► A rare chance to see prolific artist Author & Punisher rendering aggressive and agile blend of cyborg/noisey genres that we cherish. Видеоклипы
This guy needs to build a 15' mechanical suit with these instruments integrated into it so he can stomp around destroying cars while making this music.
Graeme Gibson definitely looks like he's piloting a much.
Graeme Gibson that would be brilliant!
Like Bert in Mary Poppins, but metal
I was assuming he already WAS in a mech suit stomping around destroying cars and small towns.
We need a fucking Army of these, talk about intimidation.
A boiler room in Berlin is like the madison square garden of industrial metal
Underappreciated comment.
This is industrial?
@@stemcellphoneVery much so.
Ten Inch Nails
I love NIN, but this is what Trent wishes he was.
good one
now now , Trent was aground breaker and influence on countless others
@@BillyCLeWorth definitely, and he's done amazing work, but there's always a whiney aspect. This work achieves a more aggressive sound closer to a Godflesh.
Billy C
Definitely. I think people who say this crap about NIN have never listened to anything more than their singles.
this is the most technologically advanced Bop It I've ever seen
that got a sensible chuckle! very good
Slide it! Pull it! Flick it! Growl it!
LOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Wtf this is literally industrial
More doom sounding than industrial but taking the industrial approach of using and making unusual instruments
No is not
This guy is like: "That's cute you bought your instruments. I invented my own."
Did he invent the laptop?
JK, he did design some really gnarly mic's, but most of the stuff he's handling is either an Arturia Keystep or home-made industrial Midi (over USB) Controllers, not really instruments.
A midi controller is absolutely a musical instrument. The fact that it requires a synth or computer to produce the sound takes nothing away from that.
ähm, you just said it yourself. it´s a controller. ^^ and yes it does.
you don´t have to control a synth or DAW with it. it´s just a digital language and can be used for example to program a light show.
Blue Man Group invented their own instruments, this guy just made neat midi controllers.
Yeah, he's said that. Physical midi controllers, most so that he doesn't have to loop or use the computer... to get the physical feel.
Edit: Also have 45 minutes live without touching said computer...
I think if you have any interest in music, in any form, it is almost impossible not to appreciate what this guy does.
James Alderson Indeed!!! He’s fn amazing/genius 🔊🤘🏼
Totally!!! It's crazy unique...musically not for me, but mad props to his vision
I have loads of respect and appreciation for his ideas and creativity, but I've never been an industrial fan and this is the closest thing to noise instead of music. I saw Author & Punisher live this year opening for tool and I couldn't even hear his vocals it was that noisy and loud. But knowing that he's a mechanical engineer and he invented his own instruments, he's got a huge brain for sure
I had the unfortunate opportunity to hear this while opening up for tool. This is by far the worst “music” I’ve ever heard in my life. Most people left their seats and went to the common areas for relief. Because it was so bad, I researched him. After research, I gained respect for his innovation. It doesn’t change the fact that this “music” is repulsive.
@@mathewreed818 Repulsive is the best!

tracks @this live sounds way better than at the album.
amazing isnt it ... I saw him live before I really dug into his recorded work. HE LIVES for live music. A thing of beauty.
Thank you for putting the titles!
Thanks
People that provide tracking info have a special place in heaven. Thank you.
This is amazing! I feel like a kid again discovering heavy music for the first time!
Yeah. Saw him open for tool and got all giddy. Found a new band to listen to.
This might be the pinnacle of modern industrial music.
Industrial music in true and pure form.
No it's called industrial metal.
Of course!
Genocide Organ forgets the one thing that all too many industrial bands forget: the music.
@@vicdmise g.o. is music.
More doom than industrial
If this guy recreated the THX deep note, it would shatter the universe.
2:25 say no more, bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Dumbfucks ,these gadgets produce no sound
I would like to see that HAHAHAH
@@callactm14 these gadgets produce the very unique way to sound for usual elektrons and moogs, definitely that way of sound can not be recreated with usual keyboards
@@moofik bro. Is a controller.
Imagine wondering what happened to that one kid from high school... looking him up and its this dude, this video...
I discovered this guy because my fridge was humming one of his songs
discovered this vid, checked his tourdates, bought tickets to a show close by in a month, all within 15 minutes :)
I need to check.. NOW!!
I'll be seeing him tonight!
Im seeing him with Tool tomorrow. So stoked!!🤘
How was the gig?
Just discovered this guy at a 3TEETH show here in NOLA. Shook the whole freaking room.. Why have I never herd him before?!?!?! Brings me back to the old days of trail blazers in industrial. Skinny Puppy, NIN, KMFDM, and Godflesh have all had their time to make a mark. This guy is etching his way onto the wall of industrial music in a big way...
noisey brought me here... how have I not heard of this before?... amazing stuff
Same. lol
same here
Arc Crenshaw I thought the same thing.. Ha-ha
Just saw him perform last night, and despite how great this video is, it doesn't do the feel of being there any justice. But still glad to see this one.
also me. (via VCV rack fb group.)
and the coolest human being award goes to..
This guy alone has my utmost respect as an individual musician and skilled engineer. Would be highly honored if I ever had the chance to collaborate on music with him.
I feel like him and Mick Gordon should be friends... And record an album together.
Davepotnoodle instantly what came to my mind.
i didn't know I wanted that until just now, but damn ... Mick's insane doom sound array, this dude's insane mechanical array, oh man
My ears are not ready for that please.
I thought the same thing!
I don't think we are worthy of such music. Our ears are too unrighteous. ;)
From Phish? Yeah, I guess I could see them working together.
some of the smoothest sounding industrial i've heard and man you gotta give him some serious credit for making his own gear.
So happy I get to see him live when he tours with Tool in Jan
FML
Once again in history the support is better than the main act :D
I'll be there tonight, but this guy seems too heavy and dark even for me to love anymore. Not enough melodies, mainly just sounds with an angry voice over it. Used to be more into the angry, dark, heavy music, but not so much these days. Surprised Tool would have this guy go before them. Tool is going to sound so chill in comparison lol!
Oooooh....wow
@@mordikal dude. If you think this guy is better than tool...
He was a GREAT opening act for that tour. But tool did show up. And they were AWESOME.
Fuck yes!!!! I love these Boiler Room sessions: First Sunn O))), then Phurpa, and now Author and Punisher.
The Lukeas sounds like hardcore sleep. Quality
Hell yas.
needs much more appreciation.
Some humans are indeed quite interesting characters
This is what I always wanted Nine Inch Nails to be.
I wanna see a collab!!
How about The mind is a terrible thing to taste era ministry instead?
I don't. Trent can FO
How about sampling and vocals by Too Dark Park era Skinny Puppy
hell yes, I can only hear so much whining about how hard of a life a middle-class white cis male had growing up.
I can almost hear myself whistling some of these little ditties on the way to the shops :-)
He never fails to astound me. Tristan, you're unreal, man
The B/W makes it even more crazy
Imagine him busking on the street
Ilya Santonov LMFAO!!!!
Finally. Sombody made some music of the sounds that are in my head while working in a machine shop all day.
I wish a had this distortion tone on my guitar
One of my favorite artists! I discovered him just last year and his music just blows me away. This is an independent artist that I definitely see a future for and I predict that down the road, he will be influential (mark my words). He just needs to be noticed.
This guy is an amazing engineer and musician. The thought process and skill to make all those noise making machines and also create cohesive music with them is beyond genius. I hope there's more artists like him in the future.
I remember the old industrial music shows back in the 80's. You would often see racks of synthesizers mixed with metal objects and home made equipment. It was VERY common. Nowadays, you go to an electronic music show, or an industrial music show, and you typically see a guy with a laptop, a folding table, a mixer, and maybe a keyboard controller if you're lucky and you RARELY will even see a synthesizer or home built junk (with the exception of the really fringe noise scene). A show like "Author & Punisher" is such a refreshing combination of new + oldschool. I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen something like this back in the 80's when I was a teenager.
Check out Street Sects - 90s style industrial mixed with a live performance of sensory deprivation due to fog machines and incense along with their pounding hardcore industrial music, makes them an uneasy yet very fascinating new band.
I posted a quick video of their live performance in Milwaukee on my page.
I miss bands like Einsturzende Neubouten, or Test Department, where you would just go to their shows and they would just have a damn junkyard on the stage and it wouldn't sound like a junkyard. They would just get amazing, strange, sounds out of that crap and actually get songs out of it. You just don't see that any more. That's what I mean. I really miss stuff like that. All the clanging and banging, Using real equipment and machines to make sounds and noises. I'm tired of this throbbing techno influence crap that infected industrial in the 90's. That aspect never seems to have gone away either. Most industrial now seems to have a hardcore house music influence like it came out of the clubs of Detroit but got turned up 10000 notches. That's not what I'm into. My scene was the early 80's industrial scene. There's not much beyond the 80's that I've found that I can get into with a few exceptions (and I've looked). Wolf Eyes isn't bad. They kind of carry the torch... but they're kind of getting boring right now. They lost something after Dilloway left.
And you WANT to see him live ... Tristan puts its all on the table ...
This guy is awesome and deserves more attention. Genius.
greg finn Fortunately he’s opening for TOOL in January 2020!! 🔊🤘🏼
I saw this guy open for Tool and his set fuckin blew me away. Just about blew out my eardrums too.🖤
There was so many people on the tool subreddit complaining about having to see author and punisher and saying its "just noise", its so fucking funny they just don't seem to get it
@@Sektor826 because Tool doesn't know any better and let's anyone open for them. It's not like they have a reputation for bringing incredible talents to a wider audience.
Stupid Tool.
This is the most refreshing thing in metal music i have seen in a long time. I absolutely love this. Fuck yes!!
This is the most refreshing thing in electronic music i have seen in a long time.
I now know what it means to fall in love again , thank you very much!
i cant listen to anything the same way again. holy shit. thank you.
I would love to see a full breakdown on how every controller he built works and how he implements them into his DAW for a live performance,
In The Grim Darkness of the Far Future, There is Only WAR (and also Author & Punisher)
Author & Punisher collaboration with Ihsahn required NOW!
The single best live show I've ever seen. I was entranced for his entire set.
Looked him up since he is opening for Tool in January. I might be more interested in him now.
Nihilistic industrial bliss
Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick this is amazing! Found this falling down a RUclips hole
+1
This is one of the most badass things I've ever seen and heard.
Makes me think of the movie Tetsuo the IronMan (the first)
The man's work is inspiring and unique, unlike any artist I've heard.
Fun fact he is on Phil Anselmo's House Core Label
He was... now he's on Relaspe
Woah, that's cool. I live near Phil's house.
This just gave me the most amazing eargasm!!!!
Xombie Queen F yes!!! 🔊😈🤘🏼
This is the most exciting thing I've come across in music for a while. I can't believe I have barely just discovered this. This guy is fuckin awesome.
This is one of the most innovative things in music I have heard in a good while!! Bravo!
Such a perfect venue for this performance.
Was watching a Fear Factory interview where Burton C. Bell mentioned Author & Punisher, and here I am. Impressed indeed.
REPLY
Which was the interview??
He created his own genre , and wow! What an Amazing preformance !!!!!!😱😱
Wow, just wow. What a great performer. The music is awesome and how he plays is equally cool
242K views. I can't help but think of Front 242, the band that got me into industrial music. I'll always love Front 242. Yet, this is eons beyond even that, in terms of sheer creativity from just one person. The perfect fusion of man and machine, creating a hybrid of music and art that is simply brilliant.
Pretty intense! Love it ! That was amazing
welp, this guy wins industrial
One of the most impressive damn videos I've ever seen.
when you know how to use your degree in mechanical engineering
Relistening to this reminds me of driving home in a blizzard after work while being depressed asf and once I got to my destination I stayed in the vehicle to finish this experience. Thank you A&P
I geek on his music so much . Beyond stoked he added a live guitarist
This is so Raw, so mechanical... I fucking love it!
Wooooo! A true visionary! Glad I found this set.
Fantastic! This guy is just great!
Finally some music that works perfect with my 800w subwofer under the racing chair
The pure beauty of industrial metal
Heavy, Loopy, Mechanically and Despair.
Love it.
Incroyable ! Formidable ! Thx Boiler Room
damn this is phenomenal
I saw a piece about him in the San Diego newspaper this morning and wanted to hear some of his music and go on. Godammit I can’t stop listening.
I wanna say that this is gonna be the future of metal music, it’s metal for the electronic age.
I wont give up on the electric guitar lol.
There's this thing called "Industrial music". It's been going since the 90s and i think you might like it
@@igracsimon6980 I presume you mean Industrial metal, since it’s a sub genre of industrial music that started in the 90s with bands like Ministry and NIN. Industrial music itself though began way back in the post-punk era of the late 1970s with bands like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire.
the evil version of That One Guy
We need a battle of the one man bands
What a performance. And what a Sound! THIS is real indus music. Gratz Man. Please go on.
Beautifull. Still loving this music. Keep going on, comrade.
amazing! love it!
This is absolutely awesome.
This is amazing! Guy is a genious
industrial drones from the future. this is it
PERSONIFICATION OF INDUSTRIAL!
woah!- this is unique..pretty dope & intriguing
Beautiful musician artist
Reminds me of Strapping Young Lad somehow... Reminds me of "Sprituality" by SYL. Cool!
THANK you, I could feel it but I couldn't place it yet
Omg I thought the exact same thing
Pure industrial brilliance! I saw this friendly chap at Cold Waves VII in New York and he was astonishing. My only regret is not buying everything he had for sale because I'd already spent my money on all the other bands.... Just gone to Bandcamp and have bought his new CD and t-shirt!
This is so neat. I could see this guy all dressed up for a Max Max movie playing this stuff
I love it with all my heart!
Amazing... Skinny Puppy Darkness and texture with NIN composition ... Absolutely Magnificient.
This sounds like a devastating industrial mix of an entire filter album in one song
Nothing but hair standing on end listening to this guy... soooo freaking badass.
This guy is amazing, wuaoooo, what heaviness, genius.
THIS IS TALENT.
Sick, inspired and fucking awesome!
Good god, I want to be there. Missed the show in Moscow because my legs were toasted with arthrosis. My friends found Tristan in the crowd and I have signed LP now (Pressure mine). My pals told Tristan, about my leg disabilities (they told my leg was broken, it was as not, it definitely effd up) and Mr Tristan signed Pressure Mine LP. Thank you Mr Shone. Cheers from Russia).
Love it. Wish I could make music like that.
This is new for me, wtf this is so fucking amazing.
This is the sound of the future. I like how he made his own instruments and made something unique. In todays music world where everything is calculated and to be easily accessible to everybody, this guy is like Don Quixote fighting the windmills and going on his way not giving a care. And for that you gotta respect the guy. Hopefully would catch him on one of the live tours he has in EU...
These are NOT Instruments ,produce no sounds ,are just ridiculously huge controllers
this is fucking glorious
Bulat Zagidullin : you took the words out of my mouth, verbatim....
Seeing this live is actually insane
We've got no future plan.. it's a miracle we've come this far..
I feel bad for whoever(if anyone) had to play after him....
To clarify, if i was listed next on the bill, id be too awestruck and impressed to remember my songs...
Thanx BR, this is fuckin amazing!
I've luckily only had to open for few a couple times, always enthralling to watch him play.
Not if it was merzbow
I saw him open for tool. Most people left their seats during A&P because they couldn’t stand it. I think tool was very strategic with their opener. You can’t fail when your opening act is literally the worst music anyone there has ever heard. He certainly punished about 30,000 people that day.
I'm addicted. Took all of two seconds.
