    hi james
you do not have to paint the whole boat in one go you can do different areas at a time it may pay to just paint the roof then move on to other areas,
just remember if you leave the primer to long then you will have to rub down between coats,
    hope this helps regards john

I have to paint outside. Tried latest Wickes 4" foam [previous rollers better] dont hold enough paint for me. Tied B&Q [Diall] these hold to much paint for me lol. I like to paint a strip about 1 1/2 feet wide top to bottom on the cabin side as you have to be quick outside.Where do you get your rollers from ? This obviously becomes more important during glossing.

I've been watching a lot of your uploads to get some practical information to help me paint a boat for a friend . He hasn't got the funds or place to get it painted in a tunnel , so it's going to get a freshen up on the mooring .
Although it can't be taken back to the steel , is it still possible to simply take it back to the original primer , taking off any flaking paint , then rub down , re prime , and paint ? I appreciate it's not ideal , but If there is anything I could do with the constraints on this job , I'd really appreciate the advice .

When adding each layer of Primer, do you have to paint the whole boat and then wait for it to dry before adding the next layer? Thanks!

Thanks for these videos. What primer do you use? It seems to sand nicely.

hi thanks we do not rub down the primer, its the undercoat, we use international for both the primer and undercoat, the undercoat is international pre-kote in blue grey

You told us the importance of wearing gloves and not touching it then promptly went on and ran your hands all over it!

UKAirscape Hi yes you are right, i think it should be noted that there is a difference between long term contact with moisture transfer and dirty hands, against lightly touching the surface with clean hands,
clean hands very lightly run over the surface will also tell you how clean the surface really is,
but if in doubt wear gloves
      thanks for the comment

John Barnard Ltd. Ah, OK. Thanks. I loved the series of videos by the way, watched them all in sequence last night.
PS You mentioned DIYers doing the work in the open - is it really feasible to do this without being under cover?

Yes it is possible to paint out side but you have to except some compromise due to dust, insects and the like, also meeting guidelines becomes more difficult, this is an area we cover on my painting course as not everybody can paint in doors.

feasible yes but hard to avoid dust insects etc, also difficult with drying times, damp and so on.
