      That is what the rule of law takes. The legal process is slow, these governments have a duty to preserve and maintain the seized property until the wheels of justice have churned and the vessel is sold or returned to the owner.
      Plus you've seen how the values plummet at the first sign of neglect.

      Putin 'allows' them a monopoly in a certain field, and takes half the profit.. the other half remains with the industrialist oligarch. When Putin came to power, he arrested one of the them, and put him through kangaroo court, as an example to the others... pay me half, or this happens to you. Loyalty bought with fear, Poo then lets them alone to run their empires and pay him billions.

      "wonder" I mean you know we all know they got the money by ripping off the Russian people. There's a reason the worlds second strong military is doing SO incredibly poorly against the worlds, idk 50th at the time of the invasion military. Day 600+ of the three day invasion.
      I mean personally I don't mind the rampant corruption in Russia, if they're going to have a dictatorship that is.

    • @Valkyrie11609
      @Valkyrie11609 8 месяцев назад +16

      Despite people providing glib answers there actually is an answer. And it starts with a good working definition of oligarchy.
      Under the USSR all business belonged to the government. Without a central government the question became what to do with the businesses. So the decision was made to return it to the people in the form of something resembling a stock. Well... after some time the rest of the economy continued to suffer. But the common man had some wealth on paper. Buy had difficulty getting food etc. Enter the modern day wealthy Russian. They saw an opportunity and paid pennies on the dollar. The holder of the piece of paper got some money which he could buy food with. And the few who saw the opportunity continued to buy these businesses up. When you add that kind of money to political access/power you have now created the modern day oligarchy. I won't get into all the legal and moral implications of this. But this is how they got so wealthy.

      Westerners, with Americans in the lead, are so hypocritical. In your rhetoric we had the American billionaires with multinationals who made their money through the arms and ammunition industry, energy companies, etc..... also seized their assets. Because we all know the close ties between American politicians and government and their industry. No country in the world has started as many illegal proxy wars as the USA. Foreign governments overthrown, coups supported (CIA), friendly leaders put in their place, the list is endless. The American criminal interference in the Middle East, South East Asia, Central and South America is simply endless. So should we have seized the superyachts and other property of Americans as well? Big difference between American and Russian billionaires, Americans usually try to hide their wealth and corruption, the Russians just show up!
