This double prize was neat. As someone who never got to play SMM1, I find these videos really nice. It's a shame we can't use the costumes anymore in SMM2...

All the training on conserving lives in endless whilst playing smm2 has made the traditional 100 man challenge in smm1 trivial for the master Ryu (Seems like failed runs and real close calls were common back in the day but lately on the rare occasion he returns to smm1 he beats it with tons of lives to spare!)
True, he's improved a lot definitely. Also a little luck might be involved too in the courses that he gets dealt.
mostly just luck, at any point in SMM1 you can get the most preposterously difficult and/or broken levels lol
You can tell it's luck because he didn't get any phantom jumps in the second half of a level.
He's definitely a better player now but most of those horrid levels from back in the day would still end his run. 140 second speedrun, Terrible Life Decision, that level with the Lakitus throwing spinies. And obviously 12 midairs.

I personally prefer watching SMM1 super expert, the stages are harder and more entertaining usually. Plus there's the added suspense & engagement that comes along with there being a goal after a certain amount of stages. I loved today's video Ryu! I personally just prefer the fact 100 Mario has an ending, so it feels like you’ve actually hit a satisfying ending

@@LFPman It's like a weird classic Nintendo problem. Don't add on a new mode and retain other ones to the sequel, let's just remove a mode and put a new one in it's place because it means the games are different for the sake of being different. It would be so simple just to leave all the previous modes.
Two runs on SMM was two more than I could have hoped for. Loved the video.
I agree that SMM just hits different. The fact that you're rewarded at the end of six levels just feels so satisfying.
I prefer 100 man over endless mode anytime! It's just so much more rewarding, and tense if you ever start running out of lives again :D

I miss SMM1 too - building on the gamepad just felt way better. As for why costumes got removed, it was probably because of multiplayer!

SMM2 and SMM are very different games. Newer isn't always better, but it is different. Love the original 100 mans, and playing gives you more unique content because most Mario content producers stay away from it for no adequately explained reason.
Lol that last level of the first run was VINTAGE Mario Maker 1. Feels like it was made 6 years ago.
My most hated movie villain would be one who wants to capture Ryu and have him stop making SMM1 videos. But we all know he would find some cheese and escape.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love these SMM1 no skip videos. There's this magical atmosphere about them. I recently re-binged the first fifty episodes of SMM Super Expert No Skip and it's one of the best series on youtube. I don't know what it is, I just love it!

Love SMM1 man, it feels kinda nostalgic to me. Besides 100 mario challenges, also would be fun to watch you playing viewer´s recommendations, because there are some crazy kaizo masterpieces out there that would make a fun challenge for you.
You did two runs in one video before: you did a custom "endless run" where you carried over the lives from one run into another for a special episode of Super Expert No Skip (episode 50, I think). But you were actually trying to in that ones, and you crashed and burned in the third because you were tuckered out by the first two runs (which were nasty, nasty runs as is typical of MM1). And it was over an hour long.
Bowser was on a kidnaping speedrun, Mario couldn't even get her back to the castle before having to take off after her again.
Has every level in MM1 been beaten at least once? If not, it would be a fun series if you went through the Uncleared MM1 levels and see how many you could beat

Every time you play mm1 I get excited because I beat so many crazy levels in that game that I’d love to see you take on and I also have a level or two of my own I’d love to see you play so I go into each video hopeful.

SMM1 is big energy, something about the 100 man 6 levels system just hits different than endless
I think the difference between the two games is the outlook Ryu adopts.
SMM1: Full of hot garbage, with Ryu looking for the gem.
SMM2: Full of good levels, with Ryu looking for the hot garbage.
I personally can relate to Ryu more with SMM1, so I hope he sticks with it.
I don’t get why this isn’t in Mario maker 2, like there’s the endless mode, but I feel like this should just be another mode, and hopefully they’ll add this back in mm2

May be an unpopular opinion, but I would love it if you could play more smm2 online multiplayer. The chaotic energy is just hilarious and there’s nothing better than another player fumbling the win at the last moment
