As for the last two images: I personally prefer symmetry in photos where possible, and the inclusion of a human element made it all the more interesting. Thank you for sharing your creative experience in the foggy woods. 🙏
Shooting film is definitely a different and special experience compared to digital. This past year, I have enjoyed mixing in medium format 6x6 film into my shooting workflow. Shooting film makes you slow down and really think about your comps and overall creative choices before clicking the shutter. The look of film is also different than digital; a smoother more refined look.
The symmetrical photo was nice, but I audibly wowed at the first tree picture. I immediately thought it looked like an open left hand grasping at something. That was definitely my favorite.
I love that you showed the process. So many other youtubers will just show videos of them walking around and snapping the 'perfect shot' every time. But it really is a process with a bit of problem solving and (sometimes) guessing involved. Beautiful video. Thanks!
Hello, Master! Fantastic atmosphere in the video!!!!!! I like the second photo (with the man) I like it better. It brings the picture to life. Best regards: Dr. Zoltán Dobány, Hungary
Very, very nice images. I know it’s hard to say, looking at digitised images on an electronic tv screen, but i do love the look of film, just seems something different about it; calmer and less overblown than much of the (over processed?) digital photography so common.
Great video. Absolutely love the fog! I'm headed to SF tomorrow for a week. I hope I get some fog too in my landscape photos. As to your question on composition. I actually like the symmetrical photo with the random person directly between the trees. Great way to turn something unexpected into something fantastic!
Loved your video, the beautiful images you captured and seeing how you go about the process of capturing these beautiful scenes. This video was so refreshing to see. Loved the image with the person in it.
Great shots, man! I like the symmetrical shot with the person. I'm not a huge fan of people stepping into the frame either, but this one works well and gives a sense of scale too. You can almost feel that disappointment when they couldn't see the bridge.
Great video, Michael. Nice to see you shooting film. You got some very nice photos there, but the one with the person between the trees are my favorite.
Looked like you enjoyed your self , a very beautiful and interesting woodland and a nice haul of images , nice to see someone put a 35mm on tripod for once .. well done staying true to the format and not cropping,
Exactly. Myself I use my 35mm and medium format camera on tripod, cable release mirror lock-up, etc..and more importantly, Patience, just as I would use a large format camera.
You make that fog look so good, Michael! Also, I can't believe you're only wearing a short sleeve shirt out there...I'm freezing just looking at you! haha
The fog adds a sense a magic and mystery; I'm in the Coos Bay OR area and yesterday the marine layer moved onto the coast. Lovely fog.! I liked your photo with the person in the center, a very wonderful symmetrical and framed image
I love the photo with the person in the center, what a beautiful composition! And now I am inspired to load some film into my old camera and see if I remember what to do with it. 😉
I liked the symmetrical one with the figure for the scale. Continue doing these film photography videos they are interesting and give your channel an added dimension. Been getting back into film photography too so nice to see others doing the same.
It's always hard to choose a favorite of your images Michael! Regarding the photo with the person, the fact that you didn't stage them to be there makes the image more real and special. Sheer dumb luck is one of my favorite photography guidelines!
The last two shots, I liked the image w/o person, the one w/ person looked empty on the left, maybe a portrait mode here would have solved that empty left hand side for me. But it’s been great to sense the “filmic” side of things w/ you. I like the other shots alot, what a nice opportunity you had to play. Always love your videos.
We used to develop our own black and white but not color. I would love to see a video on your friend's process for developing color. By the way I love both those images. Thank you for sharing!
I see now why you have over 80k subscribers Michael .. your approach is super relaxed , humble , super chilled and not over the top like a lot of RUclips bloggers out there ! Good stuff mate 👌🏻👏👍
Blade Runner vibes @11:11> I know this vids 2 years old, but RUclips's hammering me w Nikon film content as I searched for an old lens and and old body recently :)
Definitely like the more symmetrical/ person image. Really nice. There is such a nice rendering of the images using both older optics and the softness of the fog. Fog seems the perfect thing to shoot on film, because you do not want extreme sharpness. Maybe I should get my 40 year old Minolta XGM out of the closet and shoot a roll!
I think as others have commented that the photo with the person is the best. I shoot a lot of film because I like the process. My favorite format is 4 x 5 but I also do medium format and some 35mm film. I develop the BW film myself but don't do darkroom printing anymore. I use a hybrid process where I scan the negatives. I appreciate digital and my digital cameras but there is just something about the film process that appeals to me. Nice video. I love that park, I wish there were an easy way to get to it when I'm in SF. I don't like renting a car because the SF traffic is just too intense for me and when I'm there I just like to enjoy the experience. Driving in SF or LA is not fun!
Fog and film seems like a really nice combo. The photo with the person lined up with the tress is really nice! Do you scan these to get digital versions?
Nice video! Thanks for taking us along with you on your landscape photoshoot and explaining your process. Very nice photography! I love shooting film. One of my film SLRs is the Nikon F with the Ftn photomic prism head. I really like the person standing between the trees photo. Seems to add something special to it! I do the same in my landscape photography if there is an opportunity.
Here's my vote for the symmetrical one. Even though I like the asymmetrical one as well and don't usually like people in my shot. Go figure... My guess is I like the person because they're basically just a silhouette, so just a graphical element, and because the trees are such a lovely frame. But that's just a quick guess. I should give it more time. Thanks for another great video!
I like both frames, but the one with the person in the center I like just a bit more. For one, it puts the presence of a grown human being into perhaps the proper perspective, and in this time when humans seem to be affecting the natural world more than the other way around, I thought it to be beautifully instructive. I also liked how your feelings about the sudden entrance of the people shifted from mild annoyance to the wonderful realization that your composition was improved. This is part of the mysterious, but incredibly rewarding aspects of what happens when the photographer slows down enough to allow the frame to finish composing itself...anyway, thanks for this very enjoyable and informative video...
Very nice Michael! I've been looking forward to this video. Great last image. I always feel humans can really add to landscape images. I'm jealous of your friends Pentax 67.... ask him to lend you that too 😃😃😃
I enjoy the frame with the person in it. It just was a better finish for me.
thanks!
Same here
Wow. I honestly got kind of emotional when you showed the image of the people perfectly framed by the trees. What a beautiful shot!!
Thank you so much Nick!
totally
I like trees too! Especially in fog! Great video mate.
Thanks man! :)
So do i, it's just that usually there's no fog, when you've got the time to be into the woods here...
At 12:00. Both are excellent. They each have stand alone qualities of their own. Nice...really nice. Thanks.
Both images at 12:02 timestamp were beautiful. In fact all images were so beautiful. Invokes the mood of mist so perfectly. Excellent!!!
Not gonna lie, I became frustrated for a sec there but damn. That person just took the photo to a whole other level.❤
eheh
Love and like the calmness of your storytelling…nice shots…
As for the last two images: I personally prefer symmetry in photos where possible, and the inclusion of a human element made it all the more interesting. Thank you for sharing your creative experience in the foggy woods. 🙏
My two favorite things, fog and trees. The image at 11:12 is stunning. Great video! Edit: There are so many stunning images.
I like the one with the person between the trees. Very impactful to me, added with the mystique of fog.
The fog really works wonders with film - These are all so great.
You brought back happy memories of my days with film. My favourite of the two final shots was the symmetrical one with the lady in it.
The last shot with two frame in frame by trees and a person stand between is very gorgeous. I love this. Very Inspired
Thanks so much!
Thanks!
Now that took me back 50 years or so Michael. You did a great job too. the shot with the person was outstanding mate.
Very nice work. I too love to shoot in the fog. I shoot digital, but my real love is film. Thank you for all your work.
Well I think these two can’t live without each other.
Hello, Master!
Fantastic atmosphere in the video!!!!!!
I like the second photo (with the man)
I like it better. It brings the picture to life.
Best regards:
Dr. Zoltán Dobány, Hungary
This is my favourite work you have done on 9 years, I feel like I have been following you for 9 years
I’ve got a favourite dead tree I drive past every work day. I’m waiting for a foggy day to shoot it. Love your work.
that sounds fun!
Very, very nice images. I know it’s hard to say, looking at digitised images on an electronic tv screen, but i do love the look of film, just seems something different about it; calmer and less overblown than much of the (over processed?) digital photography so common.
8:21 Love it
Thanks so much man, glad you dig it!
The human element one is the best. I love shooting film because I have to wait to see the results.
Need to ask my father to lend me his old Olympus OM-2 again. Really enjoyed this nice, calm mood you were able to capture.
I enjoyed watching this video much. You should really shoot more Film, Michael.
Great video. Absolutely love the fog! I'm headed to SF tomorrow for a week. I hope I get some fog too in my landscape photos. As to your question on composition. I actually like the symmetrical photo with the random person directly between the trees. Great way to turn something unexpected into something fantastic!
Awesome! More film please! Love your work and always wondered how it would translate to film. Not disappointed in the least.
You can almost feel that disappointment when they couldn't see the bridge.
absolutely
keep these film photography vids coming. gorgeous compositions!
yes!
Great video! Time for me to get a 35mm camera. Thanks for the inspiration.
Gorgeous work. Thank you for capturing the raw emotion of film photography.
With film, when in doubt, always overexpose. Fantastic pictures and welcome back to the dark(room) side.
Love the comp with the person. But there were some awesome leading lines as well. Great video as always.
Great video, Michael. Nice to see you shooting film. You got some very nice photos there, but the one with the person between the trees are my favorite.
I do love the symmetrical composition.
thank you!
Great video, I kind of miss my old Nikon film bodies now. I like the symmetrical comp. with the figure.
I also like the one with the person. Perfect!
The one with the person is fantastic! Foggy forest street photography
Looked like you enjoyed your self , a very beautiful and interesting woodland and a nice haul of images , nice to see someone put a 35mm on tripod for once .. well done staying true to the format and not cropping,

11:20 thats just wow. love it!!
Fantastic photos! I like the colors and composition, I really like the Last photo.
How perfect the way that person walked in! Probably even better as a 1:1. Awesome location. Beautiful shots. 👍🦘🇦🇺
I love the photo with the person in the center, what a beautiful composition! And now I am inspired to load some film into my old camera and see if I remember what to do with it. 😉
"I like trees. Trees are pretty cool." I could not agree more! Excellent video and photos!
Thanks so much David!
Really lovely shots. I really enjoy shooting film
Recently found your channel and you're already my favorite landscape photographer on RUclips! Your images are so beautiful and inspiring for me!
Outstanding, Stellar segment, Five stars and then some. I have gone back to shooting 120 mm film and enjoying the process very much
Both are good but I think the one with the human element takes it to the next level! Great job!
Human element for sure- I love fortuitous “accidents”
I liked the symmetrical one with the figure for the scale. Continue doing these film photography videos they are interesting and give your channel an added dimension. Been getting back into film photography too so nice to see others doing the same.
I've just started shooting film a couple weeks ago and I really enjoyed this video. Great work!
I loved this video and the pictures were amazing. Great work
It's always hard to choose a favorite of your images Michael! Regarding the photo with the person, the fact that you didn't stage them to be there makes the image more real and special. Sheer dumb luck is one of my favorite photography guidelines!
Thanks so much, agreed! :)
Mate, get yourself one of them things. Photos looked great! The one with the person in it being the one I liked the best.
The shot with the human in the scene wins for me !! Great adventure friend
Beautiful. You always inspire me to try different ways to take photos.
I love the last photo with the human element more than the one without but I have to say there both spectacular

definitely the human element to the photo . 100%
Beautiful, loved it
The image with the human element was so good
What an absolutely beautiful spot and the images came out perfect I love it !

Merci beaucoup.
The 105mm lens is a classic. I have one. I need to get the Nikon Z fc to mount it on. 😍
Definitely like the more symmetrical/ person image. Really nice. There is such a nice rendering of the images using both older optics and the softness of the fog. wow, incredible work.
Half box speed meter for the shadows always! You can't fail
Awesome video and photographs 😍
You're becoming one of my favourite youtubers now! 😬
Thank you so much!

Really nice captured and video. 👌👏👏👏
Compositions with fog are very rare in SoCal, where I am. I love the frames that you shared!
I liked the more symmetrical photo, however all were really good. Great video!
Very Inspiring Shots …
Nice Work
Fog and film seems like a really nice combo. The photo with the person lined up with the tress is really nice! Do you scan these to get digital versions?
Indeed, Joe scanned the film so that we could have tiff files to work on.
What a great video! You make editing look effortless! You even had a shot through the lens ☺️
Nice video! Thanks for taking us along with you on your landscape photoshoot and explaining your process. Very nice photography! I love shooting film. Composition with random human all the way. Love that image.
Just summet about film photography.Nice vid..
Always always love the human element. 👍🏻

Haha he would probably be down for that. Thanks so much!
I apologise for not being able to express how grateful I am for your work in words !
Keep shooting man !
Thank you so much man, your support means a ton! :)
Great video ! Perfect film photography walk 😉
That atmosphere! 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome video. I do prefer the image with the person in. As you say it provides a sense of scale.
