He reads a lot, and listens to a wide variety of music, paying attention to the lyrics. In short, he LISTENS to others. I think that has a lot to do with his being a self taught scholar, he is open to listening, and learning.
He seems to have a caring heart and soul. My favorite song was “Dancing in the Dark”. It reminds me when I was a young woman who was just so bored with my life. And that song made me get up and dance. My favorite lyrics: what to change, my clothes, my face......
Bruce. The Boss of Storytelling. It’s so hard to lose loved ones and really, really hard to lose childhood friends. It’s why I love ‘Glory Days’. Bruce knows how to connect with his fans through his own heartache and happiness. How lucky to have Bruce be in the background of a lifetime of my memories. Thank you, Bruce and the E Street Band. "It’s so hard to lose loved ones and really, really hard to lose childhood friends. . . ." . . . or to run into them again years later and see how far they've fallen from what they could have been. That's what "Point Blank" does for me. I grew up in a crumbling industrial town in Connecticut, exactly the kind of place Springsteen sings about. It's been quite a while since I've been back there, but I will always hear his songs as the soundtrack of that city and of the people I grew up with.
@@jazzmanchgo - You’re so right. Very tragic to see the decline of our childhood friends that could stem from many challenges in life. I’ve seen that as well. Indeed, Grosse Pointe Blank is spot-on. I adore John Cusack films. Be well...☮️💟

He should be proud of that album. I listen to it all the time. Never get sick of it. I love the changes and progression Bruce Springsteen has given us musically over the year. Music to grow with. Each album fit a time in my life. I can feel that is this album as well. Great job!!! Thank you
....Bruce and the boys are some of the BEST of our countrys musical cousins from back east somewhere that let us feel that vibe,...Guthrie Theatre Minneapolis 1977....thanks Boss for a life shared...
When he plays I want to jump up and dance; when he speaks I just want to listen. I've seen Bruce at a gym I used to frequent in Long Branch, NJ - I have mucho respect for this man - he is genuine - he is humble - he is a brilliant musician.
One of the things that always made me like this guy is how genuine and humble he is....he never talks about how great he is.....just how fortunate he is!
I saw Bruce and the E street band in 2013 in Wales. I couldn’t get over his energy. He would put younger performers in the shade. Such a great front man.
interesting how different this conversation is compared to other Jimmy Fallon clips. Bruce is obviously an Idol for Jimmy, given the respectful way, he's talking to him :D
I wasn’t raised on Bruce, but I discovered him in my mid to late 20s, thanks to a girl who was going to college in my area at that time. We became good friends, and would periodically roadtrip together. On one of these trips, she played his first two albums for me, back to back. While I recognized a handful of the songs throughout, I was amazed at the musicianship of his songs that I didn’t recognize, from Lost In The Flood to Kitty’s Back, the lyrics, and the musical maturity. I’ve since seen Bruce and the E Street Band live three times, with my first time being before even the girl who introduced me to his music (she had since finished college, and moved home, to the other side of the country). Given the state of things in the world, I don’t expect any concerts any time soon, but I’ll forever cherish my memories of seeing them in 2012, 2014, and 2016!
When he gets together with the E Street Band, they sound amazing. Western Stars was good, but Letter To You is like a throwback to 30 years ago, simply fantastic.
It is such a great album-Letter to You is Bruce talking straight to me. It has been a privilege to be in his era, to have seen shows since my first in '78. I so didn't know Greetings and felt I was missing something special. When he came back to Chicago on that same Darkness tour I had done my homework. Covid get gone, I need the Letter tour, we need the Letter to US.
@@jenniferd.w.357 Now I love Bruce but, darling, he HAS aged. Have you not seen him at the start of his career? He’s aged, but he’s aged well; he has put in the effort to take care of himself in different ways. He never allowed the sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll mentality into the band like so many other bands have. He’s putting in the reps exercise-wise and he just may have some hardy genetics!! Good job Bruce!!
I had surgery Nov 20 and nearly died twice. My family were amazing. But knowing that Bruce, his words, his beautiful music, understanding and sharing of himself, gave and still bring me joy. Bless you Boss, your family, and please keep safe. For such a private soul, you give so much and all we can do is share and love you. Always have, always will. Love your books too. I have a short list of “greats” I’m grateful to have shared this time on earth with: Bruce is certainly one of them. So much more than even his outstanding lyrics. 💙
As I listen to Bruce talk about 1965-68; his story made me think about my favourite classic black &white movie, called “Penny Serenade” -thank you for evoking that memory.
The thumbs down....Who???? Mr. Springsteen is so much more than an awesome, talented artist. Read up on what Mr. Springsteen has contributed to for less fortunate. Thank you.
As a 40 year old woman, I was brought up on "The Boss", both my mum and dad love him, and still do to this day. As a Brit, from Liverpool, home town of The Beatles - Bruce, thank you for your songs, and here's to you at 72! Keep on rocking! 🖤🇬🇧✨
I've been in a Drive All Night binge here lately, listening to all the remakes. It would be overwhelming to be a new fan now and have to consume such a huge catalog. Theres no one better.
I became a Bruce Springsteen fan in 2012, I was in 8th grade and hurricane Sandy destroyed NYC and NJ, so they did the 12.12.12 concert for Sandy Relief. Years later after college my buddy and I moved into an apartment in Syracuse NY and he had a record player. I walked down the street to a store called Sound Garden looking for the first vinyl I’d ever buy at 22, and I picked out Born in the USA right away. I couldn’t believe the songs that I heard on there that I’d never even known about, like “Downbound Train” which is perhaps my favorite Bruce song of all time. But something about moving on in my life, living in a post-industrial city like Syracuse with so many sad and interesting stories got me hooked, and I wound up finding songs I never would’ve found that enriched my life in ways I couldn’t imagine; “The River”, “Atlantic City”, “Streets of Philadelphia” (plus I saw the movie). Amazing performer, amazing guy. Also great interview, kudos to Jimmy
Normally I would say he looks good for 71 but now that, somehow, I am 66, I will just say he looks great! I love Bruce and his music for 40 years and am happy I had the priviledge to grow up on his music. LOVE YOU BRUCE!!!!
Cool to hear Bruce talk about his early inspiration...The Drifters...Twist and Shout and Greensleeves...etc..nice and to hear the inspiration for Letters..awesome
I can only feel humble and grateful, as you all do. I wish I could ever give back a little something of the same quality. Something simple, good and genuine. We all have a little bit of that, and it feels like if Bruce saw it and wrote it and sang it on our behalf. As someone said, he makes us remember things we've never lived. Thanks so much to you and all those that helped and inspired you. We will never be alone.
One of the greatest songwriters of our lifetime. Admittedly I prefer his more subdued work, but no other album will resonate with me more than Nebraska does.
Seeing him play tomorrow for the second time. I really hope he plays “see you in my dreams” after my sister and I went to see him almost 15 years ago my mum said she would come next time. She passed away six years ago but that song makes me feel like she’s right here along with me. If he plays that at the concert I’ll probably cry. It will just feel like my mum did make it to the gig after all
The boss’ music is the soundtrack of my life. I got letter to you on vinyl and fear I am going to wear it out. One of the great things that I have been able to do with extra time during quarantine is to listen to his autobiography a second time and stop and listen to each album as he describes how it was conceptualized and brought to life. He is one of the great philosophers of our age.

If Bruce has touched that place in your soul, that place from which you will never be the same, you totally get it. I can’t imagine what things would be for me if he wasn’t. He has been my preacher, my teacher, and he has helped to shape who I am today, and for that I will always be grateful…
“The Boss” My First memory of a Bruce Springsteen song… Dad was test-driving a car and I happened to go along. Windows were down, as we rounded the on-ramp. It was a sunny day - the weather was not damp. “Hungry Heart,” on the radio…played. It was a Toyota Celica & that memory stayed. I bought “Born In The U.S.A.” - used to listen to it before work. Plopping in the cassette was always a definite perk! In my sophomore year of college, my roommate loved The Boss. I listened to a lot of Bruce though my G.P.A. took a loss. The Nebraska Album - “Atlantic City,” at the time, was #1. We faced many challenges, but Bruce brightened our sun. My Next roommate was also a Springsteen fan. The River Album played - many a popped beer in hand. One Summer, we were at a friend’s everyone from the herd. “Thunder Road” came on the radio everyone sang every word. “Roselita” is another favorite in my over-flowing cup. It was always there when I needed a pick-me-up. We were on the bridge in Atlantic City windows down…having fun. On the radio, “Born to Run.” Decades later… a friend gave me two books to read. Both about Bruce & I followed his lead. I am half- way through the first one now. I had no idea of his hardships - sometimes I shake my head, “Wow!” Bruce could’ve given up - at any time he could have quit. A life without his music - just think about that for a bit. He inspired me to continue my quest. Giving up on a dream is far from the best. Clarence Clemons - “The Big Man”... Bruce’s partner in crime. Each night on stage they cre8ed new rhyme. I awoke one morning his sax playing in my soul. R.I.P. Good Sir - your passing still takes a toll. “Jungle Land” is my all-time fave. In difficult times it helps me be brave. Thank you, Bruce, for keeping me above zero. To me, you are The Greatest American Hero.
Unlike the audience, I got excited when he said the first song he learned was Greensleeves cause that was the first song I learned too. And anyone else have his song My Hometown on their mind too during this interview? It's so weird how long ago he wrote that song and is still relevant to who he is now after all these years. Goes to show how honest and down to earth he is in his music.
If there is one person to show what New Jersey is about, it's Bruce Springsteen. He has never forgotten where he came from, he is the Folk/Rock Artist of New Jersey! His songs prove it over and over again!
This was my first Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band album. I rediscovered them a few years ago when going through a tough time. It was gospel music and the Boss.😊
The High School band he refers to was The Castiles. Recordings exist. They did a version of Hendix Purple Haze. Even at seventeen you can tell its Bruce.
This album rates right up there with Born to Run and it shows a maturity in both lyrics and life experiences. If he does not do another album with the E Street Band for whatever reason this is the one to end up on: it’s been a hell of a ride Boss and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for sharing your life and your music; you are without question your generations Bob Dylan; Well I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk and we are all better off for it.
Bruce is so natural here, so ready to tell stories and explain his life, and Jimmy is so over the top that I feel like saying, "Stop interrupting him!" No wonder I prefer Stephen Colbert.
Hi, please rewatch this because Jimmy really does let him speak quite a while without interrupting. I’m also surprised that you compare Jimmy’s interviewing skills to Colbert who has truly mastered the art of interrupting and asking his own questions which take 5 minutes for him to finish his own question and gives his guest 10 seconds to answer.
JUST READ SPRINGSTEEN'S BOOK THIS PAST APRIL, I HAD SEEN WESTERN STARS SUMMER OR AUTUMN OF 2019 AND THEN BEGAN LISTENING TO ALL OF HIS RECORDS AND I AM VERY MUCH IN TUNE WITH WHAT HE SAYS FROM HIS BEGINNING SONGS TO NOWADAYS.
@B Babbich find another industrialized modern country where literally millions of people believe there is a liberal elite of Satan worshipping blood drinking pedophiles plotting against their leader.....I help you, there isn’t one. While America has some of the greatest minds in the world, it also has the biggest supply of idiots the world has ever seen. By design. The educational system in the USA has consistently declined to its sad present days where, an absurdity for the richest country in the world, it’s not even in the Top 30 worldwide. So when they say there are two America’s, a red and a blue one, a conservative and a liberal one, it’s also true that there more idiots there than anywhere else. So much so it’s shocking (prior to moving back to NYC, I lived in 5 other countries, traveled in 46 and I can guarantee you we have the most idiots than anyone else and by a fat margin). Just look at the millions protesting two days ago at the Stop the Steal marches.....lost the election by 7 million votes, lost 50 out of 51 law suits, lost every recourse to the Supreme Court and these idiots still complain with zero facts, zero evidence, zero anything. That kind of idiocy you only found here at home and nowhere else
@B Babbich He gave a perfectly lucid and clear explanation of why other nations look at America in the way that you complain about...based on his own personal experience and travels...and you dismiss it as" fabrication and clickbait".....mmmmm, well now, who do you sound like?
Glad to see Bruce in good form again. His song Streets of Philadelphia became an unparalelled rock anthem worldwide, and is still a favorite of many rock n roll music aficionados.

He seems to have a caring heart and soul. My favorite song was “Dancing in the Dark”. It reminds me when I was a young woman who was just so bored with my life. And that song made me get up and dance. My favorite lyrics: what to change, my clothes, my face......
Love your comment, it immediately sets the mood to something I recognize from my days as a youngster ;-)
Actually he is quite paranoid and drunk.
I’m still waiting ….I want to change me…
Bruce I will 🌻love him forever. His music speaks to my soul.😘
He always was and will always be the man that wrote the soundtrack of my life.
I can't believe he is 71 years old. He looks soooo good!

True, I think it's his genes and diet. My mother is 75 or so and she also looks great.

I still miss Clarence. ✨👼🏾🎷✨❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
I agree this was a moving interview.
He definitely lives up His title of " The Boss! "
Looking forward to hearing this album and getting it for my children and grandchildren for Christmas.
Hopefully he'll actually cover
" Green Sleeves " with the E Street Band some day.
I certainly want to hear now, after finding out it was the first song he ever learned.

I'd be honored if some Springsteen fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal cover performance of DANCING IN THE DARK on my YT channel in tribute to the United States of America and our next President, Joseph R. Biden. Peace and everybody stay safe.

I have followed Bruce Springsteen for literal decades. He is always in the hear and now. What a beautiful soul! Thanks for all the great music Bruce and the E Street band. You are a one of a kind for sure!🙋♀️✌❤
I was there too, amazing show - I think he played for 3hrs 45min if I remember rightly!
@@yfacymdacsi That’s amazing. He’s such a legend. 👍
I adore him. He has been my companion during my separation a continent away from home. No friends. No family. Just my child and me.
interesting how different this conversation is compared to other Jimmy Fallon clips.
That an awesome story! How old are you now? 33 here, but I grew up on springsteen thanks to my dad

Lost in the Flood is a song that never ages with me. This is sacrilege but I don't need to hear Born to Run ever again.

Yeahhh. You should see Me. 🤭😂
He has aged, better than some, not as good as others, that's life and genetics.
Hope you’re with us, a year later and beyond.
I've grown up with this man and his music... a legend. ❤️
Yes she has done this before
And a lot of things we haven't Heard about yey
clicked as soon as i saw Bruce Springsteen
“Sad Eyes” definitely has that hopeful/sad tone to it. I love it.
jlcm90 he suffers from depression so yes it’s normal to have sad eyes and a frown
It's a rarity when Jimmy doesn't interrupt the guest non stop. Definitely a welcome reprieve when the boss is a guest.
Even here he's annoying but I get your drift.
Jimmy clearly worships him and is flustered in his presence.

One of the Greats. Still listen to his vinyl. Never get tired of it.
Many stars can look good but it's Bruce's heart & spirit that shines thru in his lyrics and singing that will be ever ageless
I love Bruce. I've been a fan of his for 40 years, almost my whole life. He's an amazing songwriter and performer.
He's my dad's idol, too, when he was a boy
It’s been over 40 years for me keep rocking boss
Bruce Springsteen looks marvelous!!

Bruce's Pete Seeger album is one of my favorites!
Normally I would say he looks good for 71 but now that, somehow, I am 66, I will just say he looks great! I love Bruce and his music for 40 years and am happy I had the priviledge to grow up on his music. LOVE YOU BRUCE!!!!
Bruce looks fantastic , can’t wait for “Letter to you “ live
Might be one of Fallon's best interviews. Asked a question, listened, let the guest talk and didn't interrupt them.
Did he KISS Bruce's Keister?
Bruce Springsteen my greatest memory of my high school life. Please come to El Paso TX, we love you here!!!!!!

Respect for shedding a tear for a lost friend...
Cool to hear Bruce talk about his early inspiration...The Drifters...Twist and Shout and Greensleeves...etc..nice and to hear the inspiration for Letters..awesome
This is probably the best interview from the boss, he opened up and talked, glad Jimmy just sat back and listened, respect
Barak Obama once said to Bruce: I might be the President but you will always be the boss
He said that to me, too.
Yes, he did. Have a snap of that ! Two guys I layed it down for.
Wow. That is so impressive.
well I would agree
Did you know that Bruce HATES being called the boss? Hates it.
Yeah Nebraska is the shit man. Amazing price of work.
No kidding. Nebraska is a work of art.
It will just feel like my mum did make it to the gig after all
Definitely the Boss changed my life when I first listened Born To Run in 1975, being 15 by then. Sends shivers down my spine still.
Me too, I was 15 too. WAS, oh, I hate that!
I say a big Thanks to you. I appreciate your love and support.. keep supporting. I'm just having a private conversation with my fans and you can contact me on my fanmeet email officialbruceSpringsteen86@gmail.com

Who's the Boss?
Bruce Springsteen, of course!
Of course, always and forever. He is brilliantly magnificent...!!!
Cool cool cool
“The Boss”
My First memory
of a Bruce Springsteen song…
Dad was test-driving a car
and I happened to go along.
Windows were down,
as we rounded the on-ramp.
It was a sunny day -
the weather was not damp.
“Hungry Heart,”
on the radio…played.
It was a Toyota Celica
& that memory stayed.
I bought “Born In The U.S.A.” -
used to listen to it before work.
Plopping in the cassette
was always a definite perk!
In my sophomore year of college,
my roommate loved The Boss.
I listened to a lot of Bruce
though my G.P.A. took a loss.
The Nebraska Album -
“Atlantic City,” at the time, was #1.
We faced many challenges,
but Bruce brightened our sun.
My Next roommate
was also a Springsteen fan.
The River Album played -
many a popped beer in hand.
One Summer, we were at a friend’s
everyone from the herd.
“Thunder Road” came on the radio
everyone sang every word.
“Roselita” is another favorite
in my over-flowing cup.
It was always there
when I needed a pick-me-up.
We were on the bridge in Atlantic City
windows down…having fun.
On the radio,
“Born to Run.”
Decades later…
a friend gave me two books to read.
Both about Bruce
& I followed his lead.
I am half- way through
the first one now.
I had no idea of his hardships -
sometimes I shake my head, “Wow!”
Bruce could’ve given up -
at any time he could have quit.
A life without his music -
just think about that for a bit.
He inspired me
to continue my quest.
Giving up on a dream
is far from the best.
Clarence Clemons - “The Big Man”...
Bruce’s partner in crime.
Each night on stage
they cre8ed new rhyme.
I awoke one morning
his sax playing in my soul.
R.I.P. Good Sir -
your passing still takes a toll.
“Jungle Land”
is my all-time fave.
In difficult times
it helps me be brave.
Thank you, Bruce,
for keeping me above zero.
To me, you are
The Greatest American Hero.
Nice tribute!
Really wish they’d make a biopic about this amazing man!
My Hometown is the shit. Never get tired of playing it.

This was my first Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band album. I rediscovered them a few years ago when going through a tough time. It was gospel music and the Boss.😊
@brucesprings my pleasure. I’m in Ohio. How are you feeling today? 😊
@brucesprings oh wow...since the 70's. My all time favs Born to Run and If I Should Fall Behind
The High School band he refers to was The Castiles. Recordings exist. They did a version of Hendix Purple Haze. Even at seventeen you can tell its Bruce.
One of their first songs is "Baby I". I listen to it when the spirit moves me. Young Bruce, so treasured.
So much enjoy his being genuine and open in his interviews in addition to his fantastic musical abilities. God bless everyone

If he does not do another album with the E Street Band for whatever reason this is the one to end up on: it’s been a hell of a ride Boss and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I wish Bruce all the best! May he keep on trucking baby!!!!!!!!! 🚚 🤗
