    Thank you Tia! I love your content. One of the problems I have is lack of community - just as you discussed - but I do find that watching videos like this one makes me feel like I'm part of a big, happy, healthy community of people who eat this way and it it warms my heart and ... and gives me lots of inspiration for new recipes to try.

    I was vegetarian for 3 years and saw a change in my weight loss. I finally decided to kick things up a notch and went vegan in Feb this year. Up to today I’ve lost 26lbs by changing things to a healthy whole food plant based diet. I do count calories and do strength training, but boy I have never felt this great in my life. I feel I didn’t have to change much in my cuisine since I mainly cook Mexican food. I still eat natural corn tortilla and it helps keep me full for longer! Roast up any veggies and make tacos! They will not disappoint!

    I think there comes a point in your mindset where you have to STOP saying: I CAN’T and focus on the up side of your healthy choices by using your self talk to say things like: I GET TO have my baked potato with veggies and fresh fruit! And you have to STOP playing the poor me card. Either do it or don’t! The best thing to do is educate yourself and take it seriously. I’ve failed many times but this is my new mindset!

    Thanks for the virtual reminder NOT to be perfect. Perfectionism is a HUGE struggle for me in everything I do really... though I am working on it! I can really hear myself in all the things you were saying to yourself in the past. I have always been a big eater... though, I am losing lots of weight at this point, still being new to the lifestyle (2 weeks). When I start to slow down on that, I plan to revamp my plate to include even more non-starchy vegetables with lots of greens! I do get those things now, but I really like those carbs! I had been restricting myself from them for such a long long time that I am really enjoying that I can eat them again! Thank you again for all you do! You are a blessing! :-)

    Hi Tia! Been following you for a while and you keep saying "I easily lost 50 pounds". I sure wish that was the case for me. I have been vegan for a long time and i think losing weight is not easy. It took me 3 months to lose 5 lbs. I don't think I'm alone in this. Losing weight is not easy. 🥺

      Me too…I only lost 3 lbs this past month. I’m compliant too.

      I’m sorry you’re struggling. Everyone is different, it’s important to understand that. And what is easy for one person may not be so easy for another. The key is finding what works for you so it can be easy. If you are struggling to lose, I would take a look at what I was eating. The only way to lose weight is to be on a calorie deficit so you may not be in one or it may be such a small one that the weight loss is slow. It also depends on how much weight you have to lose. I was almost 200 lbs so it came off pretty steady for me until I had close to 20 lbs left. Then I had to tweak some things and was able to move forward. Best of luck to you.

      3 lbs is awesome. Do you know what three lbs of fat looks like? I know it may not be as much as you want, but that’s great to see the scale going down and not up! I’ll take slow weight loss any day over fast!

      I’m no expert, but I have learned a lot. I follow Julianna Hever (the plant based dietitian) and she says it’s always the food. If you’re not losing, you’re eating too much. I’d say log your food and take a close look at what you’re eating. Nuts are compliant but if you eat too many, you’re gonna have a hard time losing. Same with avocados. Or maybe you’re just eating too much fruit or too many grains. As Tia said, maybe join a group - maybe specifically a WFPB weight loss group where you can share your food log with others to see if they can help tweak your eating. Good luck!

    Hi Tai, I have only just found you.....really enjoying going through your journey of weight lost. I am Plant based but have found it hard to lose weight easily in the past ....due to now understanding ......what your teaching me about fat content.....you're you-tube videos are really making me better understand what I have been doing wrong ......you're helping me to make my life stay on track with you recipes. I hope you're going to make all your books in paperback. I have downloaded e-books before off other successful vegan you-tubers..... like High Carb Hannah ....but I never use them. As soon as Hannah put her books in paperback I purchased them and started using them. I love to be able to grab a book and flick through it and turn to the page to cook from. I love books..... and love seeing pictures of each recipe in the book. I truly hope your books make it to paperback as I will surly purchase them. I am 52 and back in my day at school there were no computers. My kids reach straight way for electronics for everything....I reach for books with paper pages and so do others my age, going by my friends. I know paper back books are more expensive to produce but I also know there is a market out there willing to pay for this in my age group and over. Wishing you good luck and success with your books either way. Love your work and what you bring to us all each week...Thank you Terri from Australia

    You're the first vegan that I can relate to! Most are crazy rainbow children wearing nothing but hemp clothing. Most are quite odd people! You're the first down-to-earth vegan I've come across that I can relate to and now I'm interested in eating this way. I don't want to eat 30 bananas in a day (example of the craziness you get from other vegans on RUclips!)

    Great video! I'm 55. I decided to go vegetarian when I was 10 and went vegan about 10 years ago. Don't regret it at all. I have a vegan restaurant across the street from where I work. But I definitely cook more since I went vegan.

    Thank you Tia! You are great and so helpful to new vegans, and old vegans! I have been vegan for 13 years. I did it for the animals and the environment and now I see all the health benefits for myself. My weight hasn’t been an issue but I feel better , healthier and stronger. For me, it is easy because I can’t stand the torture the animals endure, I am interested in preventing suffering of any living being. Those who think the animals live nice lives until they are painlessly slaughtered are in denial. They endure sadness, terror and pain for our endless need to stuff our faces with cheap unhealthy food. Watch Earthlings, What the Health and Game Changers; they will help anyone struggling with a plant bases diet. Thank you again.

    I've been wfpb for a while to lose weight (I have 100+pounds to lose). My calorie intake on a wfpb diet is about 1400 a day and I weigh every single drink or morsel I consume. My problem is that the weight loss is soooo slow so I get discouraged if I'm not losing 2 pounds a week. When I was doing Vegetarian Keto I lost weight more quickly but the radical restriction on fruit and vegetables to be 25g of carbs per day was really unsustainable. So I turned to wfpb but I'm feeling irritated that the weight loss is so slow for me. The food and variety is fantastic though and I feel so much happier without eggs & dairy.

    • @HealthyVeganMama
      @HealthyVeganMama  2 года назад +3

      I understand. The reason it’s slower is probably because you are losing actual fats. With Keto and carb restricting diets it seems like fast weight loss because a lot of the “weight” is water which comes off fast when you are depleting glycogen stores. Slow weight loss in my book is great because its sustainable and real fat loss - you are learning and creating lasting habits for a lifetime Just remember, this isn’t a race, it’s the rest of your life.
