How do you take care of your watch?
Have a look at the Tudor Prince Oysterdates and Prince Dates. Very similar to datejusts, but cheaper. Might be a good watch to bulk up the collection pal
@@caseypage7856 the Tudor Prince watches are very nice. Especially the date versions. If I find one at a good price, I’ll probably purchase! I’ve seen some on the grey market that were pretty expensive and they didn’t come with a box or papers
Whenever I get my first Rolex, I will be sure to be packing every time. No way someone is jacking my watch on the street. That’s a very nice watch man
Thanks my guy! And I understand how you feel, but I think you’ll be okay with the watch bro
I recently purchased this watch and I couldn’t be more happy with it. The dial is truly stunning!
It truly is! And congratulations on your purchase! I know you’re going to love wearing it.
I’ve been waiting for mine for quite some time now, but this popping up on my recommendations let’s me know it’s near! Appreciate the video brother
🙌🏾 I believe you’ll have it in no time! When you get it be sure to let me know! Thanks so much for tuning in bro!
Watch looks great on you man! Keep enjoying it
Thanks for tuning in man! 🙌🏾 Truly appreciated!
I recently purchased this watch in mint green and I found your video very helpful. I have a habit of barely using my prized possessions but your right, I owe it to myself and to others that desire the elegance of a Rolex to utilize it properly. Thanks
Congratulations on your new timepiece! The mint green is beautiful as well! She’s going to treat you well. Don’t be afraid to wear her! 🙌🏾
My father has a steel/gold date just. He bought it in 1986 and has worn it everyday since. He does yard work and literally everything with it. He even showers and sleeps with it often. He has had a service about 4 times. I have the steel datejust and work as a fireman in a busy urban city. It went thru hell including building fires, daily training and it is still great. It has even survived camping, mt biking, firearms training, water skiing and snow skiing. I now use a submariner and use the datejust for more formal occasions. But Basically the datejust watch can be beat up. Enjoy it. When ever you service it it comes back looking new. Oh and my father and I have hollow links which are not even as durable as yours.
Dude that’s amazing! And you’re right, the DJ can take a beating for sure. I’m hoping to get a sportier watch soon so I can rest the DJ except on more formal occasions as well, but until then, I’m going to keep it on!
Nice vid. Whats you wrist circumference?
This is the exact watch on my wish list omg
That’s great! I hope you’re able to acquire one!
Great review stunning dial. And not many in the wild. Word of advice Jayce do not change the date between 9pm and 3am. You could damage the watch. Set it to 6.30 then change the quick date. Google the reasons, so you have a better understanding 👊🏾
Thanks for tuning in. And yes I recently discovered this. I don’t even touch my watches during that time lol, unless I’m taking them off!
@@EsteemedImage Great video and well put together. I had to make you aware just incase. As I noticed in the video, and trust me you don't want that cost bro Lol 💯👊🏾
good video i love to see more
Thanks for watching! 🙌🏾
Beautiful DJ. Hard to get classier than a jubilee bracelet. I’ve had mine for 5 years now and just starting to wear it more often.
Thank you. My apologies for missing this message. I am curious to know, what inspired you to start wearing it more often?
Outstanding!!!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great review. Happy to hear you’re still wearing and enjoying the DJ. Couldn’t agree more that these watches are meant to be worn. Yes, they’re expensive. Yes, we want to keep them pristine. Yes, we fear anything bad happening. But, the logical extreme of that obsession is your watch becoming Gollum’s “precious” - an arguably worse outcome than had you never bought it at all.
For care, I’m big on a quick wipe down with a microfiber cloth before putting the day’s watch away for the night. Maybe once/week or after being in the pool or ocean, I’ll thoroughly rinse it with regular tap water.
Thanks for watching Daniel! I lost My microfiber cloth, so I use my eyeglass cloth. I’ve seen people use soap on their watches. How do you feel about that? I’m not sure about it
I wouldn’t recommend using soap unless you got grease or heavy oil on it. Most soaps leave residue, which can dull your watch’s appearance. It will also accumulate both in the small spaces and contours of your watch and bracelet and also inside the microabrasions and scratches that you get from daily wear. Even if you had to use soap, I’d never put the soap directly onto the watch. Instead, I’d suggest filling a clean sink or bucket full of warm water and adding just enough mild, liquid dish soap to get some bubbles going. Then, swish the watch through the barely soapy water, maybe rubbing any grease stained potions with your fingers to make sure it’s washed away. After that, the watch will have to be thoroughly rinsed with warm, running water, and it probably wouldn’t hurt to let it soak overnight in a bucket of clean water, even after you’re sure that you’ve rinsed off all the soapy water. As you can imagine…kind of a pain in the ass…hence why I really don’t advise using soap unless it is unavoidable. I’ve heard of people using alcohol, but you have to be careful with that, too, b/c alcohol can degrade sealants, and although it won’t corrode the metal, it can deteriorate other materials (rubber, silicone, etc.).
@@daniell2217 I don’t think I’ll ever get anything that dense on my watch to need soap. I haven’t even worn it during my workouts. I always take it off. Obviously sweat isn’t going to hurt the watch, but it’s a little uncomfortable wearing a watch especially a metal one while working out.
Congratulations on this watch , pure class and great choice . Ive got the Everose With the Silver Fluted Dial . Looks amazing and the dial pops great in different light . Think a Daytona would be great in your Collection
Thank you so much Steven! I love it a lot. I know the exact watch you’re talking about and it’s an absolute beauty! Is that the only watch you own? Also, at this point I think my chances of winning the lottery are better than getting a Daytona lol
@@EsteemedImage I own a Tudor S&G GMT Root Beer , S&G Black Bay 41 , Rolex Daytona 116520 stainless steel with white dial . G Shock to name a few . My next Purchase will be a 116509 blue Dial White Gold Daytona , Wish me luck on getting this one 😜
@@stevenfoleyuk9404 you have a lovely collection! And yes I wish you all the luck on that Daytona lol, but here’s the deal, when you get it, you have to send me a wrist shot! It’s only right lol

Thanks so much for tuning in. I truly appreciate it. What’s your favorite dress watch?
@EsteemedImage oh wow I wasn't expecting a reply! The cartier tank large! It was always my dream watch and I wear it everyday!

That's gorgeous! Enjoy it! Always good to hear people actually WEAR their Rolex :)
I have been! It’s been an amazing experience thus far!
Taking notes,….. “wear the watch”. Excellent commentary. Excellent video.
Yessir! You got enough to wear one per day lol. At least you don’t keep them locked away at a bank
You sir, have excellent taste. If I was going to purchase a new Rolex, it would be this exact model with the fluted motif.
Thank you so much for the kind words! This piece was a great purchase for sure
The insurance tip is GOLD!
Man it was the best piece of advice I’ve ever received for sure!
Love the review. Just a humble suggestion that perhaps a bit more of a wrist shot of the watch would be more preferred
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! I will be sure to keep that in mind for the one year update video!
Really informative video!
I walked into an AD and walked out with this today. I was set on a 36 champagne TT (which they didn’t have) so was initially hesitant but am so glad I picked this - I feel I would have even if they had the champagne!!
Thank you for watching! And huge congratulations 🎉 on your pickup! I love when people are able to purchase a watch upon walking into an AD. Wear this watch in good health and have fun doing it!
Thanks man! It’s my first Rolex so am very excited!! :)
@@kenjiwhite4951 even better! 🙌🏾 you’re going to love it man!
Congrats on this piece.
Thank you sir! You have a dope channel btw! Keep up the great work.
Stunning looking timepiece, please take good care of it and keep it always clean because it is an expensive piece of art
Thank you! And yes I make sure to be very careful with it.
Beautiful watch!
Thanks for the compliment and also for watching
Great video beautiful beautiful Rolex , classy looking beautiful dial matching jubilee and gold bezel. I am trying to decide datejust or the batgirl gmt. U should put the PPF on the watch to protect fro scratches . Congratulations 👍😀
Thanks Michael! I’ve never heard of PPF, can you explain? Also your style can determine which one you choose, or you can choose both lol
@@EsteemedImage PPF is a translucent film that you apply to your watch so you if you bump into anything it won’t scratch your watch. Ask your AD dealer or google film protection for Rolex there is website where you can order the kit have your AD dealer put it on . Or go to RUclips you can’t even see it is on the watch. Good investment only appreciate your watch and if your wearing the watch every day . Yeah great investment 👍😀😀
@@michaellui74 awesome! I’ll be sure to ask the next time I go which will be in a couple of weeks. Thanks for that advice.
Very nice review I went with a older 1988 model because I wanted to gift a birth year datejust (71) to my father. So I saved my cash to go towards two rather than new. My first new one will be a Daytona two tone
Thank you so much for watching! Both were actually really good investments. I hope you’re able to get the two toned Daytona bc it’s such a beautiful time piece!
Nice Rolex, but that’s way out of my price range. What model is that Seiko I would love to find one in all silver.?
This is the exact configuration I'm looking to buy as my first Rolex. It looks stunning! How long was the waiting time?
It’s a beautiful piece to own! My situation was a little different than most, but I only waited for about 11 days before I got the call.
where did you buy it from?@@EsteemedImage
ATL, heavy my guy!
It’s called fliplock. Glidelock is the microadjustment to loosen or tighten the bracelet in models like the Submariner and Seadweller.
Thanks for the clarification. I knew it was one of the two.
Beautiful watch. Still waiting on mine from AD same one. What size is your wrist? I am waiting on 36 as well
Thank you! And man I have a tiny wrist lol. I’m just under 6. So the 36 fits me perfectly
Arguably a prudent action to take before receiving a timepiece in this price class, or any prized timepiece regardless of the monetary value, is to open an account with a trusted banking institution for a safety deposit box. I keep my entire collection in a safety deposit box when not actively wearing various pieces. It takes no real time investment to simply stop by the bank and pick up the favored piece for the day/week. And when taking the piece off at night, it goes in a fire resistant safe.
I would also be socially mindful about where I’m going, and with whom I’m spending time. This is useful in any instance, but particularly when engaging others while wearing exclusive jewelry. It's hit or miss as to whether or not people notice what you have on your wrist. Many are likely to think it's fake. But, in those instances where people take note of your watch and know its value, it is best to be among others who can afford the lifestyle you live.
Note: If you wear your watch correctly behind the Dorsal tubricle and Ulnar Styloid process, the watch will be more likely to remain hidden from view under a shirt cuff when encountering people of questionable character.
I thought about getting a safety deposit box but I regularly wear all of my watches at this point. I will say that once i start acquiring more, I’ll definitely look into it esp now that I’m in a bigger city.
What color tie and undershirt would go well with it . I’m going to prom and I want a brown suit since my friends are matching.
I’d either do a white or light blue shirt. As for the tie, I’d stick to a dark tie like a navy.
Great review man!
Thank you sir. And I appreciate you for tuning in!
I'm on waitlist for the bright blue fluted motif dial in my country. I just want to know how long did it take you to wait to get that beauty?
Oh man that’s a beauty as well. And this one was kind of a fluke lol, but it was only about 11 days from initial contact with my AD to receiving the watch, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that the person that introduced us has almost 10 watches
@@EsteemedImage Yeah i just watched your unboxing and how you shared your experience with your friend and how he hooked you up! That's very lucky man! You got yourself a good crowd! But you know what, that gave me an idea to also ask around people i know who might have a good purchase history on ADs here. I'm from Philippines by the way, so I'm just not sure how often those designs gets to get here LOL or if they already get sold before reaching us
There is a lot of waxing about Rolex and [insert watch they have made] and worrying about it that you see with watch enthusiasts. Your normal person perspective and appreciation was nice to listen to. “Wear it everyday. You bought it.”
Thanks for saying that honestly! Like I don’t understand why people just collect them ya know. They’re expensive as hell! Enjoy it
If you could only have one watch, between this dj36 and your submariner, which would you pick and why?
Thanks!
This is a great question. I would say right now, today, I’d choose my DJ and that’s bc it can be dressed up or down. I’ve worn it with everything except my tuxedo. This answer may change as I spend more time with my submariner!
There's only one thing I don't like about this modern datejust. The addition of large lume on the indices adds a lot of white to the dial. To me it takes away from the gold theme. I'm very rarely wearing my datejust in the dark anyways. The bracelet is a huge upgrade though and is apparently impervious to stretch. What are your thoughts?
Ya know i actually never really paid attention to the white indices until just now. Initially when I purchased the watch, like you I didn’t wear it in the dark. When I got home I’d immediately take it off & store but, now that I’m wearing it all the time (to include nights) the bright lume comes in handy
As for the bracelet, yes it has slightly changed, but not to the point That I need to have it adjusted again. It’s actually even more comfortable now IMO
Great video. I’m looking to by this exact watch. I was really torn between the two tone champagne or the blue color, but now I’m leaning towards the two tone. It’s really hard to buy one at retail price. Would you still say this watch is worth it at aftermarket prices ($14k+)?
Thanks for tuning in Kevin! I truly appreciate it. As for the after market price, I’d say getting it for 14k would be a great deal maybe even 15k since it’s 12.5k retail. I wouldn’t go about about 16k honestly unless this watch is a non negotiable for you ya know!
@@EsteemedImage Thanks for the reply. I know they’re two different watches, but would you recommend this watch or the GMT Batgirl as a first Rolex? Thanks
@@kevinhung1575 of course! Both watches are amazing. I think the main thing is to ask yourself which watch you’d get the most wear from. Seek that one first and the other next. There’s nothing wrong with having both in your collection.
How is the watch holding up nowadays? I was heavily considering the GMT Batgirl but was offered one for close to $19K. I was offered this watch for $13.5K. I am leaning towards the Fluted Motif Datejust since I don’t know if I can justify paying double the retail price for a hyped SS sports watch (as much as I really like the Batgirl), plus it is a bit bulky on my tiny 6.25 inch wrist. Btw, what’s your wrist size?
@@kevinhung1575 she’s been holding up perfectly. I wear her almost daily at this point. That’s a steep price for that Batgirl especially if you don’t plan on wearing it all the time. I think this one would fit perfectly on your wrist with my wrist being just below 6. I have a very small wrist as well
How big is your wrist? (Lovely watch and dial choice)
Just under 6 inch! And thank you so much!
Ima buy myself this watch for my 45th birthday
It’s a great watch to have 🙌🏾
Hello! Is the yellow gold in this model a solid gold? Thanks
Hi man! Thanks for watching. And yes it is, you can discover more about Rolex’s gold by visiting their website. They do a much better job of explaining than I ever could lol
Appreciate your reply. Thinking to get this exact model this year :) @@EsteemedImage
@@Maestromarksherwin that’s awesome! I think you’ll love it
How would you compare this dial with the plain gold coloured dial? It's one of the big dilemmas of my life.
Honestly you can’t go wrong with either! I personally love that this dial has dimension, but it the dial was a solid color I wouldn’t be mad. This dial is also very versatile.
Yes they are both amazing. But the palm dial is also great and it's because it's non symmetrical and helps balance out the cyclops which in itself creates a non symmetry, This is how people start large watch collections. @@EsteemedImage
I have orient watch that looks exactly the same for 200$. And Automatic too. Jubilee bracelet and full gold color
That’s awesome man! I wish you could post it here so I could see it
@@EsteemedImage I can’t even find it on Google, I bought it in France in Chinese store. Orient is a great Japanese brand tho they are owned by Seiko.
You’re not closing the clasp correctly. Press in the middle. The end of the clasp is actually hinged.
Thanks. I’ve since adjusted since making the video.
I have the same one but it have diamonds dial on it year 2020 been trying to sell it upgrade it but people low ball
Oh man that’s a beauty. Have you tried consignment or a Rolex group on Facebook? That may help
A Lange is number one but my favorite rolex is the milguass blue z
Yea the ALS is a beauty, but comes with the a hefty price tag. The Milgauss is a lovely watch as well
I inherited this same watch from my father. Only difference is the bracelet is the hidden clasp model. I made the mistake of wearing it everyday for almost 12 years. Bracelet broke and I sent it in for repair and servicing in September. Just got it back a couple weeks ago.
Total cost of servicing replacing the bracelet, bezel, and crystal was $7200. That was a costly mistake I wont be making again. I will only be wearing occasionally going forward. Rolex did return the original bracelet but its pretty worn compared to the replacement.
Just keep in mind that if you wear this everyday, you will pay for it.
Thanks for the heads up! This watch is still brand new so I have a little time, and as my collection grows it’s been staying in the winder a lot more! Been trying to spread the wear wealth lol
@@EsteemedImage I need to send in my other Rolex. its a steel Oyster Perpetual Date from 1986. Thats the one Im wearing as the daily from now on.
One thing about the bezel on the gold/steel Datejust. The bezel was worn and the sharp edges all rounded as its 18K gold.
Now I was kind of hard on that watch as I wore it all the time. I only took it off to shower and do dirty jobs. Other than that I wore it all the time. It is a great watch but when I got it back after the restoration its looks awesome. Far better then when I inherited it. My father originally bought it new in 2005 after his retirement.
@@ALCAN52 I know it’s a beauty! 😍 I try to be as careful as I can when wearing it but you know how that goes right! Hit the door jam here, slam on the table accidentally there, so I’m trying to be more cognizant about things bc I want to be able to pass this down to my son one day. Also, Your father (and you) have impeccable taste!
Does the gold tarnish off the watch?
No, it doesn’t.
@@EsteemedImage how is the gold holding up with scratches?
And how is the watch in general holding up with the wear and tear.
I’m really thinking about getting a 2 tone date just.
@@eloyrodriguez6980 so bc I wear my daily several days a week I do have scratches on the clasp but that’s it. That’s from just daily wear and tear but any type of metal is going to stretch. It’s real gold so it’s not scratching off or turning silver. My watch is still very vibrant and beautiful. It needs a cleaning as it’s been awhile but it’s still holding up very well
If it's fine to ask, how much did it cost?
Of course it is! I paid retail for it at a little over $12k
@@EsteemedImage would it make sense if this model went for around the mid 4k range w/ a full set of papers and a box?
@@mikodizon8322 I don’t think so due to this watch being a 2021, and it has precious metal (gold). A much older version may go for 4-6k, but I’m not sure about a new model
@@EsteemedImage exactly a dealer told me 3-4 k, so this definitely adds up! Thank you!! It sold for about 4.2k, but needed buffing and servicing
@@mikodizon8322 oh wow that’s very interesting. Maybe the price has dropped significantly but that’s almost a 3rd. Were you able to make the purchase?
Beautiful watch, but sounds like you would be more happier with Explorer 1
Thank you! And no, I’ve been wanting this watch for a very long time I just didn’t think I’d get it so soon
@@EsteemedImage wear it in the good health my friend. It’s a beautiful timepiece. Luckily I’m more of a strap person. So the first thing I do when buying a new watch is I replace the bracelet with leather or nato strap. It makes the watch look less flashy and it protects my work desk from scratches 😄
@@cookingwithwatches I definitely will. Maybe this summer I’ll opt for a different strap! I’m still enjoying this one quite well though
Probably the best 2-tone DateJust Rolex will _ever_ make - I may even prefer the smooth bezel (even though I am a die-hard fluted bezel man).
I only wish it had a butterfly clasp instead (especially if Rolex opted not to use glidelock)
Don't ever let go of this heavy hitter.
I absolutely agree! If I were to get another one I’d do the smooth bezel just to gave contrast. I must admit that the smooth bezel on my Tudor Black Bay is amazing.
