I always made my kids' Halloween costumes and party decorations. I made their Valentine's boxes, their 100 Days' projects, and helped them with every school project they ever had. I am an actual artist, so I had a little bit of an advantage over some people, but good at art or not, it meant a lot more to myself and both of my kids, that I was involved. One year for Christmas I made them Harry Potter kits. I decorated a decent sized box for each, made them invisibility cloaks, plastic glasses with tape on the bridge, tiny stuffed owls that I rolled up parchment paper and stick to their legs, wands, etc. Anyone could have made that, and the supplies cost me $42 total for both. They still have those kits and they're special to them because I made them, and I couldn't have bought things to fill that box that would have meant more to them. I'm terrible at decorating cakes but I still did it every year for boh of them. Parents need to realize that hands on projects are far more meaningful to kids than some stranger coming in and doing everything. They might not know at 1 what their parents did, but when they look back at photos and see how much their family cared, and how much work and care their parents put into their birthdays, that will mean way more than "grandma spent $1000 on a party I don't even remember." That being said, though, if someone has the money and chooses to spend it that way, that's their own decision.

best way to cut corners is to DIY bc 9x/10 discounted service = lower quality. the plaintiff should’ve put more effort into the hiring process, or did it herself if she was so particular. my family “makes” the easier personalized treats & orders the rest. It’s not how much you spend, but how you spend it.

My daughter was born at 32 weeks and is having her 1st birthday party on Saturday. She was in the NICU for 6 months and ended up having to get a trach AND g-tube and I find it ridiculous to spend this kind of money on a 1st birthday party. We are buying cocomelon decorations from amazon and are having a small get together. Like the judge said, that money should’ve gone into a savings account. NOT a first birthday party. It’s just really unnecessary and irresponsible because I guarantee no one has a college fund or any of the sort set up for the baby yet..

This defendant was not ready for hire. She overlooked what the judge said which in my estimation meant a lot more for her when she described the competition part. That's what she wants!
And if her skill set was on point she would make the money from that competitive idea by delivering the goods.
My younger cousin has been doing party tables for years and what the defendant has done (based on this video) is the bare minimum and substandard.
The mermaid should have been a deliverable item or else she shouldn't advertise with it.
In real estate, You cannot sell a house using certain items that help them sell in the description without giving it up when the house is purchased. I received a beautiful refrigerator many years ago that way. It was a state-of-the-art refrigerator that was before its time. The old owner wanted to keep it but my sharp realtor who knew the law..
Selling cars with special effects/add-ons is another example of luring a customer for the business. When a business person does this they have to deliver.
