Our church recovery team will be heading from Oklahoma to Swannanoa on Friday to help out, feed and assist the ones who need it. God bless this small community!
My sister lives in swannanoa for twenty two years her house was totally destroyed. My nephew and sister had to swim out of the house. Is definitely worse than video.
I am hoping being from this area that some of those businesses do not rebuild on the water and come up to the other side where old downtown swannanoa used to exist. We need to revive the town of swannanoa with businesses etc so i am hoping that will be the plan.
Theres a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Withnesses near there. The hall was submereged under water. The members went and tore put the walls and carpet. Disinfected it and set up their base there. Trucks sent by their organization got through. Friends went to puck up the supplies. So well organized. These friends amazing. They are not pointimg fingers at anyone. They. Are also helping other neighbors who are not of their faith! They're God is helping them. Hear today a big rig full of gasoline dropped their area on a road not to narrow, and the guy in the truck put gasoline in everybody's vehicles and gas to take home, for their generators n other neighbors. They hafe enough fuel till the State gets power up. Some lost their homes but they took cover. All were accounted for except 3 gentlemen did not make it. One died when a tree crashed into his house. The other two the news not say where they were found. Glad so many others did what they could n did when this monster hit their mountains and the valleys below.
@@pumpupjam9648 Amazing work done by so many people there. In fact, the entire community is amazing. Every corner has people giving away food, supplies, water, anything a person might need. And as you come in on Highway 9 there are people standing on each corner, smiling and waving while holding posters saying, “LOVE”. All of it heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. Praying for all of the people affected by this tragic event.
As of the date and time of this posting over 70 counties devastated thousands missing hundreds dead I'm here now and the government response has been non-existent the smell of death is in the air people here will either survive or die we're going on day 9 it's been too little too late folks if you're reading this or know of anybody don't wait for your government they're not coming
Interesting. I've been in our mountains since Sunday. FEMA, the National Guard, numerous volunteers in addition to first responders from here and all over the country are actively working to help everyone impacted by this disaster.

Many, many roads were impossible to navigate through due to damage, debris, or simply being gone. Without this exact kind of help, many people in our mountains impacted by Helene wouldn't have gotten help. So thankful for everyone and every organization helping. Prayers for everyone impacted by this disaster and for everyone helping.

Where was the old downtown Swannanoa located?
Looks like the people in town didn't have much before the flood. Poor folks.
We're definitely not Palm Beach or Lake Tahoe
And is being "poor" the lack of ownership of material possessions ?
There are 2 paths to riches ...
Aquire more
Or
Desire less

That doesn't look like a place that would flood.
Last time it came close to this one was in 1916
And 2 hurricanes hit back to back
Why are these idiots riding 4 wheelers in the highway and especially without helmets? That state has a helmet law
