I used to be an over the road truck driver and a gamer, and had a full 24” Samsung monitor mounted in my truck. No issue there. I’ve been waiting for one of these for taking my machine on an aircraft for my overseas trips. This would be sweet. I have a handle assembly that straps on my M1 and can go as my personal item the way a laptop bag can. Gotta get another M1 for a new 3080 rig I’m planning.
I'm a college student, and even more than desk real estate my main reason for going SFF is for the portability. Being able to pick up my system with one hand and move it from my dorm to the student lounge, back home on the weekends, and wherever else I might want to bring it is very appealing to me. And since I'm a college student, my budget doesn't allow for any really high end components, so I'm not limited all that much by the size of my case - I'd probably be getting a Ryzen 5 3600 and 1660 Super even if I was doing an atx build. I use a laptop when I go to classes of course.
I live in very small apartment that doesn't have much space. I have ITX PC hidden behind couch pretty much, and use projector to project the image to wall when gaming / watching movies, and drawing tablet when drawing or doing some other work when I'm not using laptop.
amazing content as always, I am glad you've done the review for the screen, I want to move from using a gaming laptop for work to using a portable ITX setup with that screen. my work as a designer requires a lot of power, and I travel a lot as you said semi permanent. well, not now due to Covid.
I bought this monitor and did the unboxing video too on my channel, but after 5 days of use 8 pixels went from normal to total green and it was so annoying while gaming and watching content, so I sent it back. Good thing I had 1 month return back.
came back to this video recently since i compete in valorant but have to take my desktop for lan, but right now the most cost efficient way has become laptops. what I do now to travel is i bought a budget lenovo loq16 with i7 13620H. since all i play is valorant i get some crazy performaance averaging 400 fps which is the sweetspot for me, take my 25 240hz monitor with me and its the perfect little setup that allows me to play without compromises, sure the 25 inch monitor is a bit of a hassle since you need a suitcase but i always take one anyways since i spend several days so no prob. and with the mobile 4060 sure is not the most powerful gpu but i can still stream and get clips with it without any real performance impact. I initially wanted a NUC kit or build my sff setup but the laptop was so cost efficient, only 1400 for a package like that over having to spent 2-3k on a nuc kit or sff build.
I've been using this portable setup for 6 month: asus xg17 logitech g413 logitech g915 TKL K39 build I can put all that on any space in the house, just 2 cables. much better than any laptop
i wish there was a 120hz version for up to 300€ (with tripod). i switch between my own home and my parents home fairly often so, if they released that lower spec i would buy it
I traveled with a Sliger Cerberus X for 9 months and just bought a 43” 4K TV on sale. Granted, it obviously sucked for gaming, but was great for productivity and media content.
I would love something like this as a secondary display for watching/reading things while gaming as I don't necessarily need the full 24" or 27" size for just a second monitor. But at $500+ that's a steep ask...
Casual with a velka 3 and a 15.6” 60hz usbc portable monitor. This thing looks to die for. Unfortunately the only thing dying are its pixels based off early reviews.
For those who don't have the money or are not willing to pay so much for a mobile monitor: Try to find a used and broken (gaming) laptop with a decent functioning panel. Get a controller board for that specific panel on ebay or aliexpress. If you want it to have mobile power, use a USB PD 12V trigger and a PD power bank. You may not have such a pretty casing and stand but you can probably diy something.
You can get similar monitors for really cheap on AliExpress. I've been using a 17 inch, 1080p monitor as a secondary monitor when i travel for 2 years and its been great. It gets power from the USB of your laptop/PC and uses mini-HDMI. Super thin, come with a small foldable stand. Im sure they arent they same quality as this ASUS one, but they are much cheaper and work OK!
I am absolutely a use case for this. I have a Dan A4 build I use for travel, LAN parties, etc. It fits into a camera bag that airplanes allow as a personal item, along with a keyboard, mouse, and portable monitor. My portable monitor rn is a 1080p 60Hz IPS from AliExpress. It was about $130 CAD, and works well (unlike many that use usb and special drivers, it's mini HDMI and driverless). Only issue is response times, as gaming is pretty noticeably difficult for it. I'd love something similar to this. 240Hz is unnecessary, 120 or 144 would be better (to save cost). I don't know if 17" would fit in my bag, so a 13 or maybe 15 would work better. I just stick mine in a laptop sleeve, which allows me to use the stand it came with, which has full tilt flexibility rather than 1 angle like the cover stand for this thing. I prefer that, cause the full fancy stand on this might take up too much space. So if Asus or someone else wants to make something like that, and do it a bit cheaper, they'll definitely have a customer out of me.
As someone who traveled for work for several years, I can't see myself using this. The fact you need to back up the tower, the monitor, keyboard, power bricks for each, and also safely pack it all up to be moved seems like a huge migraine compared to just throwing my gaming laptop into a backpack and going.
Rocking a K39 build with 2060 super. Predator x34P for home use then XG17 in carry bag and backpack for K39 Case. My included tripod has a flimsy stand but thats the only downside so far
I kinda switch continents like 4 times in a year, and had 3 laptop so far In 6 years, the last one being a gaming Acer laptop that cost me around 4400$ CAD and broke the next day of the end of the warranty (of 2 years). I was pissed then about laptops and did switch to a K39 along with a drone backpack that can take a 15 inch portable display and keyboard and such. So the reason I switched to a portable config like this is the way too short lifespan I unfortunately experienced with laptops. It's been only a month since I have a setup like this but one thing that is 100% sure is that technical difficulties or support will be much more easier to adress than with a laptop or their manufacturers.
I would say I have something similar to this, but that similar is a 16" Wacom Cintiq that can just work as a standalone monitor. The added bonus is that I can draw on it too hehe
I have using this monitor for 3 months, I have try several cases and found the best balance one is dan a4, it can cooled a 5.0 ht off delided 10900kf by axp90 and rtx 2080ti fe. And also keep the total travel weight below 7kg( 4.8kg for console, 1.25kg for monitor and 0.6kg for mouse and keyboard.)
I'm currently eyeing this. My reason to buy is to hook it up to a series s console for some light gaming on the go, plus I can also use this in a dual monitor setup with my gaming laptop. But the price is definitely steep tho..
Great one! This is almost the display I'm looking for - I would happily trade off 96 to 120 Hz for a bit wider gamut and pen support, and perhaps a bit weight-shave (I understand that only the tripod is ~600gr). Regarding portability, what's your 10L PC weight? I got mine at 6kg (12.5L 12x26x40cm fully 9900K+2080ti water-cooled with 360 rad) I'm using EK FluidGaming aluminium series loops (Damn be EK for discontinuing the lineup!) NOTE: the 9900K is overclocked to 5GHz and undervolted a bit thanks to OptimusTech great video on exactly that topic! So many thanks for that!! :) Currently I think the heaviest single component is the PSU, sf750 comes at almost a kilo (so I even wonder if I can reverse engineer the PSU housing to get its panels copied and machined from aluminium in some metallurgy-studio) I had to shave 200gr with custom (cablemod) cables, though I did it primarily for the space savings (can't really claim cable-management as they're just dangling around there, but the PSU cables are just about the correct length so not much to dangle, however the SIX fans' cables are a bit ugly :D) Just as comparison a desktop-parts gaming laptop like Alienware Area-51m Weight 3.87 kg + Power Supply: 2.16 kg comes to above ~ 6kg (though that includes the keyboard and display obviously, but the rtx2080 is not a TI model) But while even the lightweight SFF PC is rather chunky and heavy (compared to most laptops) at least it has no real upgrade limitations (I plan to upgrade it to the new Ryzen 9 5950X hence doubling the cores & multi-threading speed, and adding ~19% to single-threading at the same or lower power consumption ... not something you can do with a laptop) Here's an old picture from the first fill-up: photos.app.goo.gl/NgEyg3Qq3sfWjj9Y7
Do you already have a budget full itx build? Im from the ph and itx parts here are hard to find. Im a fan of itx builds but still cant build right now because of the pandemic. I love your itx content.
There is this roundup video from 2019 (ruclips.net/video/-_QFAWcaGTM/видео.html), but you will need to rethink this after the new parts come out in Q4.
Yes, this something I'm looking for to build, after new GPU's and CPU's are released. I travel a lot for work, sometimes all week, and I need something for my gaming habit. I have a Predator laptop from 3 years ago, did and still dose a good job, but the problem with laptops is upgrade. with an ITX you can swap GPU, CPU, whenever you want or need more power, plus the extra performance from a desktop variant vs laptop one.
Would love to see a fully comparison video between portable builds and gaming laptops where u highlight pros and cons for each and to whom it is recommended. Like so he can see. 😃

Ur honestly is unmatched in every video.
LAN PARTY SETUP! God this is an awesome little setup.
I have ITX PC hidden behind couch pretty much, and use projector to project the image to wall when gaming / watching movies, and drawing tablet when drawing or doing some other work when I'm not using laptop.
amazing content as always, I am glad you've done the review for the screen, I want to move from using a gaming laptop for work to using a portable ITX setup with that screen. my work as a designer requires a lot of power, and I travel a lot as you said semi permanent. well, not now due to Covid.
i freakin love this channel, and it influenced me a lot. I wanted to build a big RGB Case next, but now i want a stealth small ITX PC
Really ideal for a travelling gaming set up.
dude I was just explaining how good your channel icon is to my bros yesterday and now I saw this xDDDD I need some time to buffer to it
Ahhh the 'interstate truck driver' use case, at last someone listened!!!
I bought this monitor and did the unboxing video too on my channel, but after 5 days of use 8 pixels went from normal to total green and it was so annoying while gaming and watching content, so I sent it back. Good thing I had 1 month return back.
That's exactly what I want! Unfortunately, the price is just too much for me.
I guess I'll stick with my 20" Sceptre monitor in my travels.
ill put it on my next list
I am traveling quite often and use this in my truck and hotels with Xbox series x portability is the name of the game. Good functionality 👍
came back to this video recently since i compete in valorant but have to take my desktop for lan, but right now the most cost efficient way has become laptops. what I do now to travel is i bought a budget lenovo loq16 with i7 13620H. since all i play is valorant i get some crazy performaance averaging 400 fps which is the sweetspot for me, take my 25 240hz monitor with me and its the perfect little setup that allows me to play without compromises, sure the 25 inch monitor is a bit of a hassle since you need a suitcase but i always take one anyways since i spend several days so no prob. and with the mobile 4060 sure is not the most powerful gpu but i can still stream and get clips with it without any real performance impact. I initially wanted a NUC kit or build my sff setup but the laptop was so cost efficient, only 1400 for a package like that over having to spent 2-3k on a nuc kit or sff build.
Did you make a video on this pc? It's beautiful!
I started on a 15inch CRT monitor. I think this one will work just fine as a daily monitor. 🤗
I got my T1 in the post the other day. Love it. Spray painted it white. Now waiting for the Alphacool bits for the custom loop.
In the late 90s we had 17” screens that could be powered by desktop - we’ve come full circle
That maybe the greatest combover I've ever seen!
Will be interested to see what you can do with the new rtx 3000 series. Video idea: the smallest volume case that can run it without under clock
Probably a Velka 5
I would want to make an itx if I was traveling places, and this video helps me know what to get when I eventually build an itx system. Thanks dude!
stick this onto the side of a modded Skyreach 4 Mini and you'd have one hell of a powerful AIO PC
Crazy cool, and all powered by a single usb c? That's madness
I've been using this portable setup for 6 month:
asus xg17
logitech g413
logitech g915 TKL
K39 build
I can put all that on any space in the house, just 2 cables. much better than any laptop
The only problem is the tripod. I bought the pack without it, and now it not possible to buy it alone...
How did you get the usb-c port on the graphics card?
I wished there was a 4K/60Hz version of this 17" panel. Not for gaming but for work and its incredible pixel density
Do you have any videos of your ITX build? I love it
i wish there was a 120hz version for up to 300€ (with tripod). i switch between my own home and my parents home fairly often so, if they released that lower spec i would buy it
I traveled with a Sliger Cerberus X for 9 months and just bought a 43” 4K TV on sale.
I like your new logo better
I'd buy something like this for productivity purposes. Just a normal portable 1080p panel that can fit into my backpack alongside my laptop.
A laptop on a stand next to this would be so good.
For those who don't have the money or are not willing to pay so much for a mobile monitor:
Try to find a used and broken (gaming) laptop with a decent functioning panel.
So if Asus or someone else wants to make something like that, and do it a bit cheaper, they'll definitely have a customer out of me.
a gaming pc video where the footage isnt actually garbage
Omg i was searching about this monitor 15minutes before open YT and find out OT did video about it
thats for you
Google is monitoring you as always
quickkkk 500k subs can’t wait
As someone who traveled for work for several years, I can't see myself using this. The fact you need to back up the tower, the monitor, keyboard, power bricks for each, and also safely pack it all up to be moved seems like a huge migraine compared to just throwing my gaming laptop into a backpack and going.
There are smaller displays and custom itx builds out there for travelling. This build i feel like, is more about moving houses or rooms
Thank you for your clean Video ❤
My question: how do you connect your PC with the monitor with the USB C cable? Is that with PD?
great camera work
A portable setup from you, an ultra clean setup from Linus Tech Tips, today is a great day
Love the new intro.
I would like to see a review of the more affordable ones sell in AliExpress
the more swole you get, the smaller your builds look. clever sir.
Rocking a K39 build with 2060 super. Predator x34P for home use then XG17 in carry bag and backpack for K39 Case. My included tripod has a flimsy stand but thats the only downside so far
Its also worth talking about the inbuilt DAC which is actually really good
velka3 + this monitor would be a portable dream lol.
You should try adding hashtags in the video description to make RUclips algorithm suggest your videos more.
Sup ali! Would you ever be reviewing artisan pads ? Great video btw! Keep it up
This was exactly what I was looking for
This is probably better than my setup
Got this from the first day and i am totally happy with that. Just about the buttons they are a bit difficult to press for my feelings
I think a nexdock style dock for itx pcs is the best option, and as a bonus you can use it with your phone as well.
Here from UFD Tech I'm loving what you do
If it has a vesa mount, drill some holes in the side panel of you're pc case and mount it. Boom! Massively powerful portable all in one gaming pc.
I would say I have something similar to this, but that similar is a 16" Wacom Cintiq that can just work as a standalone monitor. The added bonus is that I can draw on it too hehe
i take my itx carry on and the monitor was always the hardest thing to pack but now i have found the answer
I don't recommend formd t1 because it is way more heavy when compare with fan a4.( 1.25kg vs 2.5kg)😂
I'm currently eyeing this.
My reason to buy is to hook it up to a series s console for some light gaming on the go, plus I can also use this in a dual monitor setup with my gaming laptop.
But the price is definitely steep tho..
im using this with asus flow z13, and it's a great portable setup
Great one!
This is almost the display I'm looking for - I would happily trade off 96 to 120 Hz for a bit wider gamut and pen support, and perhaps a bit weight-shave (I understand that only the tripod is ~600gr).
Regarding portability, what's your 10L PC weight?
I got mine at 6kg (12.5L 12x26x40cm fully 9900K+2080ti water-cooled with 360 rad) I'm using EK FluidGaming aluminium series loops (Damn be EK for discontinuing the lineup!)
NOTE: the 9900K is overclocked to 5GHz and undervolted a bit thanks to OptimusTech great video on exactly that topic! So many thanks for that!! :)
Currently I think the heaviest single component is the PSU, sf750 comes at almost a kilo (so I even wonder if I can reverse engineer the PSU housing to get its panels copied and machined from aluminium in some metallurgy-studio)
I had to shave 200gr with custom (cablemod) cables, though I did it primarily for the space savings (can't really claim cable-management as they're just dangling around there, but the PSU cables are just about the correct length so not much to dangle, however the SIX fans' cables are a bit ugly :D)
Just as comparison a desktop-parts gaming laptop like Alienware Area-51m
Weight 3.87 kg + Power Supply: 2.16 kg comes to above ~ 6kg (though that includes the keyboard and display obviously, but the rtx2080 is not a TI model)
But while even the lightweight SFF PC is rather chunky and heavy (compared to most laptops) at least it has no real upgrade limitations (I plan to upgrade it to the new Ryzen 9 5950X hence doubling the cores & multi-threading speed, and adding ~19% to single-threading at the same or lower power consumption ... not something you can do with a laptop)
Here's an old picture from the first fill-up:
photos.app.goo.gl/NgEyg3Qq3sfWjj9Y7
Take note on k77v2 case. It's good
Clean af they should make big monitor Like this clean looking no rgp very Nice product.
Pretty strong setup!! It's amazing that nowadays you can fit this much power in such small form factor!.
P.S. What's the wallpaper at 5:59?
Yes, this something I'm looking for to build, after new GPU's and CPU's are released. I travel a lot for work, sometimes all week, and I need something for my gaming habit. I have a Predator laptop from 3 years ago, did and still dose a good job, but the problem with laptops is upgrade. with an ITX you can swap GPU, CPU, whenever you want or need more power, plus the extra performance from a desktop variant vs laptop one.
only thing this review was missing a good case to transport all of this
I put it in my hand carry with foam sheets on the side.
When the video is so clean and sharp, as always. I thought the stain on the table at 4:38 was a dust or something on my monitor
Would love to see a fully comparison video between portable builds and gaming laptops where u highlight pros and cons for each and to whom it is recommended.
Like so he can see. 😃
Hi. Do you have the ITx specs? It looks great. Nice video also
I've actually had a gstory gst156 monitor for this exact sort of setup for a good while now. 15.6" with the same port setup and gsync over usb-c. I ended up modding my sliger sm580 acrylic panel to use the monitor as part of the case. for me, it's the ultimate portable setup
