Great video Capt! We use the slick here.. I bought some of the first ones when they came out and still have a few packs.. I haven't got any of the slick jr yet.. Right now I'm still using live shrimp, but that's about to end with this storm that just came through..
I kinda had that feeling too, that’s why I wasn’t super butt hurt about it lol but after just catching an upper slot trout not long before that it had me wondering.
I had to slow the video down at about the 3:41 mark just to admire that cast! What size braid are you fishing with? The only time I get that distance is with a topwater lure. I didn't realize that the combination of that big Slick and the weighted hook is a half- ounce. I have never been able to get used to a hook that is buried in the body. I have always nose hooked soft plastics with a spring. Can't argue with your success using the hook sitting in the slit of the plastic though. I love the winter videos in the marsh and bayous.
Nice!!! Would like to hear how you handle returning to fish after a change in weather. Such as after a rain storm/ even colder front. Is it back to square one of finding them again? Or if water temp and salinity stay relatively the same they’ll still be pretty close by? Thanks for any response!
The majority of the time they will stay in the same body of water that you were catching them in before, but will have to hit different depths and see what they are preferring at the time. I believe they react to water temp change more than salinity so generally if it gets colder they should be in deeper water or further back in the creek or river that you were fishing before and if it’s warmer it’s usually the opposite
These fish are in 38 ft of water. We caught fish here years ago and nothing until this year. Go figure. It's 4 am now and I am getting the boat ready to go back there now.@@CaptCollier
I love to trout fish! You sure have a lot of good looking water in your area to target just about anything. That sucked to lose that fish. Funny how them big trout know how to get off the hook!
Damn…. Weather has been rough recently. I miss seeing you way offshore messing around with the cameras, lures, and stuff! Keep up the awesome videos! Happy holidays❤
I too, fish these baits and just places a $200 order to PureFlats. One of my favorites is the pink w/ chartreuse tail. I have noticed a few things from this video that happens to me. The big fish you had get off, this happens three to four times a trip. Whether it’s in a tourney or free fishing. I hate it. Last week pre fishing, this happened. Ran like crazy. Each time came to the boat would run. Gave a beautiful head shake at the boat and I would dare to say it was upper 20’s low 30’s inch fish. But she took a hard left and left the lure behind. What I found with this was the exact same. I went to twitch and she was there. I continued reeling and pulling, so I feel my hook set wasn’t good enough. I was extremely upset. I was warned when I first got the bait and started fishing it this would occur. But I will say, the amount and size fish I catch isn’t comparable to any other bait. The next is the “bass hook set”. I love it. Been told you’re going to rip it out their mouth. But when I don’t they are like man. I’m fishing in eastern N.C. Tight lines brother, awesome video!!!
Yea man, it's part of it. It happens. You can actually rig these up just like you would a regular grub just with a larger shank jig head but I personally don't think it has the same action as it does with the owner Beast hook. But yes, if quality fish is your main goal then the slick lure should be high up on the list of artificials to throw. Hope you catch some big ones!
Nice fishing Capt
Thanks!
Nice day guys
Preciate it!
Nice catches guys!

Great video I think it was a Redfish. That’s a popular spot y’all are fishing. Lol. Tight Lines from Fowl River Alabama!

Thumbs up! I already know what's coming!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@CaptCollier as expected.
That seadek looks great on the boat
Thanks, I think so too. Im really happy with it
Man yall worked on em!!! Love the mix you are doing with your content!!
Oh yea, I appreciate it. Wish I could get offshore but this wind just won’t let up!
caught that one one foggy morning on a zara spook. in the winter.

I use 15lb daiwa J braid. That paired with the 1/8oz beast hook and slick lure you can cast a long ways, atleast with a spinning reel!
man you guys own them trout,so good to eat!good info an keep da vids commin..staysafe..

Great fishing!

Dang you Branden…now I gotta go get some Slick lures! You’re killing me Smalls!
You need to if you want to catch some good ones 😁
I finally found some trout way up the Mobile river. Nothing consistent on the Raft or Tensaw rivers. Great show.
That’s cool. I need to explore them areas more

They don’t get big from being dumb is what I always say. Haha it happens but like I said that’s what keeps us coming back 🤙🏻
Hey Brandon, what’s the water depth of that big trout?
Around 13ft
Got emmmm! Great video
Thanks! 😃
Definitely record Trout

Me too bud, me too… same!
Good fishing bro
Appreciate it!
I’m new to speckled trout fishing, new to Virginia and going to start during the winter just because my boat is finally ready lol wish me luck
Good luck! They can be tricky sometimes but rewarding when you finally get them figured out
I'm saying Red,and that Slick lure definitely has a learning curve to it
Yea but well worth it once you get the hang of it!
I love how each one of you were flinching when the guy next to them set the hook Bill Dance style! 😅
Haha right? It’s just a natural instinct at this point because I e been whacked so too many times
That was definitely ah gator trout!
That was a mermaid...
#LetsGoBrandon
Yall need to let ole Ed grab a few live shrimp on the next trip…. Been there many times! 😂
Haha he has had redemption in them since then, but yes we’ve all been there for sure
Definitely a big trout or possibly a good slot red. I know exactly where y’all were at and I say it was a Gator Trout.
have you ever caught a 30" trout? I'm still lookin for one here in tampa bay. my biggest is that one in my profile. 28 and a half.
Nope! 28 is my biggest so far. They are few and far between around here so it’s a pretty big deal if we happen to land one!
👍
Dang Capt, You wore them out! Ed was NOT happy with you! Looked like a blast, wish I was out there with you guys. It was a 30 inch trout for sure!
Haha yea he was aggravated at the time. We’ve all been there. Your buddy wearing them out left and right and you just can’t buy a bite 😅
@@CaptCollier Great content, really enjoying the trout fishing! Ed will get'em next time.

I just need a little Insite to step up my game..lol
See tanner in that boat
👍💯
I think it was a sail cat. lol Seriously think it was a red.
Haha maybe so
Ed won! He let yall catch em all. Team player
😂 yea that’s what it was
Gaftop!!! lol
😂 idk. My line wasn’t covered in slime lol
Im gonna say 80% chance redfish. That's probably why the hook popped out.
I was kinda thinking that too
SHARK.
Cpt Collier your reel sounds like plastic gears...better trade up lol
It might need alittle oil, but most of what you hear in the video is the braid winding through the spool and guides.
Everybody hates a Rod Stealing Aquatic Animal!
😂
