Purchased mine new from Schonlaw Chevrolet in Hollywood, Ca in January of 1981. I vividly recall taking my then girlfriend (now wife) to the Winnetka Drive-in. There was a railroad crossing on the Boulevard, and in going over it, the whole dash assembly shook as if on a hinge, at which point Rhonda who was startled, asked if it was normal for everything to 'move around like this'? I had the car for about a week at this point and took it back to dealership telling them something was wrong to which the service manager replied. "They all do that". The build quality on these things is about as janky as it gets. Window regulators rattle. Doors are heavy and shut with all kinds of crash/bang/rattles. Side glass seals are only called 'seals' as they sure didn't do much to keep wind noise from being annoying. I traded the car less than a year later for a Nissan 280ZX which was superior in every way. So bad was the Z28, I had a mechanic buddy tell me I should have bought 2. One to park with the other to ram into it. Just a personal opinion from someone who drove a brand spanking new one off the lot.
