    Rep - Pepin Fast Series Adjustable Dumbbell Review | Monster Home Gym Collaboration
    Inventor Series: REP x PÉPIN FAST Series Adjustable Dumbbell
    REP has innovative minds on our Colorado-based engineering team. At the same time, we sometimes run across other inventors doing awesome things. These are our people. We want to support them. That's why we created the Inventor Series: a special line of products invented by small, outstanding inventors from around the world. We collaborate with the best of the best. And then work closely alongside them to optimize their ideas, using our resources and knowledge of the home and commercial gym market. The goal is to simultaneously lift up other gym equipment inventors, while making their amazing products more accessible to more people. It's a win-win-win.
    Meet the REP x PÉPIN FAST Series Adjustable Dumbbell. These premier adjustable dumbbells are heavier and more compact than most adjustable dumbbells on the market. An adjustable dumbbell that starts at 10lbs and can go up to 125lbs at only 18.3” long is pretty much unheard of. All steel, CNC-cut plates with a black powder coating allow the dumbbells to be incredibly compact, very accurate, and look and feel great. In addition, they’re extremely durable. Both the dumbbells and the cradles are constructed entirely of metal (with UMHW liners to prevent steel-on-steel contact) and have been extensively drop-tested from every angle. The steel cradles allow you to rerack the dumbbells without worrying about being overly gentle, as would be the case if the cradles were plastic.
    And it’s quick, easy, safe, and satisfying to change the weight in 10lb increments - with just the press of a magnetic pop-pin. Adjust weight inside or outside the cradles (ideal for drop sets). Or add the included 2.5lb micro-plates for smaller adjustments. Adjustable dumbbells take up a small footprint in your gym, especially when compared with a standard set of 10-125lb dumbbells.
    The REP x PÉPIN dumbbells are offered in 85lb, 105lb, or 125lb pairs. The 85lb pair meets the needs of most lifters but is still upgradeable to the heavier options in the future. The cradle also expands, so no matter the weight, you never need to buy a new cradle; simply unscrew the end pieces and screw them back into the correct, pre-drilled holes. These dumbbells feature high-end details, like nickel-plated handles with volcano-style knurling; functional side rails with comfortable, rounded outside edges; UMHW protective liners to prevent scratches from steel-on-steel contact; laser-etched weight markings (no cheap stickers!); and more. Pro-style heads look and feel like regular dumbbells, but the flat bottom still keeps the dumbbells from rolling on the ground. They’re further elevated with an aesthetic "REP x PÉPIN" nameplate on the cradle and REP mountain logo cutouts on the ends of the cradles. Make no compromises. A new bar for the best adjustable dumbbells has been set.

      Price down while they are making minor improvements - big win. I think for anyone stronger - it is the top pick if you want something fast changing. For the 85 pound version, I would still say it is the top pick but there is still cheaper competition that others may stay with

    This is very exciting and I love how they worked with Pepin and didn't just "borrow" the design, so both companies win and further show's Rep's integrity, and WE win because of these now actually being affordable and I'm seriously considering upgrading my bowflex knockoff 10-90s (they work, but annoying they are always very long no matter what weight is selected) for the 125s. I've been anticipating these since they dropped the Quickdraws, and figured it would be a different version of those. I was disappointed at first, because I was hoping for a fresh new design to add to the adjustable dumbbell market. But after reading more about these, they're an improved version of the Pépins, and they look like that they will the holy grail of adjustable dumbbells. As for me, I have 5-90 Powerblocks for the auxiliary work and Ironmasters up to 135lbs for compound stuff. So, I'm all set for now. If they offered them up to 135lbs or even 150lbs, then I'd definitely reconsider, especiallyif I could consolidate both sets of dumbbells. I switched from Rogue to Rep (because Rogue was clearly lagging when it came to innovation). I notice little to no difference in quality.

    • @Exercise-vt6je
      @Exercise-vt6je 6 месяцев назад

      @@Mench951 It's not their quality I find concerning, and I do like innovation. But what concerns me is really just their overall approach. It feels like an intentional suboptimal closed system.
      Straydog is a more expense option but I think it makes for a good comparison. Take a standard 16" deep rack. If you want an Adjustable Functional Cable Column, you can put it on one side of the rack. If you want a Lat Pulldown, you can put it on the other side of the rack. If you want to take either of the systems out, you can just put them on an auxiliary upright or get a stand to make them standalone. If you want a rack with two Pulldowns or 2 Cable Column, it's not a problem, you can have as many as you want. They are using the 3x3 rack as it's intended, you can mix and match however you want. It's more or less plug and play.
      Now if we look at Rep, we can still get a 3x3 rack that's 16" deep. But most of what makes a 3x3 rack so great is gone. Neither their Pulldown nor their Adjustable Functional Cable can be separated into standalone options. While they do have an option to put their Adjustable Functional Cable on the side of a rack in the form of their Athena, the Pulldown can only be placed in the middle leading to a whole bunch of unnecessary complexity in terms of both cable routing and options to stabilize the lower body -- a person can no longer just use a 3x3 seat.
      Rep's Adonis seems to be a fine standalone solution, but it's large and and similarly locked down due to their unnecessarily complex cabling solutions. As much as they claim to be on the side of home gym owners, I just don't see it. Everything they do seems backwards.
