This might just be the best piano piece ever created.
maybe best ballad。
Yeah
And the most difficult and virtuous. So much that to play it decently has to have a very high grade.
agree
It's between this and la Campanella for me.
This is SO GENEROUS! A tutorial, a marked score...wow. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to learning this with your help.
did you learn it?
I just don't get how you are not a concert pianist touring around the world, you just play like a pro I have no words
He has priorities. Being a concert pianist and go on a tour is apparently not one of them
The thing is competition. There are so many absolutely brilliant pianists who will never make it as concert pianists. Judges are brutal, they have to be. But if you are not coming at least 3rd consistently in the big competitions, no chance. It's a bit silly really. Humans turn everything into war.
Not that he is not good, but there are many in the world who can play as well, if not better than him. Being a concert pianist is a very difficult job. You may think it's easy, seeing how some of the top tier concert pianists who make it look easy. But there are many more who are laboring in the middle tier. And they can all play as well as Paul.
Sometimes I prefer an Amateur's performance of a Beethoven sonata versus a Concert Pianist.
In terms of expression, emotion, he is really small pianist, listen to Arthur Rubinstein the difference between AR and this guy is millions and millions
You easily could have been a concert pianist. You make this incredibly difficult piece look so effortless the way you play it and you also play it beautifully never letting the piece get away from you. Thanks for sharing this.
As far as I remember from a documentary, he used to be a concert pianist

He was
9:50 this part is so beautiful that it's literally inhumane that anyone could've thought of this
kind of reminds me of beethoven’s appassionata
@De St i think he meant inhuman
Paul, Paul, Paaaauuul... You are an inspiration. There are no words to describe, for we mere mortals, the grace, skill and dexterity you bring to every performance.
Thanks, Martin! you are far too kind to me.
@@richapborne6870 ?? are you stupid
@@richapborne6870 it's too lol
BRnico yes 😂 yes he is
@@richapborne6870 oh no
Paul you are a extraordinary pianist! I feel like its more authentic then most professional pianist who perform on stage.
Armani Nguon thing is he has as many attempts as he wants, in live concerts you only get 1, but yes, he is really good
@@davidenalini8371 This looks pretty unedited though. Yeah, he got to pick the best of the bunch of recordings, but you can tell he's got this piece down pretty damn solidly
Arguably the best piano teacher on RUclips. Thanks a lot, Paul, and keep it up!
Oh my god thank you so much for taking my request!
You are my favourite RUclips channel!
Yeah I also remember requesting this. Paul Barton really is a good man! (^_^)
6:00 omg I always thought that I was supposed to use my left hand for both the octave notes. Btw beautiful performance, the expression was similar to Krystian Zimerman.
you can do that as well, using both hands give more power
This is amazing, demystifying all this technical works, Thanks so much for the selfess-ness, and a big thank you to the patreons too to facilitate these.
YES! I've waited so long for this video. Thanks so much!
I am LOVING the annotated score! Thank you so much for this extremely educational tutorial
but his annotations are often completely wrong... Chopin wrote the exact annotations.
This is beautiful. I never get tired of listening to this !
Paul, you are a truly gift for musicians on RUclips! Not only musicians I'd say, but specially for us! Thank you so much for your videos, performances, lessons and everything. You are an amazing pianist and an incredible teacher as well, I'd love to study with you! Please, never stop uploading!
Paul Barton: I Love your teaching ability, the immense artistry in your person. Congratulations
This is great, I am waiting sooo long to use Your Tips. That's great You did it for us!
Brilliant, no other words, my favourite piece played almost flawlessly I respect you, man.
Thank you Paul , we missed your tutorials , please make more , you are my favorite channel on RUclips, keep going , thank you
this sounds so... unfazed. when I play this piece I feel like a madman trying not to miss a note or cadence or crescendo, but this sounds so controlled and easy.
Thank you so much for this incredible upload. It is extremely useful... and beautiful. Please keep these coming.
So so good! Slowly making my way through one section at a time. I’ll get there eventually.
Great channel, great playing and great advice.
Marvellous Paul! God bless you for this moment!!!! I'm amazed!
Incredible! Thank you so much for doing this, it will definitely aid in my learning the piece.
Paul Barton I have grown to appreciate and he has possibly set the standard for all those who want to play the great and popular piano pieces requiring great technical skill. Paul does this very effectively with his modest approach explaining all details of the piece ,how he approaches it and then always rendering a flawless clean perfectly finished product. He does mostly Chopin where he is an expert . One could always learn from him much for free or pay someone like him over 100.00 dollars a lesson. Thank you Paul
Yes! Thank you. I'm working on this right now, I'm just before the part where the g minor theme repeats before the coda. Thanks for the tutorial.
I'm speechless! What a talent! Paul, you 're a great and a complete Artist. I admire you so much. Greetings from Madrid Spain 💖💖💖💖💖
I've been longing for a video like this... Thank you so much Paul!
FINALLY! Paul I was waiting for this for sooo long :D
Your practice score has been incredibly useful for me. Thank you
I have been waiting for this and it was worth the wait! Thank you thank you thank you!
This is absolutely incredible... seeing your stubby fingers flowing would have undoubtedly impressed Chopin, who wrote this for his own freakishly long and agile fingers
Thanks for all the wonderful lessons, you are a gift to humanity Paul.
The microphone you are recording with is phenomenal, and the interpretation, very clear and pure, it makes me want to return to the piano... in a serious way. but well, in a third world country there's very hard to find a legit good teacher to help me with my technique, just watching your finger reminded me on how relaxed and flexible I have to be, thank you SO much, for bringing me back those memories :')
What a suprise to wake up to! I have been longing the day this video came out! Major thanks again Mr. Barton
I love your videos so much 😭 My favourite pianist ever.
Your videos always succeed in sprucing up my day. That cheery, light-hearted approach to music never fails in lifting my spirits.
And as always a masterful
rendition👌👌
You are literally the best piano player I’ve ever heard. I can hear the passion in the way you play.
Best piano tutorial and demo ever. You are great! Congratulations and thanks!

What a wonderful way to hear/see so much of this piece (as a listener)! thank you Paul....my brother played this often, with great emotion. Your video brings me back to my brothers great interpretation of this great composer. Ross
Never clicked on a video this fast
This is one of the best guides I’ve watched - I love your notes on the piece!
jesus christ, this was mind blowing. i've known this piece for years but finally seeing the notes and someone play it... that was just on another level.
I really love the ballade nb 2. Nb 2 is probably my favorite piece (or one of my fav). I usually don't see many people talking about it for some reason
Many thanks for the PDF! I got so much motivation from you.

Wow! Great to see the hands of a master at work. Well done.
Great tutorial, thanks! And such a beautiful interpretation!
Thank you, Mr. Barton. I'm a beginner from Taiwan who started to play at age 32. I find your video very informative and helpful! I always try to imitate the way you play. You have the best interpretations of many pieces I love!!
God bless you Paul for sharing your skills.. You the BEST there is! GBless
I used to think that this was nearly impossible just from trying to sight read the sheet music. but picking up some technique from your video gives me a boost of confidence
The amount of effort in this video is just wow- thank u for the video!!
thank you !!! It will be very useful for me! I known this piece , note by note, memorized by heart Paul... I can't thank you enough!
Breathtaking performance ! Thanks Paul !
This is one of my faves !! Thanks for making this needed some help with some parts this clears it up
Thank you so much paul!!! I'll put this in my 2018 new year resolution
You are a beautiful soul, by helping us who are trying to play this awesome piece you deserve more views. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Just beautiful, Paul!
you are a genius and I mean it. I've followed you chopin's 8th prelude tutorial some years ago and I managed to play the piece almost easily. Now this is my favourite piece of music since I'm 14 years old (35 now) and I decided to finally start practicing it. It's a bit terrifying, but now that I found out that you made a tutorial on this one I dare to try. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Paul! This is the most useful tutorial I have found and is immensely helpful for my practice and learning process🙏
WOW! Just had to say thank you for posting this with the score and the hands, which helps me follow along and sets me up to "hear" and appreciate more of the notes and passages. (BTW I don't play) This vid is one of my favorite versions of this piece and i was not surprised to read other commentors mention your credentials. Then, when reviewing my favorites, and preparing to listen again to some guy who did a fantastic version of Claire de Lune, i realized YOU were the guy who posted that incredible version :-) Thanks again.
Thank you very much. That's awesome. Now I wanna play the piano more I did. Thank you for it. Your playing is fantastic
It made me cry. Sounds so beautiful! I hope I can play like you someday..!
Your notated score is amazing, thank you!
this is the most useful piece of sheet music ive ever come across
Thanks!!! wonderful tutorial!
Thank you so much!!! This lesson has been very helpful to me.
Sublime!!! Messieurs, chapeau bas! Thank you Paul
I was told one time that it isn’t about making a piece seem hard it’s about making it seem easy and you do that and it gives me hope that soon I can learn this
thank you so much for the guide and notes, reallyyy helpful!
Lovely. It' s the one that was played on the Pianist movie when the German soldier found the Jewish pianist. It was so beautiful.
Thank you very much for making the notated score available publicly!! :) I can't wait to dig my teeth into this song.
Just phenomenal i watch this probably everyday
Que lindo! Fiquei com vontade de voltar a tocar piano.Parabéns Barton!

Wonderful. Thanks a lot for that. I’ll make big use of your notes 👍🏻
you're such a wee gem paul. thanks a million
You play so beautifully! These notes you've written down would be amazing for Chopin's Valse opus 64 no2. They're so helpful when refining a piece
Thanks for the tutorial, really helpful and save my good day.
Thank you so much Paul!
That was superb! Subbed
My favorite piece :) I hope to play it one day. Thank you Paul :)
