- Sitting in the studio during the take of “Miles Away / Brave” was stunning. The presentation, power, and warrior-like cries from their vocalist, Stefanie Mannaerts, was so visceral. It pulled from something deep and primal within all of us, and channeled it through the three members of Brutus.
When asked about this, they respond quite plainly: it’s about hanging out with your friends, being yourself, and having fun.
Such a simple idea from one of the most recognizable sounds in modern rock and metal music. Undeniably, Brutus is a force to be reckoned with, both in presentation and execution. Drumming and singing has been done before, but never like this. And when bolstered by the melodic guitar stylings of Stijn Vanhoegaerden and the huge bass tones of Peter Mulders, it feels as if 12 people are playing instead of 3.
Attending their performance that evening, it was clear how commanding of your attention this band is, while being shrouded in darkness with nearly no front-lighting whatsoever. And yet you can’t look away. It feels like watching 3 ancient deities perform music from the heavens, but it’s really just Stijn, Peter, and Stefanie having fun together.

Brutus was my favourite accidental discovery of last year. Their album from LAST year is still my favourite album of THIS year. Cannot stop listening to it + never will. Timeless + haunting tunes

Discovering bands like this makes me feel that there are still people out there writing good music. Great performance and songwriting!
I’ve found some good music of late from bands I never knew existed. Brutus is probably my favorite though.
I discovered brutus while serching for bands and artists in the "fans like this too" part of Spotify of the band King Woman. I discovered Dust and I thought "oh my god I have to be really careful to don't miss this one in live" because I hate when it happens so I checked their tour dates and they were playing three days later in my home city in France so I came back to see my parents and I bought tickets to discover it live.
It was the fastest from nothing to extreme important music artists in my life and probably one of the best show I've ever seen.
Brutus and Baroness would be such a great double show.

holy shit. I have never heard of this band until right now and Im so blown away. Its like a combination of all my favorite things in music. 3 piece rock bands, Female vocals, post hardcore/rock vibes and DRUMMER VOCALISTS. incredible
Brutus rules, the more people who find out about them the better, all 3 of their albums rule and they kickass ass live, their live in Ghent show is incredible.

I am so jealous of the Benelux post metal scene. As an outsider looking in, no other area in Europe has that kind of energy, cohesion and consistent innovative quality coming out.

Victoria really throws me back to the very early 2000’s and the nostalgia is so bittersweet, it’s time travel for me with a gut punch and a sting in the heart. I love this band so much. Every time I tell the universe I need new music, something that makes me excited and gives me the fire to get through, it answers via RUclips’s algorithm. EVERY time. This band popped up when I needed life. So grateful. Hope to see them live. 🖤⚡️🤘🏽🔥🗡️🛡️

I gotta confess.. The first time I heard Brutus, it was their first album , i wasn't impress. A good friend of mine told me about them and I was like "Meehh.. they're Ok I guess". Until i caught them live, opening for Thrice in Amsterdam.. and man, I was blown' away. Literally. Turned to my friend at the gig and yelled: "Holy shit! This is really good!!" and he laughed so hard. It's been an amazing ride for Brutus. Keep it up!

Brutus! My new absolutely favorite band. They popped up on my RUclips suggestions and I was instantly amazed. I just sat there mesmerized listening to every song I could find. I then found they will be in Seattle in April '24, immediately bought a ticket and ordered a shirt off their website! All in the span of about 2 hours!😂❤
Every time I listen to Unison Life I have a new favorite song. Their sound is so MASSIVE they sound more like a 3-piece orchestra than a band. They are like a force of nature, like a storm, like a pack of wolves on the hunt, like thousands of naked warriors running over the hills toward the battlefield. The first time I heard them my friend played me “Cemetery” and my immediate thought was ‘this is the only music I want to listen to from now on’. They have a PERFECT sound. Stijn really does sound like 2 or 3 guitarists, he’s amazing. Peter and Stefanie are absolutely propulsive as a rhythm section, they’re like a freight train, and Stefanie’s voice is so devastatingly gorgeous she brings me to tears with every vocal flourish. I can’t wait to see them live. Thank you, Brutus, and thank you, Audiotree. Dank u wel

Stephanie is so right, I’m fundamentally a metalhead who mainly likes the extreme & progressive side of the genre. And since I discovered Brutus, 2 years ago, I fucking love them, their music and talent are true pleasures… but not at all guilty ones, I consider myself a proud fan of them. All 3 studio albums are masterpieces, but where they shine is live on stage, mind blowing performances!

I'm a metalhead for like 25 years and when I discovered Brutus like 3/4 years ago. I felt in love with the band immediately. They are wonderful and unique musicians !!!
One of the most hard-hitting and emotionally gut-wrenching bands you can experience live. If you get the chance, just go and see them. This band changed my life for the better
Such a magnificent band. Instrumentally, they create a rich sonic landscape, then add Stephanie's raw, very human vocals, Brutus grabs something deep within my soul.

a really great live set - it blows my mind how close to the recorded versions these songs sound. The vocals to me always act as this really strong emotional lasso almost that pulls everything together and the NOTES she can hit while playing drums is still just mind blowing. thanks for sharing and thanks to Brutus for the killer set!
I saw Brutus live at a festival over the summer and they absolutly killed it. This band is amazing! So glad to see them on Audiotree.

This has to be the greatest rock band operating at the moment. It's such a shame that rock is so underappreciated culturally so bands like this aren't given the fame that they deserve.

I flew from North Carolina to Prague to see them. Brilliant life experiences!
Brutus has been one of the bands that I at first didn‘t like but then it „clicked“ and I felt the emotion in the song effecting me. They grew on me and I adore them as a band that has had a huge influence on my own guitar playing and song writing.
I saw them live last year in 2022 as part of a mini festival and they were the most real, humble and down to earth band. They carried out their own equipment to the stage, no roadies.
During a new unreleased song from the new album they fucked up so they apologised and restarted the song. It was a moment of realness that the other bands, a death metal and black metal didn‘t had IMO.
At the time I had my own band and we hadn‘t played yet and when I saw the two other bands I thought to myself that my band can never be like them. They were like robots playing to a click and with IEMs.
But when Brutus played I thought these guys and girl are just like us, we can be like them. They are on the stage to have fun and play music with each other.
I will always remember this moment.

Was happy with my live sketch, and the small bits at the end of talks and sketch and vinil signing was really amazing. Loved this people. Great spirit and awesome vibe. I just saw them playing in Milano one week ago. Stunning performance with awesome vibes, in an unexpected intimate atmosphere.
There should be a lot more skilled bands like them, but we all probably would not appreciate so much this kind of spectacular music performances.
