100% Disney could revert to sole international distribution & the BBC fund it but for me it won't be a full season probably specials for Xmas, New Year & Easter. DW still makes a lot of money globally for BBC Studios as the latest earnings report proved
@@Riptych No doubt & it proves that until the BBC know exactly how much money (understandable) they will have for production on S3 they cannot proceed. No one is prepared to greenlight anything without knowing where the money is coming from. The huge problem is Ncuti & his schedule after his theatre stint. In Jan he is not waiting around for months of 2025 for decisions to be made but I can see him doing some specials filming in late 2025 for a New Year & Xmas plan for 2026/7 🤔
Simply put, I think the current 2 year contract is simply a trial period. Once Season 2 releases and they see for certain if they want to continue, the next contract may be for longer. I still think that Doctor Who should've partnered with Paramount+ though. That way, maybe they could do a proper Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover.
Exactly, if Disney weren't to renew the deal then the BBC would just go back to making it on a lesser budget and that would be fine, the biggest issue would mainly be international distribution since it would once again limit the international reach but the show would still be made regardless.
The TV landscape is still changing massively. Don’t forget BBC can still make and deliver Doctor Who without Disney. They did it before and can do it again. If Disney didn’t want it, doesn’t mean it’ll be automatically cancelled. It does raise an interesting point that the BBC could provide international access to its shows via iPlayer through a log in / subscription service for those outside the UK so they could sell the Whoniverse to the world without Disney. I do think Disney+ is in serious trouble, even the huge shows just aren’t performing.
Let's also not forget that there's also loads of other streamers who (if Disney chose to pull out of the deal) would still be interested in getting Doctor Who (HBO Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, Peacock)
@TomOBedlam-r6t Yep, I get ya. I found the finale both interestinb tu a bit disappointing too. Am still sticking around because as a blind person I found a lot to enjoy throughout the whole season/series, including the new music which is once again bombastic. I still think, however, the "Always a Twist" song could have had a better lead-in, RTd said they filmed the dialogue but cut it which is a huge surprise and from an in-universe standpoint having some dialogue would have made things wrap up as it would have actually confirmed the whole reason why the song was taking place, which was remnants of Meistro leaving and music returning to the world, but everything was music for a while.
I don't think there has been a single year ever since either late Capaldi or early Whittaker Era that I haven't heard the rumor that Doctor Who is about to be cancelled so I won't believe it any sooner than when it actually happens
The trouble is these youtubers run on speculation and conjecture with zero facts cos waiting for facts doesn't get them views, we've all just been hoodwinked into thinking there's some actual information here so stop coming for the titles, if there's a question mark after the statement it generally means they've got nothing to tell us.
Except Croc just got a remaster announced and Argonaut rose from the grave after 20 years, so chances are actually pretty low for the darkest timeline being this one. Chances are people are just going nuts for the sake of it, and Who is just fine.
@@Farsight-nc1ib I doubt it, while the idea might've been floating around I think they needed to wait for at least the reaction to the 60th specials before greenlighting it. Disney can't even keep a show going for a season if it doesn't make over 10 million views in the first week on the air, they pulled whatever that Willow series was, i doubt they would've had the spin-off greenlit by that point.
Didn't doctor end officially end in 2017 with Peter Capaldi? I don't get wht you people keep referring to Who as if there's been more since. Like...there hasn't been any more Who...right?
I think you’re dancing around the core issue. The season wasn’t very good. It didn’t rise to the level of RTD’s previous work, and a lot of viewers, myself included, dealt with mounting disappointment, from Star Beast on. I found the stories shallow (except for Dot and Bubble) and the characters - even the Doctor - thin and not very relatable. It’s like RTD abandoned his greatest strength. I think a content course correction could help if it’s not too late.
@nikonbear7882 a good example of that was when he 'announced' that because the first Gatwa season was only 8 episodes the time-slot had been extended from the standard 45mins to 50mins.This turned out to be 100% false,as that extra 5mins was taken up either side of the Saturday evening broadcast by BBC in-house advertising, whereas the repeats in the early hours of the morning were in fact 45mins long because at that time of day the BBC advertise less!Out of the 8 episodes 5 of them were the standard 45mins.
@@whitesean560 When did RTD say this? The only thing similar that I can remember is when Chibnall back in 2018 announced that due to series 11 only being 10 episodes, the run time would be increased (which was true)
@@Diogo85 I'm assuming he doesn't think it was very good, in fairness the ratings reflect the fact that quite a lot of the audience on both sides of the pond didn't like it either.
Just my two cents. I'm not sure how well Doctor Who is actually capturing the youth audience, but it is losing it's existing audience in the US in droves. No fans from the 90s era reboot have been watching since the Matt Smith era. I'm not trolling all the DEI and identity politics. Many of us just stopped watching
I've been watching Doctor Who since 2014. I don't think there's been a single year where I haven't heard someone say, "Doctor Who's not as good as it used to be! It's gonna be cancelled any day now!" I just don't understand Doctor Who fans' obsession with cancellation. It's the only fandom where you could have a Christmas special, a full season, and a spin off ahead of you, and still worry if the show will be around past that. I think that so many focus so much on the show's future that they forget about what they have right now. Will Doctor Who be cancelled in 2026 or 2027? I don't know any better than anyone else. It's right now 2024 though. How about we look at what we have right now, and enjoy the ride?
If Disney bail, the Beeb will just take the show to HBO - RTD and Bad Wolf have a good relationship with them, having co-produced His Dark Materials and Industry with them. The Max service in the US is also the streaming home of series 1-13 of NuWho. Disney have better international distribution, with Disney+ being available basically everywhere, but they’d find a way!
If the BBC does continue to make it they need to get rid of everyone involved in making the program now in front and behind the camera because they've made such a mess of it
Just because Disney decides they don’t want to be part of doctor who anymore doesn’t mean it’s going to be cancelled. The BBC owns the show, not Disney.
Dr Who needs cancelled its just rtds soap box for lgbtq+ rights nowadays thought it couldnt get any worse after jodie whittaker but by god i was wrong absolute crap now supposed to be a science fiction show at the end of the day
Ncuti says if you don’t watch, then you’re a xenophobic homophobic hater. That gets really old! The accusations don’t hold water when Ncuti is just a boring terrible actor and the writing goes from weak to abysmal.
Doctor Who will be around in one form or another for a long time. Whether it is co funded by Disney or not. It adapts, we the fans keep it alive. Been a fan since I was 3 in 1969 so I have been through this many times Ncuti is doing great. Thank you for well structured informative content
@@hannariel I Don't think it will be cancelled at most the Disney deal might end. but doctor who will continue. And also you have to realise that there other people who actually like the new season. I like it and the only episode I disliked was the finale episodes
It seems to me you have quite a diverse experience in fandom not just with Doctor Who. I wonder if you plan to do some videos in other IP while we are waiting for season two.
Great question. I think I'm curious what are your other pursuits? Maybe you play Magic or D&D? Maybe you love Marvel comics? Or maybe you have a love for anime? Whatever it might be, I'd love to see you fill some of the time between seasons with sharing some of those enjoyments. @@TheConfusedAdipose
I've been watching Doctor Who since the revival, and have since gone back and watched it right from the beginning in the 1960's. I watched the current reiteration, and truly was not happy with it. I am now in the process of re-watching the revival series once again and am currently on Matt Smith. RTD Doctor Who from Eccleston era onward and RTD Doctor Who from Gatwa are not even close in quality. If we didn't know better, I would not have believed the current era was by RTD. I got a Disney subscription so I could watch Doctor Who, but after watching this past season, I will not be renewing and will not be watching anymore Doctor Who until they do some major changes. I also won't be watching the spin off. I watched the Jodie episode around that idea and it was bad, and to take the worst watched episode from the Jodie era and make a show around it, I don't know what they were thinking. Too bad really, as I really like Russel Tovey. I thought his Alonso character in the Titanic episode, and Captain Jack, made a good couple.
This Dr Who isTerrible is absolutely terrible ,I've been watching dr who for 50 years, the cast, script writing is the worst in the history of this classic show.
This Dr Who is brilliant, one of the best, I've been watching dr who for more than 50 years, the cast, script writing is some of the best in history of this classic show.
Show will be cancelled. They filmed 2 ncuti gatwa seasons back to back. Those are locked and will be realised. Disney won't renew their contract for new seasons. At most a final special will be commissioned. And at the least...the Christmas Special will be retroactively made the finale of the series.
RTD's return was the last chance for Doctor Who and unfortunately rather than concentrate on producing a show that would have a wider enough appeal to improve the ratings he chose to alienate much of the audience even more by going over the top with queer content. I watched it but I know a lot of people who gave up because of this and my brothers wife stopped their young children from watching because she sees it as harmful. I suspect Disney will pull out of the deal to co fund it. The BBC might give it another season after that but the writing is on the wall now, it will be cancelled or go into an extended hiatus within the next few years.
Your loss man, but as someone who's seen what you didn't care to, it didn't go down the pan, it just had a slump, it happens, and the slump certainly wasn't 6th Doctor Trial of a TimeLord bad, and also also, lest we forget the 6 gave way to 7, one of the BEST Classic Doctors to ever exist, so yeah. Don't be so quick to check out.
it,s looks like dr who actor ncuti gatwa is out of a job for now aa the 15th doctor as it,s 1st black timelord and has to regenerate himself for another job while his disney employers decide to greenlight a 3rd season which at this time might be unlikely but his tardis companion millie gibson gave him back the key that he gave her and jump ship to greener pastures$$$$$$$$$!
I wouldn't worry about a gap year even if Disney don't renew season 3 until season 2 has aired. Season 1 took 18 months to produce so season 3 will probably be the same. RTD has said season 2 will air earlier in the year than season 1 did (probably because of the extra production time). This means that production of season 3 can start in spring of 2025 and be ready to air late 2026. No gap year required. A good comparison would be the gap between series 12 and Flux. It's not ideal but at least we would still have yearly Doctor Who.
If the viewing figures are as abysmal as season 1, then most likely. And since it's already been filmed, it's going to be more of the same. I don't fancy its chances.
@@Theoneandonlydramaqueen. Come on, I know you're doing this as a bit of a game, but if you're being serious then you surely have to admit even for Who, the numbers were worryingly low. It's ok to express concern as a fan. I want the show to continue too, but I can't see it being very likely to happen, particularly in the current climate compared with RTD's approach of writing. Surely it's better to address the problem so hopefully they can pick up on it and fix it rather than blindly support the show with throwaway comments while it falls apart.
@@Theoneandonlydramaqueen. Wellll they were not good. Less than Jodie. But and this is the thing, its interesting to see that the overnight live viewings are still the highest method of watching. They were down to the 2 million or so mark at the end...And when they add up the recorded, I player and online views it still only took it up to the 3 - 3.5 or so mark. Which I found astonishing as it meant that the most popular way to view the show was still via standard broadcast tv. The audience that was claimed to have changed to viewing online on Iplayer etc did not show up in huge or larger numbers for online views. And the show did not chart at all on the Nielsen streaming ratings for Disney+ or online either. Which has led to this will they wont they situation with the Disney deal. Disney may not renew that deal and the BBC will then have to go back to making the show in house. I would be happy for that to happen and for it to go back to a low budget as well, like the old days when it used to run from September to the following March / April on a shoestring....

Its ultimately meant to be afamily show its simple , families watch tv together , individuals watch youtube. Family fathers and mothers who hold the remote do not want the notion of popularising gender reassignment or constant lgbt+ double entendre shown to their 8 year olds . The parents 40 + sigh and turn off , oh and we dont like being preached at or the dog rubbish episodes written the past few yrs.
I don't think Disney have made up their minds yet. If this past season had been a roaring success, they would be already announcing a new deal. Chances are they are just waiting to see if things pick up with Season 2.
Hope it doesn't get cancelled . Its just got back on track again with a better Doctor than the previous. Just get a good story going, and it will pay for itself
The show ended when Capaldi said, "Doctor, I let you go." Everything after that takes place in some weird alternative universe. The only satisfactory explanation I'll accept for the utter tosh of Series 14 is that the Toymaker was behind everything, and he's preparing for the next game with the Doctor. He turned the Doctor into a woman, he regenerated Missy into the Spy Master, he turned the Doctor into the Timeless Child, he planted Sutekh around the TARDIS - and all for his own amusement. He created the mystery around Ruby's mother and enabled Ruby to make it snow; he created the Maestro as his 'child'; he was behind the events of 73 Yards.
I have read Lungbarrow, and it's better than what Chibnall did, who claimed to have never read the novel. The Timeless Child could've worked - if Chibnall had done anything with it. As it is, it's a poorer version of what Robert Venditti did with Hawkman in DC Comics. The Cartmel Masterplan did not suggest that the Doctor himself wasn't Gallifreyan or that Hartnell wasn't the first Doctor.
@@brewster_4 Yes, but the Other is a separate person from the Doctor, who was reincarnated as the Doctor - not literally the same person, which is the case with the Timeless Child.
Started to feel its about time to give the show a rest upon seeing the ending of the 60th anniversary. I tried to give the new season a chance, but I couldn't get past the Goblin Musical scene. I find it hard to believe most of the writing is coming from RTD. I feel like im 1 of very very few who feels the same way.
RTD writing has always been very hit and miss but when the series was brought back he had plenty of mythos to exploit which boosted his writing somewhat into more hits. This has now ran completely dry. Adding a incongruous musical into a mediocre treading water show is the new crazy fad. Worked years ago with Buffy - not so much Dr Who or Star Trek !
The stand alone episodes of Doctor Who don’t really work anymore IMO because of the quite shocking gap in quality between each episodes as a result of RTD’s messy writing and a lack of a good closure at the end of the season. In order for Doctor Who to have a better overall story and higher rating for each episode, a serialised version of Doctor Who might work. RTD could shine once again if he made a limited amount of episodes, all based within the same storyline as more time and effort could be spent perfecting them. Just look at Children of Earth, an excellent example of how a reduced amount of episodes and a serialised approach could be the answer to one of the least popular, and one of the most lacking seasons of Doctor Who in its modern return.
This is the first time ever that I have heard a fandom worry about whether we are getting another season before the next season comes out. Everyone slow down, calm down.
I'm looking forward to seeing Joy to the world on Christmas day, season 2 next year, and the war between the land and sea spin off,and I'm confident we will get a season 3 and beyond, the whoniverse is only just getting started
Doctor Who was never 'cancelled' as such back in the 80s. It just ran a series in 1989 and then just wasn't renewed until 2005. ie. it was just a case of "We're not going to commission a series _this_ summer…" … and again, and again… until everyone eventually forgot about it. Like that series on Netflix you watched a few episodes of and then had a break that just went on so long you can't remember what the series was about or what had happened, and so just started a different series instead.
I was bummed when the show was 'dead' *about to be cancelled* back in 2016. And then in 2017. And 2018. And all through the Covid19 years. 2021, 2022...
Well BBC would never cancel the show again and dinsey only got involved with doctor who to try and introduce it more to American audiences if they dont want it then just let BBC continue making a show they've been doing for 60 years
@@Drew-n4z not being funny but chances are if they just bring back another actor who's already played doctor who then chances are the viewership would go up, the BBC were doing fine before Disney came in and will find a way when they leave
Doctor who won’t ever be cancelled because this is the partnership deal between the BBC and Disney and if Disney drops the deal then RTD and the BBC will use the season 3 scripts they’ve written in case the Disney deal falls through.
Its normal for a tv series on streaming for the network to take forever to decide on renewing it or not. Problem with Tv Series on streaming is the above and it's two years between seasons.
As a classic and old Who fan, I've begun to tune out. I didn't like the new season. The fact that it hasn't been renewed for season 3 yet under the Disney banner is a terrible sign for the cast and creative team. I know who I would blame for the stark direction shift but I'll hold fire if and when it gets cancelled.
Not a hater, but also not a fan of the leaning into magic rather then tech. Just smacks of laziness to not even try to pretend there's just technology beyond our ken behind most of this stuff. That... and the constant threads that don't go anywhere/have any explanation/make any consistent sense
Maybe they’ll hold back a part of season 2 and then get the viewing figures on that portion, then can decide on season 3 or a special, then release the next portion of season 2 while that either is or isn’t being made. Then they could keep to the yearly content
doctor who’s budget is less than a third of acolyte’s but has comparable viewership on Disney + and the costs are shared with the BBC so they will probably renew
I actually hope Disney will let the show go. In the U.S., where I am, series 1-13 are streaming on Max. Maybe Max, Amazon Prime, or even Netflix could take it over from Disney. I doubt it will be cancelled, though.
I mean, ok, tbf, Season 2 hast even aired yet, sure it looks bad because it isn't the norm, but maybe it doesn't mean it's canceled, maybe this is just how Russel is running things now, this is the new normal?
I've been a fan of Doctor Who for almost 50 years, I was 18 back in 1989 when the show was first cancelled and I waited patiently for it's eventual return. Sadly I no longer enjoy what the show has evolved into and I now yearn for it to be cancelled again! Give it a break of at least 5-10 years and hopefully it will return a better show but I no longer care anymore, it's embarrassing to be a fan of this once great series. Some may disagree but I know plenty of people feel this way, anyway all the best and keep making great content!
I totally agree. I loved the show growing up. I was born during the Pertwee era and remember mose Tom Baker stories from original transmission. It was no surprise to me that it was cancelled in 1989 as the McCoy era was no the best and the storylines became to condensed and hard to follow. I was overjoyed when they brought it back in 2005 and loved the first 3 NEW doctors, especially David Tennant. But history is repeting itself (as it does). The last Xmas special of Matt Smith we saw the Timelords give him a new set of regenerations. But a few years later when 'Chris Chibnall' took over it was destroyed by poor writing and terrible continuity. Odviously he is not a Whovian. As we know it turned out he/she was not a timelord after all and a timeless child that gave the Timelords regeneration. So what on earth were the Timelords giving him a new set of regenerations for? Also every Dr Who fan knows that it was in 1963 in Totters Yard that the Chameleon Circuit broke so it was stuck as a police box AND it was his grand-daughter Susan that named it TARDIS (Maybe Chris Chibnall should have watched the first episode as he clearly did not) So, even if we could believe that the Doctor had lives before the first, how can you explain the coloured female doctor having a time machine called TARDIS and it being stuck on a police box when clearly this has not happened to him yet. Yes we are talking about time travel and yes he could visit his former selves and vice versa but it would not be comprehensible to accept that a previous incarnation has something that a future incarnation ran away with. And just as I thought when R T Davis came back he might save the show and correct this he goes and makes it ten times worse by introducing Bi-Regenerations which goes off the scale. On that I thrown the remote at the TV and said a couple of words to Docotor Who and the second word was 'OFF'. I now refuse to watch any episode past the 50th Anniversary in 2013 and I long for it to be cancelled again for good. Soon the Doctor will wear round glasses and report to Hogwarts. It is not Science Fiction anymore it is childrens fantasy with no science in it at all fiction or not. Bye Bye, The 50 years were great.. Time to retire Doctor Who for good.
My Doctor was Jon Pertwee and despite the budget being bargain-basement the stories were fabulous because they had structure, proper character development & substance, and time & effort went into reasonably good scripts!Modern Who lost the plot from Matt Smith onwards & just got progressively worse until we arrived at the truly dreadful song-and-dance routines of the new RTD era!Gatwas first batch of stories were the worst in the shows history (Space Babies for heavens sake, the ridiculously hyped Boom and of course the big silly dog-thing in the finale when the fans had been led to believe it would be the return of Sutekh...what a cop out)!
Everyone who is panicking needs to remember that The War Between the Land and the Sea is coming. Also I bet Disney+ is either waiting for either the spin-off or Season 2 is out before they announce a new season
You lost me at “the bbc is a great service”. The only private company that ensures you can end up with a criminal sanction, even if you don’t use any of their products… Don’t see how any of that is justified by it being a “great service”…
Before watching the video, if we continue to receive garbage Doctor Who in the future, I don't mind it getting cancelled even if it's my favorite tv show of all time. The thing they did to the show is pure embarrassment
It wouldn't surprise me if Dr Who was cancelled after season 2. Ratings are at there lowest in the shows history. (Ik ppl are gonna say ratings don't matter but they do), The writing has be abysmal since 2017 and it's done too much pandering. If Dr Who wants to survive, the Disney deal needs to be stopped bc everything Disney touches, dies, we need a new writer that doesn't sacrifice good writing and good stories for political pandering and we need effort put into the series as it's very obvious that no effort whatsoever has been put in since Capaldi left. WE NEED DISNEY TO PULL OUT for Dr Who to survive.
When I saw this I wasn't super surprised! I see this as a means to give the production a couple month breathing room, and like you say even if Disney drops it RTD said him and Bad Wolf have plans if that ever happens! Also Qrow With A Pouch here! Was a pleasure to meet ya!!! ✨💙
Will people call the daleks woke if they return in s3 or 4 due to what's happening in Palestine? At least the daleks can never return because of how the show is "woke". If the Nestene consciousness returns, it would be called "woke" along with the Cybermen being called that too.
Disney Plus is a distributor, the BBC are the manufacturer. Disney Plus is like a store that wanted to have Doctor Who on its shelves. Except I am not sure who they are making this show for now, because I don't think it's for me lol. Maybe like one or two people out there were like "wow that person represents the way i look and my life choices and i feel seen" but like 95% of the rest of us are no longer catered to. Same thing with the Acolyte. They're trying to appeal to people who don't watch this stuff in the first place. Terrible strategy lmao. I could never truly give up on Doctor Who though. Figure out "who" you're meant to be and come back and I'll throw some money at you. Until then I will tune in for one episode every season until they stop giving us funky ideas for who the Doctor should be.
I think it's a really odd one. The problem I think with season 1 (which I did enjoy personally) was that I think they tried too hard to make it like original Doctor Who but with a 2024 approach and in doing so there were things that felt forced and not like as if they were by coincidence (I think back to the episode when they tackled the Doctor's race and to me I didn't like that. Not because of any issue of racism but because it felt forced similar to when Jodie Whittaker was the Doctor and they constantly felt the need to bring up the fact she was a woman). I also just think the big thing was yes we did have the whole Susan Triad story but really I felt you just needed to watch those two final episodes and whilst I might sound like a cynic the problem was there wasn't really any sense of a need to watch the other episodes because they didn't lean in hard enough. And yes of course we might have had SUTEKH but the problem was, for starters, SUTEKH was just underwhelming and very predictable (I feel since Infinity War we have too many people trying to wipe out the world) but also it just felt so forced that he was a god that you were thinking how he linked to the Pantheon when we don't know anything. Why not instead do a character like the Toymaker again or better still do the idea of The Trickster which would really challenge the Doctor. ' It's a shame because honestly I really did like some of the ideas but I think fresh blood is needed and the tone of it needs to change from whimsical.
@@brewster_4 So the reason I say it is because it was just the way they approached in my opinion was a bit too heavy handed. Whilst I get its really important (and it is - I am 100% behind people calling it out and saying that its not right) I just thought it was a bit too on the nose and what I wasn't a fan of was them feeling the need to do it this way when the truth is the Doctor can be anything and doesn't need a heavy handed approach to things because of the colour of his skin being different.
I don't see Disney renewing but I think BBC will find another production partner. I also don't think RTD AND Gatwa return ( too expensive) and we'll get a new Dr and direction for s3 ( which they will rename S16)
RTD said that Disney was happy with the show. Acolyte and Willow were completely different situations. Andorra for example didn't do what Disney hoped it would but it got another season. No matter what, RTD has, as I said, said that Disney was happy. They could've backed out of thee spinoff, but they're behind it. Breathe everyone. It will be okay
If season one performed well, then season three would of been announced after the finale. If season 2 flops as hard as one did then disney will pull it's funding. And it'll be down to the BBC to decide if they want to continue it. Which I doubt. The proms and merch can still continue without the show. Star wars went decades without a new show or film on the merch alone.
not necessarily. Most BBC shows only get greenlit a new season after the season they've just made is either in the process of airing or having just aired. The fact we got seasons 1 and 2 greenlit together is unusual for the BBC. Things like the proms and merch sales would go way down if the show was cancelled. Merchandise would still get made, but we'd probably have a lot less of it.
I think as usual there is a lot going on they wont tell us. I am pretty sure Gatwa will be gone after this second season. Which is fine by me. Who they get next or where they take it after that is anyones guess. But I also think they are waiting to see how will it goes over in season 2, if the ratings fall still further, if it charts at all on Nielsen etc and then make a decision. Disney will look after itself first. Low budget or not its still money. If it picks up and does better in season 2 they can renew the deal if they want to, if not it will be up to the BBC to decide whats next. I think it will get lower ratings myself...less than 2 million on the overnights. The catchup, consolidated and iplayer never managed to equal the overnights or even surpass them as people were hoping. After a month or so its just about scraping the 4 million mark from online, recorded, live etc...after a month! So its up to the fans, if people are thinking this is the best its ever been etc, to turn out to watch it.
People talk about attracting the younger age group. It needs to be remembered at this has always been the case. In my case younger dated from Patrick Troughton. If the product is good everyone will love and want to see it. If you aim at a certain audience folk will turn off. Also if you are looking for subject matter, look how an old Dr Who was constructed and how it is now, yes the new ones are flashy as as result of CGI etc, but the suspense was more frightening than the actual monsters sometimes in the early ones.
I think they have to understand that there is a solid base of us who will watch, unlike developing a new show. That costs a lot and there's no guarantee of viewership. Other than the White Supremacist homophobes in the comments, the real fans are here for it.
I didn’t like the 60th, despite the amazing performance by NPH. The handwaving healing of Donna gutted her first ending. I think Jodie’s final scene was amazing and the show should have been rested a few years at that point. If we find out everything from that is dream or alt universe, I could live with it…. The doctor’s consciousness trapped in a fake world…hence weird stuff like bi-regen…okay. Let’s go back to Jodie on a hill and start over with the dreamworld over. That doesn’t undo Ncuti, he is still part of the doctor’s mind that manifested in the dream state. But the condition the show is in now….no. Let it go.
Nope its not going to be cancelled and do you know why? Because the BBC NEED this show. its been a huge unexpected money maker for them and they don't have the clout to cancel It. The BBC have nothing that's of the same status as Doctor Who in pop culture. And the fact that America is also interested in its success helps make it look good.
The thing to remember is...
It is NOT a Disney show - it is a BBC show.
It was being made and broadcast/streamed LONG before Disney got involved.
100% Disney could revert to sole international distribution & the BBC fund it but for me it won't be a full season probably specials for Xmas, New Year & Easter. DW still makes a lot of money globally for BBC Studios as the latest earnings report proved
True but now Alot of their funding is from Disney due to the merger/partnership
@@Riptych No doubt & it proves that until the BBC know exactly how much money (understandable) they will have for production on S3 they cannot proceed.

Exactly. Disney does not own Doctor Who, the BBC does and has for a long time.
Even if Disney doesn't want it anymore I doubt the BBC would cancel it themselves honestly
Exactly, if Disney weren't to renew the deal then the BBC would just go back to making it on a lesser budget and that would be fine, the biggest issue would mainly be international distribution since it would once again limit the international reach but the show would still be made regardless.
Why not ? it got cancelled with a bigger audience before lol
If Disney pull out then it would give the BBC a reason to cancel just like back in 1996 when American monies was pulled
They cant afford to pay for it themselves any more, as so many people are cancelling their TV licences - hence the current co-production deal.
@@Paul_1971 they absolutely can so that is untrue.

I’m surprised that anyone believes anything that RTD says. He runs off at the mouth and talks gibberish.

I just don't understand Doctor Who fans' obsession with cancellation. It's the only fandom where you could have a Christmas special, a full season, and a spin off ahead of you, and still worry if the show will be around past that.

War between the land and Sea being the last thing to air seems very unlikely lol.

I mean, except The Timeless Child is actually a very good thing, ever read Lungbarrow?
I have read Lungbarrow, and it's better than what Chibnall did, who claimed to have never read the novel. The Timeless Child could've worked - if Chibnall had done anything with it. As it is, it's a poorer version of what Robert Venditti did with Hawkman in DC Comics.

@@paularc1899 No they didn't
Got nothing against Ncuti but his episodes were boring and the finale part 2 was terrible
STOP THE WOKE BULL SHIT AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT SERIES. 👍🎬📰🇬🇧🇺🇲🙏✝️🌹

It's a shame because honestly I really did like some of the ideas but I think fresh blood is needed and the tone of it needs to change from whimsical.
What felt forced about them showing racism in Dot and Bubble?
True
Dude labour is back so the bbc is saved
He is already busy with season 16
Steven moffat
Even if it hasn’t been at its best lately, I’ll be devastated if it’s cancelled. Doctor Who has been my whole life
Same. I've loved it since I was 4/5
Doctor Who died with Peter Capaldi. It's about time to bin it
Womp womp it's doing better than it has for years
