Такие машины как Урал, ЗИЛ 131, 157 являются в первую очередь военными грузовиками, отличаются невероятной живучестью на поле боя (доставка боеприпасов и личного состава, шасси для реактивной артиллерии Град, Ураган, Смерч и т.д), возможен любой ремонт в полевых условиях. Известны случаи, когда Урал после подрыва на мине вывозил солдат из под огня без воды, без масла, без шин на колёсах.
