It's a shame that most people won't buy this phone because it's outstanding for what it offers and for $449, it's a steal. I love the Motorola ThinkPhone and I hope a few more of you give it a chance.

It's actually $449 right now! No reason not to get one for that money. howl.me/ckiVp0pbSHa (Affiliate Link)
There's a $10 off coupon for over 100$ too PLUS 5% off for students vets teachers ems!! I just ordered it for $417 plus tax
$399 on Amazon right now for Pre-Black Friday Sale.
@@mitchellwest4205 omg I'm returning mine to Lenovo then
Back up to $530 on Amazon now, hope some folks snagged a deal.
@@mitchellwest4205 Motorola site still has it for 399 as of last night
Oh, but you're wrong Steve. Best phone that I DID buy! Love this phone! Keep talking it up. So under-rated!
Yep, had mine for a few months now. By far the best phone for my needs
How is the Battery 🔋 during the day ?
And is the screen brightness okay for outdoors ? 😃
@@nccapone344 One of the best batteries on any phone I've used. Standby time is excellent also. The screen is bright and readable outdoors, although not on the level of 2024 flagships (but that's no surprise).
Got it for $427.49 using the Slick Deals plugin. Got a very nice black case on Amazon for $9 and charging stand for $9. Flat screen and no glass back to break are great. Very light for such a large phone. Battery and charging speed are insane. Don't miss the SD slot because of the 256GBs. Camera seems good. Dual speakers sound great and are loud. Got three glass screen protectors for $7, have to learn how to put them on.
I was going to pick up it’s twin, the Edge 23. But at 399 today with the 68w brick. I’m in!!
Just got mine. I love the security features and the durable screen and phone build. Kind of excited.
Great info, I just picked it up for $399.99 and honestly there is no phone you could buy that is better at that price. As an IT Network guy this phone is the a true IT guy phone. The security features on this phone are excellent and user friendly.
Agreed! Love that they give us some security options back.
Got me all jealous
If it had microsd and headphone jack it wouldn't be a question. Also ww need bigger versions for people who have vision issues
@@nellatl headphone jack? Most high end mid range to high end do not include that. I am using the wired USB c air pods as a backup and it works great. Micro SD would be nice but at least for me not a deal breaker. Size ? 6.6 is perfect after all I want a phone not a Tablet but if they do a second one we will see.
I have been an iPhone user since iPhone 3G. I've tried Android and blackberries but I hated them and returned them or just didn't use them. This is my first Android phone I decided to keep. 😊
The ThinkPhone is one of the most underrated phones of 2023. Motorola and Lenovo did a fantastic job with this device. The cameras may not be the best, but it is not a dealbreaker if you use an actual camera. If they add a microSD card slot and stylus support on the next ThinkPhone, Samsung might be in trouble.
Yep, it's a really nice one!
@@joeyn.3567 That would be nice since Samsung needs some competition. If Motorola were to ever release a ThinkPhone 2 with stylus support, I could see this being a problem for Samsung. OnePlus may also be a threat to Samsung as the OnePlus 12 is shaping up to be the best OnePlus phone in years.
Stylus? You over 30 or somethin?
I have that phone and is marvelous! I don't need stylus and SD slot especially it have fast charger included in the box. I bought mine for 325£ , cannot complain. For me Samsung cannot compete with this price tag. I using s22, zfold 2, pixel 7a , note 10 plus 5gband z flip 3. They cannot compete with thinkphone, they left alone in drawer for now!
@@joeyn.3567I'm still disappointed how bad the Google phone experience has been for me...cheap built quality on the pixel pro
Man this looks good. If I didnt already have a Note 20 Ultra I would seriously consider picking one of these up. I'm a huge fan of the backing material, I hate glass and plastic phone backs. This looks like a modern version of the Droid RAZR Maxx HD
How is the note 20 ultra im looking to upgrade my xs which has terrible battery at 100% capacity
Battery is terrible on note 20 ultra. That's why im looking for a new phone while traveling
I agree, they revived the Razr Maxx HD. That was my favorite Razr. This thing is awsome. Battery for days.
I ordered mines though Amazon and about to go pick it up at the Amazon locker.
I picked one up for $427 on Lenovo by getting a quote sent to me. I've always loved Moto's software and this is an almost perfect phone to compliment it.
how did you get a quote sent to you? I got it for 417 with 5% student discount plus $10 off coupon from their website
Looking to upgrade my v30.. I'm thinking either pixel 7 or 8 or thinkphone. Size weight and comfort matter
Now it's $399 and I'm thinking of just pulling the trigger. I was going to get an S23 FE, but it stacks up poorly in many areas in comparison. If it still has 4 years of support, I'll get it.
I bought it, it's awesome.
Depending on what carrier your using you probably should have got the s23 Fe because it has it has more frequency Lynx with top carriers. that trumps any performance your phone has for if it's not frequency compatible your performance means s h i t. Go check out k i m o v i l
Been watching this phone for awhile now and decided to buy it.
As of Nov.17th on Motorola site $399 waiting for the delivery.
I have had Motorola phones for s long time, my current phone Ace one 5G is great and still works really well, after 2 yrs, however they promised Android 12, then cancelled that.
I was going to ditch Motorola, for a Samsung, but then read that Motorola is giving the Thinkphone a promise of 3 OS updating and 4 Security updates.
My Ace one 5G will get no more security updates, thus my reason to buy this one.
I should be good now for at least 4yrs. WHOO HOO😁
Lenovo also had a promo for an additional 20 off. I still got mine from Motorola. Of course Motorola now has burned me 3 times on their next day promise. Track FedEx, and it shows to be out for delivery the next day and at 6:00 it gets re-scheduled for the following day. Razr + = day late, Thinkphone= day late, repaired Razr+ = day late.
I had been looking at this phone for months and finally pulled the trigger. Man let me tell ya, this thing kicks butt. I kept seeing reviews about the camera being a major weakness in this device, but my experience has been pretty good overall. I convinced a buddy of mine to do a side by side comparison in camera quality against his iPhone 13 Pro. We took pictures indoors, outdoors and even a few at night. We were shocked at how well this phone held up. You're getting a beautifully designed, durable phone with great performance at an unreal price. Just buy it!
Yeah my camera seems fine and the battery is awesome
The phone proves that we actually don't need those overrated cameras that make phones expensive
No headphone Jack
@@alfredooliva5175That ship has sailed, brother.
BUT
We don't have to cave in and buy their stupid Bluetooth nonsense.
Get yourself a Headphone Jack to USB C adapter and you're set. Some of them are really tiny and not cumbersome at all.
Totally agree with you i have this phone and its just a masterpiece it's a killer phone.
Please don't forget to add that this phone has Google screening calls natively! So that a cherry on top of the cake of this beast!
I think all Motorola phones by default use the Google dialer. Even my One Hyper from 4 years ago has it, so it's not really unique to this phone.
It's a fantastic phone. I picked one up earlier this year with zero regrets.
This phone's camera performs very well (not perfect but better than a lot of the competition even at the price I purchased it).
My only complaint is the android update they pushed out in the last week means that now once I hit the unlock/wake up button it takes between 1 and 6 seconds to turn on.
Picked up this phone today at Motorola BF at $360 minus 12% cash back from rebate site and 5% Paypal credit card rebate. At $325 after taxes, this is a steal that I couldn't pass up! Can't wait to try it! Upgrading from an old Samsung S10+, so I expect to be blown away.
How is it?
@@edward3361just upgraded to it from a google pixel 4a, it feels much more premium and definitely performs as much compared to the other phones I could get at the 400 price range. This is definitely a steal
Gotta wait 2 weeks but I'm excited for this
They got rid of peek display. Just got it, it updated a few times and then the feature disappeared. So now it's a little less Moto and a lot more iPhone (without AOD). That's a big moto fail.
Educator discount. After taxes mine was about 400. I got 2! I have other motos that I absolutely love. Can't wait to get this phone.... Coming in next week.
My first mobile phone was a motorola way back in 1999. It had WAP!
Lol, love it.
I just bought at 359 using coupon code. You talk about not using a case. If dropped don't you get scratches on camera and frame if dropped?
Would you trade in a Samsung S21 Ultra for this phone? I have a Pixel 7 also for camera use, love the Pixel's camera and software. I haven't had a Motorola for awhile.
I don’t know much about the phone but if I need a new phone I’d be tempted but you know I’m gonna wait for the Galaxy S 24 coming up in a couple months
I just bought one, jumping from the Pixel 7 Pro. Can't deal with the crappy efficiency anymore.
If I was still on the Android side this would be a damn tempting device for the money. I've been looking for a good replacement for my OnePlus phones and I like what I've seen from your coverage of the ThinkPhone.
Pretty good deal for what you get.
Question: Does it have a LED Notification Light? Like older phones.
Does this phone have any call features to filter out call scammers like Google does or can Google call assistance be installed 🤔
Hard to give up the sd card. I understand people like cloud storage, but i have a hard time not having physical possession of my stuff.
Got the think phone to replace my Moto g7 play. Think phone is light years ahead of it! It is super fast. It was so easy to set up. Just charged it up. Used the cable that comes with it for the 68watt charging brick. Pluged that into my old phone to new Think phone. It transfered everything over. Then put my SIM card that was in my old phone into it. Bingo! Up and going! Loading and scrolling is pretty much instance. Works just exactly as you would want it too. Last thing, I had tons of photos and videos on a SD card in my expandable SD card slot in my g7play. What didn't transfer over during the initial set up. ( Very few) I was able to down load. With the help if a 8 dollar SD card adapter that plugs into the usb c charging port. Think phones have 256 GB memory built in. After put everything in it. Including the memory needed for the operating systems. I use 41 GB. I don't think ill ever use up the remaining 215 GB.
Ordered but came open box. Not sure how their fulfillment can even ship the product when the seal on the box is very clearly broken. All Customer Support suggested is to go through the trouble to return it, and then reorder. Of course, not going to order again after this experience.
Can you explain any details on the Android version it's running 13 the current version is 14.
My question is... Can i use it with my freestyle libre 3 ?
To anyone who has it... Does it have call screening under the settings of the Google. Dialer app?
If Motorola was consistent in supporting their devices it would be a totally different story. They have an inconsistent record. Although I will say, that is not the case with this device. A SD card slot would have made a huge difference. I don't doubt Motorola. They are quite capable of making good and great devices. It's definitely a business oriented phone.
FYI, this phone has received monthly security updates consistently so far. It's currently on October and has been getting them every month so far.
@@jordanweingarten6210 did you actually read my whole comment or just the first sentence? You just wasted 5 minutes of your life.
@@chickenandshrimp1338 yes I did, if you were clear I wouldn't have commented.
@@jordanweingarten6210 or maybe you're not good at reading and understanding. It's a business oriented phone. Obviously it has to receive updates for "business" security purposes. 🙄 You can't say the same for the rest of their phones. I have the Razr flip. Still sitting on the July update. Shove off.
@@chickenandshrimp1338 for someone that was concerned about me wasting my time you're not worried about wasting your own, lol.
Please do a follow up to the Razr Plus❤❤❤
Just ordered $324 from Motorola for that price this phone is a steal. Great performance, amazing battery life, nice screen, and hopefully a few years of updates!
I just ordered this up for $359! Can't wait to use it.
Great deal!
I debated on this phone and the edge Plus 2023 and went with the plus because they're about the same price at the time and it had more storage
Don't care about the camera or anything. Or even battery like that much. How's game performance?
Hey , what watch are you wearing in this video ? Is it a hybrid smart watch ? 😊
Yep, I think it was the Withings ScanWatch 2 I'm currently reviewing for Android Police.
I have been waiting on Motorola to make a phone with ready for and a snapdragon 8 or higher for a while. Thank you
It's $359.99 on the Motorola website, I guess for Black Friday
Maybe next year once it drops in price. I do want 1. I'm really getting into Lenovo. They really do have the best bang for your buck on almost all tech so i found out. I know i love the laptops they sell.
Can you use a pair of 3.5mm earbuds with a usb c adapter?
So i bought the think phone and things i have noticed. RUclips videos arent super clear, compared to my pixel 7 i pkayed the same video side by side and the pixel was better. Also photos seemee to be better overall on the pixel, but i have taken some nice ohotos on the think phone. I wish the cameras were better!
Do you realize its just an Edge reskin. I assume they also removed some of the more "fun" things since its for business.
In Portugal is 800 to 900€. Too expensive vs the competitors. Maybe if drops price in Black Friday.
yeah the price range is so shit
Completely agree that Motorola did a poor job in communicating about the availability of this phone. Like you mentioned I thought that this was only available through a special order or for business/enterprise. If I knew that I could get this (Especially since a 512 GB model was available) this would have been my next phone absolutely.
Can you take an eSIM?
After watching your reviews, I picked this up on a Black Friday deal for $399. I think its a good replacement for my aging OnePlus 7T.
Is $359 right now at Motorola website
How do you like it compared to the 7T such as cameras etc? I'm also considering. If it weren't for some annoying quirks with the 7T (bad proximity sensor, screen turning on during calls) and other stuff, I would keep it because it still performs great otherwise.
How does this compare to the moto g84 5g?
I hate how accurate this title is. It looks great....but I want the screen & extra ram of another phone $150 more. I'm just hoping they release a Thinkphone 2/3 by the time I'm ready to upgrade again. Could y'all please buy more of these for my sake? 🙏
Anyone know if it has dual SIM? It looks like no - the description says single SIM slot and no mention of eSIM. It's a steal of a deal as it is!
i did a side by side on phone arena and it showed dual nano, now seeing the single sim description after my purchase yesterday.. fingers crossed it is dual because i hate carrying my work phone and personal all the time and forwarding is not an option.
Why in hecks name do these cost £899 in the UK (1,149.99 US Dollars) ?
Great video
I bought this phone and honestly, it's fine, but the battery doesn't last as long as they say. It didn't give me more than 5 hours of screen time, and it heats up a lot just by watching RUclips or browsing the internet. and charging it with te stock charger it overheat too. a deception
charging with a fast charger 68w LOL IT GETS HOT DUH.
I bought one over the super expensive s23.. saved 500.00. great phone (bought at 360)
Well as someone who has been a "life long" Motorola user i didn't even know this phone was a thing. Now that i have watched your video and a few other reviews. Im buying one.
It's excellent!
I assume I can use a VPN to buy at this price for delivery in the UK.
Good question, I can't imagine why not.
Would It be smart move if I traded my S21+ 8/128 for the thinkphone 8/256?
Tough call at this point, battery life will be better but screen and camera might be a touch worse.
No dont do it. The flagship Samsung experience is still safer and better polished than this. Wait for next years Think Phone and decide from there.
Today I ordered my Thinkphone off eBay £380 I have been lucky. I have been trying to get one for a while as this phone still retails between £600 to £900 in the UK. I am over the moon.
No headphone Jack
This is a solid phone
399 on Amazon now
That is a great phone but Moto update policy is why I bought Samsung again after a budget Moto 6 Play. It was a €149 phone I used for almost four years 😅
Cheapest I could find where I live is 765 usd without tax, but most retailers have it for 850. Would be a no brainer for 450 but not here in Europe I guess.
Did you go on motorola website?
@@johnathanscott8009 They only have specs on the regional website, the EU site says free shipping on the top of the page but I can't see any prices or anything. I guess they only sell through retailers here. German amazon also has prices around 760€.
It's a shame as this is the best phone I've found for my needs. I work in construction and anything with a plastic frame bends and cracks on me eventually.
I can't have a nice device because I know I will thrash it within a year with all the dust and drops.
I've been using a very cheap Doogee for almost 3 years now, held up great so far but it's starting to show it's age. Works okay but the camera is terrible, the gps never worked perfectly, and software support is pretty much nonexistent at this point. This sure would be an upgrade, but almost 800€ is a bit steep, unless I get a good 4 years out of it.
On sale again this week (12-4-23 to 12-10-23) $369 w/free 2-day shipping (USA).
It’s just a rebadged edge+
I love my Razr+, other than it restarted for no apparent reason at all the other day. Then after it came back on, it ran hot for an hour. I wasn't doing anything. Thought maybe it was downloading an update but it wasn't. It hasn't done it since.
Just got mine for $399 on the Motorola website

I'm so use to my old Z4
I have been an iPhone user for a decade. Now I love this one.
It's 399.9$ on Motorola now
do you think this phone will hold for at least 3 years?
Yes. (Replying from my 4+ year old Moto Z3.)
@@jjt2me Thats a lot! thanks for the reply!
The camera island looks like a Redmi Note 12.
You cannot find it at a decent price in eastern europe.
FYI, this is missing band 71 for lte and n71 for 5g for T-Mobile :(
I thought I saw n71. T-Mobile is an issue with moto devices though. Att and Verizon work best.
So I just was looking at the spec sheet on Moto's site for this phone and it does state band 71 for both 5g and lte! Sorry! I was going off of what GSMArena has listed on their site.
This or the new edge 2023 for $349?? (cant find reviews on that)
This. I did the review of the Edge for Android Police that comes out soon. It's good but this is better.

You can have all the security and safety features you desire but it still does not take away from the fact that they threaten to REMOTE LOCK your phone if you do not turn in your old phone for the trade in ?? When I saw this on the Lenovo web site while browsing to possibly order one I began to think if they have remote access to lock the phone what other access do they possibly have ???
What they almost surely mean is that they block your IMEI number, which is the same thing they and your phone carrier can do when your phone is lost or stolen. It's not in any way a backdoor or remote access.
Currenrly using a Moto G Power (2020) and can vouch for durability and reliability. May still be on Gingerbread, but hey.
I seen the new version for 50$. I should have grabbed 1. I love moto
Can find these brand new for under 400 dollars in 2024, which is what the mediocre Samsung A35 lists at. Still a no brainer if you shop around for a smart deal. I actually just ordered a new one for $360 even though I don't really need another phone, it's just always been extremely tempting to me for some reason. I think I'm gonna run it caseless and just tempt fate.

S23 has a better camera + processor, but smaller battery
Think phone or Razr for $499?
ThinkPhone
Sd card? Headphone jack? Basic features?
This is still the best bang for buck phone to date. Especially if you dont care about the camera not having optical zoom.
If I thought I could get 5 years out of it, I would consider it.
I bought it and if you bought a Pixel 7a, Samsung A/FE…you’re missing out. Sure there’s some hiccups but on the whole for 399 currently on Amazon…don’t walk run! Best Moto since the OG Moto G/X
Definitely a really good phone for the price!
Thank you for doing this review.
Do you have an email address where one could contact you?
I wanted to buy one, but Motorola did poor job advertising on phone information and what comes with it. Especially as it was $999 and knowing Mototorola only gives max 2 years support, if that. I said no. I bought the 2020 Moto Edge phone, beautiful and loved it, but they dropped the last update under the 2 year guarantee and skipped it, which pissed me off at Motorola. Edge Plus got it, not just Edge. After 2 years, ok, under 2 years thats a no no.
I think they will do the same on this phone, even if they say its 4 years updates. That probably mean 2 os updates and security updates after that and drop support before 4 years is up. Let's not be like Microsoft Lenovo/Motorola. I think Motorola can't even change their diapers, without Lenovos approval.
I hope they make a ThinkPhone 2 next year and advertise the info properly, put in good 3 camera system, 50mp main, 50 wide and 50 3x optical zoom and 4 years full updates, then they may sell a lot of them at full price and even more after price drop. You need to Match what Google offers, if your selling near their price, match OnePlus specs at min. Keep security suite and PC connection etc. I will buy one.
Would be great if it had sd, ip68, headphone jack, side finger print reader and a stylus.
Someone please make that phone ffs
I got ot for $399, I love it. I don't think the camera is horrible. Is it loke the iPhone? No. But it doesn't cost as much as the iphone. It is freaking fast as hell too.
Exactly!
I wonder why t-mobile hasn't got it they do is try sell older phones foe the same price as new one s21 fe 599 s23 fe 599 🤔 I see you Steve. ❤
I don't think Moto had a lot of carrier deals, or else I'm sure they would!
