    UPDATE: Please see the notes below provided by Anthem. During my review, I checked for updates within the Anthem app and it said the firmware is up to date. I am working with Anthem on the two step process to get the MCU version updated to the latest version.
    1.The HDMI Audio dropout with Kaleidescape products was a known issue caused by the way the Kaleidescape player would send EDID information to the MRX/AVM. We worked to patch the problem on our end via firmware. This issue was resolved last year and requires that the AVM/MRX MCU version be updated. Can you please tell us the Release Version and MCU Version that shows on the “Information” Page in the web user interface? We saw the response where a follower mentioned that it was resolved with a FW update and you replied you were on the latest release version, network module release version (2.3.213). That said, it is possible that the unit's MCU version is still out of date based on your reported experience. The current MCU version is 00.80 for 4K models and HD.80 for 8K models. This has created confusion in the past, as the MCU update is a 2 step process if "Automatic Updates" has not been enabled in the unit. Feedback on streamlining the update process has been documented and acknowledged for future product releases, and is currently implemented on the new MRX SLM.
    2. In regards to the relative volume “0 dB” discussion mentioned in your video, that will vary based on each calibration. ARC Genesis measures the sensitivity of the speaker system compared to the room and sets the system-wide target level accordingly. The level adjustment will vary based on speaker sensitivity, primary listening position (ARC sets channel levels based off the first position measured), room size, and other influencing factors. While ARC Genesis always tries to achieve a 75dB target level, this can vary based on the user's specific installation and calibration. This is why the volume level on the receiver is treated as more of a listener's preference, rather than an absolute value.

    If you set the input trims to -10db for each input under the inputs section in the app then 0db = reference level on your volume scale. Great video 👍

    Recently swapped from Emotiva XMC2 to the Anthem AVM70 and have been enjoying it so far. The addition of the web UI was killer when setting things up as my equipment is in another room in a rack.
    I noticed the lack of bass (even with multiple subs that were calibrated with REW and MSO) but some simple crossover tweaks i was able to bring it all back. The ability to adjust individual things within ARC is a massive standout feature without having to do a full calibration over again.
    Ive yet to experience any audio cutouts but i do have some handshake issues on every initial boot. That's about my only issue and could be hdmi cable related.

    Glad you like the AVM70! I'm hoping I can help you with the intermittent audio issue. I have the Anthem MRX740 8K and I was having the exact same issue with my PlayStation 5. The audio would cut out every 30 seconds or so and immediately come back. It ended up being a firmware issue. Once I updated the firmware I never had the issue again! The firmware update process takes two steps on the Anthems. First you either use the Web interface or the app and download the new firmware update, which basically sends it to the unit but you still have to manually install it. Next manually use your remote on the AVM70 and scroll to the update section and tell it to apply or install the update. Hopefully this fixes your issue!

      Balanced connections actually do not improve the sound unless you have a hum from RCA connections. You do get a 3dB gain with XLR, but room correction will level match all of your speakers.

    Curious, I've had my anthem AVM 70 for just over a year now. My son and I decided to hook up his PS5 while he's on college break to try out the new NCAA football. I noticed in your video you had a PS5 input. When we went to change the refresh rate to 120 for 4k, it said it wasn't supported. I have a Epson LS12000 which supports the refresh rate and hdmi 2.1. Any ideas if this is a settings issue I need to adjust?

    Hmmm.. can we expect a follow up video discussing your impressions of ARC vs. Audyssey in more detail?that exciting video with your friend comparing the 8015 to the 7706, I’ve watched like 3 times, on my 8015 no less lol.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 месяцев назад

      Since publishing that video, I've learned that our audible memory isn't nearly as great as we think it is. Derek and I shared our honest experience. Even though we both did not think we would hear a difference, we felt we did. Was that due to Audyssey calibrating differently (as we know room correction can vary greatly from each calibration)? Was it bias telling us we heard a difference (since we were aware of what changed in the system)? I honestly do not know the answer.
      To do it effectively, I would need some type of switcher so I could switch between each processor within a fraction of a second. I do not currently have that ability.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 месяцев назад

      I can say I absolutely enjoy my AV7706 and I also absolutely love the sound from the Anthem AVM70. It would be fun if I had a way of fast switching and could do a blind A/B test between the two.

      @@Youthman regarding “rerunning Audyssey”, there’s no need for that if two processors have the same version of Audyssey and channel configuration capabilities. Just upload the same Audyssey file from the app or MultEQ X to both units and the exact same room corrections will be applied to both. Too late for that now on the 8015 v 7706 but just wanted to dispel the myth about different Audyssey calibrations. It’s true two runs will yield different results because their error band is big, but you don’t need to do two different runs for two different units unless they are different versions of Audyssey or different channel configurations. In which case, what exactly are you comparing then?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 месяцев назад

      What I’m saying is we did not do that. I ran Audyssey on both of them so that could generate a difference in what we heard between the two units.

    • @HiFinest343
      @HiFinest343 5 месяцев назад

      @@Youthman ya and I’m saying you should not have run Audyssey that second time. You should have used the same calibration file for both units.
      It’s ok, it’s long gone now but for future use, when comparing Sonic differences between AVR’s or PrePros that both use the same calibration, just run it once, configure all units the same, and upload that one calibration file to all units. Now you’ve removed “different Audyssey runs” from the equation.
