Levi; I live 30 miles from (1) hanging Rock State Park. I've done the Moore's Knob trail maybe 3 times a year. It's 67 miles to (2) Stone Mountain. I did Stone Mtn every other week this past summer; just couldn't get it out of my mind. It's 100+ miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Boone, NC area. There is a trail there I would like to suggest for you. Name is Boone Fork Trail. 4.9 miles, but do it a day or two after it rains because the trail is along side water streams (with good water pools/falls) going down stream; then turns back around to go against several smaller streams as they flow down to join the larger streams. Roughly 30+ small stream crossing on the return side of the trail. Totally agree with 1,2,4 and 5 places you suggested.
My husband and I had planned a hike to the SM in 2020 for our 20th anniversary, but had to cancel when our world shutdown. We are planning the week long hiking adventure again and definitely will be adding some of these on the list. Happy hiking from Vermont
Check out Rocky Face Mountain in Hiddenite, NC, home to the annual “Vertical Mile Challenge.” it’s basically Stone Mountain’s little brother- you go right up the rock face in a similar fashion.
I went to Stone Mountain yesterday. It was great. This video is great. Moores knob is great. I am going to have to check out the others you have mentioned.
Do the Profile Trail. It's awesme. I did it in November one year. There was snow and ice for the added difficulty. When we got to the parking lot at the swinging bridge, the trail was closed if you hiked from that direction. Got a hitch back down the mountain to the truck.
Very cool! Never been to Stone Mountain in NC, and now I want to go! There is one in Georgia, but it is a tourist trap. What kind of camera are you using to film? Now following 634!
That plane crash looks just like the one on Grandfather Mountain. I went to Grandfather twice last year. Once hiking from the swinging bridge, the other time Daniel Boone Scout trail. If you do that one I recommend taking the detour and doing Cragway trail at least on either the trip up or down. I am also with you on Stone Mountain. That hike was awesome too.
Ty for the info. Gonna try Moore’s Knob first, then work my way down list👊 Considerations to mention: Any specific parking areas to consider? Some hikes have more than one spot to park. Possibly show a map TY
I've made a video in the Roan Highlands, and I do agree that it's very beautiful. Probably would be on this list, but I went there after filming this video lol
It's not in North Carolina but very close. Grayson Highlands/ Mount rogers area in Virginia is my favorite place for hiking and backpacking. If you want to do car camping, Linville Gorges old nc 105 has plenty of free car camping sites and plenty of day hikes from that side of the Gorge.
Unfortunately on June 27th 2023 the NPS removed the remains of the crashed plane. I did this hike in May 2015 and at that time I had no clue the plane existed so therefore I hiked past the side trail not knowing, I kick myself in the a$$ for not researching and knowing it was there. I had intentions of returning but kept putting it off and then I see on the news of a helicopter flying it out and placing it in a trash/construction bin at the parking lot, at that time I knew I waited too long. That being said...there is remains of a plane crash on Grandfather Mountain just below the summit of Calloway Peak. It's about 20 or 30 yards off of Daniel Boone Scout Trail adjacent to Raven's Roost Campsite.
Dang bro you seem like a good dude. I appreciate the video, definitely going to try these out when I get the chance to travel to NC. What a lovely state.
I've been to two of your top hikes. Stone Mt. and Grandfather Mt. Both are a definite must hike! Hope I can visit your other 3 choices soon!
Definitely recommend them!
Great choices for your top 5! Definitely some of the most beautiful hikes in NC.
Thankyou I'm glad you enjoyed!

@@LeviSpangler So, when is Caden gonna post again?
I would hope soon, but his craft takes time and effort.
Fantastic presentation bud, places are literally breathtaking! Love it!🔥👌
Thankyou I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@LeviSpangler hey how many miles would you say or guess it is from the swinging bridge to Calloway peak?
I believe it's 2 miles to Calloway peak from the bridge.
@@LeviSpangler I was asking a real question lol
That is a genuine answer. lol, the entire trail there and back is 4.1 miles
I think I should hike in North Carolina one day. Thank you for the inspiration Levi ;)
Thankyou for watching!
I’m currently planning a hiking road trip with my dog to head down to North Carolina! This video is super helpful. Thank you so much!

I've been there a few times on my channel. It's definitely one of the best fire towers in NC
This was a well done video man.
Thank you!

Thanks for the follow! I use the Canon eos rp.
Great video! Grandfather Mountain looks like so much fun, might be a little too difficult for the city boy :(
Thanks man! Its difficult but worth it

Hey Levi, nice video. Just a heads up. The forest service removed the plane at water rock knob.
Yea, I heard about it. As much as it sucks it was probably for the best.
Brother you gotta cross over into Tennessee and backpack Roan Mountain, it has to be the most beautiful hike I've done in the east.
I've made a video in the Roan Highlands, and I do agree that it's very beautiful. Probably would be on this list, but I went there after filming this video lol
@@LeviSpangler I gotta go watch that video now!
Do the profile trail at GF
Any good suggestions for a weekend with some camping involved? Thinking like an AT-lite LOL

in case ya aint heard. the plane at waterrock knob has been removed in late june
Yea, I heard about that. Bummer, but I kinda agree why they did it. If I knew it wasn't a designated trail, I wouldn't have promoted hiking there.
@@LeviSpangler apparently people kept getting lost on the mountain too

they removed the plane from browning knob :(
I know. Rip
Great commentary, thanks for sharing. Next time more trail video and less of your face! LOL

Thanks, man! I definitely recommend exploring more of the state, too!
