I think there’s a misunderstanding with regards to kg vs lbs. The weight increments don’t match up with regular kilogram gym dumbells at all either. The increments are smaller than 2.5kg. Which is a good thing.
Warranty Warning: Based on very quick research it looks like this is most likely a Chinese company using an original Chinese design, but using Canada as a North American front for their business. The address on their site is a self-storage unit in Calgary, i.e. Sentinel Self Storage, their website is riddled with spelling mistakes, and their ToS is a generic template copied off of the internet. This doesn't mean the dumbbells aren't high quality but it is information worth knowing. EDIT - it looks like they updated their address. It was 7725 112 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T3R 1R8. It's now 135a 250 Aero Link Ne T2E 7X8, Calgary, Canada. It appears to be a logistics company/warehouse but it also appears to have multiple, obviously related business, operating out of that location.
@@squallrulz20if you hire the site out you should still be proofreading it before approving the product for production. Quick google search says 90% of Calgary is English only so they should have someone on staff that can do that.
@@GorgeousBalls I noticed this as well. If the smaller weights were discounted I'd consider it a good gamble but otherwise it was a bit to risky for me as I am not particularly cash-strapped. I still think its a good option (which is why I clicked) but caveat emptor as they say.
I’ve had the 92 lbs gen 2s for a few months now. The numbering doesn’t bother me at all. The increments from one weight to the next are so small that even an old guy like me has been able to steadily increase the poundages. I use Versa Gripps on heavier rows so the thicker handle is not an issue. Strong recommendation!
Had them for two weeks now and really like them. Took just over 3 weeks from order to delivery with no customs fees and the weight increments are fine. The bar is a little big but no issue for me and the gnurling is good.
The "weird" increments wouldn't bother me. The smaller jumps are awesome for progression for certain exercises with smaller muscles like with lateral raises with delts or just using smaller jumps in general.
The increments for the 92lb ones are 2.5, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3 Why do they give the .5 for the starting weight and then disregard decimals for the rest? Also why isn't the pattern consistent?
The smaller weight jumps can help if you are pressing heavy and trying to progress…it is much more difficult to press 90s going from 85s rather than doing like 87.5 for a while then building up to 90s
Assassin goods in the UK do a near identical version of these. Not sure if they’re all from the same factory or a knock off but they have a weird kg scheme up to 41.5kg in 1.5kg jumps
I can understand why people might not like the non-standard weight adjustments, but in my opinion it is superior. It doesn't really make it any harder or longer to adjust the increments and you get more. Also, compared to Nuobells, it is a nice upgrade to have them go to 92 pounds - big difference if you need the heavier increments
Yeah I agree with you Steve. I mean the biggest problem I have is going up 5 lb to the next weight. I love these small increments. Hey, do you think these would survive if I bailed on the lift and drop them on crash pads? Or are they kind of delicate?
@@cryptomando I never used them so I don't know. But they don't market that aspect so they probably are fragile. That being said, it is similar for Nuobells and you generally don't see people complaining about broken Nuobells. My guess is they would not hold up well to drops
I would rather see consistent intervals not seemly randomized 3 or 4 lb changes. Each plate should be the same, and each step the same regardless of lbs or kg at the very least for marketing purposes.
The funny thing about the weight increments is...how many of our home gym equipment we love and have used daily for years are slightly off the stated weight anyway? Keep improving at a given lift and getting stronger is getting stronger, 1 pound of kilo at a time.
Thanks for the great review Coop! I've owned these for a few weeks now and am happy so far with my choice. The odd weight increments aren't really a big deal at all, as your muscles don't care if you progress them in 3 or 4 lb increments vs. 5 lb increments. In fact they may thank you for it!
Ordered a set of these (shown as in-stock) on 1/20/2024. Finally received the delivery today on 3/22/2024. Packaging was torn to shreds, one set of weight plates were loose inside a large box that didn't have Trulap branding, and the stand was completely missing from my order. Product quality itself seems fine, but I agree with the other commenter that this seems like a Canadian front for a Chinese drop shipping operation. I sent a complaint in to Trulap today about the missing stand and will update this comment with more information as I have it. For now, I'd probably urge buyers to do additional research and not just take Coop's word for it on this one. I'll be more cautious about taking GGR advice without additional vetting in the future.

Support responded quickly that the stand was back in stock (again, it was shown as in-stock at the time of purchase) and would be shipping within the week. This was 4 days ago and it has not shipped yet. They also said that they dealt with a customs issue that was causing delays. Will report back when I have more info.

I purchased the Gen 1 back in July and the odd increments don't bother me. I had the bowflex 1090 for nine years so these are a major upgrade. Both my cradles came cracked but the company sent me two more as soon as I notified them. I've been waiting on you to review these, now I know why it took so long.
I'm rehabbing a bicep tendon and will soon need some heavier dumbbells and decided a adjustable set will work. I bought the 52 lb TRULAP set and they just arrived. Looks like a quality set and we may upgrade them when the time comes. I also picked up a used Hammer Strength adjustable bench in excellent condition - overkill but a great bench. Coop not being able to get over different weight increments is funny AF. Looked like his brain was about to explode. Nice to see more competition in this segment. I'd still probably go with the Rep adjustables for the warranty but these might be a good second place with the large number of weight increments depending on how they hold up in the long term.

I literally just got mine. They ship to EU which is amazing. I did wait about 7 weeks but considering the holidays and US-EU transport its perfectly fine. Havent done a workout with them yet but they feel amazing in the hand. One concern (will see how it'll turn out later in practice) is that when I loaded one of the dumbells to full and was moving it around, the last end plate fell out of socket to the ground. luckily I got rubber floors and it missed my foot but its a concern for actual workouts. PS: the ones shipped to EU come with KG markings instead of lbs, which is great for me. If it was a concern for anyone.
I'm in Croatia and other than the shipping cost calculated during checkout I didn't get charged any tolls or taxes. But I think that depends partially on the border investigator so another day might have been different. @@miksn222I'm from Belgium and ordered them from Assassin Goods in the UK about 6 months ago. Their website doesn't allow you to select a delivery address outside of the UK, but if you send them an email they'll probably be able to help you out like they helped me. Mind you, they're not called Trulap on their website; they just refer to them as Adjustable Dumbbells V2.
They sell in Europe as Pumpbells, Dutch website, probably ship to Belgium for free as well. I got mine during Black Friday. The end plate who fell was probably misassembled. There are 4 plates thar are different from the rest and need to be in the end and in the correct orientation. If done so, all of then lock very tightly.
@@kauerpc Pumpbells and Trulap are different dumbbells entirely, though. Pumpbells are 1 kg increments and go up to 32 kg, whereas Trulap (or their UK equivalent at Assassin Goods) are 1.5 kg increments and go up to 41.5 kg
Had my USA powerblocks for almost 10 years now. Could expand to 90 but 70 has always been good for me. My favorite part is still the double hand grip when turning them over for things like pullovers and goblet squats. For me, the effort to emulate the standard Dumbell with an adjustable one just never gets there so the powerblocks with their contrarian design just works best for me. And I don’t toss them around so not worried about breaking. Happy New Year Coop!
I've also had Powerblocks Sport EXP up to stage 2 (70lb) for 5 years. I still prefer the balance of a traditional dumbbell, the PB are like putting your hand inside a toaster and I have often thought about swapping for nuobell. However the PB are a simple design, as long as they aren't dropped them they should last 50 years+, where as I would think the rachet style handle will wear overtime meaning the nuobell style might become faulty in 5 to 10 years. Being sensible I'm sticking with PB's, it's bullet proof.
Well I know I wished there was a comment like this, so I'll get it done on these. I just got those in the mailbox today, and the least we could say is - they're fantastic. The only thing I had to worry about is the shipping process (I live in France, so I had to wait for them for three months), but damn that was worth the wait. Clearly a true level up in my home gym. After ordering the EzBlocks and getting scammed by never receiving the product nor the refund, I was really sceptical; Trulap have solved it!
Seeing all the adjustable dumbells makes me feel so glad i chose Ironmasters from the start!!...most compact and mine go up to 135. Dropped numerous times and never had a prob. Had them over 6 years now.
Weight increments as noted below are actually a positive for those more mature lifters lifting at max reps and wts, the tiny increments will really help me make improvements that can be noted in the workout notebook for future gains.
have them, love them. i was hesitant because the weight increments bugged me, conceptually. in practice, i don’t find it to be an issue at all. total non issue, glad i bought them. also, i got the stand and love it i also have powerblocks and prefer the trulaps big time. no cage design, round, don’t get caught on my shorts when doing rows, less tedious to adjust
Since I am from Germany I am used to the metric systems, that aside I think the small increments are really good especially when you are training near your limit with few repetitions. What bothers me in most Gyms in Germany have Dumbbells (here called "Kurzhanteln") from 1 - 10 kg, and the 2,5 kg increments so the next step is 12,5 than 15 and so forth. There are situations where you can do your repetitions with lets say 15kg but 17,5 is just to heavy for a clean set. So yeah I think small increments are really nice.
Currently have the nuobells, but if they were to ever break after the warranty is up, these might be the replacement! Thanks for the review, Coop and team.
I have the first generation and love them. They are my first pair of adjustable dumbbells, but even the slight rattle isn’t that noticeable because I’m not doing quick jerky movements. And I don’t mind or notice the small incremental changes. And it does actually come in handy when I just need to drop the weight a few pounds.
I ordered these at the start of their Black Friday sale around 11/10/2023. The Black Friday deal I got was $750 for the dumbbells and rack. I found a discount code online somewhere which brought the price down to $712 I believe. The stand at the time was out of stock and they promised to ship when they arrived. I received the dumbbells within a week. It has been almost two months, and I am still waiting for the stand. I love these dumbbells. I like the "odd" weight increments, especially with isolation movements. I have some 1.25-pound Platemates to get any weight that I may want.
The one thing that is never mentioned about any of the quick adjustable dumbells is that if you like to do drop sets or supersets using dumbells you would either need to bring the whole stack with cradle with you or be right next to either the stand you have them on or wherever you have the stack to adjust the weight down to continue your drop set. With Powerblocks you don’t have to deal with the whole stack, cradle ect. to change weight. Something that’s never mentioned
I think the advantage of smaller weight increments will outweigh the weird numbers. I would buy an adjustable DB if it was 100 lbs and could be regularly dropped after bench pressing. The Quick Draws are close, just a little too light.
These will probably be my top option when I get around to upgrading from my loadable handles. About the same weight as Ironmasters with the heavy handle upgrade, but way quicker to use. The weird increments wouldn't bother me, since it's just numbers in a spreadsheet to me.
The weird weight increments would definitely bother me, but not enough to prevent a purchase if they were a really good dumbbell. I'm still holding out to see what Rep does with their heavier adjustable.
I own powerblocks and the fact that it can't do certain amounts bothers me (ie: 5lbs, 7.5,lbs, 10lbs, 15lbs.. You can never get that 2.5lb increment) I think this would bother me less. Weight is weight and as long as it goes up in somewhat even increments, I think i;d be ok with it.
Well you COULD train in international actual competition (oh an SCIENCE) units, and buy them with kg on them. But I get it ... 100 pounds sounds better than .... what ... 45kg?

If you have a dumbbell that has attachable 16 Kg, 8 Kg, 4 Kg, 2 Kg, and 1 Kg units, you can make any amount between 1 KG and 31 Kg by attaching different arrangements of those weights.
I have 2 cheap spinwheel dumbels on a diy loader. Consists of two wood rails and on both sides wood to keep the plates from falling. Slide the plates inward, give it a spin and done. (Have the 1,25 / 2,5 at the ends for micro increments). Cheap and fast.
It’s crazy how many people are thrown off by weight increments that aren’t increments of 5. You’re just lifting as much weight as you need to get stronger, what the exact number lands at is completely arbitrary.
I went the route of loadable dumbbells that I can use standard plates with. Yes they are bulkier but I can with what I have I can adjust by 2.5lbs per dumbbell listed as max of 350, though admit that putting much bigger then 10lbs plates could easily get awkward. This means I can share my plates between the dumbbells and my barbell, I don't have to worry about special stand for them, and the weights are as stable as your clips. I can also buy plates over time and spread out the cost, and I'm not worried that 2 years from now when I need that heavy expansion I won't be able to get standard 2in plates. A set of rogue's larger ones with collars would be $400, York legacy iron plates from rogue as well; 4x2.5lbs plates, 4x5lbs plates, 8x10lbs plates $245.32. Total $645.32 from the site right now, you can adjust by 5lbs increments 15-70lbs. Added bonus you can grow more past that by adding more 10s at 4 for $89.20 (I did not buy rogue, just picking a more well known name and a higher priced brand. Mine are some China brand from Amazon and CAP plates.) Also no you are not insane not increments would annoy me.
I just ordered mine. The sale is reduced to $70 off, but still cheaper than Nuobells at time of ordering. Going from Loyo 50lbs (90% drop safe sub-brand that Snode used to offer), I'm really looking forward to the significant increase in weight increments.
I’ll take aggressive knurling over passive any day! Especially on a heavier dumbbell. Dainties can use gloves. Nuobell needs to take note and fix their passive knurling.
Thanks Coop! In my gym, I've got adjustable dumbbells that only show kg, but I have some microplates that are lbs. So, I was constantly calculating in my head, ok, 17.5kg dumbells with a 2.5lb micrplate... wtf! So I made a spreadsheet with all possible combinations, printed it out, and hung it on the wall in my garage. Problem solved!
This exact dumbbell is available in the UK but its called the Stealth Dumbbell. Not sure why they change their name but it does support Chinese manufacturing. Seem to get reasonable reviews though. Spare parts are available but my concern is that there are none for the version 1. I don't know if they are interchangeable, if not, makes you wonder if your dumbbells will be fixable down the line.
These were not designed in kg and converted to lbs. Doing the conversion: They start at 3.86kg (8.5lbs) and go up steadily by 1.59kg (3.5lbs) increments all the way up 41.73 kg. (92lbs).

Coop IS NOT an idiot! I am annoyed that they don't have 2.5 lb increments because I am a HUGE Dr Mike (RP Hypertrophy and App) follower and when my workouts call for an increase or decrease of 2.5 lbs I can never get them with the ones I chose (don't hate - they were from Dick's called Ethos and much cheaper for a 1st time home gym investment). I was so stoked thinking "YES! These are what I need to achieve that in my workouts.." HA! Fooled again 🤣 I would be so peeved if I had purchased and then realized the increments are so WEIRD! I've had so many adjustable dumbbells and recently sold my Nuobells to go back to Powerblock, but this time with their knurled handles and WAUW... that is THE BEST dumbbell I've ever tried. Powerblock with knurled handle is 100% my choice, always. Trulaps grip is also way too thick (as well as the new Powerblock Pro 100 has a grip that is way too thick, but the rest with a normal and great 32mm handle is amazing).
I was thinking about getting the new Powerblock 100's. I know the only complaint people have with Powerblocks is the "uneven feeling" you get from the weighted handles as well as the cage limiting your range and potential exercises you can do. Do you experience any of those issues when using your Powerblocks? Thanks.
I do not like the thick handles on the Pro 100, and they are also a bit too big for my taste, but to each their own. The "uneven feeling" is incredible slight and if you get knurled handles.. it's not even there. It will of course be there a little, when you use the adder weights, but in use it doesn't bother me, as I only use it when I've maxed out on the weight above, so that you can go one down and add the adder weights. In my HONEST opinion (and I've owned 3 versions of powerblocks, some bowflex, off brand dumbbells and also both versions of Nuobells.. my Pro EXP with Knurled handles are BY FAR the best. And the two round bars for the adder weights under the Powerblocks are AMAZING for a bunch of exercises where people would usually think that a dumbbell is not that good or to make an alternate verson of exercises where the cage could be annoying. Nuobells are great, and you can see one fanboy already commented on my post (because people always feel the need to validate and praise what they just bought), but in my opinion, again, Powerblock + Knurled handles = perfecton. Without the knurled handle, Powerblocks are still great, but it makes a huge difference. @@Dial_J_for_Josh

Id be curious to see how these last over time. Like my powerblocks are time tested for sure. But if these were on par with PBs then i think we have a new adjustable dumbell king... as much as i hate to say it lol
Done like it. A rotation of the handle isn't the right place for control. I like the outer hub or a pin system. It might be an extra step, but I like that. Changing weight needs to be more than a weak wrist for the day.
Ordered these gen 2’s on November 25th. Still haven’t received them but definitely looking forward to getting them based on everyone else’s reviews and experience. Only paid $650 for them because of black Friday and no shipping.
I don't know why I keep watching these. My ironmasters are perfect. Indestructible, perfect handles, any weight, share the weight with their kb handles... Perfect system
Haven't got anybody to answer this one... Can I actuate the handle by doing a clean or snatch? The same question applies to any of the rotating handle dumbbells.
Little late on this one but as far as I know the handles will only rotate when it's mounted in the bracket/stand. That way you're not dropping plates on yourself doing dynamic movements.
I just started working out a few months back and I'm a skinny 60 year old man and may never need dumbbells even as much as 50lbs, so for people like me adjustable dumbbells are a waste of money, I just buy fixed one's as I need them!
I guess if nuobell dumbbells break, I will get these next! I do agree about the weight Increments I like 5 pound change for many reasons like doing dropsets.
I like the idea of them moving in small increments. Typically you want to move up in smaller increments especially with dumbbells instead of 5 or 10lbs at a time. I have a set of snodes with the magnets and a set of powerblocks and a set of iron masters that I'm selling now. I might try these to replace my powerblocks.
@@mrtupeq during the covid lockdowns I decided to build a small gym in my house. Iron masters were the only dumbbells I could find back then. Then when power blocks became available I wanted to try something that was faster than the iron masters and same thing once I saw you could drop the snodes with damaging them I had to try a set on those. Now I'm selling the iron masters and maybe the power blocks. And not to sound arrogant, but I'm 63, I'm finished rearing children and I can afford to play around a little unitl I get exactly what I want for my home gym. I hope this answers your question.

Leaning towards reps dumbells as they just looked to be most durable and have best design. I am not sure If 60lbs is enought long run ... I want to add a 1¼ pound weight to it before I even lift it, to make the "8.5 lb"/ 4 kg handle an even 10 pounds. Then the weights would go 10, 13⅓, 16⅔, 20 and the pattern would repeat every 10 pounds (but actually 4.5 kg / 9.92 lb). Micro Gainz and Rogue make such dumbbell addon weights, I'm sure there are others.
I dont worry about my dumbells anymore. I used to go buy the ones that look fancy and are crazy adjustable and whatnot, but then realized they were costing me a fortune and tbh i VERY rarely had them on any setting other than the heaviest. Now i just look entirely at weight and price. My body doesnt know if im lifting 20kg that cost me 60 bucks or 20s that cost me several hundred and i can reduce it to 19.75 kg if i want to
Regarding the weights being based on Kg, there're around 200 countries in the world, only three (3) still officially use the Imperial system! Myanmar, Liberia and........ The U.S. 😁
I personally like the odd lbs. easier progressive overload at 2-3 pound increments. Lift for yourself to get better not to see fancy numbers. Just my opinion, good vid!
I am OCD to a fault, and after thinking about it, I do prefer the weird incremental weight increases. I'm getting older, so I sure don't need 10 pound only increments, and sometimes not even 5 pound increments. I ordered a set!
I ordered these based off your review. It’s been 2 weeks since I ordered and they have not shipped yet. They said it would be another 7-12 days before they were shipped. I’ve been reading lots of reviews where people have had shipping issues. Just an FYI for anybody looking at buying these.
Same... I ordered on Jan 25 - still no shipping label created almost 4 weeks later. Spoke with a rep who conveyed the label would be created mid Feb and then shipment would be received this week. Neither has been true so far. Going to reach out again to get an update before cancelling the order. If anyone has actually ordered and received these, pls comment.
I ordered my dumbells a month ago. I was told they would ship out in 5 days. They didn’t ship out until the last week and now UPS is telling me they don’t have the order. Not sure what is going on with this company but judging by these comments it appears several other people have had this issue.
@@aaronwatson5348 Looks like the guy is drop shipping the product- he is out of Canada but product itself is coming from China. As stated - originally ordered on 1/25, I got a notification that a shipping label was created on 2/22, no movement on shipment until 2/29, then a rep from UPS reached out to me on 3/5 asking for my information and to confirm the shipment. She said that the shipper was sending all orders out at the same time (which is probably why they got flagged) and was trying to ship as if they were coming from Canada vs the actual origin which is China. UPS rep mentioned there are additional taxes the govt collects when coming from China and also requires additional clearance. In any case, its 3/8 and I still do not see any update via UPS Tracking number other than "UPS has received the information needed to submit your package for clearance" which was on 3/5. I will update here if I ever actually receive them, going to give it another few weeks before escalating to get my money back. Just a heads up to anyone else looking to order.
Update - did finally receive the dumbells and they are as advertised. Have only used them for a few days but they have worked well so far - just as shown in the video. If you are not in a rush and can live with a 2 month+ shipping process, then these are a good option. I will say that the person running the company was responsive and gave got back to me via phone or whatsapp text within 24 hours when I reached out for an update. Biggest issue (other than the company drop shipping process, "backorder") seemed like the import and clearance process when shipping to the US, as customs held up shipments for weeks before releasing to complete shipment.
Man, you spoke too soon. They're now $730. Oh well, still a better price than Nuobell, so I'll be getting them. The extra 12 lb per dumbbell compared to Nuobell is huge for me and enough to make me go for these.

I agree with coop, those are odd weight increments for sure. Company should just make one set in kg and another in lbs. But I understand why they don't.
My Snobebells kick ass, I concentrate on the muscles so much I really don’t go over 60 pounds. I do have the magnets, but I’m not a power lifter I’m a sculptor. I do live in Houston and my gym is in a garage, so I do see little signs of rust, but nothing that vinegar can’t take away.
I think smrtft have fixed that 5lb fragility issue on the nuobells. I just bought a set this week and they are different than what you show. The 5lb is no longer a ‘shaved’ plate.
The odd lb. increments are strange, but I don't think it has anything to do with the metric system. Using a conversion factor of 2.2046: 8.5lbs=3.86kg 12lbs=5.44kg 15.5lbs=7.03kg 19lbs=8.61kg And so on... It was done as a matter of convenience it would seem to me.
These look nice.I guess there are reasons, but why not go to an even 100 pounds? Would be a good selling point. I would take a look if I were in the market. I've had my Nuobells for a couple of years now, use them at least 4 or 5 times a week, and have had zero issues. I don't really drop any of my equipment, so I can't speak to that, but they are rock solid in normal use and i like the size and the aesthetics. It looks like these are very similar in design philosophy. An easy way to get more increments, if you need them, is to just stick on some magnetic platemates.
I ordered Gen 2 back on Black Friday ! Needed to wait for a restock (after I completed my order) plus the holiday season wait time, so I still haven’t received mine but I’m really excited for the upgrade from the basic 52.5 lb bow flex dumbells!!!
I’m definitely interested in a pair of heavy adjustable dumbbells, but the kg to lbs conversion on these is a bit annoying. I’m probably going to wait to see what Reps 120lbd are like.

I think there’s a misunderstanding with regards to kg vs lbs. The weight increments don’t match up with regular kilogram gym dumbells at all either. The increments are smaller than 2.5kg. Which is a good thing.

Warranty Warning: Based on very quick research it looks like this is most likely a Chinese company using an original Chinese design, but using Canada as a North American front for their business. The address on their site is a self-storage unit in Calgary, i.e. Sentinel Self Storage, their website is riddled with spelling mistakes, and their ToS is a generic template copied off of the internet. This doesn't mean the dumbbells aren't high quality but it is information worth knowing.
EDIT - it looks like they updated their address. It was 7725 112 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T3R 1R8. It's now 135a 250 Aero Link Ne T2E 7X8, Calgary, Canada. It appears to be a logistics company/warehouse but it also appears to have multiple, obviously related business, operating out of that location.

@@GorgeousBalls I noticed this as well. If the smaller weights were discounted I'd consider it a good gamble but otherwise it was a bit to risky for me as I am not particularly cash-strapped. I still think its a good option (which is why I clicked) but caveat emptor as they say.
I’ve had the 92 lbs gen 2s for a few months now. The numbering doesn’t bother me at all. The increments from one weight to the next are so small that even an old guy like me has been able to steadily increase the poundages. I use Versa Gripps on heavier rows so the thicker handle is not an issue. Strong recommendation!

Had them for two weeks now and really like them. Took just over 3 weeks from order to delivery with no customs fees and the weight increments are fine. The bar is a little big but no issue for me and the gnurling is good.
The "weird" increments wouldn't bother me. The smaller jumps are awesome for progression for certain exercises with smaller muscles like with lateral raises with delts or just using smaller jumps in general.

I think the weight increments are all the same, it's just that rounding when converting makes it seem uneven in pounds.

The smaller weight jumps can help if you are pressing heavy and trying to progress…it is much more difficult to press 90s going from 85s rather than doing like 87.5 for a while then building up to 90s

Assassin goods in the UK do a near identical version of these. Not sure if they’re all from the same factory or a knock off but they have a weird kg scheme up to 41.5kg in 1.5kg jumps
I can understand why people might not like the non-standard weight adjustments, but in my opinion it is superior. It doesn't really make it any harder or longer to adjust the increments and you get more. Also, compared to Nuobells, it is a nice upgrade to have them go to 92 pounds - big difference if you need the heavier increments

Yeah I agree with you Steve. I mean the biggest problem I have is going up 5 lb to the next weight. I love these small increments. Hey, do you think these would survive if I bailed on the lift and drop them on crash pads? Or are they kind of delicate?
@@cryptomando I never used them so I don't know. But they don't market that aspect so they probably are fragile. That being said, it is similar for Nuobells and you generally don't see people complaining about broken Nuobells. My guess is they would not hold up well to drops
I would rather see consistent intervals not seemly randomized 3 or 4 lb changes. Each plate should be the same, and each step the same regardless of lbs or kg at the very least for marketing purposes.

The funny thing about the weight increments is...how many of our home gym equipment we love and have used daily for years are slightly off the stated weight anyway? Keep improving at a given lift and getting stronger is getting stronger, 1 pound of kilo at a time.
Thanks for the great review Coop! I've owned these for a few weeks now and am happy so far with my choice. The odd weight increments aren't really a big deal at all, as your muscles don't care if you progress them in 3 or 4 lb increments vs. 5 lb increments. In fact they may thank you for it!
Ordered a set of these (shown as in-stock) on 1/20/2024. Finally received the delivery today on 3/22/2024. Packaging was torn to shreds, one set of weight plates were loose inside a large box that didn't have Trulap branding, and the stand was completely missing from my order. Product quality itself seems fine, but I agree with the other commenter that this seems like a Canadian front for a Chinese drop shipping operation. I sent a complaint in to Trulap today about the missing stand and will update this comment with more information as I have it. For now, I'd probably urge buyers to do additional research and not just take Coop's word for it on this one. I'll be more cautious about taking GGR advice without additional vetting in the future.

Support responded quickly that the stand was back in stock (again, it was shown as in-stock at the time of purchase) and would be shipping within the week. This was 4 days ago and it has not shipped yet. They also said that they dealt with a customs issue that was causing delays. Will report back when I have more info.

I purchased the Gen 1 back in July and the odd increments don't bother me. I had the bowflex 1090 for nine years so these are a major upgrade. Both my cradles came cracked but the company sent me two more as soon as I notified them. I've been waiting on you to review these, now I know why it took so long.
I'm rehabbing a bicep tendon and will soon need some heavier dumbbells and decided a adjustable set will work. I bought the 52 lb TRULAP set and they just arrived. Looks like a quality set and we may upgrade them when the time comes. I also picked up a used Hammer Strength adjustable bench in excellent condition - overkill but a great bench. Coop not being able to get over different weight increments is funny AF. Looked like his brain was about to explode. Nice to see more competition in this segment. I'd still probably go with the Rep adjustables for the warranty but these might be a good second place with the large number of weight increments depending on how they hold up in the long term.

I literally just got mine. They ship to EU which is amazing. I did wait about 7 weeks but considering the holidays and US-EU transport its perfectly fine. Havent done a workout with them yet but they feel amazing in the hand. One concern (will see how it'll turn out later in practice) is that when I loaded one of the dumbells to full and was moving it around, the last end plate fell out of socket to the ground. luckily I got rubber floors and it missed my foot but its a concern for actual workouts.
PS: the ones shipped to EU come with KG markings instead of lbs, which is great for me. If it was a concern for anyone.

I'm in Croatia and other than the shipping cost calculated during checkout I didn't get charged any tolls or taxes. But I think that depends partially on the border investigator so another day might have been different. At least thats Croatia :D Cause I did buy a book from UK once and got some extra border cost when it got here

Their website doesn't allow you to select a delivery address outside of the UK, but if you send them an email they'll probably be able to help you out like they helped me. Mind you, they're not called Trulap on their website; they just refer to them as Adjustable Dumbbells V2.
They sell in Europe as Pumpbells, Dutch website, probably ship to Belgium for free as well. I got mine during Black Friday. The end plate who fell was probably misassembled. There are 4 plates thar are different from the rest and need to be in the end and in the correct orientation. If done so, all of then lock very tightly.
@@kauerpc Pumpbells and Trulap are different dumbbells entirely, though. Pumpbells are 1 kg increments and go up to 32 kg, whereas Trulap (or their UK equivalent at Assassin Goods) are 1.5 kg increments and go up to 41.5 kg
Had my USA powerblocks for almost 10 years now. Could expand to 90 but 70 has always been good for me. My favorite part is still the double hand grip when turning them over for things like pullovers and goblet squats. For me, the effort to emulate the standard Dumbell with an adjustable one just never gets there so the powerblocks with their contrarian design just works best for me. And I don’t toss them around so not worried about breaking. Happy New Year Coop!
Just ordered the power block exp from woot with the stand. They were a killer deal so I bought 90 so I didn't regret it later.
I've also had Powerblocks Sport EXP up to stage 2 (70lb) for 5 years. I still prefer the balance of a traditional dumbbell, the PB are like putting your hand inside a toaster and I have often thought about swapping for nuobell. However the PB are a simple design, as long as they aren't dropped them they should last 50 years+, where as I would think the rachet style handle will wear overtime meaning the nuobell style might become faulty in 5 to 10 years. Being sensible I'm sticking with PB's, it's bullet proof.

I just got those in the mailbox today, and the least we could say is - they're fantastic. The only thing I had to worry about is the shipping process (I live in France, so I had to wait for them for three months), but damn that was worth the wait. Clearly a true level up in my home gym.
After ordering the EzBlocks and getting scammed by never receiving the product nor the refund, I was really sceptical; Trulap have solved it!

Weight increments as noted below are actually a positive for those more mature lifters lifting at max reps and wts, the tiny increments will really help me make improvements that can be noted in the workout notebook for future gains.

Since I am from Germany I am used to the metric systems, that aside I think the small increments are really good especially when you are training near your limit with few repetitions. What bothers me in most Gyms in Germany have Dumbbells (here called "Kurzhanteln") from 1 - 10 kg, and the 2,5 kg increments so the next step is 12,5 than 15 and so forth. There are situations where you can do your repetitions with lets say 15kg but 17,5 is just to heavy for a clean set. So yeah I think small increments are really nice.
Currently have the nuobells, but if they were to ever break after the warranty is up, these might be the replacement! Thanks for the review, Coop and team.
I have the first generation and love them. They are my first pair of adjustable dumbbells, but even the slight rattle isn’t that noticeable because I’m not doing quick jerky movements. And I don’t mind or notice the small incremental changes. And it does actually come in handy when I just need to drop the weight a few pounds.
I ordered these at the start of their Black Friday sale around 11/10/2023. The Black Friday deal I got was $750 for the dumbbells and rack. I found a discount code online somewhere which brought the price down to $712 I believe. The stand at the time was out of stock and they promised to ship when they arrived. I received the dumbbells within a week. It has been almost two months, and I am still waiting for the stand.
I love these dumbbells. I like the "odd" weight increments, especially with isolation movements. I have some 1.25-pound Platemates to get any weight that I may want.
The one thing that is never mentioned about any of the quick adjustable dumbells is that if you like to do drop sets or supersets using dumbells you would either need to bring the whole stack with cradle with you or be right next to either the stand you have them on or wherever you have the stack to adjust the weight down to continue your drop set. With Powerblocks you don’t have to deal with the whole stack, cradle ect. to change weight. Something that’s never mentioned

I think the advantage of smaller weight increments will outweigh the weird numbers. I would buy an adjustable DB if it was 100 lbs and could be regularly dropped after bench pressing. The Quick Draws are close, just a little too light.

These will probably be my top option when I get around to upgrading from my loadable handles. About the same weight as Ironmasters with the heavy handle upgrade, but way quicker to use. The weird increments wouldn't bother me, since it's just numbers in a spreadsheet to me.
The weird weight increments would definitely bother me, but not enough to prevent a purchase if they were a really good dumbbell. I'm still holding out to see what Rep does with their heavier adjustable.
I own powerblocks and the fact that it can't do certain amounts bothers me (ie: 5lbs, 7.5,lbs, 10lbs, 15lbs.. You can never get that 2.5lb increment) I think this would bother me less. Weight is weight and as long as it goes up in somewhat even increments, I think i;d be ok with it.
Well you COULD train in international actual competition (oh an SCIENCE) units, and buy them with kg on them. But I get it ... 100 pounds sounds better than .... what ... 45kg?

If you have a dumbbell that has attachable 16 Kg, 8 Kg, 4 Kg, 2 Kg, and 1 Kg units, you can make any amount between 1 KG and 31 Kg by attaching different arrangements of those weights.
I have 2 cheap spinwheel dumbels on a diy loader. Consists of two wood rails and on both sides wood to keep the plates from falling. Slide the plates inward, give it a spin and done. (Have the 1,25 / 2,5 at the ends for micro increments).
Cheap and fast.
It’s crazy how many people are thrown off by weight increments that aren’t increments of 5. You’re just lifting as much weight as you need to get stronger, what the exact number lands at is completely arbitrary.
I went the route of loadable dumbbells that I can use standard plates with. Yes they are bulkier but I can with what I have I can adjust by 2.5lbs per dumbbell listed as max of 350, though admit that putting much bigger then 10lbs plates could easily get awkward.
This means I can share my plates between the dumbbells and my barbell, I don't have to worry about special stand for them, and the weights are as stable as your clips. I can also buy plates over time and spread out the cost, and I'm not worried that 2 years from now when I need that heavy expansion I won't be able to get standard 2in plates.
A set of rogue's larger ones with collars would be $400, York legacy iron plates from rogue as well; 4x2.5lbs plates, 4x5lbs plates, 8x10lbs plates $245.32. Total $645.32 from the site right now, you can adjust by 5lbs increments 15-70lbs. Added bonus you can grow more past that by adding more 10s at 4 for $89.20 (I did not buy rogue, just picking a more well known name and a higher priced brand. Mine are some China brand from Amazon and CAP plates.)

I’ll take aggressive knurling over passive any day! Especially on a heavier dumbbell. Dainties can use gloves. Nuobell needs to take note and fix their passive knurling.

Thanks Coop! In my gym, I've got adjustable dumbbells that only show kg, but I have some microplates that are lbs. So, I was constantly calculating in my head, ok, 17.5kg dumbells with a 2.5lb micrplate... wtf! So I made a spreadsheet with all possible combinations, printed it out, and hung it on the wall in my garage. Problem solved!

This exact dumbbell is available in the UK but its called the Stealth Dumbbell. Not sure why they change their name but it does support Chinese manufacturing. Seem to get reasonable reviews though. Spare parts are available but my concern is that there are none for the version 1. I don't know if they are interchangeable, if not, makes you wonder if your dumbbells will be fixable down the line.
These were not designed in kg and converted to lbs. Doing the conversion: They start at 3.86kg (8.5lbs) and go up steadily by 1.59kg (3.5lbs) increments all the way up 41.73 kg. (92lbs).

I am annoyed that they don't have 2.5 lb increments because I am a HUGE Dr Mike (RP Hypertrophy and App) follower and when my workouts call for an increase or decrease of 2.5 lbs I can never get them with the ones I chose (don't hate - they were from Dick's called Ethos and much cheaper for a 1st time home gym investment). I was so stoked thinking "YES! These are what I need to achieve that in my workouts.." HA! Fooled again 🤣 I would be so peeved if I had purchased and then realized the increments are so WEIRD! Ironmasters are still the way to go. Yes, they take longer but they will literally last forever and you can drop them as much as you want.
I've had so many adjustable dumbbells and recently sold my Nuobells to go back to Powerblock, but this time with their knurled handles and WAUW... that is THE BEST dumbbell I've ever tried. Powerblock with knurled handle is 100% my choice, always. Trulaps grip is also way too thick (as well as the new Powerblock Pro 100 has a grip that is way too thick, but the rest with a normal and great 32mm handle is amazing).
I was thinking about getting the new Powerblock 100's. I know the only complaint people have with Powerblocks is the "uneven feeling" you get from the weighted handles as well as the cage limiting your range and potential exercises you can do. Do you experience any of those issues when using your Powerblocks? Thanks.

I do not like the thick handles on the Pro 100, and they are also a bit too big for my taste, but to each their own.
The "uneven feeling" is incredible slight and if you get knurled handles.. it's not even there. It will of course be there a little, when you use the adder weights, but in use it doesn't bother me, as I only use it when I've maxed out on the weight above, so that you can go one down and add the adder weights.
In my HONEST opinion (and I've owned 3 versions of powerblocks, some bowflex, off brand dumbbells and also both versions of Nuobells.. my Pro EXP with Knurled handles are BY FAR the best. And the two round bars for the adder weights under the Powerblocks are AMAZING for a bunch of exercises where people would usually think that a dumbbell is not that good or to make an alternate verson of exercises where the cage could be annoying.
Nuobells are great, and you can see one fanboy already commented on my post (because people always feel the need to validate and praise what they just bought), but in my opinion, again, Powerblock + Knurled handles = perfecton.
Without the knurled handle, Powerblocks are still great, but it makes a huge difference. @@Dial_J_for_Josh

Done like it. A rotation of the handle isn't the right place for control. I like the outer hub or a pin system. It might be an extra step, but I like that. Changing weight needs to be more than a weak wrist for the day.
Ordered these gen 2’s on November 25th. Still haven’t received them but definitely looking forward to getting them based on everyone else’s reviews and experience. Only paid $650 for them because of black Friday and no shipping.

Haven't got anybody to answer this one... Can I actuate the handle by doing a clean or snatch?
The same question applies to any of the rotating handle dumbbells.
Little late on this one but as far as I know the handles will only rotate when it's mounted in the bracket/stand. That way you're not dropping plates on yourself doing dynamic movements.
I just started working out a few months back and I'm a skinny 60 year old man and may never need dumbbells even as much as 50lbs, so for people like me adjustable dumbbells are a waste of money, I just buy fixed one's as I need them!
I guess if nuobell dumbbells break, I will get these next! I do agree about the weight Increments I like 5 pound change for many reasons like doing dropsets.

I like the idea of them moving in small increments. Typically you want to move up in smaller increments especially with dumbbells instead of 5 or 10lbs at a time. I have a set of snodes with the magnets and a set of powerblocks and a set of iron masters that I'm selling now. I might try these to replace my powerblocks.

@@mrtupeq during the covid lockdowns I decided to build a small gym in my house. Iron masters were the only dumbbells I could find back then. Then when power blocks became available I wanted to try something that was faster than the iron masters and same thing once I saw you could drop the snodes with damaging them I had to try a set on those. Now I'm selling the iron masters and maybe the power blocks. And not to sound arrogant, but I'm 63, I'm finished rearing children and I can afford to play around a little unitl I get exactly what I want for my home gym. I hope this answers your question.

Leaning towards reps dumbells as they just looked to be most durable and have best design. I am not sure If 60lbs is enought long run ... These trulaps 92lbs on other hand are almost too heavy for me.. atleast for now
Make your own pound to kilogram chart and put it on your home gym wall for every dialed setting on your Trulap.

I want to add a 1¼ pound weight to it before I even lift it, to make the "8.5 lb"/ 4 kg handle an even 10 pounds. Then the weights would go 10, 13⅓, 16⅔, 20 and the pattern would repeat every 10 pounds (but actually 4.5 kg / 9.92 lb).
Micro Gainz and Rogue make such dumbbell addon weights, I'm sure there are others.

Really like the look of the Trulaps, have to keep an eye on them when I do my next home gym expansion/upgrade.
I dont worry about my dumbells anymore. I used to go buy the ones that look fancy and are crazy adjustable and whatnot, but then realized they were costing me a fortune and tbh i VERY rarely had them on any setting other than the heaviest. Now i just look entirely at weight and price. My body doesnt know if im lifting 20kg that cost me 60 bucks or 20s that cost me several hundred and i can reduce it to 19.75 kg if i want to

Regarding the weights being based on Kg, there're around 200 countries in the world, only three (3) still officially use the Imperial system! Myanmar, Liberia and........ The U.S. 😁
I've just been picking up big rocks in the backyard and finding a bigger one when needed.
I personally like the odd lbs. easier progressive overload at 2-3 pound increments. Lift for yourself to get better not to see fancy numbers. Just my opinion, good vid!
I am OCD to a fault, and after thinking about it, I do prefer the weird incremental weight increases. I'm getting older, so I sure don't need 10 pound only increments, and sometimes not even 5 pound increments. I ordered a set!

I ordered these based off your review. It’s been 2 weeks since I ordered and they have not shipped yet. They said it would be another 7-12 days before they were shipped. I’ve been reading lots of reviews where people have had shipping issues. Just an FYI for anybody looking at buying these.
Same... I ordered on Jan 25 - still no shipping label created almost 4 weeks later. Spoke with a rep who conveyed the label would be created mid Feb and then shipment would be received this week. Neither has been true so far. Going to reach out again to get an update before cancelling the order. If anyone has actually ordered and received these, pls comment.
I ordered my dumbells a month ago. I was told they would ship out in 5 days. They didn’t ship out until the last week and now UPS is telling me they don’t have the order. Not sure what is going on with this company but judging by these comments it appears several other people have had this issue.
@@aaronwatson5348 Looks like the guy is drop shipping the product- he is out of Canada but product itself is coming from China. As stated - originally ordered on 1/25, I got a notification that a shipping label was created on 2/22, no movement on shipment until 2/29, then a rep from UPS reached out to me on 3/5 asking for my information and to confirm the shipment. She said that the shipper was sending all orders out at the same time (which is probably why they got flagged) and was trying to ship as if they were coming from Canada vs the actual origin which is China. UPS rep mentioned there are additional taxes the govt collects when coming from China and also requires additional clearance. In any case, its 3/8 and I still do not see any update via UPS Tracking number other than "UPS has received the information needed to submit your package for clearance" which was on 3/5. I will update here if I ever actually receive them, going to give it another few weeks before escalating to get my money back. Just a heads up to anyone else looking to order.
Update - did finally receive the dumbells and they are as advertised. Have only used them for a few days but they have worked well so far - just as shown in the video. If you are not in a rush and can live with a 2 month+ shipping process, then these are a good option. I will say that the person running the company was responsive and gave got back to me via phone or whatsapp text within 24 hours when I reached out for an update. Biggest issue (other than the company drop shipping process, "backorder") seemed like the import and clearance process when shipping to the US, as customs held up shipments for weeks before releasing to complete shipment.
I finally received mine. They are awesome. Worth the headache of shipping time to the US.
I am waiting for the REP 120lbs adjustables.

Man, you spoke too soon. They're now $730. Oh well, still a better price than Nuobell, so I'll be getting them. The extra 12 lb per dumbbell compared to Nuobell is huge for me and enough to make me go for these.

I agree with coop, those are odd weight increments for sure. Company should just make one set in kg and another in lbs. But I understand why they don't.

My Snobebells kick ass, I concentrate on the muscles so much I really don’t go over 60 pounds. I do have the magnets, but I’m not a power lifter I’m a sculptor. I do live in Houston and my gym is in a garage, so I do see little signs of rust, but nothing that vinegar can’t take away.
I think smrtft have fixed that 5lb fragility issue on the nuobells. I just bought a set this week and they are different than what you show. The 5lb is no longer a ‘shaved’ plate.

The odd lb. increments are strange, but I don't think it has anything to do with the metric system. Using a conversion factor of 2.2046:
8.5lbs=3.86kg
12lbs=5.44kg
15.5lbs=7.03kg
19lbs=8.61kg
And so on...
It was done as a matter of convenience it would seem to me.

These look nice.I guess there are reasons, but why not go to an even 100 pounds? Would be a good selling point. I would take a look if I were in the market. I've had my Nuobells for a couple of years now, use them at least 4 or 5 times a week, and have had zero issues. I don't really drop any of my equipment, so I can't speak to that, but they are rock solid in normal use and i like the size and the aesthetics. It looks like these are very similar in design philosophy. An easy way to get more increments, if you need them, is to just stick on some magnetic platemates.

I ordered Gen 2 back on Black Friday ! Needed to wait for a restock (after I completed my order) plus the holiday season wait time, so I still haven’t received mine but I’m really excited for the upgrade from the basic 52.5 lb bow flex dumbells!!!
