Well think of it this way. When you learn to type, eventually they always cover up your fingers and make you learn blind. If they never did that, you'd probably never learn to do it without seeing your fingers. She needed someone to do the same thing, just make her practice blindfolded every day for weeks. It's sorta common for people not to ever learn left from right, it's so easy for most people that nobody ever bothers to teach them properly

lefty loosey, righty tighty isn't a rule for which way is left, it's for which way bottle caps open. if you turn them counter clockwise or left, they open and if you turn them clockwise or right, they close/tighten.
I never liked the "righty tighty, lefty loosey" thing since I'm messing with a circle which doesn't have a right or left. I feel like I'm twisting to the right but it loosens and twisting to the left tightens and sometimes it feels the other way around. And it only gets worse when the cap/screw is facing away from you.
