Michael, I did come for the photos but def stayed for Max! I had a rescue named Max and he was the best companion ever. You two are lucky to have each other.I have to say, I love your vlogs. Besides the quality photos in and around the Bay Area and all the other places you travel to, there is always one thing that stands out to me. You are one of THE only RUclips photographers, that don’t always talk about your equipment. I am so tired of hearing about what this person just bought that’s the latest and greatest. Instead, you inspire me like no other. What makes you stand out, is you just concentrate on the images and experiences. Not only that, you really do enjoy just being out doing what you love and it shows through every bit of footage you produce. No wonder you are one of the best RUclips story tellers out there and the fact that other content creators, talk about you, watch your content and post comments on your videos here. The all need to take a page from your book and realize that this is what makes you so special. You are one of the reasons I still watch these photo vlogs on RUclips, and I thank you so much for sticking with it.
Michael - wonderful feeling about your videos - you have a compelling thoughtful tone not only in your images but your voice and your calming manner. Thank you - you have inspired me.
hi Michael as always nice videos my favorite is the 2nd from the last, Max is a beautiful dog he is so good, also love your voice is so soothing, hope you and Max had a wonderful walk.....
I started running film through my variety of film cameras a year ago. For me, not replacing digital, but when I want that different vibe, both in look and shooting, its all about analogue. I have very much enjoyed my step back into my early beginnings as a photographer in the 1980s.
Awesome video and so relaxing Michael! Your photos got me into photography over 6 years ago now and I'm glad to see you still so passionate. When you're in San Diego again I hope I bump into you!
Great video Michael, I just put some Ektar 35mm in both of my old Nikon's, fantastic images and it looks like you and Max had a blast, thanks for sharing.
I just loved this… again! Beautiful tones and colour and interesting compositions; some real winners in this set imho. There is something magical about the texture and apparent ‘feel’ of these film images. Please keep posting film based vlogs as well as your digital work.
I still have my FM almost 40yrs later and the release cable Unfortunately the 50mm lens has developed fungus but I have medium and telephoto zooms which I bought in the early 90's I can't really see my self going back to film. It's too much hassle for inferior results to digital in my openion
Such a cool area. I might just need to take a trip there myself. I'm only about an hour's drive from the reserve. Oh, and you're going to regret including Max in the video. He needs to be a requirement in every video now. lol
Great video and great photos. I was going to ask you where you developed and scanned your film. I just did a quick check out of Legal Photo Lab and they do b&w film as well. That'll fit my needs as I love b&w. I'm also seriously thinking of shooting some film lately. People are talking about how light a mirrorless camera is nowadays but it's still not as light as my film camera 😁 I like your beach shot from above the cliff where the waves were coming in with the surfer standing in the middle. Keep up with the good work.
I use the meter in the Nikon FE camera, then I spot meter for the shadows generally :) I am still playing around a bit to see what gives me the best results though.
@@jorgeflores9714 I use a phone app called "Light Meter" (Android) for metering, it also has a spot meter built in. Generally I found pointing it at the darker areas and avoiding the sky is good enough to get a good exposure in most situations with negative film.
Bro, you should make some more videos about film photography. I'm so in love with this
Def. top 5 film video of all-time. Love it.

You're so gifted, Michael - you can simply life your dream. Congrats, and all the best for your photography.
Your videos always entertain and inspire me to grab my camera and go out and take pictures.
Really nice video! Thanks. Nikons rule! I shoot with my Nikon F, with the Ftn photonic prism head (1972 model year).
Amazing photos/video comentarry as always! I also enjoyed the additional feature of Max :D
The photos, the music, and the voice...tranquility at its best!
Max is super talented!! To find out such beautiful compositions is no easy job, but Max did it flawlessly.
Love the trees. Love Max. Love your videos. I learn so much.
Great images and a very relaxing video! PS more film please
What is Max a sweet dog and some photos are really beautiful! Nice vlog!
amazing works! especially @11:30 lovely nature photos!
Nice peaceful video with some beautiful photos. My favorite is the one of the waves with the little red stars from sunshine.
San Diego is an incredibly target-rich environment. I love it every time I visit. Love to see more from your trip there.
gorgeous images!
Wow! Absolutely superb shots! In fact, “less sharp” is better - just right amount of detail. Great compositions.

As someone who grew up with film, I enjoy watching your film journey.
Nice ASMR too!

wow, each photo was stunning. I realize I have been missing a 100mm lens.

That’s so awesome to hear Jordan, thank you so much! Keep in touch, hit me up via email, my social accounts get pretty bogged down.
You got some really beautiful shots there... but Max is stealing the show! Thanks for sharing... that was great ;)
Love max I have a Roy and Bella
Idk why but that first street light photo reminded me of Goldilocks and the three bears. The yellow color with the 3 heights of the posts
Hey Max! 👋 lols lots of great images, a few favs and enjoyed the adventure 😍👍
Great video Michael, I just put some Ektar 35mm in both of my old Nikon's, fantastic images and it looks like you and Max had a blast, thanks for sharing.
What camera did you use for the 35mm photos in this video?
Great shots!

Just lovely video! Do you post process these images in any way?
Wonderful images! Love the calm vibe. Which Nikon film camera are you using, if it’s okay to ask? Thanks.

Nice calm video perfect to watch on a sunday on the couch.
Can't wait to see your Madeira footage though 😅
I am so excited to go through that footage, thanks so much!
I like this vloging style.
Greets from Berlin, Germany.
Lovely would see a milky way Video on your channel:)
Half way through the video and so inspiring man! Just want to leave work to go shoot! Keep doing what you do Michael! 👊🏽

Thanks for sharing, excelent video. What do you use to measure the light?, just the exposure meter of the camera?. Grettings from Chile
I use the meter in the Nikon FE camera, then I spot meter for the shadows generally :) I am still playing around a bit to see what gives me the best results though.
and thank you!
@@MichaelShainblum Thank you for answering, my camera exposure meter is not working properly, I am looking for a suitable spot meter

@@RFranks Thanks
What are you using to scan your film? The resolution looks amazing
Thanks so much! I have the film lab I use in the description, check them out! :)
Is Max's favourite film T-Max 100 ? 🤣
Your video was better than expected. Usually film photography is inferior to digital and quite boring. You exceeded my expectations. Nice pooch!
