Anyone listening in 2020? Did you know Bruce did EVERYTHING on this song? All vocals, all instruments, all recording....this is entirely the work of one man.
I just saw an interview with Kelly Clarkson. She said "Lift Me Up" is her favorite song by Bruce Springsteen, and that he is very underrated as a vocalist.
Is it even possible to write and perform a song like this without feeling deeply and fully the emotions it conveys? Bruce is a channeler-he channels from some higher power. He’s more than just an exceptionally talented singer/songwriter. He’s touched by the divine. I don’t sense that in every Springsteen song, but in many of them, and certainly in this one.
Bruce said that he wanted the song to be airy, ethereal. It amazes me that this song can be simultaneously so ethereal yet so weighty and immense. It might be easy to mistake this as a song of grief, given the mournful final minute. For me, it’s a song of intense longing, mixed with loneliness.
This is the sort of song which demonstrates the true unique genius of Bruce Springsteen as a songwriter. So many people just see him as a great rocker and american troubador, whereas the reality is than he can write such a wide range of material and has done so brilliantly over a 40 year period. Absolutely nobody can compare with him when it comes to consistancy of quality over such a period of time. Lift me up is a beautiful, evocative song.
This song is the work of one man. Bruce did all the singing, played all the instruments, recorded it, mixed it. This heart, this heart, this wilderness.
I pray that you stay healthy and that no coronavirus comes near you, your family, or your dwelling place. May your heart continue to beat strong as the beat of this song. Love You
I came across this song recently. I'm shocked that Bruce makes it with such a soft, non-rock voice. I've read comments from others that he did it all himself on this song. He has potential, it's a shame people don't know everything about him. He is a musical genius. May God help him. This song allows me to dream and move to another better world.
I love this song, it gives people with mental illness hope and courage . It somehow feels like helps me to be strong. It relaxes my soul and brings me peace. I hope it brings other people peace. Thank you for this song.
As Bruce gets older his music becomes much more haunting. It seems as if he is exploring more of where he can take his music and I find this so damn awesome. Bruce always could kick some ass and now he is just getting better!
Je ne connaissais pas cette magnifique chanson. Merci au producteur de la série Pure Genius de l'avoir mise à la fin de l'épisode 1 et donc de m'avoir permis de la découvrir.
Bruce is truly one of the best ever singer song writers this world have ever seen .gives everything to his music and fans.if your a fan of the Boss you get bang for buck .True Legend.
again, another fine example of Springsteens emotion provoking, beautiful and at times haunting songwriting abilities. he's right up there with the best ever...deservedly so!!
"Lift Me Up" I don't need your answered prayers Or the chains your lover wears I don't need your rings of gold Or the secrets that you hold Lift me up, darling Lift me up And I'll fall with you, lift me up Let your love lift me up I don't need your sacred vow Or the promise tomorrow brings There, behind the morning clouds I'll take the faith the daylight brings Lift me up, darling Lift me up And I'll fall with you, lift me up Let your love lift me up When the morning bright Lifts away this night And the light above We will find our love We will find our love Your skin, your hand upon my neck This skin, your fingers on my skin This kiss, this heartbeat, this breath This heart, this heart, this wilderness Lift me up, darling Lift me up And I'll fall with you, lift me up Let your love lift me up Lift me up, darling Lift me up And I'll fall with you, lift me up Let your love lift me up
I’ve had several passengers in my Taxi over the years who , well basically had to listen to the song while I was working the night shift lol 😂. No one ever guessed who it was . All were amazed when I told them . Yes , the song is brilliant.
Awh, this song really proves that Bruce's genius can stretch from the likes of the rousing 'Rosalita' or '10th Avenue Freeze Out' to the harder 'Radio Nowhere' and the new 'Ghost of Tom Joad' and then something so beautiful, sombre and touching like this or 'Secret Garden'. He is a total genius.
I love this song, it gives people hope and courage that have a mental illness and helps them to be strong. It relaxes your soul. Above everything it brings me peace
It was the theme playing quietly behind the most poignant parts of the show PURE GENIUS ... it pulled on my heart (as does this show) ... I am so glad that 'the Boss' shows another softer side ... it is purely magical. Thank you, Bruce and Pure Genius
The scenery in his video is absolutely breathtaking. I have no words for the release of emotions inside myself as my eyes stare so deeply into each scene. I can't help but imagine myself in those exact moments! His voice is one I could listen to all day...❤
Such a beautiful song, i love the Bald Eagle soaring, So glad they are protected. you can' t even posess a feather of a Bald Eagle Now if we would just protect our Buffalo the same way,
Never though Bruce could have pulled THIS One out of his hat. What a contrast to his more masculine era. THIS is a nothing but a masterpiece! Would have left Marc Knofler and his Beautiful Music in envy👍👏

#jamescooper I wasn't aware of that, but not surprised. It's such a deeply personal tribute, and easy to make it our own.
That makes it even more beautiful...which I didn’t think was possible. 🖤✨🖤✨🖤✨
Sorry but Nils Lofgren's voice is unmistakable
@@sissygoba969 No offense, but you are incorrect. Look it up.
So ethereal and so beautiful. ❤️
I just saw an interview with Kelly Clarkson. She said "Lift Me Up" is her favorite song by Bruce Springsteen, and that he is very underrated as a vocalist.
Where can I watch that interview?
How did I miss this?
Falsetto Bruce the entire song. Wow

This song at the end of the HBO series Show Me A Hero devastated me. RIP Nick Wasicsko.
Same. I've been haunted by it for days.
It really was so sad. I couldn't hold back tears.
Rien n’est aussi incroyable que ce mec qui nous fait en concert danser, chanter et rire, et balance cette chanson. Unique. The boss
Only the Boss knows how to touch the heart in this way.
Well said and I agree. But even though I’ve come to love the boss I can’t take his political views.
Amen.
One of my favorite Bruce songs, beautiful, just beautiful
He is our countries national treasure. Quite simply the best artist ever. 6 time baptism attendee. First baptism 1984 Saratoga Springs New York.
Bruce is simply a musical genius. What a great song
Greg Parry I love you always! 🥰 Your not in pain anymore....we will meet again someday my friend ❤ RIP ❤

La più bella canzone di tutti i tempi❤️❤️❤️❤️
This song is the work of one man. Bruce did all the singing, played all the instruments, recorded it, mixed it. This heart, this heart, this wilderness.
It Just Takes Me Away From My Everyday Life, To Another Tranquil Place, For a Few Minutes. Love Bruce By The Way.
There was a time I listened to hip hop, now it always seems to be Bruce Springsteen, how times change...
bienvenu au club mon ami !
Even my cats love this song.
Bruce can reach high notes and he lifts us up, blessed be him
Such a Heavenly and Devine expression of Bruce and life
Cette chanson nous emmène loin.. très loin de nos souffrances
Bruce s music not only is heard by our ears....but with our souls as well.
How is it that I have never heard this song? Such beauty! first time listening to it in 2021
First heard this in the 1999 movie "Limbo," then again in the HBO min-series "Show Me A Hero." Just a beautiful song
Just magnificent....Springsteen is the most gifted songwriter and live performer of all time as far as I am concerned.
Amen to that!
Totally agree!!
entièrement d'accord avec vous
Yutube
You are right about that! When he’s done, he will go down as one of the most , if not THE most, prolific songwriters of all time.

True story, Bruce Springsteen was actually the eagle flying AND the waterfall in the video. The work of one man.
Best ever ❤️❤️😻😛😍🥰😘
Yet more confirmation, if any were needed, of Bruce's eternal genius
As Bruce gets older his music becomes much more haunting. It seems as if he is exploring more of where he can take his music and I find this so damn awesome. Bruce always could kick some ass and now he is just getting better!
thespankdmonkey Absolutely perfect! Great description also.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. The vocals remind me of Boy George's when he sings "The Crying Game" song. Love them both.
Je ne connaissais pas cette magnifique chanson. Merci au producteur de la série Pure Genius de l'avoir mise à la fin de l'épisode 1 et donc de m'avoir permis de la découvrir.

"Lift Me Up"
I don't need your answered prayers
Or the chains your lover wears
I don't need your rings of gold
Or the secrets that you hold
Lift me up, darling
Lift me up
And I'll fall with you, lift me up
Let your love lift me up
I don't need your sacred vow
Or the promise tomorrow brings
There, behind the morning clouds
I'll take the faith the daylight brings
Lift me up, darling
Lift me up
And I'll fall with you, lift me up
Let your love lift me up
When the morning bright
Lifts away this night
And the light above
We will find our love
We will find our love
Your skin, your hand upon my neck
This skin, your fingers on my skin
This kiss, this heartbeat, this breath
This heart, this heart, this wilderness
Lift me up, darling
Lift me up
And I'll fall with you, lift me up
Let your love lift me up
Lift me up, darling
Lift me up
And I'll fall with you, lift me up
Let your love lift me up
finally found this haunting falsetto song again my man moves me to tears yet again pure perfection is Bruce
absolutely crushed by this at the end of Show Me A Hero. devastating. Bruce's music is so perfect in the way it was used in that series.

Lyrical brilliance........a musical genius though? No. It all comes from his heart.
What's the difference?
Incredible lyricist and composer. I first heard Bruce in Newark, NJ in 1973. The passage of time.....
I love this song, it gives people hope and courage that have a mental illness and helps them to be strong. It relaxes your soul. Above everything it brings me peace
Damn this is beautiful.....
It was the theme playing quietly behind the most poignant parts of the show PURE GENIUS ... it pulled on my heart (as does this show) ... I am so glad that 'the Boss' shows another softer side ... it is purely magical. Thank you, Bruce and Pure Genius
No words to describe this song...
MARAVILLOSA. Muchas Muchas Muchas GRACIAS. Desde España con cariño y admiración
Kippevel, wat een bijzonder mooi nummer
Added to "FAVORITES". I want this played at my funeral.
Nice choice. My 'restless farewell' song can be Bruce's early 70's "Seaside Bar Song".
this is why he truly is the boss wow such a haunting song not heard before is this on any album
It's only on the Limbo soundtrack
It's also on "The Essential Bruce Springsteen", a 2 CD greatest hits collection.

The scenery in his video is absolutely breathtaking. I have no words for the release of emotions inside myself as my eyes stare so deeply into each scene. I can't help but imagine myself in those exact moments! His voice is one I could listen to all day...❤
His singing reminds me of Roy Orbinson. One of Bruce's heroes.
Bruce is my favorite artist, but he didn't have a 4 octave voice like Roy...incredible
I can hear the Heart Beat. It beats in the soul of the Eagle soaring on the wings of Love for her one and only life long Love.
Such a beautiful song, i love the Bald Eagle soaring, So glad they are protected. you can' t even posess a feather of a Bald Eagle Now if we would just protect our Buffalo the same way,
Heard this song for the first time in the TV Show: Pure Genius. I love it.
Beautiful video for a beautiful song!!!!
This is the very first time I've heard this song. Fabulous!
Strong Man who is so delicate! And this voice! I love it 😍
I love the video, the landscapes... the river in the middle of the forest...
+MaouXY Much of it is from the "Lonesome Day" video.
La versatilità di Bruce e immensa!! Unica!!! 😅😅😇😍😘💖💘💞💯

I see what you did there
That just got rather dark and depressing
I know
Cringe occurred
I just told someone I wasn't a Bruce Springsteen fan the other day - then I hear this. I stand corrected.
Beautiful I believe Bruce is such a great man 😊

Never though Bruce could have pulled THIS One out of his hat. What a contrast to his more masculine era. THIS is a nothing but a masterpiece! Would have left Marc Knofler and his Beautiful Music in envy👍👏
