Industrial metal visionary Author & Punisher has returned to Europe & United Kingdom last April with the experimental performer Lingua Ignota. Before the show in Berlin, Evil Greed invited Tristan Shone and Kristin Hayter on the famous sofa to talk about their favorite records.

I'm in agreement with Tristan, a Chelsea Wolfe(and/or Sleep)/Author and Punisher tour needs to happen!
Hot take incoming but I think that tour would suck because he would be the opener of course despite being a way better act than either of them. My ass would have to pay $40 to watch A&P and then leave.
A&P and Lingua would be an incredible collabo, but DEFINITELY needs to be a conversation that happens and is documented in an audio format of some kind. probably a podcast.
I love this series and both these artists. I discovered Lingua Ignota when she played with Author & Punisher in London a few years back, and have been an absolute fan ever since. She annihilated her set, utterly obliterated the entire venue with her intensity.
Thanks to them I’ve discovered more bands like Thou, The Body, Chelsea Wolfe and many more. Big fan to both of them!

I was really disappointed at first when Lingua Ignota didn't bring up Boris or Merzbow when she took out the Sunn o))) record. Thankfully I watched to the end.

Déjà, vu de la surface ce disque est composé de sonorités industrielles voir black metal qui s’étendent sur de longues chansons ayant trais à la douleur, aux abus, à la vengeance et la catharsis. Parfois il n'y a simplement que du piano, de la voix et une ambiance électronique ou des samples qui transmettent les mêmes sentiment. Vu de manière simpliste voici ce qu'il en est mais l'exécution et la conviction apparente de Lingua Ignota en rend le tout génial Dans cet album on pourrait relier chaque élément, chaque idée, chaque technique avec un autre artiste et seraient cités Scott Walker pour ses travaux des années 2010, Diamanda Galas, l'intrépidité du classique Bjork qui parlera à nombreux, l'étrange mysticisme de Judee Sill, l'atmosphère noire de Burzum. Et pourtant... Rien de tout cela ne se rapporte beaucoup à ce que cet album me fait ressentir, finalement ça n'a rien a voir avec tout ça.
L'artiste de Lingua Ignota est apparemment une chanteuse classique qualifiée, et sa voix est la véritable histoire de All Bitches Die. Alors qu'elle livre sa part torturée et tordue sa clarté elle et l'étendue de sa gamme d'expression permettent au message de briller à travers l'écoute, volant généralement libre de tout piège typique d'une pop qui aurait été trop dévorante pour les paroles.
Les chansons sont longues, mais c’est parce que ce sont des voyages vers la guérison, vers le pardon ou l'oubli. ses paroles sont percutantes mais c’est parce que la douleur de son protagoniste exige une transcendance pour s’échapper et éliminer la douleur. Sa palette sonore est souvent bruyante et bruitiste mais cela pourrait-il être autrement? En fait, oui, cela peut aussi être angélique, divin, personnel et introspectif, comme si tout ce feu et cette fureur n’étaient là à brûler le micro ou la scène seulement que par besoin de purification.
