Always thought it was pretty cool in Odyssey that the first thing you take over with Cappy, the frog, is the last thing you use Cappy on in Darker Side. Love that game.
The pachinko level isn't really that bad if you take your time with it. The poison lake and chuckster shines are much worse. The poison lake one especially is borderline impossible if you don't know about the exploit related to it. Meanwhile "I'm a chuckster" is just burnt into my memory, literally nothing to help you in that level
I'd include that Lily Pad level in Sunshine as well, since: - You need Yoshi to get rid of the Juice Generator that's on the pipe, but it's on an island that Yoshi can't reach by jumping or swimming to (since he "dissolves" in water) - You have to ride a series of boats to get over there and make sure that Yoshi doesn't go hungry on the way there. - The level itself requires Mario to collect 8 red coins, while controlling a lily pad that is floating on toxic water. Mario will instantly be killed by touching the water. - The lily pad will dissolve if you're not fast enough, so you're on a bit of a time limit - The pipe at the end of the level will take you back out to Isle Delfino, where you have to do the whole thing with Yoshi. THE WHOLE THING about bringing him back to the island and destroying the Generator with his juice. - If you miss JUST ONE COIN, it's faster to just lose a life and respawn. You can't afford to miss any coins, because of how long the lily pad lasts for. Not only that, but FLUDD might run out of water, since you use it to control the lily pad, and it's kind of janky. It's not as bad as the boat in Corona Mountain, but It's VERY close in quality. Everyone and their uncle talks about the Pachinko level, but I've personally never had much issues with this level. Maybe I've been lucky with not dealing with the glitches that this level has, since I have seen how glitchy this level can get. Plus, it's FAR easier to get to, since you just have to ride one of the boats under an archway, and have Mario jump up into the secret level.
Here's a tip for the lily pad level, if you miss some red coins get on the edge of the level and walk slowly back to the start with the hover nozol on in case you slip. I did this as a kid.
As someone who did it ALL for the Galaxy games, the Perfect run was an insane challenge to do. Truly the best way to end the Wii era of Mario (not Wii U)
No fr. I had to beat perfect run with Mario, because even though I love Luigi so much more, Luigi kept slipping off the platforms when I was jumping around, and not only that but he jumps higher so the laser section was something else.... so I unfortunately beat it with Mario, who was slightly less hard at best
It's actually quite refreshing to see nintendo do difficult levels (the fair kind lol) in these mario games, the level of polish they show & expertise of level design shows that they *could* make some truly vile levels, but they want mario to have very accessible level design for both casual play & speedrunning, which leads to a lot of player expression & varying skill ceilings. NOTE: Shoutouts to Poochy Ain't Stupid, Kamek's Revenge, Endless World Of Yoshis, & SMB3's world 7 first airship level.
Oh gosh, Poochy Ain't Stupid and Kamek's revenge... there's hard, there's Nintendo hard, and then there's those two levels... forget 100%ing them, just beating them is a task. 100%...best of luck. Gosh I miss those days. 😭
Dude my college room mate and I used to play these levels all the time. We played Mario All-Stars and constantly tried to speed-run these levels while stoned. It was so much fun. The difficulty of the 'lost levels' didn't even phase as we would just hand the controller to the next person and keep trying our best to progress. Great video!
You can actually skip a big chunk of the Darker Side dungeon. If you shake the controller a lot during the Glydon part, you can fly straight to the Bowser painting
I love how in the New Super Mario Bros U "Don't. Touch. Anything." challenge, whenever you stop, Mario looks directly at the screen, as if he's asking "You seeing this sh*t???"
Darker Side is only difficult if you play it like an old Mario game, where you rush the ending. If you play it like Odyssey, by checking every nook and cranny, experimenting, the works, you have a better time. The corners are always full of coins to top you up to max, and the Sphinx even gives you a full restore halfway. Your mind is your opponent on the Darker Side.
Also note for C3 that you have to beat the whole game 8 times to unlock it. Unless ur playing the SMAS SNES port like shown in the video, in which case you only need to reach world 9

Everytime whenever I play those levels, I try to quote Arins’s improv stories from the game grumps battle kid episode. Sometimes it helps, other times it doesn’t.
Why do people find the Pachinko the hardest level in SMS? Yeah it's incredibly janky but it's very short and really simple to beat. Some of the FLUDD-less levels are way tougher in my opinion. The same goes for World 9-7 in NSMBW, I beat it on my first try on my first playthrough while getting every Star Coin while starting as small Mario, there was only a single hard jump I had to do. Don't Touch Anything from NSMBU is definitely extremely hard, but Cashless Castle Crawl is way harder, it has the same gimmick with more precise platforming AND no running.
Yeah it's not "hard" as much as severely annoying. I think it's more a matter of showing zero respect to this level cause the level clearly doesn't show us players any respect. If it didn't have that fake gravity pushing us around then it'd have been a fine level.

How to beat Champions Road in SM3DW Step 1: Grab two Power-Ups: (Cat Bell and Tanooki Leaf) [Cat Bell in W1-1 and Tanooki Leaf in W3-1] Step 2: Enter Champions Road with the Tanooki Leaf equipped and the Cat Bell in the inventory and go through the level like normal Step 3: Use the Tanooki Leaf up until Green Star 2, then swap out the Tanooki Leaf with the Cat Bell and climb up the tall walls (Use the bounce pad to launch you to a higher point on the wall) Step 4: before the boost pad section, swap out the Cat Bell with the Tanooki Suit, this will be much easier then just using the cat suit at the boost pad section Step 5: Swap out the Tanooki Leaf with the Cat Bell after the Boost Pad section to grab the flag pole and climb your way to the top! Final Step: Repeat this 4 more times Did i mention that you can't get hit once? That is how you beat Champions Road
Oh, I remember when Wonder was freshnout of the market. I spent so many hours trying to beat that Badge Marathon one. Though now I can say with pride that I have 100% Wonder
I would say the sunshine one is top 3 hardest, being Noki bay 6 number 2 and the one you go through a lava-covered pipe and get 8 coins in a river would be number one. The one in this video I would say is more tedious than hard
I agree that the pachinko machine level is easy but boss blitz is easier most of 3d world bosses are so easy most of them is just bounce on their head three times
The hardest mario level for me its the daredevil bouldergeist with Luigi in Mario galaxy 1 not only its a hard boss you have to dodge all of the spike, balls and ghosts while only one health and with Luigi’s slippery movement
It's strange that I actually had fun in the badge marathon. Died many times , but still a fun finale. .... the only level of this list that I've never completed , is galaxy 2's perfect run. Haven't tried it in like 15 years , but I remember having around 120 lives. And losing them all.
24:35 on Darker Side? Personally (and this is only me) I thought that one is pretty easy? I mean sure the lava bubble and the flying part to get to those twister things on 28:56 is annoying af but overall, the level isn't so bad. My only Beef is one of the Moon Levels, where you can't use cappy and Mario has to get both moons, the one with a key and the bottom where a bonzai bill is after you while you try to get the bottom moon that his hidden with those blocks. That one. I find incredibly frustrating.😤😤😤😤😤
(beats the secret level of Mario wonders) Me:huh well that was challenging but I thought it be a Game: YOU FOOL THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL LEVEL!!!!! (begins charging up)
9-7 in Wii is SUCH a SADISTIC level. I literally suffered for an HOUR getting all the Star Coins in one run just 'cuz I didn't wanna play such a sadistic level TWICE... I'm NEVER going for 100% again in Wii
3d land was my first mario game with these kinda levels and nothing hurts more than when I finally got to the "thank you!!" I fell of the map because I went on the unfolding green thing
He did it on the WiiU version, but I agree. Ive only managed to get it once on the WiiU version and I dont own the game anymore which is why I bought it for the switch. And Ive beaten it on there maybe 5 or 6 times by now
20:10 the music of the level makes it hard to follow the changing of the beat blocks, but if they were changing at the speed of the music, then it would be impossible to get past that section of the level
Doing the Perfect Run 6 times was just mentally exhausting. Because 100 percenting these games on every profile on every console it's playable is no easy feat.
The wii U challenge is the only one I have not played outside of wonder as I just do not seem interested in wonder and I am a jump man fan. The new super mario brothers two challenge is second weakness on this level above the 3D Land challenge. Me personally I would say the level C-3 in lost levels is the worst then the perfect run.
This list needs Tubular from SMW. A level requiring a perfect run through a level using a P-Balloon. This level is filled with Pitching Chucks (Chargin’ Chucks throwing baseballs), Punting Chucks (Chargin’ Chucks kicking footballs), Red Paratroopas, Volcano Lotuses, Jumping Piranha Plants and 2 extra P-Balloons which you MUST get to stay in the air! No ground. No checkpoints. If you take ONE hit, or if you don’t get the next P-Balloon in time, you deflate, you fall, you die and you have to start the WHOLE thing over! Having power ups makes NO difference. NOT EVEN THE CAPE FEATHER WILL SAVE YOU HERE!!! As soon as you get hit, you’re GONE! I can’t even count how many times I got the GAME OVER screen trying to beat this.
Darker Side took me hours to beat on my first run of it. I started my first attempt by saying "Nintendo levels, especially the ones in Odyssey, aren't that hard. How hard could this "challenge" be?" I was so wrong...
@@waxy1885 but 9-7 isn’t a hard level if you just run to the flag pole, it’s only “hard” if you try to get all 3 star coins in the first round, which you know…you could just replay the level (and even then the first 2 Star coins are easy to grab)
The Super Mario Odyssey level is the longest but I would also say that it is absolutely the hardest level of all Marios put together, boy, there are 14 individual hardcore levels, how are you supposed to do that?
In this video, you forgot to include Luigi’s Purple Coins & Lava Spire Daredevil Run from the first Galaxy game, since those are super tough as well! Luigi’s Purple Coins is tough because of the turning platforms and the weird camera angle. And also, Lava Spire Daredevil Run is very tough & unique because it’s the first & only daredevil comet in the entire game in which it’s not only the boss fight with Fiery Dino Piranha. NOPE, you have to go through an entire level without getting hit even once! And similar to the Perfect Run in the 2nd game, if you make just one single mistake at anytime in the level, you have to go ALL the way back to the very beginning since there’s no checkpoints, unlike in Boomsday Machine Daredevil & Mini Planet Daredevil! Bowser’s Big Bad Speed Run is the first & only speedy comet in the Galaxy games to ever have a checkpoint.
I honestly can't believe someone was disturbed in the head enough to create champion road, I've never been able to even get past the second room with any character, i hate it so much, and seeing what was waiting next, literally how could someone program that, its just cruel.
I managed to finish most of them, and they are really hard, the one I suffered the most was Mario Galaxy 2, but I'm still suffering with Mario Wonder, I can't get past the invisible part, it's HELL!! They still say Mario is a child's game.

Use the Tanooki Leaf up until Green Star 2, then swap out the Tanooki Leaf with the Cat Bell and climb up the tall walls (Use the bounce pad to launch you to a higher point on the wall)
Step 4: before the boost pad section, swap out the Cat Bell with the Tanooki Suit, this will be much easier then just using the cat suit at the boost pad section
Step 5: Swap out the Tanooki Leaf with the Cat Bell after the Boost Pad section to grab the flag pole and climb your way to the top!
Final Step: Repeat this 4 more times
Did i mention that you can't get hit once?
That is how you beat Champions Road
Great video man I love it ❤️🥰🫶
Oh, I remember when Wonder was freshnout of the market.
Beating Darker Side with the invisibility cap will always stand as one of my prouder accomplishments in these Mario games
1:25 Pachinko is actually kind of easy, imo. Enough lives, enough precision, you win. 3D World’s Boss Blitz is definitely harder.
The fact that you're losing lives in Pachinko is enough to label it the hardest. XD
No, it is really difficult one of the hardest levels of all time
I agree that the pachinko machine level is easy but boss blitz is easier most of 3d world bosses are so easy most of them is just bounce on their head three times
4:35 adyson sweetwater: champion's road huh, well if Gohan (Geo) can do it then so can I
15:45 bouncy: Gohan has escaped the sunset temple
24:35 on Darker Side? Personally (and this is only me) I thought that one is pretty easy? I mean sure the lava bubble and the flying part to get to those twister things on 28:56 is annoying af but overall, the level isn't so bad. My only Beef is one of the Moon Levels, where you can't use cappy and Mario has to get both moons, the one with a key and the bottom where a bonzai bill is after you while you try to get the bottom moon that his hidden with those blocks. That one. I find incredibly frustrating.😤😤😤😤😤
(beats the secret level of Mario wonders)
Me:huh well that was challenging but I thought it be a
Game: YOU FOOL THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL LEVEL!!!!! (begins charging up)
9:21
This level was the first thing in any game that took me over two hours to beat.
I forgot how slow you were in the original 3d World
Please The hardest Kirby levels!
Its just gonna be every boss rush from Return To Dreamland and every mainline game after that
9-7 in Wii is SUCH a SADISTIC level. I literally suffered for an HOUR getting all the Star Coins in one run just 'cuz I didn't wanna play such a sadistic level TWICE... I'm NEVER going for 100% again in Wii
When I read “Good luck getting all the star coins in one run on this level” my mind instantly thought of 9-7… damn that infernal thing
Something have a bad day when have the idea to create this levels
Kaizo Mario devs entered the chat: ...
I find it kinda funny because a C3 was code name for a detention in my old school
You might see three but I C4
That was impressive, but you forgot Make the Cut! from Super Mario Run. Now don't get me wrong, I like this game sometimes.
my boy Dashie would be sweating playing these levels 😂😂😂😂😂
Pachinko is still my Trauma to this Date!!
Impossible pack more like ... TORTURE PACK
3d land was my first mario game with these kinda levels and nothing hurts more than when I finally got to the "thank you!!" I fell of the map because I went on the unfolding green thing
It’s easier to clear Champion’s Road in Super Mario 3-D world on the Nintendo switch than on the Wii U! You just have more control on the switch.
He did it on the WiiU version, but I agree.
Ive only managed to get it once on the WiiU version and I dont own the game anymore which is why I bought it for the switch.
And Ive beaten it on there maybe 5 or 6 times by now
You actually move a little faster in the remake.
@@rottencabbage2021 and you can do the "dive"
20:10 the music of the level makes it hard to follow the changing of the beat blocks, but if they were changing at the speed of the music, then it would be impossible to get past that section of the level
This is the definition of “you want a challenge you got it”
Doing the Perfect Run 6 times was just mentally exhausting.
Man, I love mayro and loui!
I can’t even count how many times I got the GAME OVER screen trying to beat this.
imagine doing all that in mario wonder just to miss the top of the flagpole
After mario beat the the final run in the special world he would say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PLAYING MY GAME !!😂😅🎉🎉🎉
Darker Side took me hours to beat on my first run of it. I started my first attempt by saying "Nintendo levels, especially the ones in Odyssey, aren't that hard. How hard could this "challenge" be?"
I was so wrong...
Good vídeo
My brother is the champion of Super Mario 3D World. And yes. He suffered a lot until the end.
35:42
NES TMNT Flashbacks
I always thought 'the perfect run' was a me problem, no wonder why i love this game
I never had a problem with darker side, but the hardest part of Odyssey to me was the goddamn rocket levels
The end of that Impossible Pack second level with the rotating blocks looks actually evil
0:11 the wind sounds like the f-zero engine
Badge Marathon level was so hard that I was swearing and crying at the same time cause of losing countless amount of times
C-3 being *post game content* should be pretty telling of even the devs thinking it was too hard
LEST GO SUPER MARIO ALL STARS MENTIONED
How dare you not to mention Tubular from SMW?
I'm surprised neither Tubular or Outrageous from Super Mario World isn't in this list
Fr, Tubular should have been there instead of 9-7 from NSMBW
@@RayoMcQueen95990There are several levels in this video way easier than 9-7, so no. I think it just had to be added among all of them
@@waxy1885 but 9-7 isn’t a hard level if you just run to the flag pole, it’s only “hard” if you try to get all 3 star coins in the first round, which you know…you could just replay the level (and even then the first 2 Star coins are easy to grab)
Tubular isn’t even the hardest level in SMW, in fact it is rather mild.
In all the 3d mario games, the perfect run to me will always be the hardest. Champions Road being a close second.
Why didn't you show tubular from mario world? that level was so frustrating
8:57
Now go for the one up mushroom behind the house it's worth the fall if you miss
The Super Mario Odyssey level is the longest but I would also say that it is absolutely the hardest level of all Marios put together, boy, there are 14 individual hardcore levels, how are you supposed to do that?
You can just beat the boss part of S8-👑 if you trained in 7-Airship
boom boom isn't even a problem you can literally just constantly target pom pom cause her shell slam attack is barely even a problem
What about Bouldergeist Daredevil Run? hardest boss level in the game
@@CatherineMitchell-uq4sw Yeah, that one is pretty tough as well
@@alecfrancis628
And surprisingly on Super Luigi Galaxy I beat it 1st attempt and hadn't realized I was playing the Prankster Comet until afterwards
Cool your jets, I completed this 3:00 level 1st try. Almost the best tryharder could do this. Oh yeah I kept the Penguin Suit.
when i was like 5, i completed the impossible pack after a week and that's my biggest brag in a mario game.
8-2 Mario 1. That darn jump !
Difficulty levels aren't so easy like we all thought! They're all brutal as hell!😨
Seeing the level from Sunshine again after all these years triggered PTSD, I hated that one with a passion.
Not including the manta ray level from galaxy is criminal
Facts on that Super Mario Sunshine Pinball like a true pain in the butt I swear I couldn’t stand it
Took me over 100 tries to do badge marathon and he clears it in one go. I need to get better
I honestly can't believe someone was disturbed in the head enough to create champion road, I've never been able to even get past the second room with any character, i hate it so much, and seeing what was waiting next, literally how could someone program that, its just cruel.
Man I remember that this before last level from the specisl world in NSMBW was so rage inducing since I wanted to get every star coin from the game.
I cant get over the fact that whenever I see your name my eye immediately thinks "liver"
I managed to finish most of them, and they are really hard, the one I suffered the most was Mario Galaxy 2, but I'm still suffering with Mario Wonder, I can't get past the invisible part, it's HELL!! They still say Mario is a child's game.
You can cheese that part by spamming the emoji button or putting the game in multiplayer since multiplayer will always give one player a crown
