Still waiting for the drama 😅 This has been one of the best docking maneuvers here on RUclips. Professional captain and crew. All done right. Very calm and straight forward. Perfect 👌
That is undoubtedly the best video I've watched yet of a Superyacht docking. So many videos out there showing the yacht, the scenery (all with loud music) but this is the first I've seen showing the Captain actually operating the controls. This video also illustrates quite nicely the 25M limit for non-licenced Captains; I'd have been quite happy performing that in a 25M vessel- and have done several times- but at 36M you cross the line from boat into a small ship and it's a very different scenario. Compliments to Captain and crew.
Im glad you liked the video, i wanted to show it doesnt just have to be use of thrusters to turn and position the yacht, i think the video showed what can be done.
And where is a drama? The speed in the port above the limit? More than 10 knots! Easy handling boat! Captain has full view astern from the mooring station. Enough space between the boats.Daytime.Good weather!
Drama is the girls on the boat picking fenders up, not doing anything with them , running around stressed while it's not about them, not knowing how to throw a heaving line, guy running up and down the passerelle, also no reason for that...and yes I worked on yacht for over 10 years, docked 45 m motorjacht and 28 m sailing yachts multiple years...no bow thruster no stern thruster, never shouting, ...but, other than that, nice docking tho..have seen worse..
The girls did a perfect job, no stress from them, and they had to lift the fenders out because they couldn’t pass the other yacht fenders, and then the gap was too tight, hardly a case of not knowing what to do. The heaving lines were thrown perfectly first time. Mate was doing as instructed to get the passerelle over the dock. It doesn’t get much better than that.
i just love how both of the crews of the boats next to the berth went with fenders, this isnt just "your problem" lets everyone lend a hand so its not a problem
Do the yachts either side get advance warning of your arrival?....Is there any restrictions on what time you can dock?,....The French Riviera is a marvellous place !
Hi, if the crew is alert they will see the dock guys preparing, but normally the ports don’t come knocking to warn you, but it would be nice if they did so you can prepare better.
❤ thank you very much. As a sailor it's very interesting to follow this. As a captain I'll say no, not big enough on the sides..50 cm both sides isn't sure enough..well??? dramatic???😮 well made, good job! 👋😀⛵️🇨🇭
Nice to have no wind, not sure I would even try if there was! Regardless, nice job, just wondering when this will be all automatic, the technology certainly is there so.
I would have spended the 23 M in a way different way. Thanks for posting though so we can see how this works. I didnt see drama though but i would indeed stress out about how close you are to other boats. I see alot of misogynist comments here. The WOMEN did well imho and good captain too. Have fun and stay safe
So you pay 23 million to live in a semi-detached house with neighbors 10 ft away from you and in public view of curious ryan air tourists. Hell of an experience 😮😅
well done guys, i remember entering this shit hole plenty of times, not a best place for docking plus every time you leave you need a diver assistance with an anchor.
I remembered docking rules since i onboard yacht way back year 2000 getting a small lisence😅 three rules slow3x🤣 docking and undock is not a contest as long as your boat is in safe no scratch at all
Hi 👋, The last time I was there back in 2000/1 then again in 2004 , it wasn’t quite so crowded, apart from a few thousand Harley Davidson Where we held the European hog rally, . It was amazing then and still is amazing now, I was riding a Softail Deuce, I had ridden just over 1500, in 3day , It was a amazing week of fun 🤩, I met 2 lovely young lady, 😂, and great ride outs Beautiful and amazing scenery, Controlling the superyacht looks very complicated, though I suppose with side thrusters it does make it a bit easier , great work, captain, and sailors, you boldly go, where no the other has gone, 😂 . If it wasn’t for my ex partner, I would still have my bike., but she has scammed me for hundreds of thousands of pounds over the last 20 years. I had to sell my bike, but I now live in France which is obviously closer to where I live before UK., Great tutorial on, controlling a superyacht backwards into your harbour, I hope you all have a present voyage, Phil from the moulin France.
@@SuperyachtVideo Hi 👋, thank you for your reply, Some very interesting Yachts 🛥️ and Boats, being built now days, can virtually turn on their own axis, I have been watching a couple over the last 2/3 weeks sail across the Atlantic, I think they have docked somewhere in Portugal, but have not heard from the best part of five days now, so I presume they are enjoying themselves, As for Harley Davidson bikes, I’m hoping to buy a secondhand one later in this year, I do not have the money like I used to when I was working doing Barn conversions, making specialist doors and windows, now in my early 70s, but still reasonably fit, because of my problems with my ex partner, I’ve lost a lot of money, because of her, , at present I am struggling, especially as I have got storm damage on my property which normally I would be up there on it sorting it out, it has got very old asbestos tiles on the roof because of that I’ve got to get a special listen to remove them, believe it or not, that is more than the price of a bike, then on top of that I’ve got to pay for the tiles and installation and everything else that goes with it, I’ve been to St Tropez twice as I think I said the ride down from the UK with about 20 other Harley riders was is a bit hectic, The main thing is, we will all ride safe and sound, And riding over the Pyrenees and the Alps is always amazing, Thank you for the chat , not sure whether you are located, but hopefully I’ll be in St Tropez later this year or next all being well, I am looking 👀 for a secondhand, Softail Deuce , and they seem to have gone up in value quite a bit, Stay Safe, Phil from the moulin France.
Effectively an old fishing port made famous by Bridget Bardot, but not much bigger now than then. Space is a premium . New marinas are built with more space in mind. Saying that, in Europe. Car parking spaces haven’t changed size, but the average car is probably 50%bigger
Good docking. Still, reflecting: Here is a 23MM investment with which one can look out at other similar investments right next door, somewhat like a superlative camper on a crowded camping. Believe I would shun these places and concentrate on seeking secluded bays, nature, etc. Of course this is not my problem as I don't own one..... =)
Very true. St Tropez not a common destination for this yacht. 2022 it did Sweden, Denmark and then Norway, the latter in particular we didn’t see another yacht.
I think the crew did an excellent job of getting the lines on quickly, safely , and without need for winching on the stern, and hence no stoppers required. This saves a lot of time and effort. Thank you for your comments though .

Engines at idle---steering set a straight ahead----transmissions at neutral----now, use only the transmissions to get in the berth---easy--peasey!!!!!!!!!
@@SuperyachtVideo Boat not going fast enough for rudders to work quickly---using the transmissions makes adjustments fast and accurate---and lets not forget the bow thrusters and a boat that size probably has thrusters in the stern!!!
@@normanhowe-gl2tq Actually rudders have a massive effect, but not by forward motion. They are used by using prop wash on turned rudders, which results in thrust. For example , turning the rudder to starboard, and engaging port ahead momentarily , will give a blast of water against the port rudder. This is deflected to starboard, and the resultant is in effect a thrust to port of the stern. It is a very powerful effect. It is how single screw vessels have to handled.
@@SuperyachtVideo The screws and rudder are a long way from the longitudinal centre of mass of the boat - I presume that makes the steering adjustments quite delicate.
These yachts are getting longer and wider but nobody is making the spaces wider for them to dock, it's ridiculous. This crew were very professional but I recently saw a crew who were totally useless and the yacht had heaps of room either side but it still took them 3 times longer to "park".
Dramatique parce que on l’on peut entendre beaucoup de tension dans discussions entre eux et avec les autres bateaux à côté , qui ne souhaitaient pas que le yacht se place ici…

Nice to hear Dutch......must be a fantastic crew . Goed gedaan meiden en mannen. We blijven toch nog altijd een beetje zeerovers 😅

Such a great perspective from the video. Job well done by the Captain and crew !

Little scary. Big big boat in small space

A yacht with twin main engines, bow thrusters and stern thrusters is easier to maneuver than parking a car.
