  • A short review of the Spring Break Powder Racer 157, a soft, floaty, powder party board. The hype is real folks, this is a sweet board.

    Generally riding as fast and hard as possible in natural terrain. Big, long, high speed turns. Powder, chunder, groomers, and natural airs. If a board is really surfy, I can be persuaded to slow down and spend some time slashing around. Not spending much time in the park.
    Most of our laps are provided by our Drift boards in the backcountry.

    I always liked the shape and specs of the this board and when they finally added a smidge of camber i grabbed one for last year. Im in Tahoe so it was a great time for this board to come into my life. I was nervous about how soft it was & it had more rocker than anything I'd usually choose. This board blew me away as my resort pow board, I found the board. It created a riding experience I didnt know existed... this springy surf style, kinda like riding a soft top fish. I'm not sure theres a better tree board out there that has somewhat of a tail still. Its super forgiving too for just getting weird and progressing pow butters. One other thing that was a pleasant surprise was that It rips through spring moguls, and in general a super fun spring board... duh its a Spring Break

      Yep. I haven't used it in the springtime stuff yet but everything else you described I agree. The only downside for me is if the snow gets rough and you're coming in hot, it gets scary. But that's not a bad thing, just a tradeoff. Not ever board needs to be a burly bomber.

    Thanks for this! Always had this board in the back of my mind for width and float in low angle trees. Tbh, I would probably go with Special Effects for this type of quiver board but still sounds fun!

      Will be trying the special effects soon so will be an interesting comparison but this one has been a pleasant surprise.

    Best board i have ever ridden. Only thing it doesn't do well for me is icy hardpack. Floats like a dream. Nimble in the trees. Once you figure it out, it will absolutely charge everything. Just lean back and let the nose smash out anything in front of you. I ride this board 90% of the time now, even park.

      Thanks for your thoughts! A lot of the time I like something that’s a little hard charging, but I can believe you for sure on using it all the time. It’s got a great flex and feel. I was stoked by how awesome it felt in the pow.

    Hey man - love your videos... I just managed to pick one of the 2024 models up in a 157 for an ABOSOLUTE bargain... The problem is, I'm 220lbs... what would be your take on me being that much over the boards recommendation? I do have other boards for other uses (Yes Standard Uninc, Yes Hybrid, Weston Japow, Solomon HPS Wolle Nyvelt Fish), but just want to know from someone with experience on this board their opinion.

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  Месяц назад +1

      Assuming the dimensions work okay with your height and shoe size, I think you’ll be fine. It might feel a little softer than intended but in my experience, powder is where you can get away with a broader range of flex. They don’t treat it as volume shifted but it is pretty wide for each size.

      @@Drift-Products I'm 6'0" and size 12 US boot - they dont share any info other than recommended weight so hoping it should be ok? I only ever get 2 weeks a year snowboarding so guess we'll have to wait until January to find out.

    Hi, I love your reviews as I think I got your riding style and I’m tall and light too. I’m 6.3, 180-190lbs and 13 boot size. Do you think this size would work good for me? And what about the new bataleon cruiser, which size would you recommend? Any other board recommendation/size will be great! Ty for your videos!

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  5 месяцев назад +1

      You could pull it off. Might be a tiny bit small for your boot size on the rear foot but otherwise solid. Bataleon cruiser in the 161, hovercraft 2.0 160 or 164, Cardiff Powgoda 162… those are some faves off the top of my head. If you can, I’d get the Powgoda. That thing is magic. The previous year graphics are on sale right now. Let me what you choose!

      I think you’d be okay. Especially on the Powgoda. Its wide. The Cruiser is great, the Powgoda is special. That’s the direction I would go!

      Now, I just got my new drifters to start with backcountry. Any area where I can find some trails in Utah? Or any app o web where I can find a guide about that to start exploring the area?

    Hi, many thanks for the great review! Just two questions: 1)this or the Burton Fish 3D and 2) 154 or 157 for me weighing 180 pounds (43,5EU and 180cms)?

      I’d go 57 for maximum float at your weight; but you could probably get away with either one. 54 if you want it more nimble in the trees. I’m the same weight but taller and bigger feet and I prefer the 57 for sure.

    I wish they would put a true sintered base on SB boards. The "Powder Drive" sintruded crap is kind of inexcusable for the price range of most of the SB range.

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  5 месяцев назад

      Ya it bugs me when brands cheap out on the base too. Unless the price reflects it.
