I am waiting your Pin Tonic review 😉
I like how Korua added the reverse setback inserts. "Set forward inserts"? 😂 I wonder if riding those inserts gives you less of that slow/pushy feeling and more of a centered/planing feeling. Its kind of like that with my Powder Racer. Man that looks like such a fun board to ride in wide open nipple deep. Thanks for the review! 👊
Agree with everything except #5. I might be a little lighter than you but I find that because of the width I can weigh my front foot in powder and get the board to plane up flat. Then it just flies. I also find it to be pretty fun on groomers, but this board has made me look like a kook getting off the lift. It just wants to do anything but go straight.
Great and detailed review.
another downside: pain in the ass to scrape the wax off the base with that banana shape. but who cares!!!
that thing is a boat! I'm waiting on your take on the Pocket rocket! That one is my dedicated board for the deepest of the deep days. so much fun
Have you tried mounting your front binding all the way forward and then mount your back? It might plane better in deep pow.
Great review Briggs.
Perfect for whatever😎
Great review. How do you like that Jones Mountain Surfer? I'm looking to grab a pow surfer and was considering that one.
Great review, appreciate it! How would you compare this to the Jones Hovercraft 2.0 ?
Totally different. Watch the review bro 😂
Dude, you have a Burton 3D Channel Surf on your left. Tell me you are doing a video on it. Ty! Edit: in a recent lib-tech video, hosted by Travis Rice about the Apex Orca, he makes an argument that if you ride powder, especially at higher speeds, you need to be more front-side positioned. He claims when the tail sinks, and you have too much weight in the back, it bucks you. What’s your take on that?
100% as soon as I get another big storm to give it a proper go!
@@Drift-Productslooking forward to your reviews on it. Btw, I edited my original post. Ty
Nm about my question in the original . I saw Travis’s video again, and the context was related more to the Orca…. Just ignore that question…
Hello I already own a Dart Plus 164 but found it at times struggle to float the deepest low angle powder in Hokkaido. I currently looking at Uberegg. Do you have any experience with that? How does it compare to Dart. Thanks
Uberegg review coming within the next few days! It floats better than the Dart. Just know it really only wants to be in the pow. But it floats as good or better than anything I've ever ridden.
What is your height, weight and board size?
Hey! Check out some of the full reviews on my channel and you can see my specs below each one. But I'm 6'3" 190 on a 164.
I rode this over a 2 day demo last spring. It was a super fun board in the slush. Rode the 154 and 57 and your on point to not size down too much on this one. I normally ride 158-160 for a daily and would get the 57. Keep up the great reviews
Thanks for adding your thoughts!
Great review! I’m 6’2, 200, and wear a size 12 boot in most brands. I ride similar to how you describe your riding style, is the 162 powgoda big enough for me?
Yes.
@Drift-Products would heel&toe drag be an issue? I ride the same angles and stance as you too
@@PrashantBhagavatula no, shouldn’t be an issue.
@@Drift-Products awesome, glad to hear it. One last thing- between this and the Korua Transition Finder, what would you recommend for all-mountain, chargey riding? 40/60 on-piste/off-piste
@@PrashantBhagavatula powgoda for a powder bias, TF for a carving bias. The TF is stiffer and more aggressive. But I like the powgoda better overall myself.
Basically a board that does everything but excels at nothing, right?
Yes, but that's kind of how a good all mountain board is. It actually excels a bit in the pow, and it excels at just feeling dang good. I'll give it that.
U like the Aesmo or grassroots better? I find the grassroots stuff is more fun and slashy off the backfoot.
Haven't ridden the Aesmo enough since I got it to really judge yet, but on first impression I think you're right. The Aesmo so far seems like it wants to be on faster and bigger slopes to come alive.
@Drift-Products yeah 100% i feel the Aesmo is very tracky in the front end to middle of the board. I have not got it in super steep terrain , traded it for a Konvoi round tail 143.
Seems like it fills a very similar role as the Dancehaul. Curious you say it isn't as volume shifted as it's only 1 mm narrower compared to the DH at the same size and even wider at the 161. Have you ridden the K2 Passport? Been thinking about getting either that or the Banked Country to add to my Dancehaul for a damp charger that's not overly demanding.
It is similar to the Dancehaul but I would say the same thing: they're just not that wide for "volume shifted" boards (for my with a size 12 boot.) I prefer the feel of this to the Dancehaul but it's got a similar vibe for sure. I'd probably lean Banked Country for damp charger over the Passport. The Standard Uninc and Aviator would also be awesome options in that vein.
@Drift-Products I also have a size 12 and do wish they were even wider but apart from the Pig series and the Stranda Biru, I don't know many that are. Tganks for the suggestions! I did demo the Aviator at an indoor slope and thought it was really nice. Wish it was a little more directional.
@@EssenceOfTrance I think brands know if they go too wide they loose potential buyers. But it's bad for those of us with big feet. The Party Wave is nice and wide, the Aloha Vibes from Amplid, the Telos Backslash... those are a few off the top of my head. The Flagship is about as close as you can get to a more directional Aviator, but for whatever reason it doesn't feel quite as awesome to me when charging the crud.
@Drift-Products Yeah I wish more brands do drag free models like Never Summer. Oh well, a 268 mm waist width is enough for most applications. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep those in mind if I ever get a new board, likely next season. 😆
Shred the gnar broski. ❄️🏂❄️
Google offered to translate, but I speak your language. Ride on!
This sounds like the closest board to what I’m looking for. Like you I’m a tall guy 6 4 195lbs sz 12 boot and have struggled to find something long enough (166 sounds great!) but not going to feel like a full on plank. If you already had your resort/park board sorted (I have a Bataleon funkink 162 been awesome) would you say the Tailgunner would compliment it well as a second board focusing on powder? Open to other suggestions but I think this is the best one I’ve seen yet. Nice to have found your channel, I’ve been watching it a ton the past week. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I think you would love this. Hard to beat for what you described.
@@Drift-Products Stoked! Thanks Brigham, what I was hoping to hear!
Changing lens on most brands is a ball ache. I dont know why they cant work out an easier system
agree.
Love my Dart!
amen!
My base is FAST AF....out of the packaging. Ridden last year. Then stored in garage. Still fast this season. Still not yet waxed.
Sincerely happy for you. I rode 80+ boards last year, and this one was definitely not in the fast base category. But it was fine. I wouldn't tell someone to stress about it at all.
I’ve been riding the Stalefish (157) since last season as my freestyle cruising ‘all-mountain’ board. Considering my only other board in the quiver is a soft, park board, I use the Stale for powder days with the bindings set back to the rearmost or middle if it’s not a super deep day. With my park bindings (Union Strata) I personally enjoy the surfy and playful feel when sending off piste, but it’s still stiff enough for me to lay down a trench on piste although I am considering some stiffer bindings for it to send the steeps and moguls on regular days. Is it the perfect board? No. Is it really fun for the right rider and super versatile? Absolutely.
That sounds about perfect use from my experience. It’s a fun board for what you described.
hey man! Im doing a full season in Niseko japan, i think this is the right board for the season as my only board. I'm 6foot and weigh 75kg. is the 160 the right size? Thanks for your time and loved the review man, all the best!
I think the Dart is a great option in Japan. 160 sounds good, I'd just follow their sizing advice on their website. They do a really good job. Have fun!
@@Drift-Products thanks man!!
Hey! Thanks for the amazing reviews! I’m looking for a pure dedicated powder dedicated board and a resort all day driver that can charge hard… What do you think of the combo Powgoda + surfari or CAPITA powder glider + surfari? Thanks!
Either of those would be awesome combos. Love the Powgoda and surfer. Will be getting on the Powder Glider for the first time as soon as it snows enough. Let me know what you go with!
I love my signal disruptor. Havent gotten to try my tailgunner yet
solid boards for sure.
Food for thought on volume shift from T. Rice linked below. I hear him, but he also isn’t over 6 ft tall. At 6’4” in boots myself the limitations of short fats are very real. ruclips.net/video/df6IpfPxeNc/видео.html
Ya that's good stuff, it's just the whole volume thing needs to take into consideration weight, height, foot size, and terrain. His point about how steep the terrain is really matters. I ride a lot of low angle, deep pow and it just takes a lot of board to stay afloat. Thanks for sharing.
Out of curiosity did you ride each board fully set back on inserts? Thanks for the vid, you should get kick backs from Cardiff
I don't. I try to test the boards as close to reference as possible, as I'm trying to eliminate variables and want to see how it feels the way it was "intended." In my personal riding, I will alter my stance location depending on conditions and the board I'm on. No kickbacks for me, gotta stay unbiased! My fondness for the Cardiff boards is legit.
Just got one. I cant wait
Nice. It's a gem.
Hey, Do you think i could get away with the 160 with a 10.5 boot as a resort freeride board, or would i have to go for a wide?
I think you'd be okay either way. My personal preference would be to go wider but you should be fine.
I have a 153 Dart that is my daily driver for work, mainly Colorado, Summit County resorts. I'm 6 2, 190lbs, prefer shorter boards with a narrow setback stance. Carves like a beast, eats chunder, fast and nimble in the trees and stable 50+ speeds. Love jibbing with it too. Floats through powder and turns quick on moguls. Definitely a little heavy. Think size has a lot to do with it, and how comfortable you are with downsizing.
Thanks for your take. It would be fun to try a smaller one like that. I I can't imagine it would do as well in low angle Utah pow, but it would be rad in a lot of other ways. I ride a 152 Special Effects and enjoy it a lot of the time. I'm curious how long your legs are for your height as well. I'm all leg and really prefer a wider stance than most.
how to choose between warca and dancehaul?
I think the dancehaul is more popular in general, but I'll tell you I like the Warca so much more! The Warca is full camber, not very aggressive camber, but full. and it's got that Yes mid bite tech. I think the Warca is a little more stiff and aggressive. Overall, I'd do the Warca all day but that's just me!
What is the black board on your left next to the yes pyl?
That's a spring break powder racer next to the Standard Uninc.
I’m heading to whistler in two months. I’m researching boards. I’m interested in a powder board that does well in trees and carving. I’m looking at the dart, japow and gilson fly at the moment. I’m 5’7” 190lbs. Size 10 boot. Any suggestions? My personal thought is i want a smooth flowy carver that can keep up
I'd go dart for pow and carving. Pretty hard to beat. The new Storm Chaser is a great option too but won't carve quite as well as the dart. The elevated egg is pretty rad to for a similar but more chill ride. I'd take any of these over the Japan but the Japan is a solid option. haven't ridden the Gilson.
@@Drift-Productshave you ridden the stranda tree carver and stranda mackril? How does it compare?
@@coryrita9695 Sorry haven't been able to get on any Strandas yet. Bringing boards in from Europe is tough. I've made it to Amplid and Korua, but not Stranda yet.
I’m 170cm x 75kg x 28 mondo feet, which size do you recommend for me for a Japan trip 147 or 152 2025 version??? Some days we want to do backcountry with split and snow feet (🙋🏻♂️) and I want something super easy and very nimble into tree lines. I’ve got 148 Warpig, 151 super pig, 150 Orca and I feel comfortable with all of this boards. If you have some bards more appropriate for this kind of trip can tell me please
probably 147 unless you want it for the deepest days.
@ the capita powder racer could be a good cheaper option?
The powder racer is a lot of fun, but it's quite a bit softer. More chill.
How to compare with spring break powder glider???
I'll find out as soon as there's enough snow!
@ which are your best “tree boards”? I would go to Japan but I can’t decide which board I have to buy
Don't over think it. Lots of boards would be awesome. Storm Chaser, Special Effects, Sushi, Dart, Powder Racer, one of these boards vs. another is not going to change how much fun you have. Find one you like for a good deal and go for it.
Amazing.
Thanks!
do you plan on testing the stranda makrill this season?
Probably not. Only comes in one size and looking at the numbers I don't think it's big enough for me. I mean I'd be glad to ride it, it's not super small, but I probably won't spend the money to get one.
Hi Brigham, thanks for all the great reviews! I'm so torn between the 148 and 152, can you help me out with the sizing please? I have 11-11,5 Boots with Now Bindings in Large but weigh less than you (175-180) and also much shorter 5'10. Stance around 21. Really want the 152 for the float but am afraid that it will feel too much like a boat in the trees and on groomers (is it actually fun to carve this on good groomers?). For reference: I like volumeshifted Boards, have a Ride Warpig in 154 and had it it 151, they both work well for me. I tested the Korua Dart you reviewed, I prefer that in 156 than the 160, not for the width but the length combined with the stiffness made the 160 feel sluggish and slow outside of the powder. Thanks in advance for the help!
Good question. Where are you riding? How steep is it, how deep does it get?
@@Drift-Products thanks for the fast reply. Riding mainly in the Austrian Alps. Some resorts and a glacier can get pretty deep days but probably not as deep as you have in the US and Canada. I won't use it for very steep runs. Medium steep to low angle and some trees. Not sure how this board is for carving and if the size will make much difference. That would be a plus, since I have to do quite a bit of groomers to get from one pow run to the other.
How was the flex for you on the 152. Was it much softer than the Korua Dart you tried? It puts me right in the middle, looking at the chart from K2. If it's not too stiff than I might go for the 152.
The K2 is way more chill than the Dart. I think it'll be fine on the groomers but nothing too special if you're trying to really rail carves. My hunch would be go 152, but truth is you'd probably be fine on either. In my experience, I usually prefer my powder boards to be on the long side rather than short if I have to pick one or the other. I don't think it'll feel too stiff or be slow in the trees. The other option would be to go with something like the Storm Chaser, it's a similar board but it's not as wide. It's a touch stiffer and has a bit of camber under the back foot now.
Hello there, I bought the same 2022 version in 156. I havent ridden it in pow or even a proper groomer yet but from wet choppy snow experience of a soon opening mountain - I am exited
Awesome!
Nice
Thanks!
my 2 go pow boards: Korua Dart 164 and K2 Alchemist 157 🙌
Cheers! I'm a big fan of both. The Alchemist probably wouldn't make my favorite powder list, but it is a ripper. The Dart is up there for sure!
Pyl uninc 161 or Rome ravine select 166 for a daily driver with freeride focus? I have a K2 excavator 162 as my powder focused board. 6’3 215lbs 11.5 boots intermediate rider
hmm. Both are great, PYL Uninc might be a little too similar to your excavator... the Ravine Select would be awesome, the Standard Uninc or the Aviator 2.0 might also be worth a look if you want something a little less directional for the daily but still want to charge.
@ thank you for the input!
Hi, I noticed several jones snowboards behind you. And I’m just debating whether I should buy hovercraft 2.0 or this board you mentioned. What’s the difference of them in the pow? Would you give me some recommendations? Thanks for your video, love it
both equally good in the pow, the spring break is softer and more playful. Will be a little more turny in the trees. The Hovercraft is a board you can push a little harder when carving or in variable terrain.
Hi, great review ❤ Granted your experience of this board. With your specs Specs and Biases: 6'3", 180-190 lbs, size 11.5 boot, 23.5" stance. +18 -6 angles (usually.) I am ~6’2” (187 cm) about 182-185 lbs (82-83 kg) size 10.0-10.5 boot, roughly exactly the same stance as you 22,8” (58 cm) +18-6 Would the 159 feel too big for me? And I’ve read in some review that this board is heavy. What is your experience? Did you weigh it by any chance? Thanks for a great review and valuable input 🙏
I think 159 would be great, and no I didn't weigh it but it's not abnormally heavy. Wouldn't worry about that at all.
Think a 164 is right size for tight trees powder for a 185lbs 511 11 boot? Easy enough to slash around and make quick turns?
Ya it's still plenty turn even in a big size. You could probably get away with one size down too if it's wide enough for you.
I’m about 190 lbs 6’5, with a size 12 boot what size of alchemist should I get?
164w but make sure you want to charge. It's stiff and wants to go! I think the 159w would be a little too small but the 164 might be a little stiff for your weight.
Hey I haven’t ridden in Utah and I am wondering what hill you’re at on the review day. Thanks man. Jason
