“There’s a my little Boomer on the front.” These are the lines that have kept me an RCR fan for so long
I watched his 2003 toyota tacoma review and its something else. I highly recommend it.
Damn that's great. This is one of those lines I'm gonna remember for a looooong time
That was definitely one of the best lines he's ever made
Holy hell I couldn't stop laughing 😂
Agreed
This is the third time you've mentioned probe. You're contractually obligated to review one now.
Preferably a first gen.
My first car was a v6 lx probe
1990 Probe GT with a 5 speed. I loved mine. Sold it to a friend and bought a Taurus SHO. He was still driving the Probe with no issues by the time I dumped the SHO for being nothing but problems.
Colin Eliot after crashing my 90 probe (16 year old idiot) I just narrowly missed a 95 gt five speed with 20k miles on it, 25 years later I still can’t get over it
2nd gen would be cooler though, cause the design feels more unique.
I had a 94 GT 5spd. Very good driving car. I had people asking what it was all the time.
RegularCars: "Hey, Ford could you stop spitting on our intelligence"
Ford: Mustang is electric SUV.
And it doesn't even look like a Mustang… Meanwhile over in the UK we have the Kuga with Kanye West's bastardised version of 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson! What on earth is a Kuga anyway, at least with the 1960's Mercury Cougar it was a thinking man Mustang, a cool looking car. I am getting old…
Must dash I going to play the original 21st Century Schizoid Man in my car on full blast to see if some youngster comes up to me and says "What's that s@*% yer playin? Kanye's original version is so much better. Why are you running over my foot?
@ALSO-RAN ! I guess it kinda looks cool tho and they claimed it to be faster than most mustangs, but that is a weird concept by Ford! It doesn't make sense at all but I would be just fine if it is the Ford Focus who got that changes to being a electric crossover type of vehicle.
Tbh I would have been totally onboard for a balls to the wall, performance EV mustang in 2020. Technology is there, just expensive. Make it the electric sports car no one else has done right.
But no, they made a crossover.
He was talking about tricking fragile egos. Mustang Electric SUV isn't tricking small dick guys. If it has fake V8 noises, then it is spitting on your intelligence.
@stirange The marketing campaign betrays what the manufacturer thinks of our intelligence, which justifiably affects our faith in their product.
"Dual-Exhaust doesn't make sense" It does when they can use one bumper mold for each trim lol
While that is true plenty of car companies are using single or dual cutout bumpers regardless of exhaust, they just tend to make those cutouts a little more subtle.
Great point actually, why spend an additional $200k on tooling a piece for customers who buy the base model?
@@off_mah_lawn2074 You spend the money on tooling for a single exit rear bumper because then there is $20 less exhaust pipe on each 4 cylinder car. But no, the stylists and marketing people got their way this time on the Ecoboost Mustang.
Can’t remember which car I saw it on, but it had twin exhaust pipes, but one wasn’t connected to anything!
@@stephen3164 Maybe the newer Camry's? I swear I see those with dual two-pipe exhausts but one of the two pipes looks like it doesn't even go into the muffler

Doesn't that, in a lot of ways, embody the ecoboost mustang? Red chunky american muscle with a 4cyl and a turbo? that's a werid combo in and of itself. Just you wait, this unique individual's gonna upgrade to one of those electric suv mustangs as soon as they're available, lol.

I love the ecoboost, best handling of the bunch and still hits 60 in 5 seconds, really doesn't look too shabby either.
A ‘My Little Boomer’ on the front 😂
Is this a Mustang or a set of Bose headphones? ANC in a car maybe not such a bad idea but exhaust sounds on a little boomer? lulz

Man that dual exhaust comment on the wrx hit me out of nowhere. It really is true, and to be honest, I thought my 2006 sti sounded better than my 2008.
I liked 04 sti the most. The newer they get, the worse they get. Go test drive a 2020 subi, they're cutting corners and shaving options

yeah that's why i always plan to get a single tip if i ever swap the exhaust on mine. at least they split it at the end, not at the cat.
The sound change has more to do with changing to equal length headers. But yeah older ones sound better.
"This car has resale value. Now and forever."
I had a 4 cylinder Mustang from the early 90s. I eventually sold it (running) for $5.
Yea, I always thought resale value was based on the strength of reliability and availability. Mustang NEVER represented that imho. Their mid to late 80s GT was the automotive equivalent to the death of Superman comic.
The car you’re talking about prob has 65hp max. This has 300.

Johnalogue I’d love to see the Probe make a comeback!
But it's true!
We didn't know what we had with that thing. If the 86 could come back, why not the Probe? I'm not holding my breath in the short term, with all of the Americans moving away from sedans and hatchbacks, but if the crossover trend passes, who knows? Actually, I could see it coming back BECAUSE they don't have sedans or hatches of their own anymore. Let's say that people start buying regular cars (no relation) again, and Ford decides to get back in the game. They'll either have to engineer a platform from scratch, adapt a crossover platform, or partner with somebody and use their platform until they could come up one of their own. Maybe they'd patch things up with Mazda to make a Taurus based on the Mazda6, and make a new Probe based on the platform as well.

"For the guy who pays for all his shirts and underwear in the electronic section", that's just awfully relatable
For countries where the tax is based on the car's displacement, this I4 Mustang makes sense if you want an American car but you want less tax.
I've personally seen an Corvette Z06 in Malaysia and was shocked when I see the roadtax for that car, its MYR 12000 (USD 2,809.43). That's one of the reason why you don't see a lot of high displacement cars on the road unless you're someone who can buy a Rolls Royce or two Ferarris.
Or Sultan of Johor/Selangor. They are possibly the only people that get away with PDRM speeding tickets.
would a z06 even be worthwhile on malaysian roads? id imagine with the high humidity (and prices) a lightweight convertible would be way more enjoyable.
its like the incredibly rare occasion here in the uk when you see someone has imported a challenger, sure it looks cool but its completely useless on our roads.
@@ReplicantBattyman Basically this, one of the reason american sports car is as rare as winter atop mountain peak in the east/south east asia is arguably has to do with their roads and taxes.
tbh just stick with the 5.0, a mustang without a coyote isn't a mustang. Only buy a mustang if you're filthy rich at least in Malaysia. Road tax, fuel prices, maintenance, speeding tickets, and our retarded import tax makes buying a mustang not worth it.
@@ReplicantBattyman I think it's only for bragging rights since you have one of few examples in Malaysia.
Most town roads are bad but once you're on the highway, you're good but you need to make sure your car can handle the Malaysian heat. There are a few cases where Ferraris and Lamborghinis caught fire here.
P.s. I spotted an old El Camino when I was in college. So yeah, it's for bragging rights.

These are criminally underrated cars. I’ve had a few as rentals, and they are phenomenal to drive. But when I started shopping for a new ride for at home, I couldn’t fathom buying one. The ecoboost mustang is like a 120 pound Rottweiler, you love going to your friends house and playing with it, but you’re glad you’re not the one that has to pick up it’s horse sized dumps when you go for a walk.
As a former FC RX-7 owner, that dual exhaust comment hit me hard.
When I worked for FoMoCo back in 2013-2016, I really enjoyed the 2.3 Ecoboost. I especially preferred the Ecoboost Performance pack with Recaro seats as an option! Worth to find.

Back in '97, I drove a car with engine sounds pumped in through the speakers...just not intentionally. It was a 1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham sedan. It had a V8, and I think it had something to do with poor insulation somewhere in the electrical system, since you could hear this popping that increased with revs. I thought it was kinda neat at the time.

Not to mention the tax and insurance costs for a engine that size.
Not worth it in Europe. I don’t know how people afford the drive the high displacement German luxury cars either.
@@556m4 its not really expensive in germany, except the fuel.
@@556m4 They're a bit expensive, but even the high displacement engines are usually overengineered with cylinder shutdown, fancy injection, VVT and VVC, a million gears etc. so that they're not all too thirsty, especially cruising on the Autobahn.
The maintenance is the real killer here. Complexity has it's price.
Why go for lighter engine, that makes really good power, good mpg, cheaper to insure, and looks the exact same?
Cuz it will never sound like a 5.0. That is one big reason. But I’m all about turbo’s as well.
Because the 5 liter has more torque. I want to feel like I got yanked by the car when I step on the gas
I think the review he did a few years back of a gt actually is pretty applicable. It's the illogical, but emotional choice. Same reason dodge keeps selling objectively worse challengers.

That's v true in terms of looks - I had a Capri in the 80s, it looked like a sports car but it was as slow as a hearse, try to go round corners quickly and you'd need one (a hearse). The Mustang 2.3T is a quick and nimble sports car, all sensible people who have driven one realise how great it is. Not as quick as the Focus RS, but a million times better looking, and as much power as you will ever need in the real world. Very clever and witty review tho....I like!
I am impressed by the numbers that engine puts out for a 4 cyl. I poke fun at my friend's 6cyl Mustang, but I am genuinely interested in the EcoBoost model.
Also, I have to say that the aesthetics of a dual exhaust appeals to me, whether or not it's actually functional. Something about the symmetry that makes me appreciate it more.

Great review Mr. Regular, I like that you did a relatively modern regular car that your average person would look to buy. You kept it real, and honest, and did not spend unnecessary length of time talking about the mundane points of the car that no one cares about, but the joy of driving it, the appeal, and is it a good car or not. I know you do not do the typical new car reviews, but if you could keep this model of good used, achievable car reviews, combined with the traditional humor, i think that would be great.

3" single exhaust split down to two 2" pipes decreases the amount of vertical room needed (not as "tall" under the car). It flattens the overall footprint of the exhaust, albeit makes it wider.
Not sure what the situation is in this case, but thats what my 335i did.
whatever you gotta tell yourself
I think it is more likely the N55 335i does this because the older N54 335i had true dual exhaust from the twin turbos, and they didn't want the newer single turbo to seem like a downgrade (also the reason I think they harp on the "twin scroll" nature of the turbo and call it twin power, even though it is a single turbo.)
@@NGG1983 Totally agree with this, the N54 has true duals. My 09 135i (as well as my e46 330ci) have true dual all the way back but they both come out on the same side, so it looks like single exhaust.

“My Little Boomer” unbelievable analogy for Mustangs lmao
This one killed me
I remember doing a certification/inspection on one of these that got traded in at the Toyota dealership I work at and I was really impressed with it.
I used to have one of these. Throw on a tuna and a CAI and it completely changed the cars damenor. The turbo can make 22psi of boost at 2300rpm reliably and the CAI working with the stock blow off valve gives you all the turbo sounds you could ever dream of. Loved this car.
Damn Mr Regular, pulling no punches on this one right from the beginning. Flaming hot take that I mostly agree with.
I have a purposeful dual exhaust on a single turbo I4-A Veloster N with performance pack. The exhaust is valved so one side is resonated and the other is straight through, so you can be commuter quiet or loud pops and gurgles just by toggling a setting on the steering wheel.
There is a reason for dual exhausts: Two mufflers with the exhaust pulses split over two exits is more silent
FocusRS owner here,
Quick note about unplugging the mic or harness to stop the engine noise (Same system with this Mustang). It does also stop the active noise cancelling, which isn't a big deal when just on the road, but is a pretty big deal if using your phone with the bluetooth in the car. There's so much noise through your call that people can barely hear you. It's annoying, but if you plan on using hands-free anything in the car, keep it plugged in.
2:36 I think that’s everybody.... I wanna wear is “CHIZZ” or “SUTUTUTU”
Great, now I'm gonna have "Shiny Teeth and Me" stuck in my head for the day.
Older than most of you, as a very young kid I remember walking back to our station wagon in a grocery store parking lot when the Mustang came out in '64. I couldn't read yet but I saw that horse emblem on the grille and all-excited I said, _"Look daddy, a horsy-runner!"_
Honestly, the biggest mistake Ford made, when making this wasn't the engine choice, but rather the name.
They could've just given it a slight restyling (like, four roundish headlights and a more rectangular grille, and different rear side window shape), and called it the Capri Turbo, and everyone would've loved it.
The 4l Ecoboost is the engine that the gt86 badly needed, instead of the gutless boxer. Ford only needs to fit the v6 Ecoboost on this one to be the perfect sports car
The Mach E 459hp had to be limited because the 5.0L is rated at 460HP
Sports cars need to sound good unfortunately the only one that does is the five liter coyote. That's the only problem I have with a mustang having four cylinders is that it sounds like garbage.
8:30 Wow that gives me chills. Life lessons from mr. Regular. respect! thank you!
