I'd really like to try out an A770 but right now in the US it's impossible to buy one at normal price. The only ones I can ever find for sale are on eBay for around $450. Sadly that's around the same price I can buy a 6700XT or 3060ti for right now and in normal "flat screen" gaming benchmarks the A770 is no where near as good as either of those GPU's so I just can't bring myself to pay that much for one.

I’m looking to buy a new gpu and I’m between these, but tbh I’m not sure about the stability of the 6700xt, because currently I own a rx590 and it’s a nightmare at the point I have a more stable experience with my gtx 1050 laptop

Despite what you may think. the RTX 3060 is worse in the VRAM due to it being a slower 192-Bit bus, yet the rtx 3060ti shares the 256-bit bus on the 3070, However that was just to clear up rumors and that card will still be perfectly fine for VR!
Is there a one click solution to set multiple settings to different games? I seem to have to change multiple settings every time I want to play something different to get the best out of each game.
Surprisingly you're using the same card I just ordered today and should have arrive in a few days. I've been using a PNY 770 4gb OC card since 2013, and it's been a surprisingly long lived card. While I would prefer replacing it with another 70 class card; this is what I can afford, and for the games a play use my PC for - I'm hopeful I'll get something close to that lifespan with the 3060ti.
Hi. Thanks for the detailed video. Need some advice please. Play a lot of the time on a VR headset (Quest mk 1) with the computer AMD Ryzen 7 2700x, 64gb 3200Mhz Ram and a AMD RX 580 8gb graphics card doing all of the work before sending it through wifi to the headset via Virtual Desktop. Would a 16gb upgrade graphics card make a marked increased in the graphics of such games as IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad to the headset or would there be a negligable difference? Thanks in advance.
Can you test RX 6800 for VR please? I am not sure if I should get the rtx 3070 or the RX 6800. They are selling these for the same price in my country. I am buying a new computer for VR specially.
Looking to get a rx 6700xt for its price to performance and now this video made it clear.. even so whats your opinion on 6700xt vs 3060ti vr performance??
just saving money for 3060ti, only thing i dont understand why would you set the render resolution so high, when you got only 72 fps.. i think 80 fps is minimum that feels normal, and when i switch to this card, i will gladly lower the resolution to get 90 fps..
I like the graphics to be as sharp and clear as possible. I'm ok with 72Hz if that's what I have to do to get the graphics as sharp and clear as possible. I find when the graphics are pixelated and blurry it kinda gives me a headache which is not fun. Personally I have an RTX 3080ti and play at 4704 x 2384 90Hz all the time since it's capable of it. Also there are people out there with headsets that run at a higher resolution than the Quest 2, (i.e. HP Reverb G2) so I crank it up to help give them an idea of what a GPU can do in their headset.
@@Maraksot78 oh okay, its just about preferences, i dont mind little bluriness, but when i set a game to 72 hz, i see the display flashing and get sick..
I've been trying to solve this mystery for two years now. Like me, you are getting "Application Dropped Frames" count going up even while there is plenty of performance headroom. Shouldn't there be no dropped frames in this case? Yes, dropped frames makes sense when your performance headroom dips or spikes below zero, but WHY are there dropped frames no matter how much performance headroom???
Wonderful video! I have a 3060ti pc myself, and I was wanting to know if you could do a vrchat benchmark in the headset. Go into rooms full of people and monitor the performance, I really want to see. Thanks!
I saw one of your videos published about 2 years ago and was wondering if this is what I would need to convert two 3.5mm headphone jacks into 1 jack to plug it into my laptop since it doesnt have 2 headphone jack ports and only one. Great vid, though i read somewhere half life alyx uses dynamic resolution depending on frame rate, so setting it on steam VR should have no effect on actual resolution in game.
I came here because when I was playing Arizona Sunshine 2 on my 3060 ti. I was struggling to maintain 72fps on medium settings. I don't remember what I have the render resolution set to in the Oculus app. My CPU is an i7 9700k. I know it is getting a bit old. I had to drop the game down to the 'low' settings to not use up all the vram the card has.
I just got a meta quest 2 the other day. I have not gotten to mess too much around with settings. My pc has the same specs as you listed. How bad is the air link vs how the cable works?
I don't know. I never use a link cable. I did all my testing using AirLink. I like the freedom AirLink provides and use it all the time. Visual fidelity can fluctuate a lot with AirLink but if you set it up right and use the right settings it looks amazing and games run great. Happy to see this. My 3060TI is alright by the moment for VR, but I'm planning to get a 3070 or 3080 in the future. My Quest 2 is on the way and I'm looking forward to play many games with it.
Literally dumb. If you really wanna upgrade get the rtx 4000 series. anyway the rtx 3060ti is still a top tier card. And most people still have gtx 1000 or rtx 2000

Interesting, i have a 3060ti, with link i get framedrops every second or two, only game that almost doesnt drop them is dirt rally1, everything else is unplayable. So i went back to virtual desktop, that runs much better, but im still playing most games in 1.0 zero res, (for example alyx at fidelity 4 thru console command, thats something like 1,1), virt desktop res at medium, 80 hz, msaa 2x (default is 4x), in game settings all at medium/low. any higher settings would mean a ton of stuttering when moving. Lone echo 2 all on low except textures medium, bloom and fog on, res 1.0, autoresolution on, msaa off, that blurry antialias on, 72 fps, and i get a ton of stuttering when i move around. My specs are i5 9400f, 16gb 2660mhz ram, temperatures are fine.
@@kostihouse 5900x is really good but tbh really expensive right now even if some places drop it to $350 unless money isn’t an issue i’d say get a Ryzen 7 5800x pretty much the same performance say for a few more frames. and it’s much cheaper too.
I had big issues on my 3080Ti when playing VRChat. The game maxed out my 12GB of VRAM and it would then proceed to crash. Even turning off AA and setting graphic settings to minimum, it still hovered around 11,5GB out of 12GB of VRAM or even more.
That sounds like an issue with the game. VR Chat is not a good example of VR performance considering all the sucky effects people can use to troll you and crash your game.
@@Telekxm Believe me, I have tried everything. Every setting. Disabling anti-aliasing, lowering graphics settings, maximum safety. But how fun is that?

Now I typically do my tests using a Link cable, but I made this video awhile ago, and I don't remember if I used a Link cable for this one or used AirLink.
For most games right now 8GB is enough, but Lone Echo 2 maxed out the VRAM on this card and going forward games are only going to get more detailed. update: I just tested the RX 6950XT in Lone Echo 2 which has 16GB of VRAM, while playing Lone Echo 2 it used just over 12.5GB of VRAM.

I'd go with a 6700XT for the additional VRAM. The 3060ti only has 8GB and the 6700XT has 12GB. However, if you're using a Quest 2, Nvidia GPU's typically have less issues you have to deal with. Although, most of the problems I've had lately are with Radeon 7000 gpu's. Radeon 6000 has been fine for the most part.
I have a couple different reasons for turning anti-aliasing down or even off for VR. The purpose of AA is to reduce "jaggies" at lower resolutions to make the image appear smoother and less blocky or jagged. While this is great for flat games at 720p or 1080p and stuff, the reality is the more you increase the resolution the less anti-aliasing is needed because to your eyes the images already appear smoother because the pixels are so much smaller. I try to run VR at 4704 X 2384 if possible in my tests, which is actually higher resolution than 4K (3840 X 2160). When running games at that high of resolution with the pixel density being as good as it is on modern headsets (the Quest 2's native resolution is 3664 X 1920) I feel you don't need AA as much. In fact in many games the higher you turn it up the blurrier the visuals become, making it look worse in my opinion. So I like to turn it down to keep the graphics looking as sharp and crisp as possible. Also depending on the type of AA turning it up higher has a greater impact on performance, so in my opinion I'd rather turn it down to get sharper looking graphics and get a better framerate.
Are you using a desktop PC or a laptop? Even though they have the same names, laptop GPU's are not as powerful as their desktop counterparts. If you are using a desktop GPU then I would ask what CPU you have and what your RAM speed is; as those will both make an impact as well.
My ram is 3200 but since it was in signal mode is was really running at 1600, so I switched my ram into dual channel mode and BTW my cpu is amd ryzen 7 5800x
Thanks for this great video! I own a rtx 3060i for my Asus 27 inch WQHD 165 hz monitor which does a good job for my current games (inlcuding FS 2020, rF2 and ACC). I'll pass on VR. If i go VR i want the same screen quality i have on my 27 monitor. And for that i need a HTC VR 1500 dollar and a at least a 3090ti from 2500 dollar. Ohw...lets upgrade my PC to Z790 which will be around 2000 dollar. And to just play a game in VR for 6000 dollar...nah...i'd rather travel around the world in realtime for that money
Why do you test so ridiculously high above your headset's actual resolution? Quest 2 doesn't need over 1920 x 1832 per eye, it doesn't really give a realistic indication of how well it would run if you weren't going overkill. I have a rift s with only 1440p per eye resolution and it's completely fine.
First of all thanks for checking out the video and for the question. I test at higher than native resolution for several reasons. First, I just like how sharp the graphics look when you set the render resolution that high. This is tied to my next reason, which is something called Super Sampling. When an image is rendered at a higher resolution and then sent to a display where the resolution is lower the image actually looks sharper/better than had the image been rendered at the native resolution of the display because the data sent to each pixel on the display is an average of the multiple pixels it's being sampled from. i.e. Super Sampling. This is something you can see very easily when watching movies and stuff on a 1080p TV. Blu-rays are 1080p but most movies have either been shot at 4K or 8K so even though the resolution of the blu-ray movie and your TV is only 1080p it looks sharper and clearer than content that was shot at 1080p. The last reason I test at higher than native Quest 2 resolution is because there are headsets out there that have higher resolution displays than the Quest 2. For example the HP Reverb G2 has a resolution of 2160 x 2160 pixels per eye (4320 x 2160 total) where as the Quest 2 is 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye (3664 x 1920 total). And going forward the displays in new headsets are only going to get better and most likely pack higher resolution displays so I figure it's good for people to see just how high you can go.
Can I ask what FS2020 looked like in the headset? Was it graphically clear? I'm getting the same setup..... but with slightly less specs.... Processor is Ryzen 5 5600x and GPU 3060ti ram Corsair 2x 8 GB 3200mhz 500gb ssd M2 and 2 tb HDD What would you recommend I upgrade for a better performance? I'm only buying it for FS2020
To be fair running it in "flat screen" mode on a monitor is less demanding then running it in VR although to max out the settings on a monitor you still need a good amount of horsepower because there's just so much stuff that needs to be rendered. For VR you're GPU is essentially rendering the game twice, once for each eye. This is how the sense of depth is created for virtual reality. Since your GPU is basically having to do twice the work in the same amount of time performance is obviously going to be effected.
I'm gonna check other games cuz for me it's very bad and ugly on F1. With more ram and a better cpu..I'm connected with a link cable but only 2ghz data transfer
8gbs ain’t enough for regular gaming in 2024 let alone for VR… I would say you need atleast 12 gbs of ram for the gpu do ya self a favor and treat yaself don’t cheat yaself 😎🤙🏾

Great video! I have one question, the wireless experience compared to the 6700xt is the same or with the nvidia codecs you get a smoother experience?
I’m looking to buy a new gpu and I’m between these, but tbh I’m not sure about the stability of the 6700xt, because currently I own a rx590 and it’s a nightmare at the point I have a more stable experience with my gtx 1050 laptop
I recently tested the PowerColor RX 6700XT Red Devil and it performed just as good as the 3060ti. I did all my tests using AirLink with both GPU's and both GPU's performed great.
Here's the link to my review of the 6700XT if you haven't seen it.

You'd give us so much more information if you did MSI Afterburner tests too. For example, the VRAM usage is very important, but I can only wonder what's going on there.
Also, you would indirectly benchmark RAM and other stuff too.
Right now, these benchmarks turned out very limited
Good that you mentioned it at all in this video though
I was looking for blade and sorcery but this answers most of my questions ty 😊
you end up buying it? if so, how does it run on blade and sorcery?
Great video! Thanks for the content!
i havent gotten a pc nor a vr headset the one im going to build has a 3060 12gb so i think the vram problem wouldnt be a problem for me with the GPU im getting and thanks for the benchmarks so now i have a good idea how i should put my settings at
I ordered a 3060 12gb card today! How has ur VR experience been?
Despite what you may think. the RTX 3060 is worse in the VRAM due to it being a slower 192-Bit bus, yet the rtx 3060ti shares the 256-bit bus on the 3070, However that was just to clear up rumors and that card will still be perfectly fine for VR!
this video was perfect in everyway
Thanks for this. I'm Safe to assume your running airlink, yes?
Yes, I like the freedom from wires the Quest 2 provides.
Brilliant only one I have found. Please do more ❤
Is there a one click solution to set multiple settings to different games?
Hey man
Could I play half life Alyx with an
3060 ti 8gb
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
32gb ddr4
Yes
Looking to get a rx 6700xt for its price to performance and now this video made it clear.. even so whats your opinion on 6700xt vs 3060ti vr performance??
Do you know now cause I need to choose between these two?
If you open afterbuner, it will say the reserved memory, not the utilized in Vram.
So then I’m assuming vrchat will be like nothing?
yuppp it can run it with ease
just saving money for 3060ti, only thing i dont understand why would you set the render resolution so high, when you got only 72 fps.. i think 80 fps is minimum that feels normal, and when i switch to this card, i will gladly lower the resolution to get 90 fps..
@@jancizek8757 I can totally respect that. There's no point playing VR if it makes you feel sick.
You think you can benchmark a rx6800? Hovering between an 6700xt and 6800 and just curious on which gpu to get
Thought he was going to do something else at 8:09...
dude dude dude please don't HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wonderful video! I have a 3060ti pc myself, and I was wanting to know if you could do a vrchat benchmark in the headset. Go into rooms full of people and monitor the performance, I really want to see. Thanks!
lots of juddering of the picture there, is that in the headset or a recording anomoly?
I saw one of your videos published about 2 years ago and was wondering if this is what I would need to convert two 3.5mm headphone jacks into 1 jack to plug it into my laptop since it doesnt have 2 headphone jack ports and only one.
"HTTX 3.5mm Male to Female Headset Splitter Adapter for Headphones with Two Separate Headphone/Microphone Plugs- 3.5mm 4 Position Male to Dual 3 Position Female Plugs M/F"🤔
Afterburner (or any software for that matter) will not tell you actual video memory usage, only how much is allocated.
Great vid, though i read somewhere half life alyx uses dynamic resolution depending on frame rate, so setting it on steam VR should have no effect on actual resolution in game.
Do you think the RTX 3060ti will be a good PCVR graphics card for long-term use? Or will a 12gb RTX 3060 graphics card last longer?
I was wondering the same.
my new pc is gonna be just great with a 3060 ti when previously i was playing vr on my laptop that has a 970
I came here because when I was playing Arizona Sunshine 2 on my 3060 ti.
This is a link to a video I made on the setup and settings I use for AirLink if you're interested.
ruclips.net/video/-Tt-H4IIdJs/видео.html
@@Maraksot78 thx. I’ll check it out.
Air link and cable are almost the same quality of visuals for me,playing with cable saves battery.(rtx3060ti,i5- 12500,32 RAM)I play sim racing only.
Hey man so I was looking into installing a new ssd but I have a prebuilt meaning I don’t have a screw for the ssd and was wondering if you knew where I could buy one and if all ssds use the same size screw
would this be somewhat relevant to the 3060 alone?
Happy to see this. My 3060TI is alright by the moment for VR, but I'm planning to get a 3070 or 3080 in the future. My Quest 2 is on the way and I'm looking forward to play many games with it.
Literally dumb. If you really wanna upgrade get the rtx 4000 series. anyway the rtx 3060ti is still a top tier card. And most people still have gtx 1000 or rtx 2000
@@2yt4u.14. the price difference between a 3080 and a 40 series in my country is beyond 50% in some cases. You need to know the person's reality before assuming anything.
My specs are i5 9400f, 16gb 2660mhz ram, temperatures are fine.
it could be your cpu or ram tbh, look into getting faster ram if you don’t wanna upgrade your cpu yet.
@@isitkev i cant get a faster ram with this cpu (9400f), so im saving money now, i think the best bang for the buck looks to be ryzen 5900x?
@@kostihouse 5900x is really good but tbh really expensive right now even if some places drop it to $350 unless money isn’t an issue i’d say get a Ryzen 7 5800x pretty much the same performance say for a few more frames. and it’s much cheaper too.
Can you tell me your image settings in Steamvr?
I had big issues on my 3080Ti when playing VRChat. The game maxed out my 12GB of VRAM and it would then proceed to crash. Even turning off AA and setting graphic settings to minimum, it still hovered around 11,5GB out of 12GB of VRAM or even more.
That sounds like an issue with the game. VR Chat is not a good example of VR performance considering all the sucky effects people can use to troll you and crash your game.
You need to change your safety settings ingame
@@Telekxm Believe me, I have tried everything. Every setting. Disabling anti-aliasing, lowering graphics settings, maximum safety. But how fun is that?
@@Olaus_ I played Vrchat in vr with my 1050ti and got 60 fps so idk what wrong..
which tool do you use to show the performance statics in VR?
I just use the performance overlay in the Oculus Debug Tool.
How much fps do you got in asetto Corsa
I have the same exact specs on my pc as well besides having the 5900x and with half life alyx at the default resolution and low fidelity, im dropping constant frames and i have no idea why
but was this done using airlink, quest link, virtual desktop, or steam link?
Now I typically do my tests using a Link cable, but I made this video awhile ago, and I don't remember if I used a Link cable for this one or used AirLink.
Y la versión de gddr6x mejora en vr?
great video
What resolution did you set on steamvr?
I just run it at whatever it defaults to and it looks amazing.
Would this be good for very max settings on h3vr
What processor do you use it might be affected if he performance?
0:22 lists the test system specs, but I used a Ryzen 7 5800X CPU
Obviously it’s enough like the 3gb 1060 can work Brett well on assetto corsa vr even though it’s on medium settings
For most games right now 8GB is enough, but Lone Echo 2 maxed out the VRAM on this card and going forward games are only going to get more detailed.
update:
I just tested the RX 6950XT in Lone Echo 2 which has 16GB of VRAM, while playing Lone Echo 2 it used just over 12.5GB of VRAM.
I wonder what im doing wrong then . I play assetto corsa vr and i get stable 45 fps with 3070 aorus master ....
Specs :
I5 12600k
Aorus rtx 3070 master .
32 gb ram 3200
With aio....
But i do use game setting maximum with oculus vr and nor open vr
How is the VR experience with rtx 3070 in general? I want to buy RX 6800, but people say rtx 3070 is better for VR
Isn't there a thing when you are in vr it kinda smooth it out even at 30 fps because I could play at 30 fps and it feels like 60
Yes there is reprojection that does that. Oculus has their version called asynchronous space warp.
@@Maraksot78 ok
So 3060ti or 6700XT? what would you recommend?
I'd go with a 6700XT for the additional VRAM. The 3060ti only has 8GB and the 6700XT has 12GB. However, if you're using a Quest 2, Nvidia GPU's typically have less issues you have to deal with. Although, most of the problems I've had lately are with Radeon 7000 gpu's. Radeon 6000 has been fine for the most part.
Would you suggest a 3060 12gig or a 6700xt for Vr
6700xt for vr
Please do the 12gb version
Can you do the 4070 non ti
Why is anti-aliasing always always set to low in your test?
I have that but I only get 80 fps in blade and sorcery and beat saber??
Are you using a desktop PC or a laptop? Even though they have the same names, laptop GPU's are not as powerful as their desktop counterparts. If you are using a desktop GPU then I would ask what CPU you have and what your RAM speed is; as those will both make an impact as well.

11:04 well faster ssd will be helpful
I'm using a Samsung 970 Evo m.2 NVMe SDD in this PC, that not fast enough for you?
Or turn off synchronous warp...
It makes the objects from a far look clearer which is render resolution actual resolution is just the pixels on the screen
Can I ask what FS2020 looked like in the headset? Was it graphically clear? I'm getting the same setup..... but with slightly less specs....
Processor is Ryzen 5 5600x and GPU 3060ti ram Corsair 2x 8 GB 3200mhz 500gb ssd M2 and 2 tb HDD
What would you recommend I upgrade for a better performance? I'm only buying it for FS2020

euro truck and american truck, i9 9900k RTX3060 and 32GB memory ram
Talk about over kill lmao
Did they make Flight Simulator for NASA computers only!?
To be fair running it in "flat screen" mode on a monitor is less demanding then running it in VR although to max out the settings on a monitor you still need a good amount of horsepower because there's just so much stuff that needs to be rendered. For VR you're GPU is essentially rendering the game twice, once for each eye. This is how the sense of depth is created for virtual reality. Since your GPU is basically having to do twice the work in the same amount of time performance is obviously going to be effected.
I'm still using a 1080
This is only for standalone headset right? If I use Rift S I can expect much better performance with 3060 12GB?
