Laptops aren't intended to be run at fully duty cycle, just boost once in a while, else their cooling system is pushed to the limit, and even when it can keep up, the noise usually warrants earplugs. This little system can go all day any day, it's silent, and if someday a component gives up the ghost, it's an easy and relatively inexpensive replacement.

If you do this, I'd probably go with the InWin Chopin instead of the InWin B1. It's got a lower wattage PSU, with 150W instead of 200W, but you're not gonna go above 150W with a 5600G (someone powered a 5700G off of it without exceeding 135W), and the side panel is mesh rather than glass
It's also a lot smaller, it's basically the size of an ITX motherboard

I don't see a lot of games doing better than 60 FPS on this hardware. It would be interesting to see this done with less expensive parts.
There are HDMI adapters for laptop panels. Take the screen off an older laptop with a 60 Hz screen, screw the hinges into the top of this case, get the 12 volt power from the PC's power supply and use a wireless keyboard and mouse.
I think that would make it cheaper and infinitely more portable.

As a uni student, having a small PC (15 litres in the Silverstone RVZ03) has been super useful. In it is a triple slot Palit Gamerock GTX 1080 (this *should not* fit, it does anyway), 16GB DDR4 3000MHz and a Ryzen 5 1600. It takes up minimal desk space which is convenient, but the main advantage is actually the portability. Not laptop style "take it anywhere" portability, but "staying somewhere over the weekend" portability. All the upsides of a desktop, except I can carry it where I want it in a medium sized shopping bag, spend the weekend gaming and carry it back without needing a car.

I recently recycled my old hp dv6 (p8600+ati 3650) laptop screen, a glorious low view angle 1366x768 lcd screen, and made it into a "portable" screen. The issue is that it's portable but not it won't work with powerbank, I tried a step up module but it won't power on on anything below 12v 3 amp (I guess it's too old as the backlit module is not integrated). It cost me 20€ for the controller board and I made it in anticipation for the Steam Deck, so that I'll have a low res screen to pair it with in case games won't run well at 1080p and don't suffer through the blurry mess of not running games on native resolution, also as a screen for backup.

They don't call/market it as Vega on the 5000 series, also the 5300G have 6 compute units so it would be Vega 6 if they did.

Reminds me of my first itx build. Cooltek Coolcube, AMD Athlon X4 750k, ASRock FM2A85X-ITX, GTX 650TI and later GTX750Ti. But back then it was cheaper then any comparable laptop. XD

"You could, conceivably, use this to play games online". Well thats a good start for 2021, being able to play a game online.

I bought that same exact portable monitor and held my breath when I hit purchase, it's such a genuinely good monitor though and great for digital design and illustration. Or gaming in bed with a lap desk lol

    *VIDEO IDEA*
Alright, so I have the PERFECT plan for your 2nd attempt.
Get the GOLDEN FIELD M3S ITX case (Can fit Matx) or something similar with a glass side panel that is small, get a portable monitor and or just use the one you have if it fits. Now, double sided tape the screen to the inside of the glass side panel (Gorilla Tape makes some rated to hold 60lbs, works amazing). You can get some right angle adapters to ensure the cables plug in without straining but this way you can have all the cables almost completely internal, just have to run the HDMI and USB power for the display out of one of the PCIE card slots to plug them in.
As a Bonus you could theoretically put a handle on the top of the case and add internal speakers in the bottom of the case that would also just have to run out of one of the pcie slots for power but it's like 5 inches of external cable, aside from the power cable of course, and the mouse and Keyboard and potentially controller, in which you could just go wireless. But in the end you could just use it as a regular gaming PC and hook it up to your regular monitor or desk setup because you'd just have to unplug the internal stuff and tuck it inside (cable managed) neatly.
I'm doing that exact thing for Christmas.
Keep up the great work, hopefully this gives you some good ideas for content and *Happy Holidays Dawid!*

High refresh rates on low frame rates (low as in 60) still reduce the latency in the stack significantly.

If you want peak performance, one could put a 5600g for a little bit more juice, and switch to wireless peripherals for cleaner easier carrying. No need to fumble around with cables.

My Laptop has Vega 7 (so even a bit better than the Vega 6 here) integrated graphics and games are running very decent on it.
It also has a 1660ti, so apart from certain battery saving conditions and dual screen setups I am not using the iGPU at all.
I really want to see what the new APUs with RDNA2 can do. If the Steam Deck is any indication, it might just make 1650s and similar cards obsolete.
