still a nice place and no seaside town looks good on the middle of winter on a wet Wednesday 😂
Really enjoyed this video found it very interesting ! And yes you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT government & council should be ashamed they have let it get so bad
Omg such an interesting video once you got into the former nightclub glad it’s been saved. Hoping him the best for the future. I love your videos normally, but the factory got into the history of Morecambe. I’ve never been there but now I want to visit there and especially going into the street food market. What a great idea helping the locals to help themselves you need more videos like this Lee come on
50 years ago my sister went here for her driving test, having failed elsewhere multiple times. She went in November and only saw one moving vehicle during her test! Needless to say she passed.
What an inspiration that man is, yes places like this are run down, but it’s the people who make the place special. I absolutely love what that man is trying to do. And good luck to him
Great vlog Lee. Blackpool Pleasure Beach owned Frontier Land and they pulled out as well as pulling out of Southport's Pleasureland. Such a shame. The polo tower (observation tower) originally from Blackpool stayed in place for a long time after the park closed as there was a contract with a phone company who had placed its transmitters on it. So it had to stay! PS I do have a log flume car from Morecombe and Yes its now an EV, it is converted to run on paths and it gets used on events (mainly in Blackpool) ;-) We went to Morecombe for the day when lockdown ended and loved every minute of it. Lets hope an investor injects some needed cash into this great seaside town. Back in 1994 Noel Edmonds tried to bring Mr Blobby land to Morecombe, but if failed. Such a shame. Fingers crossed it can change.
What a brilliant video! Yes, the town is decaying, but I think everywhere is going through this to at least some degree in these times of worldwide decay (I don't think it is just buildings that are decaying), but the beautiful memories of what the town used to be still live on in the minds of the people who either live there now, or once lived or visited there. It certainly made an impression for many and brought joy to all we heard from. I was fascinated with the building project you showed. There is so much creativity in it. I hope you get a chance to follow that up at some point, it will be wonderful to see the progress and keeping it in the public eye will be beneficial. I loved the positivity of it. You don't have to shine in the traditional realms of learning to be valuable. It is like when someone visually impaired develops super-hearing. Or when someone with dyslexia develops a super memory for places they have been once, so they remember the exact route to return there many years later. We all have something special to offer. I loved hearing the lady sing for us, thank you for sharing your talent. 😀 Wasn't it wonderful to hear all the happy memories everyone had from their childhood. I think Morecambe must have been an exciting place to be!
Great vlog! Brought back many good memories of my childhood and day trips to Morecombe. And what a vision that guy has for the old building....wishing him all the best!
Great vlog Lee, yes I remember Moracamby at its best too, in the 60's & 70's, the builder guys was amazing, what a credit to the town, was surprised you didn't remember Blobby land in Happy Mount park, was a total disaster and ruined the park, the council really need to get there fingers out & sort the place out 🤞👍
An amazing man wanting to give a hand up NOT a hand out to the next generation; just amazing lee to hear this man speak and the passion he has; would the kings award or duke of edinburgh help him with funding; really appreciate this video
There doesn’t seem to be anyone walking around anymore. No one seems to just go out for the day or afternoon. I think the “internet“ has changed everything! People are glued to their TV’s and cellphones. People just don’t get together anymore. It’s sad.
Visited Scarborough with the family for the day last June. First time I'd Visited. It was a nice sunny day, very busy, and we thought it was pleasant and we all had a great time. Well worth another visit.
A good man this man of Queens Market Company. Sobering video MacM. Borderline depressing watching on. In summer I found it to be passable. In winter it does like dire
Great insite to Morcambe Lee. What a place that guy is re building very interesting to see. Hope you go back further along!! Off to watch Blackpool now..
Thank God for people like Nick Smith of Queens Market. Positivity that is much needed. Good luck to him and those that support his efforts.
This restoration man needs a medal, and a lottery grant. Amazing bloke.
Brill, a great guy with great vision, I wish him well on his project. I hope The people of Morcome and elsewhere appreciate this man and his dream.
That looked dreary and very depressing. The result of the government taxing people into poverty?
The government would rather spend 3 billion looking after people coming over in boats than spend it rejuvinating broken towns Morecombe.
Exactly, it's own people are the last thought.
The people in these shitholes , voted for their stupid BREXIT via the Tories.
Stop crying , you brought it on yourselves.
@@greggreg9677it was in decline way before Brexit
If the natives were not so work shy and happy to live on benefits, there wouldn't be so many unskilled labourers given visas to fill in the shortage of the jobs, the natives are so reluctant to do.
Great video, all the best to the guy working on the queens market project.
Nick helps restore my faith in humanity. What an incredible human being he is ❤️
Hope the guy gets the funding wot an amazing job he's done looks fantastic. The passion in his voice about what he wants to do to help the kids is amazing. Great video I remember morecambe well used to be a nice place to visit. I was surprised to see how things have closed and gone.
What a visionary! I hope it goes well for him! Nick.
What a moving video. The council should be ashamed. The irony is the surrounding area is absolutely lovely.
Lee, quite simply, the best video you have ever made. You did make me cry. I am about your age. I adore Scarborough, my family holidays were these places. What an inspirational man Nick is. Bravo and I hope his project gets the funding it deserves.
What a great bunch of people. Best of luck to Nick. Such a shame for the town to be left like that. xx
Think I’d rather be in Paphos.
Joking aside, what a nice man that purchased that building. I do hope it does well.
This was as organic and random as it gets and quality content Lee 👍.
What an inspirational guy, giving back to a community, trying to bring out the best, from the worst.....making people feel proud to be part of that town....Let's hope it raises the much needed financial support.
Thank you so much Lee for featuring Queen's Market in your video. By far one of the best vlogs you have done, Excellent work Lee and hope to see more like this.
Lee just finishing watching this video and it maybe the best one yet ! Seriously top shelf footage etc
That humble guy doing the renovation should start a go fund me account get him a helping hand
He said in the video he had a go fund me page

Such a shame its🎉 not just seaside places it's everywhere , our UK is btoken
Yes only us to blame because we have allowed for it to happen
UK is a foreign country to its inhabitants.
Dismal you wouldn't have seen all the curry shops and chicken shops a few years back. Place would be bustling with nice people having a few days away in summer. Britain's becoming third world country
too many weak “broken” posts. Should never give on anything
Beaches at Dover seem popular?
Another great video that gave a nice positive light to a place that is a bit run down in parts but has lots of good people in it.
The man that owns the Queen’s Market has done a great job reviving that old building and was a great interview subject,as were the other’s Lee chatted too.The lady that sang did a nice job singing too 👌
Nice to see providing a more positive video - loved the guy refurbishing Queen’s centre. Nice to see someone making a positive step to improve things.
Morecombe..run down like everywhere else..brocken britain 😮..benidorm everything kept up to..as u well know.
Lovely to hear you mention the memories with your parents, I was very close to mine but Weymouth was our place 😍 happy days, clearly you had the best times there, sadly many seaside towns are in decline now, hopefully they will pick up in the future. x
I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this video after watching most of your other work over the years. How wrong I was, a great piece of work.
Thank You.
The best part of this video was listening to Nick Smith talking about the restoration of the Queen's Market. So articulate and interesting as he was, one could make an entire video about his fascinating project and challenge.

Exciting !! In Morecambe tourists queue to watch the traffic lights change colours 😂😂😂
Amazing, the guy that saved the building and it’s history!
I'm sorry Lee, but Nick is the absolute star of this one!! What an incredible bloke he is. I'd love to see his dream come to fruition.

One of your finest vlogs this Lee. Real quality relaxed work. Well done m8

Everywhere looks worse when it’s cloudy, wet and windy.
Go back in July when the Sun is shining
Friendliest seaside town in the UK going off this video 👏👏👏
You nailed it - Salt of the Earth!
What a fantastic and very interesting vlog , hope you will make some more of these. What an inspiration that man is l hope his venture will be very successful
What a great job he did with the market. You can see what a state it was in on my own video of Morecambe from 2020.
What a fantastic guy from the Queens Market!
I hope it turns out to be a huge success for him and Morecambe.

Thank you for your words and your kind donation will help build Morecambe back up.
This is great Lee, you need to do more history videos now and again. Very informative.

It's sad to see Morecambe decline so much now, I'm surprised to see Southport in the top worst because that's a lovely place.
one of your nicest and thought provoking videos..should be interesting to see what you think of my seaside town Southport 😉
So many places in the UK are like this sadly. What has gone wrong with it all? Thanks for the vlog Lee xx
I must point out though that you focused on central Morecambe and not up towards Happy Mount Park which is still a nice place and no seaside town looks good on the middle of winter on a wet Wednesday 😂
what a brilliant man you have met, hats off to him, his passion to help the youth is outstanding
One of the best vlogs I have ever watched you have nailed it keep up the good work
What a brilliant video!
Wasn't it wonderful to hear all the happy memories everyone had from their childhood. I think Morecambe must have been an exciting place to be!
Councillors in general are only interested in their own little vanity projects and not the people they represent.
Unfortunately you are right.
We all must think long and hard prior to voting for these people.
@@markstarmer3677Unfortunately, all the potential winners are already in the pocket of deeply unpleasant organizations. One world government people.
Great vlog! Brought back many good memories of my childhood and day trips to Morecombe. And what a vision that guy has for the old building....wishing him all the best!
I'm sorry Lee, but the expression "you can't polish a turd" springs to mind after watching all those scenes of dereliction.
Great vlog Lee, yes I remember Moracamby at its best too, in the 60's & 70's, the builder guys was amazing, what a credit to the town, was surprised you didn't remember Blobby land in Happy Mount park, was a total disaster and ruined the park, the council really need to get there fingers out & sort the place out 🤞👍
Nick is a hero for what he's attempting to achieve. Shame he stands out for wanting to improve Morecombe and it's young people.
A very enjoyable experience and enjoyed the people interacting with you.
Jesus Lee, I’m no snob mate but what a dump!
If that was the best I could do for a family holiday, I’d stay in my back garden!😬😩
Love Morecambe and Heysham going in 3 weeks caravan for 4 days. What a superb documentary and great guy with a vision. Superb.
Yeah I agree with everyone else Lee, this is one of your best videos! ❤ it's so refreshing to see genuine passion/authenticity from people!
Wow fantastic that vlog was one of your best yet.
Save our towns &
Save our Great British pubs.
The best video you have done, well presented and professional
It is brilliant 😊
Great insite to Morcambe Lee. What a place that guy is re building very interesting to see. Hope you go back further along!!
Off to watch Blackpool now..
Well done with the Dave and Alan interview it was like an echo in the background....😂
Great vlog, really enjoyed it. Such positivity from the locals let’s hope it gets funding in the future and it builds back up.
Lee, you're going on full Charlie Veitch in Piccadilly gardens with those 2 lads 😂
Really enjoyed this video and the people were so nice. Great to see a man with a vision for the town too
Totally agree in summer there’s no better place to be and that’s me living in Perth Australia 🤙
Another great video again , this was one of my favourites brings back many memories of past times , keep them coming Lee
Like most of us older folk, our happy childhood places are nothing but memories.. it is so sad. Great blog BTW. Moving...
I loved this. It's not the usual slating of a town. You're showing the good. And the bad. But promoting it too. Brilliant.
