    Duuuude 🤣 you lucky duck. I'm quite jealous of your cheap cheap finds. I started traditional wet shaving when I started college to save money on blades and just fell in love with it. The saving part disappeared as I ended up buying several modern stainless steel razors (if you don't own a Muhle Rocca I highly recommend). After accumulating some nice modern de razors I'm after some vintage gillette models of course the hobby drives on 😅. Now living in Ontario cottage country, very difficult to find the Gillette adjustable in used shops and flea markets but hey cheers I enjoyed your video and got excited vicariously thrue you 🤣. Unbelievable thrifting well done, happy shaves, good luck with music and Español from a fellow musician. And hey if you haven't already, shave with a Muhle Rocca ! 🤘👊

    Great information. I chose the safety razor after viewing a video about the benefits. I saved $$$$. I purchased a sleeve of Astra D.E. blades ten years ago. I still have blades as oppose to buying the latest razor, disposable razor etc. My Safety razors I inherited.

    Great finds, young man! At a local antique store I recently scored a pristine little used 1959 FB with case and blades for $12! Yes you are so right: you gotta poke around a bit but the bargains are out there. I’ve never paid more than $15 for each razor.

      Mmmmhmmm!! I'd say that too but I quickly dropped $20 on my FatBoy. So I guess i have to say I've never spent more than $20 o na Razor! Also, I believe that only buying razors when you encounter a deal makes the whole process much more exciting and special. Additionally, it makes me look harder! Thanks for your comment and your time Albert!

    Great find at a great price! The original display case adds a lot of value. I just did the pre order of the Global Shave club reproduction of the 1.95 1960. Also, Gillette gold colored razors are in fact gold plated! They are the Aristocrat version of that model razor. They also usually have a leather box travel case and not the plastic display case.

    Solid vid and great find! How does it shave? I’ve heard that antique stores in rural areas are more likely to have well priced razors. I imagine it’s because they get far less foot traffic and consequently sell more eagerly. Estate sales in large cities typically have everything well priced by professional estate sale companies that know what they’re doing, unfortunately. Make more vids 👍🏻

    just realized you are a trumpet player!! that is what I played in marching band and concert band. I was pretty good and took private lessons but when I graduated stopped playing. my dad was a semi pro drummer back in the late 40s through the 70s and played with some of the big bands bands back in the day. he also loved the trumpet!! not sure if you are a trumpet history buff but he knew some well known trumpet players from the 70s and up. ever hear of Joe Mosello? he was a family friend of my dad, he played with Maynard Ferguson and studied under Chuck Mangione I beleive.

    • @VitoBell
      @VitoBell  3 года назад

      Dang! You know, I've never heard of Joe Mosello however Maynard Ferguson and Chuck Mangione are some of my favorite trumpeters from that era of music to listen to. "Gospel John" by Maynard is awesome and "Give it all you got" by Chuck are absolutely wonderful songs. I'll certainly have to check out Joe Mosello now that you've mentioned him. Additionally, fun fact but my dad is also a drummer. He is more into classic rock rather than big band however he still talks very highly of big band drummers such as Buddy Rich. He occasionally plays in with a few bands in the area! Also, I never took lessons until AFTER I graduated. It's funny how experiences can differ. I love hearing about people's history with band. I think highschool marching band is a social experience that truly transcends time and social changes. It's something that when talking to people I've found to have a very similar and lasting impression on anyone involved. Thanks for sharing that with me. This is what platforms like this are for and it's certainly why I look forward to posting videos :D

    • @VitoBell
      @VitoBell  4 года назад +1

      I'm sure there is! I'd put money on the fact that there is likely a Gillette Safety razor of some kind at any antique shop in the U.S.A. It may, however, take some extra time to find a fat boy given that Seattle has a larger population than where I'm from. Either way I'm sure you'll find one and that's exciting! Bidding would be supporting the whoever found and restored it so there is nothing wrong with that too! It's certainly worth the effort due to its rich history and great shaving ability. Good luck and thanks for the comment :)

      I do perceive a difference between the two. That may just be the placebo effect or a difference in the condition of the two but I don't think so. The most notable difference is the weight of the fat boy. I think that has more of an impact than people expect it to. Also I found them one at a time and at different stores! I do check the same stores all the time though because they do cycle through inventory.

You ask about my shaving experience. When I started shaving was back in the mid 70s, and I started by using one of my dads Gem razors, then in 1977 I bought a Gillette Atra that I still have and use. Just to name a few of them?) Cut the bar soap up on a paper plate, pour the soap, shavings and chunks from your plate into a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, microwave your soap and cups or mugs? put your paper plate under your cup in case it bubbles out of your cup? for a minute or so? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. (You can use any Hard Soaps You like??) Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money in these Inflationary Times. Your mileage may vary? Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year
