Nice video..very helpful. I just bought a 10th gen F-150 and I'm excited to get it all nice and clean. Already got new headlights and headunit. Had to replace the door lock motors. And I did a paint correction, it looks great. These are such nice trucks. Appreciate you!! 💯
Yeah the console option over a bench seat would’ve been cool. Most people probably wouldn’t have done it in a single cab, but it’s definitely cooler lol.
Great video,,I like how you changed things up. Very nice. What dud dud do with your old seat cover material, I've been looking for that pattern fir my 2003 stx .Looking forward to your next video.
Hi cool videos, when you did your electric windows on truck did you use single cab door panels or the extra cab ones?? And console and seats looks good 👍
@marcoabasolo3758 Correct. Technically 4 doors, but the rear windows aren’t electric. From what I remember anyway. I don’t think there were any single cab trucks on the yard at the time, so it must’ve been a super cab, because the super crew would’ve had too many buttons. I mean you could still use the panel from a super crew, you’d just have extra holes to deal with assuming you’re working on a 2 door truck.
Nice project, sad to see there haven't been any updates on it in a while. I'm also doing a Lightning conversion with my manual 99 sport. I'm wondering if that front tray could be removed to allow space for a shifter.
Thank you. I cracked a piston on it so I got a new (to me) truck. I still have this one, but time and money will need to align to do an engine swap into it.
It’s a ball and socket. If you look closely you can see that I used a ball joint separator fork to get it there and just pop it loose. To reinstall just line it up and give it a firm push to pop it back it place.
Hello quick question 🙋♂️ For the tap since it’s metric you would just need a m10 and m12 correct?? And does the depth matter or have a tap all the way through
@@GooseAutoWorks thank you. Also I don’t believe you mentioned the tap size for the seat. Any chance you remember?? Recently picked up a lightning driver seat and center console for 170. Might get a cut Lightning passenger side seat this weekend also so I’ll be able to start the swap.
@@GooseAutoWorks I did the swap on Sunday. It took me 5-6 hours. I bought the harbor freight metric tap set and I highly recommend not to buy it. The 12x1.75 was impossible to tap. The wrench was so flimsy and kept slipping since it had little to no surface area making contact with the tap. I struggled an hour or two before I gave up and used a smaller bolt with a nut under the cab. I also had a small gap under the console but I bolted the brackets above the carpet so that might have something to do with it. I converted my driver seat from electric to manual. Seats went in smooth although I only have 3 bolts holding them down since I couldn’t tap the hole for the 4th bolt.
I got my tap set of Amazon. It was cheap, but for the job done. Using oil or cutting lubricant helps. If you end up having to bolt something in the way you mentioned I would at least use some Grade 8 hardware if you didn’t already.
You’ve got to get a seat pan and bracket from an expedition or F150 that came with a center console. Then you have to cut the foam to remove the center seat of the bench. Your best bet is to buy an entire passenger seat from a junk yard or eBay because the brackets are discontinued. Check the video description for part numbers.
Did you put down any sound deadening under your carpet in the cab while you had it all out? It's obviously not entirely necessary, but it definitely can't hurt 👍🏼
I actually filmed a video of doing the carpet as well, but decided it wasn’t enough meaningful content to be a stand alone video. But I still have the footage so I could always post it if I decided to.
I just updated the description to include links. It should, yeah. You’d need the bench seat with pan and its mounting brackets. You’ll have to plug a hole or two you’re no longer using after the switch, but I don’t see a problem with being able to do it.
You could do it on a crew cab too. This console came and seat pan came from an Expedition after all. The back of it even has climate control vents and there’s a blower motor inside. It not hooked up to anything in my case, but it’s there.

Thanks for all the kind words, and good luck in your project endeavors!
Ford should have put these in at the factory!

That’s a great write up man!
Thanks, I appreciate it! Doin’ what I can lol
Mine is leaning to one end slightly so going to attach it the way u did it

Thanks, Man. I threw it out. I feel like a replacement seat cover has to be out there, but I haven’t really looked, myself.
That narrow top console is for seats with armrest.
All I could find at the time in good condition were narrow tops. A wide top would have been preferred, yes.
Hi cool videos, when you did your electric windows on truck did you use single cab door panels or the extra cab ones??

Thanks, Man! I think it was a super cab truck, so technically 4 doors, but there were only switches for the front driver and passenger doors.
So i guess it was a extra cab the one with the small suicide doors for the rear, ??
Because supercrew are the 4 doors.

Absolutely! Thanks for watching! 😀
You used your original seat plastic for the side and the original seat back? So only the Expy pan is needed?
Well in addition to the console itself and its 2 mounting brackets, you’ll need the Expedition pan and the mounting brackets to the floor.
Nice project, sad to see there haven't been any updates on it in a while. I'm also doing a Lightning conversion with my manual 99 sport. I'm wondering if that front tray could be removed to allow space for a shifter.

@@GooseAutoWorks that's too bad man. I hope it works out.
8:56 how did you remove the top of the seat from the support on the side of the console?
It’s a ball and socket. If you look closely you can see that I used a ball joint separator fork to get it there and just pop it loose. To reinstall just line it up and give it a firm push to pop it back it place.
I just got a pos 10th gen, could i just put the two bracket in where they go, then weld them when they're overtop where the tap circles are
I mean yeah, I guess so lol. Go for it!
Hello quick question 🙋♂️
For the tap since it’s metric you would just need a m10 and m12 correct?? And does the depth matter or have a tap all the way through
Thanks for the question, yes, the 10 and 12. And go all the way through. The holes are open to the outside of the cab.
@@GooseAutoWorks thank you. Also I don’t believe you mentioned the tap size for the seat. Any chance you remember??

It should be the same 10x1.5 that the old bench seat used.

Hey I got a 60 40 bench seat in my 2003 F150 how'd you turn your passenger seat into a bucket?

The carpet I ordered had deadening/insulation attached to it already.
I actually filmed a video of doing the carpet as well, but decided it wasn’t enough meaningful content to be a stand alone video. But I still have the footage so I could always post it if I decided to.
What kind of paint did you use?
I just updated the description to include links. Here they are:

You just spray painted the console pieces?
Yes, using the SEM interior paint from LMR. I’ve got links on the description for the colors.
Is that a narrow lid or wide lid console.
This one is narrow. I probably would’ve liked the wider lid, but this is what was available at the time.
would this work vice versa. i have a ford expedition i wanna put a seat in front instead of the center console. so it has a 3seater front cab
It should, yeah. You’d need the bench seat with pan and its mounting brackets. You’ll have to plug a hole or two you’re no longer using after the switch, but I don’t see a problem with being able to do it.
is this only for regular/extended cabs?
You could do it on a crew cab too. This console came and seat pan came from an Expedition after all. The back of it even has climate control vents and there’s a blower motor inside. It not hooked up to anything in my case, but it’s there.
