Yes 1978, they were in their mid-30s and many say this was their best tour now I didn't see them until 81 for the start me up for and it was okay, it might have been better but we had seats in a stadium that were in the back, I think that show alone changed Mick because for the silverdome the crowd was sort of subdued, being the rock and roll soldier Mick Jagger is he can dance with himself he don't care, and he's not one to dislike the spotlight.

When I was 9 or ten, back in the early sixties, a friend of mine showed me his mom's Rolling Stones album. They looked like they didn't give a shit. I liked that. Now, at 63, and many Stones concerts, worn out LPs, 45s, 8Tracks, cassettes, CDs, and whatever next may come, they still captivate me. They truly are The World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band. @TylerDonald-b2x 17 дней назад

@@andym2723 but the stones are like the police. They just chose to stay together. The difference is sing was able to be a star on his own. Mick jagger tried and failed to be a successful solo artist. He went back to the big band with his tail between his legs. If you know the struggle of the stones it makes a lot more sense. They didn’t get rich until around the some girls era. They were well off initially cause of the hits hit bad deals, evil managers, and taxes left them broke and almost bankrupt . They almost immediately broke up when they could make it on their own. If micks solo records were doing sting numbers he would be a solo artist and break up the stones. With out a doubt.

Here here... It knocks me out the way Wyman's bass line shades Watt's kick drum beats, coming in a hair off the mark and then snapping perfectly back into line by the end of the measure, like a raunchy rubber band. The Stones swing so hard for a rock band, and that's largely the legacy of Wyman and Watts (though Daryl Jones and Steve Jordan are excellent choices for successors).

@Julia VonW I think your right about Bills Basslines the best live album that the stones ever did was love you live amazing live album to me that was the real stones the tours from 81-1989 were good but the 70’s were the last real true stones tours after the stones did the voodoo lounge tour when Bill left the stones were not even the stones no not the real stones or the true stones no bassplayer can replace Bill u can ask Geddy Lee or ask anyone who plays the bass no Wyman no Stones and now Charlie was he’s no longer with us the band is over and done now the whole band should of called it a day after steel wheels retire

This is when the Stones were the most powerful, from the 60's all through the 80's, even till the beginning 90's. They were a force to be reckoned with. Mick is at the top of his game here. Appreciate it now on youtube because we will never see it again. RIP Charlie.

Keith with that strong backup vocal. Essential. Of course, it's like, every little nuance from everyone is essential to the Stone's sound. A well baked cake.

I was actually at this concert. There next stop was Houston. I was there also. This was my favorite era of the Stones. They played on a smaller stage and aside from Wyman who always stood off by himself, were all together. I still am crazy about them and never miss the chance to see them. But, to some extent the production has become as important as the music. Anyone that loves the Stones and missed them in this era missed a lot.

john9944 The big difference is from the tour in 81 to the steel wheels tour in 89! It's not just a band anymore, its a orchestra. If you watch some clips from Mick Jagger's solo tour in 87 or so, I believe it answers how that came in place almost by itself.
