Thank you for watching! :)
the thumbnail goes so hard
Bro thought he was the main character
its karsten everything goes so hard
Somehow it reminds me of Goodfellas. There's this cool shot of Ray Liotta in the movie, leaning against his car outside a diner, wearing a grey suit with a black shirt. Bit of a different demeanor, but I was reminded of this.
one of his best
No it don’t lol
Love the zoom into the cat at the close!
You should watch Dupieux previous work because it give more sense to Deuxième Acte which is a really meta movie
You didn’t watch All We Imagine as Light?
instructions unclear, I went to the East Los Angeles International Film Festival instead.
No Anora?
Artsten Vibequist
where the hell is anora
BUT HOW DO WE GO TO THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL????
You have to get invited. So you need to become a critic or reviewer or actor or something
@@alihassan-ve3hwcan’t normal people go?
@@andrearr215yeah but it cost a decent amount and I think they do have a limited amount of tickets they sell
@@andrearr215 you can apply for the three days in cannes accreditation if you’re aged 18-28! you have to write a letter of motivation and pay some amount of money though. you can find the info about this on their website :)
Look up the 3 days in cannes youth program!
This is not the video that the title and thumbnail is suggesting. This is just a review of all the Cannes movie you've seen this year, wich is also something I would have clicked on if that was the title. But I hoped to see a video where you explaind how you get in the festival, and how it is actually like to watch movies there. Also the practical information like cost and getting tickets. I dream to actually go to a big film festival one day, like cannes or Toronto and need a video of someone with experiance to explain how it's like and if it's worth it and how I can get into it if I'm not a notible reviewer like you.
no you're right
Yes. I appreciate the review but I wanted to actually know how to go :,)
In short you either have to be part of the industry, press, or apply for the 3 Days in Cannes accreditation 😊
my thoughts exactly. bit misleading Karsten!
You can get a 3 day pass if you are 18-28, look up Cannes accreditations there’s lots of info on their website
you're 100% correct about Fury Road's VFX looking better than Furiosa, hadn't seen anyone else say it but totally agree.
that goes without saying
I feel like everyone is saying that...
Hey Thomas
I kept assuming the weird bad cgi (people falling etc) was done that way on purpose
@@OldSoAndSo that’s the style
if you're a cinephile and age between 18-28, you can apply 3 days in cannes accredidation just for fun (even though is really hard to get tickets) and cannes truly is once in a lifetime experience
can you elaborate? where do i have to go to apply? thanks.
@impati3nce50 id like to know the same
@@impati3nce50 wait till next year, Cannes website will reopen for all types of accreditation
@@impati3nce50wait till next year cannes website will reopen all types of accreditation
Yeah me too
Personally I am way more excited for Karstenopolis.
With a giant Karsten Runquist statue on one of the plaza's
Shrimpalopolis
But how do we go to Cannes?
You have to be part of the industry, press, or apply for a 3 Days in Cannes accreditation
@@moviemazlowhow much are the 3 days ticket
Shirt is giving Chowder vibes
No Anora is insane, but shit at least bro got to go to Cannes lmao
The title "how to go to the cannes film festival" is clickbait… this is a review of Cannes movies, not a guide on how to attend the festival as I would have expected
Ok Hugh.
I still can’t believe I saw you in a Letterboxd four favourite video
Thanks for the comprehensive tutorial very informative and helpful.
Rip Anora, I bet you really wanted to see it
I've seen it and it's the most hilarious movie i've seen in a while
Click bait video titles?
fr bruh he never said how to go he just talked about the movies he saw 💀
Yall ain’t ever goin anyway
beautiful video, really makes you feel like you’re at cannes film festival
Honestly as someone who watches so many international films you'd think you'd be more respectful about name pronunciations. "ahhhh I'm gonna butcher names!!"
you could just learn how to say their names? lol
Cannes is a dream…
It’s a good
Great to meet you at Cannes @Karsten!! Loving your Kino vids lately. 👋 from New Zealand!
No way I’m from New Zealand and am a passionate cinephile and am going to Cannes next year and love Karsten! Whereabouts are you from I’m Wellington!
Lots of new films added to the watchlist, I love Andrea Arnold, good to know she's about to release a banger and I'm hoping you check out some of her films! (her shorts as well:) Also, The Substance, no idea that was coming out, loved Titane and Revenge so can't wait for that either. Also great video!
clickbait title and thumbnail. cmon dude you're better than that 😭😭
That thumbnail looks like the cover of an indie film I’d quite like to see
i went this year and it was life changing. i would do it in an instant - like mentioned in the comments there's a 3 days in Cannes accreditation that is open for film lovers aged 18-28 no matter the industry! the application goes up in february and due in march and honestly the sooner you apply, the better!
Chowder shirt
wait where's the bit where you say 'how to go to the cannes film festival' lmao
Top tier use of shirts
People actually taking the title seriously is the best part of this.
The fact that everyone says Megalopolis to be memorable and fascinating-whether in a good or im bad way-is already letting me know this will be a great film.
Im just glad it’s something original and interesting, I’ll take that over most of the shit that comes out now
Karsten is never titling a video “how to ____” again bruh 💀
Perfect timing for my lunch break. Many thanks Mr. Runquist.
Step 1: have money and/or be well connected
Cinema bros trying not to mention 10+ times they were at a film festival challenge: Impossible
you clicked on the wrong video
The video came just in time
This video was awesome. I love the music and the editing, thank you for the content
just here to urge you to watch other films in Dupieux's filmography, like Reality or Daaaaaalí!
The Second Act is kind of like his "french film's french film", but I personally think he's is at his most interesting when he really leans into surrealism :))
My top from Cannes :
The Substance
Anora
3 kilometers
All we imagine as light
Wild diamond
Good One
Parthenope
Bird
Worst movie of Cannes : Emilia Perez
4:23 Adam McKay?
Click bait boyz. It's a cool video with movie reviews in it. But nothing about "how to go to the cannes film festival".
the green screen shirt goes also so hard dude
karsten i love you
wrong video, mate. i was expecting you to tell us about the Cannes experience, not the films you saw at Cannes
I didnt realise this was a review video so didnt click on it, until I watched your latest video and found out it is. Maybe change the title Karsten?
see friends, you too can be a youtuber and put in minimal effort and reinvest $0 of your earnings. This shot on an iPhone 4?
woah how is your shirt doing that…
Karsten Runquist,
i think you are very cool and i enjoy watching your videos. I feel like you phrase your opinion really well and it makes me want to go to the movies more often. You are genuenly an influence in my life which makes me want to engage with film a lot me, so thank you for that. Also hope you are healthy and well. Stay safe and keep up being you!

First Andrea Arnold? Please watch Fish Tank and American Honey.
Why do you look like a slightly European Sam Bankman-Fried
BIRD GANG THANK YOU THIS FILM WAS MY FAVORITE 🔥🔥
Kinda wish you could also show the full poster. Cause now i wont recall some you talk about when i see them in the wild
i literally just googled last night "how to go to cannes film festival" so had my hopes up lol
Don't you feel silly.
that's the joke
@@naysaintlaurent2996 And what a knee slapper that joke was, got the whole squad laughing. LAUGHING AT HOW DUMB YOU ARE!
Who was he referring to when he talked about a political comedy writer that talks down to their audience. The first guy that came to mind was Armando Iannucci and I’d call him a lot of things but he’s not really a hand holding, talking down type of writer
adam mckay, i would think
@@uncorpsceleste that’s what i thought
@@uncorpsceleste bingo that’s probably it
so cool that you have shirts based on each of the films you saw, wow!
No way, I was watching Andrea Arnold short films when this dropped.
unexpressibly excited about the new Andrea Arnold!!
So you did not watch the movie that won the Cannes 2024?
Can you explain why you stopped after The Substance?
We need more greenscreen T-shirt in future videos!
4:20 this godard sneak
I’m going to the Cannes film festival this year
that’s a bit of a clickbait title my guy but you do you
I LOVED Oh Canada!
You’ve got something on your shirt
We all know why we're here, and it's at 5:07
No Anora?
wtf is the title. very misleading :(
had to drop a like just for the t shirt edit
Love the tshirt thing. Love you too!
Check out Rubber and Reality by Quentin Duplieux! They are surreal and have an interesting take on meta storytelling.
Yannick is the best starter-Dupieux movie to watch. I hated the first film I saw from him, Rubber, but all of his French-language films I’ve loved. On MUBI and all his films are under 80 minutes. Huge recommend.
For a video called 'how to go to the cannes film festival' it really is just 'here's the films I saw'. I really wanted to know what it's actually like to be there and not hear about films I won't be able to watch for months
So nice to see a Karsten video with a thumbnails that's not a white background with png from movie pasted over the top and quote "this is insane". Love the videos but those thumbnails suck lmao
First, you must present a government-issued ID, your validated passport, and personal documents to get into the Cannes Film Festival. Second, you must give your proof of income to the security in charge of the event. That's how protocol goes. You must always keep that in mind to enter prestigious events.
I actually gasped when Karsten said that Bird is his first Andrea Arnold movie. Karsten, please, I really hope you get to see her other work 🙏🏻 (especially Red Road because no one ever ever talks about that one and it’s so good)
Brother having all poster green screened on your t shirt just sounded good on paper! but now I can't figure out your pronounciation of the movie name. How will I get recommendations????? What do I search in google?
I wish you’d have stopped into The American Pavilion! I didn’t realize you were around, or it would have been so cool to say hi! Also, very curious to hear your thoughts on Anora once you see that and where it lands on the list
I have the same shirt!
Karsten, I really enjoyed how you put your personal videos and opinions together! I hope you are doing well!
Bro is doing The Supranos
i did a report on Dupieux in high school. he is the GOAT and if u arent rockin with it i dont rock with you. Rubber, Steak, Wrong Cops, Reality, hell even Nonfilm. he just dont miss imo. and more than ever in recent years he just cant stop.
I‘m scrubbing through the video looking for the shot with a reflection of your camera, but can’t find it, so I‘ll just ask: what camera did you use? Thanks.
Oh man I’m so disappointed Motel Destino by Karim Aïnouz is not on this list 😢
Director’s fortnite section?
bro i feel cheated 😭
How did no one else watch The Girl with the Needle. Easily the best film I saw at Cannes
How have you not seen Fish Tank and American Honey ??
karsten new video save me new video from hit film youtuber karsten runquist save me
Cannes film
Which guy do we all think about when political satire is looking down on us?
I understood that the title meant “how you should attend the festival” not “how to get to the festival”
YOOOOOOOOOO!
Did Garfield screen?
Hope you start to check out Andrea Arnold’s filmography. I feel they’re right up your alley in terms of characters, themes, direction. I love fish tank so much
