There’s nearly no comparison. The ebike will top out at 20mph to my understanding. It would be tough to pedal them to go faster. The Sur Ron rips to 35/40mph pretty quick.

Definitely legal. O’ahu mtb riders absolutely hate Sur Rons. If a Sur Ron is seen on a mtb trail, they’ll slash tires, key cars, and try to get the bike confiscated. Can’t stand this state at time. Mtb riders claim that Sur Ron’s ruin the trail. But then you can hear hikers that would complain about mountain bikes. If only everyone could share.
Honestly we’ve tried the pedal kit and it’s absolute garbage. 750 watts is the maximum amount of power to be classified as a legal electric pedal bike- the Sur Ron far exceeds this.
People listen. Buy a DH Bike , put BBSHD MID DRIVE. lock battery on downtube tight and thank me later saved money and if its a good dh frame its better and stabler and lighter than surron even practical and just better because only downside of dh bike is uphill and middrive just fills the gap
Once the throttle has gone on the surrons it’s going nowhere,I remember when my rev cable would snap on motorbikes an id just pull the actual cable with my hand to act like a rev (throttle) to get home, when the cable snaps on the surrons it’s electric so it works differently seems like they’re soldered in to the Rev (throttle).

I have my name on a Sur Ron in a box, but am starting to get scared at the price when there's a deal on an E-bike that is unrestricted and 75% cheaper, my main use is commuting, and then play (Sur Ron commuting is legal here... for now), what would y'all do? I have racing experience with both mountain bikes and dirt bikes, I test rode the Sur Ron and I didn't walk away as impressed as I was hoping... Awesome channel by the way!
For commuting I would go with the ebike mostly because you'll have more access to walking paths and bridges that bikes can go on, but would look sketchy if walkers or police see a 'motorcycle' going over. Also, you'll get more exercise. Both would be fun but i think in a city the ebike has more advantages. The travel time would probably be a difference of 5-15 minutes depending where you go. Did you get one? I have neither but want both. The sur ron seems more like a country road and trail rider.
He sort of glossed over this fact. I think there is more profit for the bike shops in the mountain ebike market. I know there is because I just bought a Cube Stereo 140 but still thinking about trading my Yamaha wr250 r for a sur ron.

Um, you should be standing on a dirt bike over rough terrain if you are sitting you are not riding correctly. So stand on the pegs on the sur-ron...LOL Also you use your whole body to move a dirt bike around...bad advice int his video. Clearly never rode a dirt bike before.

It’s a REEEEEALLY heavy mountain bike. About 100lbs. I can flick it around easy on dirt bike trails. But on more technical mountain bike trails, it’s a lot of work to toss around.
I have a Surron and love it... but I'm pretty sure the EMTB will be quicker downhill. You cant use the Surrons power advantage and the EMTB is much lighter. Uphill or even just on the flat that will change back to advantage Surron Where the Surrons really excels is trail riding IMO.. and thats what I use it for mainly.
wrong my sur ron functions all the same as any emtb. it works as class 1 or class 2 or class 3 or even OP/turbo i can ride my sur ron anywhere any 2 wheeler can go theres no legal difference other than weight and looks
You said the emtb goes 30mph? You have to pedal the entire time and can't just pedal to get it started and then full throttle? Side by side race would be optimal for a visual of how the surron would smoke that emtb lol ⚡
what you need is a side by side drag race to show us how much we give up for going to the eMTB vs the sur ron.

I live in Houston. I’m lucky, I can ride my SurRon on any mtb trail as long as it isn’t in a state park.

All depends on how you ride, where you ride. With mixed use on the E-MTB its not unusual to get 30+ miles of riding on a single charge.
the sur ron is a e-bike and can be ridin on bike trails AND dirtbike trails. e bikes are alot slower
We don't recommend the Sur Ron to be ridden on all bicycle trails.
