Unfortunately it’s not. Neither one is great by any means but the extended cab has more problems than what it shows. Mechanically and structurally the regular cab is better of the two
Subd, can’t wait to see how the project progresses. Curious if you had thought about swapping the drivetrain from the single to the extended for more room?
The extended cab needs quite a bit of work unfortunately. He’s looking to eventually turn it into more of a hot rod so he liked the look of the regular cab for that. And an engine swap is something he has been talking about so you might see that in the future 😎
I'm doing the same from a 1999 to a 2002 😁 it's been a challenge. But just the old timers that worked on the old classics I'm doing the same with a more modern truck. I'm enjoying doing it😁
While you had the gauge cluster out you should have replaced the stock bulbs with LED's, makes a huge difference, also put some time and effort into cleaning and polishing the wheels and replace the center caps, the wheels always make the most impact on a vehicles looks, I think you did it backwards, I would fix all the mechanical issues on the extended cab as it is a much more usable and practical vehicle, the standard cab has extremely limited interior space but I get that wasn't your goal here, do what ya can with what ya got without spending a bunch of money, the 10th Gen models are one of the best trucks ever made, the next generation with the 3 valve 5.4 was the complete opposite.
Yeah there is definitely more to do in making it look nice and giving it some upgrades. Future plans do include doing some more detail work on the truck.
Did I just see you guys bolt on good parts on the rust infested truck? And you addressed none of the rust? I thought avoiding the extended cab was a mistake but the rust too…?
100% Agree with you, fixing the rust, then bodywork and paint is the correct thing to do. With the time we had that afternoon we knew that wasn’t going to happen, so the goal was just to see what we could do to make the truck better. But we can always go back and do metalwork on the truck for sure.
Dang, the parts truck appears to be the nicer of the two!

Subbed to hopefully see more on this truck as we are fixing back my 01 xlt to get it back on the road
Thanks for the sub! Will be more on this truck at some point.

On the back 4.2 v 6 i have bad smell ing gas coming out of a tube on the drivers side of The motor
Could be the crossover tube for the fuel rail maybe. Might have a crack in the tube
How much for the '79 4x4 in the back there?
That one isn’t for sale at the moment. We actually just got that one running again. Planning to feature it on the channel soon 😎
