- I visited a car dealer in Birmingham , all was good and I was about to leave when the sales manager spoke to me and wasn't happy at all. I agreed to go back outside and do the drone and leave. Then all hell breaks loose.

Yes.. you can legally enter and film without permission. Is doing so provocative.. yes, it is. That's really the crux of this - will they or won't they take the bait. Failing to identify yourself or your intentions (clearly) is discourteous, confusing and misleading. As far as these people know, you could be acting on behalf of a rival company looking for ways to discredit them. You're catching people cold, aggravating them with a passive / aggressive engagement style and making entertainment of them! 40 years in the game suggests they're a legit outfit. Your initial footage didn't identify cause for suspicion. 40 years building up a business and you've tarnished their reputation.. for what? For maybe just behaving protectively towards their business?

There was a car dealership that used to do this kind of thing near me., well it was on a side road next to the dealership. Interestingly the dealership stopped storing cars there when the side road became a cycle lane.

Ultimately these guys do not go "filming footage" they go out to irritate people and then when someone rightfully gets irritated, suddenly they are the enemy. The goal is to make sure somebody is irritated otherwise no views, no point. Waste of staff's time from the dealership, waste of police time, all for views, Crazy! Would love to see these "auditors" have businesses and some guy turns up with a camera filming stuff left right and centre, you don't know if they are filming sensitive stuff (document etc.) and where that footage goes. If this was about "filming", permission would be asked first, this is all about causing people stress and then acting like the auditor is the victim.

I hope the business pursues legal action, as it appears that privacy and defamation laws may have been violated. Such behavior is reprehensible.

I would agree tbh. I can understand the film makers intentions, but it's a bit off antagonising people for the sake of it. And it is for the sake of it, because the manner in which it's done is unnecessary. There's an unjustified smugness to the film maker which ruins any journalistic credibility that the video potentially has.
Go in, film some bits if you like, make a report and make a good video from it. But the manner in which it's done is, for want of a better word, cringe.
