I’m glad that the air suspension is not on the lower models… expensive and unreliable over time to fix and replace.
As for the lack of a spare, from what I read on mdx forums type s owners are just buying the emergency tire kits from the non type s models and putting that in the back?

  • @springertube
    @springertube 3 месяца назад +1

You don't need the same size tire for the spare..... yes you want to have the same exact size (width) for extended driving, certainly high-speed etcetera.... but in terms of getting you down the road and to a more proper replacement, it just needs to be the same overall diameter (what most laypeople think of as "height," top to bottom)... other companies have recognized and done that... lame excuse on Acura's part. You don't even need to have the same diameter wheel, as long as the brakes clear on whatever your spare wheel is. I wonder if there are still securement points under there (like the Non type S) that are just blank, where you could put a spare from the regular Non Type-S model?
Edit: Comparative rubber-band 21s seem a bit much on this. Just on principle, I would put the 255-width 20s from the Advanced, Technology Etc, trims, or even 19s from the base, all around and give up 3% in the handling to get a more compliant ride running on regular (non-run flat) tires, and of course as a bonus put a spare from the regular set up in there if there are fitment points that work.

It's a really competitive segment premium/luxury three-rows. Personally, I find the gas mileage to be unacceptable for a Honda/Acura vehicle in 2025. Honda used to rule the fuel efficiency game roost and, I'll bet that this one won't even get that not so good EPA number. I like the plug in TX 550h+ and a usable third row (I'm not driving Munchkins around) and the 29mpg across the board. For me, that is the winner in three rows currently. Sure it's about $6K more than MDX type S but it seems like more for more to me. Oh, if you are planning to track your three row SUV then this might be your ride.

We have the regular V6. I’ve gotten the advertised 25 MPG on the highway one time, and it was on break-in so I was babying it. I’ve had no problem matching EPA MPG #’s in all my prior vehicles driving “normally”. If the 25 highway was achievable without babying it, though, it would be good enough for me.

Acura keeps saying that they are going straight to EVs and skipping hybrids.
I think they’re going to regret it thanks to how the market is now.
But then again the Pilot doesn’t have a hybrid option either

I found a 2012 MDX for $10,000 with only 175,000 kms. Same 3.5 V6, all buttons and a shifter. I would so get that one if I needed a three row suv.

Have they fixed the weather mats that slide around and jam the rear hatch, and the keyless entry that fails while still under warranty and they refuse to fix, but will happily replace the fob battery for $38. I also love the thin plastic feeling steering wheel right out of an Impala. Also battery drain while parked and the pressed steel wheels for the winter tire package on a “luxury”vehicle?

1:00 Cheap looking grills, terrible color and wheels for a $70k+ crossover
3:00 Terrible MPG relative to competition; LATE to touchscreen game
    4:55 Should’ve kept the ELS
    9:20 3rd row is a joke
    10:10 Cargo is a joke
Lexus TX will eat into MDX sales for sure. Much better buy.

Why should they have kept the ELS? Acura says the new system has better accuracy, improved surround sound and better range than the ELS it replaces.

There’s going to be a price hike due to B&O, and 30 speakers means higher probably of one or more of the speakers going bad, as opposed to say a 20 speaker system. ELS was awesome, tuned just right with enough speakers. Acura stopped innovating, (no hybrid, no RWD based architecture, pairing with GM for EV lol) unlike Lexus and Genesis. So smart consumers will look at Lexus or even Toyota (Grand Highlander) for their 3-row needs. They don’t care about B&O and 15+ way power seats and abysmal MPG due to “high performance” like some of the dumb soccer dads lol.
